Great information ! My M109R came with used Dunlaps , and it cornered poorly. I put on a set of Perelli Night Dragons and it was like getting a new motorcycle! Now i feel safe and confident. Good tires matter!
Couldn't agree more, absolutley love my Avon Cobra Chrome. Started with the 250, now on a 260. Your mileage sounds about right, I got ~11k on the 250 in about a year... we'll see how long the 260 lasts, once I get the engine rebuilt.
Valid point my brothers. Same issue I had with the rear tire on the Gxsr750R I had. Just sold it a few days ago and got this m109r. I need tires for it and you showed up😜🙏. Blessed be God. Thanks for the video.

Good info to have, man. Appreciate the candid approach to important talking points. Almost got the Avons on the Scout before we traded it on the '19 Chieftain Limited, and already was thinking about what to get to replace the Elite 3s.
I'm still amazed he only has 12k subs . Either way I still love the content he's up there with shadetree and blockhead for me. Keep up the great work 👍
All three of my previous sportbikes came with Dunlops from the factory. None of them faired very well. Always had good results with Avons and Michelins.
From my experiences... the softer the rubber is the better grip a tire gets and the quicker the tire wears. On my sport bike I go with medium soft if I’m riding the streets, but for a track I go soft rubber. For my cruiser I still go with medium soft because of the garage on public streets like loose asphalt, car fluids and rain
I immediately replaced my stock tires on my 2018 M109R with believe or not the Michelin Scorchers 240, I had Michelins on my Suzuki TRL 1000, Michelins speak for themselves period , they are not just for the Harleys and perform excellent, wear, looks the whole package.
Hey Brandon I sure appreciate you brother. I just purchased a used but to me a new M109 and it has the cobras on so after viewing your video I'm going to keep using the brand, Thanks again 👍
Excellent choice. After much research and rider reviews, I went with the Avon CC as well. I went to the max size on the rear without mods which is a 260. So far so good. Another tire one might consider is the Metz 888. They are second on the list if these Avon’s try to act up lol
Glad you gave your personal review on the rubber Brandon. I always enjoy hearing what people have to recommend. I also changed out my Dunlop's and switch to the Metz 888 in a 260 size. I love this tire and even though I get up to 3-5k miles. I love how it grips and handle.
Hi there great video. Juat picked up an 09 M109R tonight and Im stoked. Are you still recommending this tire today? How many miles did you get on this one? Have you switched this out yet and are you still running this tire if so? Thanks in advance. Also I see some guys are using 10w40 oil and some are using 20w50. I did notice the gears were clangy with the 20w50 oil in it but it was cold today when I test drove it. I also read that 1st to second gear has issues on these, and a few shifts made me concerned with the bike. It has 16k miles on it. Thoughts?
I've run 3 Avons. Don't know the exact mileage but I've gotten at least 10K on each. Hard shifts happen in 1st/2nd. I'd only get concerned if it drops back to neutral while shifting. Otherwise, shift it like you mean it and keep it moving.
Sweet. I wanna go for a set of Cobra Chrome's on the 2018+Fat Boy. Ever since Cobra said their new compound gets more milage, is more gripy, and has better wet handling characteristics, I wanted to give them a shot.
Love your M109r sweet bike. thinking of picking up a M109r in about a year. Anyway, Im glad you posted this. I just bought a set of these for my 2008 VTX1800. I appreciate your input and this helps me feel more confident about my purchase. Sounds like this tire really fits my needs. keep up the nice work. I have enjoyed your vids. you can see my VTX on my channel, I had reviewed it.
An "Avon" is a good choice of a tire. My 1st bike was a brand new 1981 CX500Custom, Honda. It came with Bridgestone's,,, > they sucked, lasted about 6k, rear/ 7.5k front tire. My 2nd set of tires were a Dunlop Touring Elite,, they're called something else now a days, but they're still around, the rear lasted about 8k ,,,,, and some slippage! The 2nd for my front tire I chose the Avon Road Runner,,,,(now its called a Road Rider!), it lasted better than 22K for the front, when my Dunlop wore out I installed an Avon Road Runner, it lasted on the rear of my cx500c 16k miles! Now, some 40 yrs later , I have an '81 Yamaha XS1100H,,,,,,,,,, and well, it's a "Muscle Bike" of the day, and my rear tire just doesn't go so long......... but : I've never slipped with them!
Avon cobra chrome!! Before I put them on my Audace I was super sceptic!! But my Audace was as well sold stock with Dunlops D211 and they didn't had the dry and wet grip! I put Avon Cobra Chrome and first of all the bike is much more eager to tip in plus the grip is epick in all condition!! Plus they last much longer!! Win win win for me!!
Thx for the input!! Appreciate it. Had a Metz and a pirelli one season... many years ago. 2 flats just months apart.... with the latter picking up 2 nails! I don't remember which of the 2 brands it was, but the 250 was wider sitting side by side???
I ride a Yamaha Stryker. Stock came with Bridgestones (size 210). Got a screw in the rear tire at the beginning of my second season, and went with the Michelin Commander II and went up to a 240. It was decent enough. Third season (this year), I got a nail in the MC II. Went with the Metzler ME 888 this time, and it is sooo much better. Definitely feel the difference with traction compared to the other two tires.
Dude, what's with you and your love for metal parts in your tires, lol. Thanks for dropping your recommedation. I forgot about the Raider/Strykers having bigger rears. I went off the top with my bike choices but of course there are a bunch of bikes with bigger rears in the 200mm+ range.
@@BrandonBicasso haha, for real. I think i picked up the metal from my work parking lot. Close to the doors and suite construction likely played a factor. I park in another area now Hopefully i can get more than a year out of this one.
Thanks for the info Brandon. I just bought that tire for my M. Mostly because of the 250 size. Hard to find this size by other brands. I do like the Metezler.
Got the Avon Cobra for my rear tire love it.Sent my ecu off to BCS Performance for flashing. Will be back this week. Also got Hard Chrome Velocity Pro Short exhaust on the way. Also got the engine mounts with polyurathane to install.Thinking about buying the 10" rim and 280 tire for it.
Yep, gonna do my engine mounts soon too. I just bought the regular hard mounts to replace the ones on front. Hopefully, they don't bring too much vibration.
I’ve got the metezler 888 and it held up great until I put a nail in it. Gonna put a 250 next on it. I’ve got zero complaints about the tire. Not sure if it’s just the bike or the tire but ya i don’t slow down in the rain on the highway.
I just got the front tire delivered two days ago. Still waiting on the rear. Ordered from J & P Cycles. I have a local shop in Milton, FL I'm working with on installing them once I get the other tire.
10:17. I love how that bike has that 450lb Crimson Tide fan post kegger sleep apnea snore! If I had speakers on my bike, I'd use that sound as an effect for off throttle.... And and tactile transducers got the feel. Lol
My Dunlops on my VTX1300C sucked on wet pavement too. My bikes in the shop for fork seals and other maintenance and I'm getting some Michelin Commander 3s put on. They are supposed to be pretty good, we shall see. Those Avons look sweet though.
I've been using Dunlop Elite 3 for over 10 yrs on my 109. No complaints. Got about 8k miles But I wanted to see if I could get better mileage and performance, so I tried the Avons. It was an expensive mistake. First , Dual compound, true. But the sides did no stick as well as the E3. With the Avon I was was sliding all over the place. As for the mileage? I had to replace the Avons around 3-4k miles!! So worst performance than the E3 and less than half in mileage. I went back to E3. Good luck with yours.
I like the Avon tires better than the Dunlop's to, I put a Schinko tire on the front and so far I'm pretty impressed with it but I have to give it time to see how long it will last, but it's a soft tire and it grips the road pretty well, thanks for sharing brother, and ride safe and ride easy 💯 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Told they were dual compound...but I havent confirmed. Based on the wear I'd believe it. And I havent experienced huge performance drop either...then again other than on and off ramps FL doesnt have a lot of twisties!
Hey Brandon I have the 2020 M109R with stock tires. I think it’s time for new tires. I want to go up a size on the rear. What’s the difference of the ride ?
I have the dunlop cruisemax wide white wall on my scout..............i like it.........avons are sticky icky, i looked at those, but didn't find white walls..............my big cruiser has bridgestone Exedra tires, and my sport bike has Metzler M3 tires...............nice piece brother!

Yo Bicasso, gotta question, is the M109 your only bike? Asking because, I also WAS an M109 owner, but prior to that I owned the ZX-14R. I now own a 2019 HD Roadglide Special wicked red denim. The primary reason for me buying my M109 was me being reluctant to make the sportbike transition, instead I opted to a sport cruiser, however after owning that naked sport cruiser I knew then I wanted a tourer/bagger. I'm 55 though, if you haven't already, when & what bike are you seriously looking to purchase my friend?
Them avons look good but, ride on top of the water. I drifted in curves even on dry payment. I prefer Metzler... longevity & performance. Ran em on my 109 until someone decided to slam on brakes in front of me. I ran 260 & 280. Still run a Metzler 300 on my ZX14 & was pleased my Challenger came with Metzlers
I didn't like the Dunlops that came with my 2013 bike. Switched to Avons and really liked them in anything but really cold wet weather. The last set of tyres were Metzler 888 and these were great too. Just fitted the new Cobra Chrome and looking forward to a ride this weekend.
@@midlymdad1293 Hi, The bike feels much lighter on Cobra Chromes. At first I thought the bike was way too twitchy, but it was just me overcorrecting everything. The tyres are very stable in turns, changes direction much easier than the ME888 and has better feel wet or dry. Have only done 6000 miles since the last MOT when they Cobra's were fitted, but they seem to be holding up well. My favourite tyres so far. Running a 260 on the rear, so this may be part of the quicker steering. I run 36psi front and 42 psi rear.
Do you consider the 250 better than the 240. I just got the bike, had it out for like 20 mins. Still getting use to it. It was raining the day I took it out. Couldn’t do much.
hello from Australia.. I have a m109r and use pirelli night dragons.. They are great for cornering and the wear rate is great I am forced to use Dunlops for go karting as that's the only tyre we are allowed to use and they are crap.
i dont have a m109, i have a yamaha raider and they have the same size rear tire i use to buy the avon cobra chrome and i thought they were great but i will never buy it again i ride hard and fast and my bike is heavy so even though it was the tire gets 15,000 mile i was changing it once a year at a little over 8,000. so i did some research and found Michelin commander 2 they cost $100 more but i have had it on the bike for 4 furs now and its still good. its suppose to last 50,000 miles thats crazy, i have 32,000 on it now and it handles just as good as the avon
I'm looking at getting a new set for my m109r. Thanks for that brand. Give me something to look at. I was looking at a set of Pirellis front and rear for mine.. I have the original Dunlap tires on it, but there 13 yr old too. Under 8000 miles.
Good information, I might pick me up an Avon tire for the C109 since you are getting that good of mileage from it. I was going to darkside to try it out but trying that Avon sounds a little better.
Hey Brandon, I have the same wear patterns as my right side is not as worn as the left. I thought it was because the handlebars got twisted some, and are slightly higher on the right side. Are your bars slightly off too?
I found the Metzler tires are the best out there great grip on the sides and the highest milage in the center.. With that said they cost a pretty penny.
On my 109 I tried Bridg exedra max (shit for grip and handling) and then Mich commander 2 (they handle shit) , Now I have Metz me888 and I ride my bike hard .''standard size'' What a difference, Handles great and great grip. It's hard to listen to other riders talking miles as an important part of riding. Phuck the miles. Iwant to go fast and around corners. me888 love them.
Typically you find a local rim or powder coat shop to do it. Most powder coating places will do it. You’d have to remove the wheel bearings and valve core first tho. If not an option, there’s multiple online places that will charge a core. They send you a set of chrome wheels and you send in yours to get your core charge back. Type in M109R chrome wheels on Google and you’ll find a few options I considered as well.
My roadmaster came with dunflops and they got flat spots with quit a bit of tread left and they were scary in the rain and the tar snakes. I’ve gone to the Michelin commander 2s and so far they seem good. Good in the rain and can’t feel the tar snakes.
All MC tires wear more on the left side in countries that drive on the right like the US. It's because left turns are literally longer distance than right turns.
I like the 250s more than the 240 but I have no experience with the 260. I was gonna run that next when my 250 runs out but the Avon’s overall just feel better on lean in. You won’t be disappointed regardless.
My main observation, if you lay that on it's side an entire family of cats could happily live inside it :D Also, I found the same with the dunlops I've used previously, I've seen their performance really really drop off as they wear, more so than they should! That tyre is bald as all hell man don't let them get that bad :D I must try Avons, I've never used them!
Great information ! My M109R came with used Dunlaps , and it cornered poorly. I put on a set of Perelli Night Dragons and it was like getting a new motorcycle! Now i feel safe and confident. Good tires matter!
I’ve had my 109 for 12 years now, I’ve run every brand and the Avon definitely lasts longest, the runout performance is outstanding. Love your vids

@@BrandonBicasso Oh most definitely, pretty much everyone's stance, gotta get into position! Great work brother, continued blessings!
Hopefully something in the next few months. Mostly logistic hang ups.
How did it run with a 280? I’m thinking about puttin one on, since I heard they can go on a stock rim. Any issues that you know of???
Hi gents thx for video, i,m gonna get the tyres for my 2014, 109 What is the wider size of rear and front without any mods?
Thanks from now on
That I'm not sure of.
Great tire had them on my Triumph bonneville bobber 👍
Nice vid G... very clean ... what cam are you shooting on?
Lumix G85 with a 24mm 1.7, 12-60mm 3.5., 4K 24 FPS with a GoPro at 2.7K 24 FPS 👌🏾😎
@@BrandonBicasso Awesome quality G...I recently bought an m109r and was thinking of doing a "1st month vid" - Good stuff man...I'm subbed!!!
@@mrkruz2k Awesome! Great purchase 😎👌🏾
I didn't like the Dunlops that came with my 2013 bike. Switched to Avons and really liked them in anything but really cold wet weather. The last set of tyres were Metzler 888 and these were great too. Just fitted the new Cobra Chrome and looking forward to a ride this weekend.
I would like your opinion on Avon chrome vs ME 888
@@midlymdad1293 Hi, The bike feels much lighter on Cobra Chromes.
@@geoffhaylock6848 Great info 99% I’ll get set Avon chrome
Very good info ...👍🏿
Do you consider the 250 better than the 240. I just got the bike, had it out for like 20 mins. Still getting use to it. It was raining the day I took it out. Couldn’t do much.
I prefer the look of the 250. Fills out the rim and rear end more.
hello from Australia..
I have a m109r and use pirelli night dragons.. They are great for cornering and the wear rate is great
I am forced to use Dunlops for go karting as that's the only tyre we are allowed to use and they are crap.
Bro, good thing you went with new rubber. That other tire was beyond use.
Lol! I thought I had another thousand miles out of it. ; )
i dont have a m109, i have a yamaha raider and they have the same size rear tire i use to buy the avon cobra chrome and i thought they were great but i will never buy it again i ride hard and fast and my bike is heavy so even though it was the tire gets 15,000 mile i was changing it once a year at a little over 8,000. so i did some research and found Michelin commander 2 they cost $100 more but i have had it on the bike for 4 furs now and its still good. its suppose to last 50,000 miles thats crazy, i have 32,000 on it now and it handles just as good as the avon
I'll check it out for the vmax
Most def!
I'm about to buy a Suzuki M109R and I'm asking about the 280mm and the 300mm are too much for the bike?
I mean is it hard in curves or it's okay?
I couldn’t tell you. It’ll turn but I’d wager anything over 250-260, it will be more difficult. Will probably fight you in a corner, tbh.
@@BrandonBicasso Tnx Man
Hey Brandon, I have the same wear patterns as my right side is not as worn as the left. I thought it was because the handlebars got twisted some, and are slightly higher on the right side. Are your bars slightly off too?
Nah. As others educated me on, comes from the crowning of the roads.
Just got me a new set. Waiting to install. No hurry, its too cold to ride in Ohio at the moment anyway.
Ohio can keep ALL DAT 😂
I'm running Cobra's on my Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600. 👍
Nice!
Ok you convinced me on the cobra chrome but I need a 280 so do I get a 40 or 35 series to order for my 109r?
For the chromes, you get a 35 series. The previous cobras ran a 40 series. On the 280/300 it's 35. 250/260 run a 40.
@@BrandonBicasso thanks! Looking for one right now
I found the Metzler tires are the best out there great grip on the sides and the highest milage in the center.. With that said they cost a pretty penny.
Which Metzler?
On my 109 I tried Bridg exedra max (shit for grip and handling) and then Mich commander 2 (they handle shit) ,
Now I have Metz me888 and I ride my bike hard .''standard size'' What a difference, Handles great and great grip.
It's hard to listen to other riders talking miles as an important part of riding.
Phuck the miles. Iwant to go fast and around corners.
me888 love them.
I feel that. Lot of Metz lovers in the comments.
I have avon on my roadking and love em
I am a new M109 owner, Im going to get these tires and size. What size you use for the front?
Avon Venom 130/70B18 69H
@@BrandonBicasso Thanks Bro!!
Is any modifications needed to bike to move from 240 to 250 ?
Nope. Stock rim can fit 260.
@@BrandonBicasso wow thx ..
Also great for victory jackpot, and hammer
I'm curious, how does your uncle like the Metzler tires offered on his Challenger? Seems Indian switched over to these on all touring lineup.
They grip well from my experience. I haven't asked but I'm sure he'll be going back with those when the time comes.
Funny I was looking around for a tire and your video popped up i always liked the avon but was not sure on the M109r now I know
Does anyone know or have recommendations to get factory wheels chromed..thanks indy
Thank you very much..enjoy your vids...
Got the same bike as you going to put a Avon on myself
Very nice! You’ll love it!
Thank nice urine great presentation keep up the good work
My roadmaster came with dunflops and they got flat spots with quit a bit of tread left and they were scary in the rain and the tar snakes. I’ve gone to the Michelin commander 2s and so far they seem good. Good in the rain and can’t feel the tar snakes.
I’ve never dried a Shinko I know they make great dirt bike tires.
Not nitpicking BB, but that old tire was toast quite a while ago haha. Especially if you ride in the rain.
😂😂😂
LOL! It was definitely getting there. I'm glad I looked, lol.
Have you thought about going bigger on the rear? The 260 or 280
Thought about the 260. I think I'll go that route next time with Avon.
@@BrandonBicasso man I can't wait to get mine. The VTX 1800 is ok but it's no bully
@@juliusdavis5069 I feel that. Be patient. It will come.
i run avon cobras chrome white wall on my 800 intruder. exelent tyre. and if you live in uk its way cheaper, becouse its made in uk.
All MC tires wear more on the left side in countries that drive on the right like the US. It's because left turns are literally longer distance than right turns.
Didn't think about that at the time of filming. 💁🏾♂️ Then again, I don't think about the planes on the roads either. 🥴
@@BrandonBicasso 'salright. It's one of those things that seems so obvious... Once somebody else points it out. Guess how I know 😅
Hey man, could you go to 260 Cobra's on the M? Or is 250 max?
Yes, 260 is the max on the stock rim.
@@BrandonBicasso Thanks man. And if I combo with stock size front, my lean ins will be significantly better than the 240 dunny E3 I'm currently on?
I like the 250s more than the 240 but I have no experience with the 260. I was gonna run that next when my 250 runs out but the Avon’s overall just feel better on lean in. You won’t be disappointed regardless.
I wish they would make one for the 16inch C109 wheel.....not many options out there for that one.
My main observation, if you lay that on it's side an entire family of cats could happily live inside it :D
Also, I found the same with the dunlops I've used previously, I've seen their performance really really drop off as they wear, more so than they should!
That tyre is bald as all hell man don't let them get that bad :D I must try Avons, I've never used them!
Do you have the same brand on the front ?
Yes
Good to know.
Choose CAREUD TPMS to help you have a bright future.
What tyre pressure you running
40 Front / 36-38 Rear
