I WAS AN ENGINEER ON THE BISHOP SHOW AND IT WAS THE HAPPIEST YEARS OF MY LIFE!! JOEY WAS A VERY GENEROUS PERSON!! WHEN WE WENT OUT ON STRIKE HE GAVE EVERY ENGINEER ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!! MY MONTHLY RENT THEN WAS $105.00 !! REGIS WAS A VERY CARRING PERSON !! I KEPT IN TOUCH WITH BOTH JOEY AND REGIS LOG AFTER THE SHOW ENDED !! I HAVE SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES THAT I THINK ABOUT ALL MOST EVERYDAY !!
I remember this exact episode and have thought about it over the years. I was a young teen and thought Joey was cooler than Johnny. To me there weren’t many adults that were with it but Sammy sure was!
Outstanding! Thank you for keeping the commercials. The show is great, but the commercials complete the full nostalgia experience.
Jay! There isn’t much footage of the Joey Bishop Show on UA-cam, so hyped for this! Looking forward!
Many years ago, I went to the great Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago and watched an episode with Yvonne DeCarlo ("The Munsters"). It was in b/w and terrific. LOL.
Sammy D. always did a phenomenal show, he was truly a one of kind entertainer.
what a great show thx for posting 😁
Friday, January 28, 1968. I was a kid, but so glad I remember these great performers. Sammy Davis Jr was such an amazing vocalist. Love the promos for ABC shows. Other than the kids and younger actors in the commercials, Robert Wagner of It Takes a Thief, is probably the only person still living from this tape.
No on e watch.that show
Also wonderful to see Sammy discussing his (then upcoming, now iconic) role in Sweet Charity!
So sweet how Sammy kiss his dad.
So great to see these recollections of Sammy Davis Jr
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
This rare remnant would be even better if it was encoded in the proper aspect ratio.
The greatest entertainer ever!
28:59 Best, hippest station promo ever.
I have only watched one other show which was in black and white featuring Yvonne DeCarlo. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful! Spontaneous things happening, like the cake fight, where do you see that in today’s television? Nowadays everything is scripted.
I was just 8 and something about Joey was different than, say, Johnny. I mean this in a good way. He was more approachable and his humor was his own. Great combo with Regis too. Color TV (we were still B&W at home) was likely being pushed with episodes like this one, so the wardrobe is a guest in itself. I know the show was edited, even lightly rehearsed, but it had a "of the moment" feel that worked well. For me the favorite late night hosts definitely include Joey as I just liked his style.
Joooooey Bishop!!
Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse had their best interpreter (to date) in Sammy Davis Jr. Was he offered the part of Captain Hook in their take on Peter Pan (Danny Kaye, Hallmark Hall of Fame, 1976)? Some company out there should look into that one.
Joey Bishop was a talented monologist (probably approaching the level of Jack Paar or Johnny Carson in ability). He had a smart (for the time) humor, but had a self-defeating knack regarding likability within the industry.
Anyone recall a down on his luck Redd Foxx crying on this show? Some years before Sanford & Son.
Sammy! That’s a roach clip!
I've never laughed so hard or more often. Thank you for sharing.
素晴らしいでーす⁉️
I remember when joey had james Brown on and some guy from the audience who sang Didn't we he sounded so good joey gave him the mike and put him on stage l must say that young man sang the hell out of that song joey had so many guests and regis filben with black black hair what a show joey even dance to James brown it was hilarious as hell man those days !!!!!😂😊❤
this should be in the Smithsonian.
Is that Regis Philbin doing the announcing at the beginning?
Yes
Later big star Regis sucking up big time.
Whatever you do, don't give the date of the broadcast!
Judging by the Nehru jacket, I'd say 1967.
Oh yes, "Salt and Pepper." "Things fall apart,/The centre cannot hold . . . "
@@williamneumyer7147that jacket looks so ridiculous today!
@@Hanover-ek4jy Watching a few minutes of the program, I also notice the slow pace and lack of direction, whereas Parr and Carson stuck to the format.
Deana Martin's only appearance on the show was on Feb. 2, 1968 according to IMDB.
Joey appeared to be an insecure jerk with Regis.
Joey was horrible as a host, and you can tell he was jealous of Sammy.
