1:55: it’s 2024. Buddy remains the greatest drummer to ever live, and he’s been dead almost 38 years. I’m privileged to have spent some moments with him - even if one of those moments was a gig where he spent the entire set screaming “PLAY THE F_CKING TIME!!” at the unfortunate piano player.

Greg Morris' character appears disgruntled, embittered and attacking in a fairy tale depiction of racial harmony and support from all in the environment. Writing which blames the victim's character and poor attitude. Greg Morris' "scary" character depicting an empowered black man who revels in hate and rejects love. As if in 1963, when this episode was broadcast, Jim Crow laws were not being strictly enforced and maintained through violence or by any other means. Bloody Sunday, the march held in Selma, Alabama, was in 1965. Nightly images of beating, violence, murder of civil rights activists being broadcast nightly on the news. In fact Isabelle Cooley, who plays Sammy Davis' wife, was hounded out of the profession for her support for the civil rights movement.

First broadcast on October 2, 1963, "Allie" from ABC-TV's "BEN CASEY" delivers a grand medical dramatic episode with guest star, Sammy Davis, Jr., who plays a Baseball player whose right eye was hit by a Baseball. This pareilels Davis, Jr's real life experience with the loss of one of his eyes during an auto accident some years earlier. Greg Morris, who later became an effective part of The IMF Team on CBS's "MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE" (1966-1973), guest stars as a blunt, humorless medical assistant, with a clip on his shoulder. Leo Penn, father of actor Sean Penn, directed this episode.

Listening and watching this on 14/05/24 Israel’s 76th Independence Day is cathartic on this more than sombre occasion due to the atrocity inflicted upon us on 7/10/23 by a marauding heinous entity called Hamas. A Jew who went by the name of Irving Berlin having escaped with his family similar outrage in another land brought happiness and joy to a nation through his genius talent of words and music. May “Blue Skies” prevail through these very dark days.

Love Sammy but he like Muhammad Ali was always harboring thoughts that the White people were against black folks. Never said it outright but if your smart enough to read between the lines you see it. On the total opposite Louie and Pearl Bailey never saw color. When Sammy talks down Bob Hope who gave up every Christmas to be with out guys over in a war weather you agree with the war or not Bob Was there. I happen to know in many of these countries Bob went to the population there did not like African Americans and the performers were in harm's way there enough without adding this racial hate "right or wrong" adding to more heightened security danger. Sadely Samny tried to talk down Louie's manager down who was white and saying all the bills were paid but Sammy himself died broke because he was a gambler and a drug addict. When he died Sammy's wife had no respect for her own husband she had the undertaker tak his fake eye out and she sold it. Talk about disgrace's Sammy should have started at home. God bless Uncle Mike and LOUIE who was so nice to me I'll never forget him.
