Ruptured my left knee in high school in 1980, then my right knee in 1983 and again in 1994. While it only happened to the left once, it was far more damaging, requiring surgery. My knees have been a source of constant pain since, but one gets used to it. Today, my left knee doesn't bend as easily, I can't cross it over my right at a 90 degree anymore. A position that always gave me comfort and eased the pain. Now, if I attempt it, I have to use my hands to get it there and it's painful after a few moments, but even more painful putting it back straight. Nevermind trying to stand. I'm 57 and I walk like a 90 year old man. I think it's time for a replacement.

What a great job of seeing where the problem lies. I had my left knee replaced years ago. The right knee is approaching that level of wear, but I am having good results rubbing Voltaren on the knee up to four times a day. It is over the counter, available as a generic, and is thought to be safer long-term than taking the parent drug, Meloxicam, orally because it greatly reduces the amount of drug reaching the kidneys. Because of my earlier experiences, I was skeptical of anything short of replacement being effective at reducing knee pain to a manageable level, but this stuff works. I am not a doctor, and you are reading this where any fool can post an opinion, but you might ask your doctor about it.
How did you get such a clear image? I thought that area of the knee would be covered in blood. I suppose one would suck out the blood somehow and fill it with water?
I just had knee surgery done a couple months ago and the orthopedist said there's only a little blood when they make the incisions. They actually flood your knee with filtered water to make it swell up and make it easier to access the meniscus and joint (think of a sponge). Even though they drain the water when done, your leg absorbs much of that water and it takes about two weeks for the body to absorb all that excess water.
@Joseph Spencer For me, it was due to too much walking for my job (I work at Intel in a cleanroom and we average 5 miles walking per shift), my age (55), and the onset of arthtritis. An MRI also revealed a torn miniscus, so the surgery removed the tear and scraped off the extra dangly bits inside my knee.

Sherry, Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. I hope you found it useful and it gave some insight as to what happens to the joint when it begins to wear. Whilst surgeons try to delay operating for as long as is possible, particularly patients under the age of 60, you may reach a stage where all non-operative treatments fail. At that point, if the wear is severe, and the arthritis is having a significant impact, restricting activity then a discussion about surgical options is appropriate. Age is a consideration, but would not stop surgery for the right patient. Regards David Duffy

Perhaps in the near future they'll be able fix it by injecting mesenchymal stem cells.

At least a knee replacement is an option. Don’t think there’s a neck replacement for neck arthritis lol
Take a knee replacement and multiply it by how many vertebrae is in your neck. Probably double that because of how the neck is built to rotate AND tilt.
:(
There is cervical spine fusion, which someone in my family had done a couple of years ago. Was very helpful.
Look up Stretching Exercise to neck pain. and before you let someone cut on you, you should try some various stretching of the back and feet. (see youtube)
Most pain goes thru the nerve system and so you get a lot of lower back issues, hip issues and in my case, knee issues and feet problems.
Stretching changed everything, plus I drink a concoction of Tbs of Honey, Tbs of Lemon juice, Tbs of Olive Oil, tsp of Cayenne pepper, tsp of Cinnamon, tsp of Turmeric, 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and a fat dash of black Pepper in a cup of hot water(wait for it to cool because the honey will hold the heat to the roof of your mouth)
The Stretching shows almost immediate relief, but due to existing pain, it might take a few days to see results
@@Wardell43 I don't really think stretching is gonna keep your cartilage from wearing out.

Just had a TKR at 49. In 2012 I started to have knee pain, I was 20 years into my military career. You could see my PT scores drop every year from 2010, and by 2015 it was getting pretty bad. That was the last year I actually ran or jogged. 2017 I retired and suffered through the next four years st it just got worse. Last year I was using a cane it was so bad. Six months out, it was no joke, I thought since I had gone through four ACL reconstructions I’d breeze through it. Most painful recovery I’ve ever had, but absolutely totally worth it. I still have a little swelling depending on how much I’m on my feet, but ever day it gets better and stronger. I’m cycling again and can walk with no pain. Looking at other options for my “good knee”. It’s not hurting now, but I’ve had two reconstructions on that one and a few minor injuries, so I know it’s coming.

After surgery I was given the happy news I need a knee replacement. Surgery here we come. Thank you to the doctors and patients that came before us paving the way to better procedures and recovery.

Dude, if i may..... reinforce ligaments, cut the garbage foods: processed foods, palm oil, transfats, gmo foods, high corn fructose, no anti-nutrients, no toxins, no pro-inflamatory omega-6 rich foods like seed oils, grains, and many vegetables, especially nightshades, farmed fish or caged chicken or grain-fed animals) cut all sugar ... and pump yourself with high nutrient dense foods..of the 100% natural and bioavailbe type. Go grass fed, head to toe ( including bone marrow, bone broths, and organs), raw and unpasteurised, go pasture only chickens/eggs and pasture pork, go wild caught fish oily fish and shellfish etc. . Also, intermittent fast ! Also, get a shiatsu pillow, and work that scar tissue, stiffness on ligaments, help unblock stuck toxins and fibrin where threre's no more good blood flow. All this will KILL inflamation, and reverse the condition, even rebuild tissue. u gotta trust me on this.
you'll also lose all the excess weight, if you got any, which will help the cause too.

Cut all toxix/inflamatory sugar, vegetable oils, seeds, grains and high omega 6 foods and most high sugar veggies or most high in antinutrinets vegetables, i.e nightshades ( aubergines, tomatoes ) and increase omega3 dha, oily fish, fish oil, shellfish etc... Also, raw and unpasteurised ( dairy) and organic.
Do intermittent fasting > progress to OMAD > progress to include some prolonged fasting of 36-48hrs ( autophagy) , and massage all joints deeply and let blood flow and help release stuck toxins and scar tissue and deliver bioavailuble nutrinets ( hot and cold -- boold in&out, and hand deep tissue massage, massage ball, and shiatsu pillow.

Had my total knee replacement done 4 years ago and I've had nothing but trouble with it. Still walk with a limp and I'm going to get an Aspiration done on my knee on the 10th August

I suppose one would suck out the blood somehow and fill it with water?
it is a layer of clear fluid in real life I think
Joint capsules are filled with a clear, viscous fluid called synovial fluid.
@@baughhumbuglights8860 what caused you to get knee surgery if I may ask as an athlete

Sherry,
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video.
