So freaking easy to do right, took me almost a year to finally get the darn surgery done.
      If you ask me why:
1st: Appointment w/ your primary care doctor
2:Physical therapy for a month (spend tons of $$)
3: Primary care doctor for a specialist
      4: appointment for MRI
5: Specialist again to talk about MRI if the need for surgery.
      6: Specialist to do surgery
7: FINALLY!!! Surgery comes and the is the 💩 that they do. so easy right.

In young patients, this type of injury occurs due to a forceful action such as a deep squat. In older patients, less force is required to tear the meniscus, and symptoms may develop more gradually. In older adventurer patients, this type of injury is commonly due to taking an arrow to the knee.

He had been in karate for a while but didn't listen when they told you not to do that unless you really wanted to hurt someone. So I can't tell you if the cartilage grew back but I can tell you that I have full function and no pain. It did take about 10 years to get there, but really it only got irritated back then. A little rest and ibuprofen and I was good to go. I can't recommend getting this procedure highly enough. I was able to continue karate through my 3rd degree black belt. So I was using it through that period. Of course everyone's experience could be different, this was just mine.

Was told by the surgeon later that the knee would deteriorate over time and would require more surgery when in my 50s .At 59 now and limping with pain .

You can still have a relatively normal life if only a little bit of meniscus is removed. The more you remove, the more chances of having arthritis at an earlier age. When that happens, a knee replacement surgery may be required.
