Not great for women getting pregnant later in life, definitely helps perpetuate. Your risks of complications do sky rocket after this age, but honestly with the medical advances in technology, many people have healthy and happy babies after the age of 35. FUN STUFF. It's all just comes back to the false notion that women have more worth when they're young.

    Looking back I think it becomes quite obvious that Ned was always talking about "my wife" and not about Ariel herself. He was never celebrating her, but rather he was celebrating himself and the fact that he was able to be the first married. Marriage was centered around what it meant to him - rather than the relationship between two people. That's why he makes comments like "Unmarried at 35" because he views it as a goal post and classification rather than an organic consequence of two people feeling love. As uncomfortable as it must be for Ariel to watch people pick apart her cheating husband's behaviour - I think it's also really important that as many women as possible learn to see the signs. You DO clean well enough, you SHOULD split chores 50/50, your husband SHOULD care enough to take down his own video if you're being trashed in the comments, and he should not make comments like that especially not to other women. I hope the consequences of this scandal increase awareness about signs of cheating - and encourage more people to leave relationships where they don't feel nurtured.

Usually Keith gets 'angry' with the judges when they give him criticism, but it's all an act and he immediatly smiles and laughs, showing that it's really just an act. Ned started doing that as well (copy cat) but when he does it, it really isn't funny? It feels real. And when he just flipped that table and began shouting when his gingerbread got burned a bit, that really gave me a bad feeling. That biological clock comment is absolutely DISGUSTING. The whole biological clock thing is doesn't really exist, and such a sexist thing to say to someone. Someone's choice to reproduce or not is their own choice, and is private, and it is incredibly demeaning to insinuate that a woman will be "expired" because she doesn't have a child. Someone may not want kids, or medically cannot have them. Either way it is a tasteless and insulting remark. Ned was ALWAYS my least favorite, and it's clear to see why. He just annoyed me.

    • @madison2226
      @madison2226 Рік тому +56

      I agree that it’s okay for a woman to choose if she doesn’t want to have children and that it was completely inappropriate for Ned to say that to her. However, I do have to say to you that a biological clock for woman’s fertility 100% does exist (a “biological clock” exists for every organ tissue in the body). It’s harder for woman to conceive starting in about their mid to late 30s and becomes harder to carry to full term.
      Again, a woman absolutely does not need to have children to have a fulfilling life. But saying the biological clock “doesn’t really exist” is just simply wrong. People have definitely used it to be sexist towards woman, but they’re not technically wrong scientifically, but they are wrong in a human decency kind of way.

Where the hell was his common sense? Was it arrogance or just he was dumb? It was selfish and irresponsible. Even though it is messed he was cheating, he could have just kept it a secret instead of going out in public with his colleague at clubs, restaurants, and concerts. Plus, he betrayed his friends with who he started the business after leaving Buzzfeed. They became close friends because of these videos. Don't forget they have to go through legal bullshit because of Ned. It is messy. Trust is gone and friendships ended. Whether the Try Guys knew or suspected something doesn't actually make them bad people IMO. Because Ned put them all in a position where if they addressed it, publicly or privately, the entire brand and everyone's jobs (not just theirs) would be on the line. Everyone the brand supports, not just the workers but their families, could've lost their livelihoods and that's a huge burden to have on your shoulders. Ned knew that and that's probably why he felt comfortable cheating. He thought he was untouchable because he had everyone's income as leverage.

      But when Keith does it he’s smiling, laughing, and breaking that character in the middle of it (and he makes very dramatic so it’s waaaaay more obvious to others that it’s a joke). It’s pretty well known that Ned was the most competitive Try Guy so him getting mad in a competition when something goes wrong for him was a real situation the crew had to deal with. It was probably a lot harder for them to know if it was a joke or him actually getting mad in that moment.

    • @sorryoutlandish

      I’m not too sure if that’s 100% accurate. Keith gets very dramatic but we all know that’s just his “character” that he plays on the show and we all know it’s just one big joke. It also helps that Keith is just all around a very good person in real life so we know that him acting in that manner isn’t actually him. Ned is extremely competitive, that’s just kinda how he’s been known in the Try Guys, so him flipping out like that makes it incredibly confusing on whether or not it’s actually a joke. People can be literally hit by their partner and still not realize it's an abusive relationship. Human psychology is really complex and there are a plethora of things that are obvious to others and equally not so to a large group more.
    I see all kinds of various indicators of serious instability in lots of content creators, celebrities or politicians. There is no universal agreed upon threshold for when someone isn't okay as a person. There are so many excuses, delusions and lack of insight people have to various things.
    It's why they say hindsight is 20/20. When you're in the fog, you can't see ahead and as you travel, you don't often look behind you to assess how the journey has gone. There is also things like time sunk fallacy and the natural problem of when you're close with someone, who they are is a reflection of your self-worth. Who we associate to, who we praise, who we look up to feels like a reflection of ourselves. When someone close to us shows that they're terrible as a person, we feel betrayal because we had an image of them that they are not. It's hard for the human brain to contend with that and it's why in history so many were driven to effectively murder at feeling that whiplash. It messes with our heads.
    And no one is immune to this. Given the prevalence in social and legal matters regarding abuse (which is ANY behavior that is harmful to another person, the amount of suffering it causes is irrelevant, screaming at someone that they're worthless or beating them up are both abuse as is everything.) being far more common than anyone wants to see (myself included, because it's depressing as balls) it is highly likely that you've experienced some situation that was actually or is abusive and do not see it. Even though someone on the outside could easily hear some messed up story about something that is ostensibly not normal or rather not okay even if it is normal and you won't understand how messed up it actually is. Because humans adapt. We adapt to negative situations and stimuli because it's how we survive.
    So yes, the signs are there, but we're not taught to read them, because we have a big gate kept idea about what is abusive or shady behavior. Our standards for human decency are too low and we have a tendency to compete in the misery games for what qualifies for sympathy or even legal action.

      It's one thing to openly choose not to be monogamous. If both people in the relationship agree, there are no problems. But if you both agreed to monogamy and entered into marriage with the understanding that it would be monogamous, that is different. He didn't hold up his end of the contract. He betrayed her. They didn't have an open relationship.

    • @rebekahcreates
      @rebekahcreates Рік тому +1

      Yeah, but something that seems impossible can be missed for much longer than an outsider. They were together as a team for 8 years, and Ned was completely and genuinely in love with his wife pre-pandemic and babies. An affair would seem so impossible in that context that everyone (except maybe Nick, their production manager) would have totally missed the red flags

    • @strawberryfox8819
      @strawberryfox8819 Рік тому +2

      Sometimes only outsiders can tell someone's in an abusive relationship. You view your close friends very differently than an outsider would.
      This is a Strawman argument and incredibly disgusting.
