First off - there's no pity for Alex. Any sort of defense of her actions is laughable - she worked in probably one of the most progressive environments imaginable and even had an opportunity when her fiance caught her sexting with Ned to go forward without continuing their affair. She purposely made a choice and decided to treat her career with the same indifference that she treated Ariel's marriage. She chose to be the other woman even though she had so many outs presented to her. As for Ariel - if she wants to try and salvage her relationship with Ned, then that's also her choice too and she has to own it. The best outcome for her would be that Ned takes all the public humiliation to heart and realizes the harm he has caused everyone with his own selfish actions and then tries to become the man that at least Ariel thinks he can be. I really wish people would stop dredging this up because at this point the only person it is hurting is one of the victims, Ariel.

People can be literally hit by their partner and still not realize it's an abusive relationship. Human psychology is really complex and there are a plethora of things that are obvious to others and equally not so to a large group more. I see all kinds of various indicators of serious instability in lots of content creators, celebrities or politicians. There is no universal agreed upon threshold for when someone isn't okay as a person. There are so many excuses, delusions and lack of insight people have to various things. It's why they say hindsight is 20/20. When you're in the fog, you can't see ahead and as you travel, you don't often look behind you to assess how the journey has gone. There is also things like time sunk fallacy and the natural problem of when you're close with someone, who they are is a reflection of your self-worth. Who we associate to, who we praise, who we look up to feels like a reflection of ourselves. When someone close to us shows that they're terrible as a person, we feel betrayal because we had an image of them that they are not. It's hard for the human brain to contend with that and it's why in history so many were driven to effectively murder at feeling that whiplash. It messes with our heads. And no one is immune to this. Given the prevalence in social and legal matters regarding abuse (which is ANY behavior that is harmful to another person, the amount of suffering it causes is irrelevant, screaming at someone that they're worthless or beating them up are both abuse as is everything.) being far more common than anyone wants to see (myself included, because it's depressing as balls) it is highly likely that you've experienced some situation that was actually or is abusive and do not see it. Even though someone on the outside could easily hear some messed up story about something that is ostensibly not normal or rather not okay even if it is normal and you won't understand how messed up it actually is. Because humans adapt. We adapt to negative situations and stimuli because it's how we survive. So yes, the signs are there, but we're not taught to read them, because we have a big gate kept idea about what is abusive or shady behavior. Our standards for human decency are too low and we have a tendency to compete in the misery games for what qualifies for sympathy or even legal action.

Whether the Try Guys knew or suspected something doesn't actually make them bad people IMO. Because Ned put them all in a position where if they addressed it, publicly or privately, the entire brand and everyone's jobs (not just theirs) would be on the line. Everyone the brand supports, not just the workers but their families, could've lost their livelihoods and that's a huge burden to have on your shoulders. Ned knew that and that's probably why he felt comfortable cheating. He thought he was untouchable because he had everyone's income as leverage.
