A bigger steering wheel will act as a bigger "lever" over the wheels to make it easier to turn and less squirley. A quick release steering wheel may also make it easier to get in out of that awesome machine. Well done dude!!

You might want to check the width of the front end. Anything over 8'6" requires an oversized permit, signage and is only permitted on certain roads without escort up to 12'. You may want to check your dimensions. You have to measure from tip to tip of the widest point of the vehicle.

And I don't know how cause I haven't put much thought into it. Probably pretty rudimentary... Front fenders that are fixed to the wheels when they turn. Obvious paneling in the back setup in whatever fashion. But front fenders that move with the turning of the steering wheel sounds like a awesome visual piece cruising down the road.
      Also... The lighting is AWESOME.
However, hear me out, it should have more pointier agressive shaped headlights. Something elongated triangular shape. If that makes sense.
I'm so "kid in a candy store" over this build. Good job sir, good job.

Your home built reverse trike and mine are at about the same point. I’ll share some of my experiences and first ride lessons and maybe they can help you out.
    1. The width and length of ours seem to be very similar. Mine was very waspy until I added more caster to the steering knuckles. Might try that out! It can affect steering feedback though.
    2. Mine was overheating due to lake of airflow across engine. (Air/oil cooled bandit 1200) I have upsized the oil cooler and relocating it as well as using an aluminum ducting.
    3. Keep an eye on your lower controls arm and shock mount. Mine had too many twisting forces and bent my pushrod and lower mount. Working on redesigning it now.
You’ve got an amazing machine and looks like you did great work. It’s been fun building mine at the same time you were building yours and it’s awesome they have come along at the same pace. Maybe one day they will cross paths. Keep the vids coming.

You have some steering issues at the end of the video, the the wheels were tracking different when you turned... also you put alot of lip service to into tire choice but your suspension set up keeps the tires flat so you are not using the contact patch of the type of tire in use. If you had a lean angle of front tires when you turn then a bike tire is correct but the way your suspension is functioning the contact patch does not change and utilize the actual design of a bike tire so a tire designed for a flat contact patch would be much better. I think you will find that with bike tires like it is you will have understeer and the front end will push thru corners when you try to apply power... then again I only watched little parts of this video and got a bit sketched by the way steering seemed to malfunction at the end and the front tires weren't tracking the same. It was pretty obvious and made me fear for you and others on the road cause it looked as something broke once it took some sick on never ground...but what do know

  • @ferrumignis
    @ferrumignis 3 роки тому +1

Nice job, the hours put in have finally paid off 👍 One thing I'm not keen on is the steering rack being supported only in the middle with the ends unsupported; I can see hitting a pothole and having that mounting or the rack itself get bent. Bike tyres aren't ideal, you are getting a very small contact patch compared to car tyres and they will wear quickly. However getting car tyres that will fit those front rims that isn't some rock hard spacesaver tyre is going to be tricky I suspect.

Some sticky road tires all the way round, wrap body in aluminum, with small windscreen. Then add adjustable front wings on either side of nose, and adjustable wing for the back.
All in light of a little down force, to keep it steady at highway speeds, and a couple of cold air scoops on either side of main hoop.
One for intake, and one ducted into radiator for additional cooling to supply your fan with a positive flow of cool air. A nice set of tuned exhaust to go along with syncing carbs, and some high octane gas, will greatly improve performance.
As will sourcing a electric power steering, that you can adjust the sensitivity on, so that you can adjust the tightness, allowing for more stability at speed in traffic, are a nice twisty mountain back road.
Also indicator LED's on dash, so you know when flashers are on, and can shut them off after turns.
    Very nicely done
    PS
Red shows during daylight hours, but at low light times, such as dusk, dawn, and at night, not the case, and more red vehicles, have wrecks at these times, as other drivers can't see it, because it becomes basically black

SUUUUPER cool! Been waiting on this forever, so glad shes going now. I think she needs body panels and a wind screen, maybe just weld on aluminum and give her a paint job. She'd be even cooler if she had a legit enclosed cockpit. I think the front bike tires are gonna turn her better since car tires aren't designed to lean and bike tires are more rounded. A big rear is fine since that isn't really the part that needs to lean. Most of these that have tilt use an electronic tilt, but i dont know how well you can program and youd need to program an arduino or something to control tilt motors of some kind, maybe linear or rotary actuators.
