Brianne, you are an AMAZING EQUESTRIAN! I first saw you on The Ride to the Maclay TV Show... I predicted from the first show that you would WIN it... I was right! I was sooo amazed by your riding that I said that I would name my mare's first baby, Brianne if it was a filly or Logan if a colt, well Gia had a filly, and I have a Brianne, the next year I had a colt, so I have a Logan :) Keep up the amazing riding you do...you keep us all on point to strive for perfection! Rob Banks, Houston Tx
on the circut i ride they offer a class called jumper equitation. In this class they judge your stlye over the fences. There is no jump off. The judge decides who he or she calls back and based on that the judge then asks to see your flat. The combined of over fences and flat determines who wins
the equitation she competed in (junior), was only for 18 and under. She turned 18 a year after winning the maclay so she moved onto the grand prix jumpers :)
a friend of mine had a few ISHA shows w/ her.. and she is an amazing rider. She said that Brianne could get on the slowest horse and make them go fast, etc. She's amazing.
Yes. Her trainer is one owner of one of the best show stables in the country. She rides at Beacon Hill and is taught by Frank and Stacia Madden. Frank's sister-in-law is Beezie Madden, so she gets lessons from her as well. :-)
the nice thing about her ride is that it is so smooth and the horse and rider are a great match :)....and she stays in 2 point keeping off his back and stays on a rythmic canter...
well what i meant was brianne has moved onto the jumpers. plus you have to realize its hard to keep your equitation when youre jumping as high as they do
This is from 2004. If you are asking if horse Power (filmed in 05) is still on, no it isnt. And she sold Logan because she could no longer compete in equitation.
@DressageGirly1 If you watch the flat phase of equitation, their horses are in frame, but they aren't in frame during the jumping portion because it really isn't needed. I personally like my horse to be relaxed when I enter the ring. Not making sure he's in frame during the whole entire course, it just looks more natural. It's kind of hard to explain on here, but equitation isn't judged on just how you look, it's everything. Your style, how easy and effortless you make the course seem, (Cont)
@BeachHorses369 I showed a full-time lesson pony in 3' jumpers when she was 25. I can assure you, H/J horses' knees don't go out at 16 unless they are badly treated. I have a friend who's Holsteiner mare still jumps 3'6" comfortably at age 20. It's all about how they are treated, especially early in their training. Yes, former racehorses knees go out earlier, but it's a function of their racing careers, not the jumping.
Agreed, I know an 18 year old Arabian who's been jumping 4"+ courses for at least 10 years and still loves to jump! He's just now getting very mild arthritis in his hips, which is normal for a horse of his age even if he'd never jumped...
You are 100% right. And in this sport, it is incredibly rare to hear they "worked" up to this level. There are so many potentials out there that could be the next Beezie, but they just dont have the money. =/ As much as I spend in one of summer of showing ($5000), Brianne spends that or more at one competition. =(
1. You do actually use the reins, the riders are just trained to make it look like you don't. You know, invisible aids. 2. All the big eq. horses i've ridden have been surprisingly strong. Pelhams are nice bits because the two reins give the rider the options of making balanced turns with the snaffle, and they also get the leverage from the elevator. 3. Pelhams and similar bits most easily put the horse in the preferred 'balled up' eq. horse frame.
what i meant was that she was known during that time very well (obviously) and im not arguing that she isnt a great rider, because she's incredible!!! but i was just pointing out the flaws in her course, and possibly the political flaws of equitation (like stated earlier) and i dont know how much equitation you do but swaps and distances deffinately count in equitation
I know it isn't posting, I couldn't think of any other word. I realize what it is for also, as my trainer used to get me to do this before I had a super solid seat. However now the goal is to get my to be sitting in the saddle with a solid leg.
In the beginning, she was bouncing so high because all horses are incredibly bumpy when they go into the canter and she was trying to get him into rythem =P
@DressageGirly1 The basis of good riding is good equitation..most of the kids that show in big eq are the top junior riders in the world. Not to mention most of the TOP professionals won big equitation finals. The point of equitation is to look smooth, no shit they use pelhams so they don't have to yank on the reins. They have connection at all times, they're just such good riders that you can't even notice.
i think she knows exactly what she's doing. she has a great strategic plan that made her so successful in all these finals so i wouldn't start critiquing her much.
@stupidblond428a i compete in dressage too. & it isn't specifically equitation. i've actually got first level test one in front of me.. yes, rider's position & seat is a collective mark, so i concur to the fact that some of it is equitation. with that being said, it isn't fully judged on a rider's equitation on a dressage test. any dressage rider would know that. (unless, of course, you're riding in a dressage seat equitation class.. which i have ridden in, in which case you'd be right.)
Barbaro123456:Exactly. :) Even she wouldnt have won, everyone would have known her from Horse Power. But mostly people know her because she won all 4 equitation finals.
@wyldhorseb Well you dont always have to sit the canter and essibaly when jumping you can do either or! it just depends on how the horse is moving that day!
@BeachHorses369 They're only showing at 3'6"? Their knees don't go out...these horses are treated like ROYALTY at home and are constantly cared for...Logan is now 17 or maybe older and he is still doing the big eq.
This is flawless. Logan did swap in the last line... but everyone says she is hunched over and looks loose? Maybe she is 'loose' but you shouldn't be tight in eq. perfect eq ISNT shoulders back and don't move, eq is being at peace with your horse, and she was loose because she was sure of what she is doing. And when she leaned it was to open logan's stride. Sitting back and adding leg is driving. I'm sure she's a fine rider if George Morris pinned her first when he was judging her multiple times
wow i sooooo no wat u mean!!!! i do jumpers and like pata is a spaz but like wen i rly ask him to like settel and like trot a jjumo he is perfect! and he is makin me feel like i have better eq thn ever!!!! omg i looooooooooove the way she rides!!!! sooooo ufair!
I never said he was a push-button, I was just emphisasing the fact that she has a very experienced horse as well as, being a very experienced rider herself.
ellie00003: The people say nothing. They are VERY quiest so all the riders can concentrate. She sold Logan b/c she had no reason to keep him. He is an equitation horse. She is now out of juniors and into grand prix jumping.
i dunno if ur talking to me..but ill reply anyway..ive ridden some horses that are too bumpy to even sit the canter because its so uncomfertable and ive ridden incredible hunters that are so smooth that i can just sit there and enjoy the smoothness! however if your horse is way on the forhand going into the canter, it isnt going to turn out right and it is going to be bumpy and un organized
I actually don't think she was cross cantering. If you pause it with each stride then I think you can see the front and back legs in sync, but it is hard with the video. But I agree with the third jump
gizmosgal: I wish Horsepower showed more of her riding. Because the show made her seem like she was an okay rider b/c we didnt see any! She really is a fantastic rider though.
@eateetor 1. i never said i know everything about big eq finals 2. SHE WAS TWO STRIDES LATE WITH THE LEAD CHANGE. thats a big penalty, you can tell she was off just by the way he is cantering. he's unbalanced 3. i know its combined with the hunter phase, im not retarded. 4. dont try to deny there arent politics in the equitation. her scores were affected by the fact that she's brianne goutal.
@DressageGirly1 What's wrong with a horse being well trained? And equitation is more than just looking nice..you have to find your distances and make the course look smooth WHILE having perfect equitation. I do dressage and I've done a 3rd level test before..I can honestly say jumping is harder than dressage (in my opinion). My scores were low-mid 60's though haha
@DressageGirly1 Well dressage, the horses are required to be on the bit and you're required to have a connection. and for the eq horses, they just go in the bit that they go best in. and it's a snaffle..so it doesn't hurt them or anything. Plus the rider's hands are very soft, so in no way do the bits cause discomfort for the horses
no chelsea sold him as well after the maclay..to a amjor pony finals winner..olivia something i think not positive. and her selle francias (sp? xD) pinto is named Mon Gamin :)
AiLQT314: I do do equitation (won champion for my year-end), but it is at a stupid little local circuit. Anyway, I am just saying what I read from a book by George Morris. :)
@DressageGirly1 (Cont) how you present yourself in the ring, etc. In my opinion, I don't view equitation finals as being at the top level, although it is the highest you can go in the equitation. Being at the the very top is competing in the prixs and/or olympic level (in my opinion).
Beautiful and quite impressive. A shame for the swap, but it seemed more horse error than rider's. 11 or twelve (can't remember) was a bit long (you can see the stretch in the horse's legs) but it's very hard to have a flawless course. However it was covered up well because her body was slow and calm. She also didn't lean up the neck. Pure brilliance.
She wasn't counter cantering to jump 7? and a pelham is easiest for a hunter/equitation horses to go in. It makes the horse easy to adjust and collect back but also when ridden with a sift hand gives the what I guess you could call "freedom" to extend out when needed to. (:
Exactly! It is so stupid. People think Brianne isn't a good rider because she is rich, but she really is. For instense in this video, she has Logan round and in a beautiful frame. If you watch Chelsea Moss though, it is very sloppy.
AiLQT314: what do you mean if she wasnt known? She is KNOWN for the equitation ring and this was years..............ago. So how could they have known her? And this is equitation, not hunters so it doesnt matter.
wow i look up to brianne so much. everything she's done is just so amazing.
I find it funny people are complaining about her Eq... SHE WON THE MACLAY. and George Morris coaches her for THE OLYMPICS. SIT DOWN.
Super mooi gereden!
Het ziet er heel soepel en gecontroleerd uit.
Respect hoor! :)
Brianne, you are an AMAZING EQUESTRIAN! I first saw you on The Ride to the Maclay TV Show... I predicted from the first show that you would WIN it... I was right! OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!! great vid! 5*
She is my fav. Junior rider. I watched the road to the Mclays and i had a feeling she would win & make history. Great job putting it together

great round! and good timing to the music!
@BeachHorses369 I showed a full-time lesson pony in 3' jumpers when she was 25. I can assure you, H/J horses' knees don't go out at 16 unless they are badly treated. She makes it look so easy! I love watching her.
Thank you!! :)
its okay :P well wut i meant was all the big equitation is 3'6, maclay, WIHS, harrisburg, USET, etc
Wow, this was perfect!
holy freaking 93 in the hunter phase! it's always so inspiring to watch brianne ride ^^ teehee, i love this medal; so fun to ride in :D
Agreed, I know an 18 year old Arabian who's been jumping 4"+ courses for at least 10 years and still loves to jump! He's just now getting very mild arthritis in his hips, which is normal for a horse of his age even if he'd never jumped...
Hei NYgoat. Yes, Brianne Goutal is the famous rider from Horse Power. This was in 2004 though. So this round wasnt in the show. =]
You are 100% right. And in this sport, it is incredibly rare to hear they "worked" up to this level. ya she did swapp
but she also had a rail at maclay finals and won
so wutevsss
grace, whered u get this footage?
@wyldhorseb this is the jumper phase of the WIHS-they expect a more forward ride, both in terms of implusion and body position.
thanks for the clarification :D
she is such a natural rider! The course was so smooth!
In the beginning when the announcer talks, he says "in the WIHS Equiation Finals."
=P
-Brianne Goutal is known as one of the best equitation riders.
@DressageGirly1 The basis of good riding is good equitation..most of the kids that show in big eq are the top junior riders in the world. i think she knows exactly what she's doing. she has a great strategic plan that made her so successful in all these finals so i wouldn't start critiquing her much.
it helps them re-gain balance. Instead of half-halting to slow down and get a nice transition to trot, they do that and the horse collects nicley. =)
@stupidblond428a i compete in dressage too. & it isn't specifically equitation. i've actually got first level test one in front of me.. yes, rider's position & seat is a collective mark, so i concur to the fact that some of it is equitation. with that being said, it isn't fully judged on a rider's equitation on a dressage test. any dressage rider would know that. yes she is :) she owns several horses and competes at the grand prix level :D
she is amazing
She is my hero. I'm just starting to see her at Spruce now:D Good job.
Brianne is VERY talented. Yes Logan is a great horse but Brianne is the one who is telling him to collect/extend and where to go.
Barbaro123456:Exactly. :) Even she wouldnt have won, everyone would have known her from Horse Power. But mostly people know her because she won all 4 equitation finals.
yes, she did win this.

I never said he was a push-button, I was just emphisasing the fact that she has a very experienced horse as well as, being a very experienced rider herself.
@SCRIPTUNES In the equitation, it is more correct to ride to the jumps at a sitting canter. Just personal preference, that's all :)
Those 2 were always the perfect together. Is he still in the showing?
i got it off someone else on youtube..and just added music haha
yea, just please give credit and send me the link when your finished :)
ellie00003: The people say nothing. They are VERY quiest so all the riders can concentrate. She sold Logan b/c she had no reason to keep him. He is an equitation horse. She is now out of juniors and into grand prix jumping.
Ok i have a question... is she posting canter or cantering in half seat?
HunterEq92: 100k is nothing for a horse. Logan was sold for 725k. She HAD to stop equitation. She is no longer a junior....
Nope. Horse Power: Road to the Maclay was their 2005 show season.
limegreenpony: She now has Mon Gamin (a selle francias) Onira and Csar or Czar. (idk how to spell his name lol). She has 2 others.
i dunno if ur talking to me..but ill reply anyway..ive ridden some horses that are too bumpy to even sit the canter because its so uncomfertable and ive ridden incredible hunters that are so smooth that i can just sit there and enjoy the smoothness! however if your horse is way on the forhand going into the canter, it isnt going to turn out right and it is going to be bumpy and un organized

They dont post, it is something they do to re-gain balance and control. A lot of jumpers do it.
gizmosgal: I wish Horsepower showed more of her riding. Because the show made her seem like she was an okay rider b/c we didnt see any! She really is a fantastic rider though.
Logan is an equitation horse so she only showed him in equitation. She had other jumpers and a few hunters I beleive
haha. No I didnt, I got this video from piercemexx, but I think she got it off a website.
There is something called jumper equitation where they do judge your flat and posititon
Well done.. great rhythm!
yea a lot of equitation riders do that but then when they're over the jump they get their position down. i agree wat ur saying tho
I am assuming (b/c you are critiqing) that you are a better rider then her right? Have you won over 6 equitation finals? Didnt think so.
wow. that was incredible. so smooth, controlled... i'm soo jealous. i show equitation too, but at a lower level. :P
Omg! Was that at the WEF?
@eateetor 1. i never said i know everything about big eq finals 2. SHE WAS TWO STRIDES LATE WITH THE LEAD CHANGE. thats a big penalty, you can tell she was off just by the way he is cantering. he's unbalanced 3. i know its combined with the hunter phase, im not retarded. 4. dont try to deny there arent politics in the equitation. her scores were affected by the fact that she's brianne goutal.

@DressageGirly1 I don't know what to tell you..I'm not the one that decides what bits the horses use.
lol. I got the video from piercemexx Then I added music. I wouldnt be surprised if it was from a website...the quality was really good. =)
i love how her pony is so easy going
@DressageGirly1 Well dressage, the horses are required to be on the bit and you're required to have a connection. and for the eq horses, they just go in the bit that they go best in. and it's a snaffle..so it doesn't hurt them or anything. Plus the rider's hands are very soft, so in no way do the bits cause discomfort for the horses
mmm... i have this video.. O.o i think i uploaded it on some website? werid..
These jumps are about 3'6 or 1.10 m.
Wish I could find a horse like this to show at the adult level. He is just a dream. But he is no were near me.
no chelsea sold him as well after the maclay..to a amjor pony finals winner..olivia something i think not positive. and her selle francias (sp? xD) pinto is named Mon Gamin :)
I agree. I think Brianne is an awesome rider, but just because she is very well known doesn't mean she sould get any more breaks than an unknown
lol why would i block you. and its because i found the vid than..i didnt film this, i jus added music n kinda edited it :)
same here!!
This wasn't from Horse Power =P
AiLQT314: I do do equitation (won champion for my year-end), but it is at a stupid little local circuit. Anyway, I am just saying what I read from a book by George Morris. :)

she makes it look so easy! oh man what i would give to have my horse do lead changes like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Brianne Goutal, she's awesome. Logan is so nice. ;)
this was 1 year before :) (2005 she won)
it is rly rly hard to see cuz of Logan's colour!! haha i am not even sure..to me it looks like a crest release but i could be wrong.
How'd she do? I think i'm showing here soon. i hope
I completely agree! She also bounces a little bit.
oh yea i know shes not a junior anymore, lol she's riding Grand Prix with some of the top riders in the world. :D shes awesome!!!!

Brianne Goutal had the most style in the eq ring. We need another BRIANNE
