Same here -- and I actually enjoy riding out on "weather" days, light rain or light snow -- it's like you and your horse are the only two creatures on earth.
At least in my book this is the most perfect ride I have ever widnessed....such balance...a horse in total harmony with its rider...speed when needed-yet collected when neccesary...one almost thinks both are one creature...
Love this video more and more every time I watch it. Absolutely flawless. Each jump was so perfectly calculated hitting the center while still holding the eq. every time. What a wonderful rider and a fantastic horse. That isn't even mentioning the rain and the mud. Keeping it cool takes a truly spectacular rider.
I think that Beezie is certainly an amazing rider, but in my opinion this video is a testament (sp?) to how incredible this horse is. Granted, she rode it beautifully and made it look effortless, but Judgement was just.... I don't even think words describe.
horses wear pretty big studs in their shoes so it would be hard for the to slip even if they had jumped badly. Besides, people travel all over the world to come to this event, would be difficult for them to postpone :)
It was not that bad at all and I'm sure the horse had the largest possible studs in. Also, Beezie took great care in guiding her horse through the trip so that there were no slips.
Honestly its not dangerous at all if you take precautions. He purposefully controlled the stride and went at a walk for the hill. The horse also would have been wearing studs to have better grip. You're talking about two world champions. They know what they are doing.
I LOVE Beezie Madden! She is my role motel, and i really hope to jump like that someday 2! I also LOVE her horse ( Coral Reef Via Volo ) Beautiful Warm Blood
@RACEhorse499 Yah she has tons! I know she has the two you mentioned, coral reef, a gray one.and many more because she does show jumping for living, she has many horses to compete on! (:
Isn't he fabulous! He and Beezie were a magical team. Judgement's son, Zenith ISF is doing great at advanced level eventing with Gold Medal Olympian Leslie Law. Check out Judgement's Facebook page, the Iron Spring Farm Facebook page and the IronspringFarm website. Lots of great photos and videos. Thanks so much for your comments. Judgement says hay!
Actually, riders that function right usually have CORRECT eq. I'm not saying you have to have stunning eq, but it has to be correct. Beezie has correct eq, even though at times her back becomes hunched. That's not going to cause her to fall off. Just thought I'd say that, function follows form. :)
That's actually not completely true. Though I agree with you in that equitation is not always the most important thing, particularly in a show jumping course, TRUE good equitation is based on the fundamentals of riding. What judges look for (or are supposed to) in equitation: a straight back, light hand, heels down, elbows in, etc, are all basics that make you a more effective rider.
@GryffindorTable well if the horse become really good other people would love to have there mare bred to him so it makes for more future possible champions and MONEY!(:
@KateNQue Not to sound like a know it all but im pretty sure thats NOT how you collect and shorten your horses stride. Oh well I guess their proffessionals and they know what to do? right?
From Huner Jumper News "It is one of the most challenging events in the sport for both horse and rider, with a distance of 1100 metres, 25 jumping efforts and every natural obstacle on the ring standing between them and the finish line. Since the Nexen Cup Derby began in 2007 only one pair has mastered the course, only one pair has cleared the course, Beezie Madden and her great stallion Judgement." It's a 1.60meter class.
guys no one cares if you have met beezie or not. if you say you have people that havent met her are going to feel like crap. so stop bragging and enjoy the video. k? nuff said
I think another thing we don't understand is that no horse is the same, and every horse you ride requires different methods, and different ways of riding. There is no "right way". That's why it is so hard for us to judge a rider without knowing the history and training and type of horse. Some riders are able to pull of EQ, for instance, and some just can't because they have to focus more on what the horse needs for a clear round. That is what is really important.
So you understand then? That not-so-pretty rider won because she rode well. And that pretty rider likely lost because she doesn't have the neccessary skills that the other rider had (Or the judge had a preference). It's nothing against EQ riders, that's great that they can look so pretty over a fence, on the flat, exc. And some of them understand what real riding is, which is great. But there are many who don't. They would rather throw away their horse and show mistakes than move their leg.
I definatley agree with that. Exactly, it has to be correct. I know I'm not the prettiest rider, but I do know that I am effective and for the most part, my body is where it needs to be, my heels are down, exc. All I am trying to address is that, nowadays, so many teen riders are so obsessed with making everything about THEM look beautiful, instead of thinking about what the horse needs. Sometimes the rough and ready riders are the best ones. But yes,I agree with you. Just something I've noticed
Excuse me, but my body was in it's right position, and my heels were not up. The horse I was on was only 7 at the time, so that's why we were in 18's. I now jump him up to 3 ft at home. You don't know me, and if you know anything at all about horses then you know that everyone's situation is different. But I do know that even if my heels were up, I got champion on that horse and am good enough that 3 other people have called me personally to ride for them in mini trial and hunter shows. Watch it
I understand. I just get so annoyed when all people care about is their equitation, ya know? I know that equitation is important to be an effective rider. I just think that it pays off to be more expierenced in the "effective" or "training" field than the equiation field. A think that a truly talented rider can be effective, communicate with the horse, and STILL hold the EQ. Which is what Beezie is doing here.
I admire Beezie Madden because of multiple reasons. She believes in keeping Judge nice & calm throughout the whole course, doesn't let him gallop out of her hand, but knows how to move him up and hld him back. To me, she is the only rider that really tries to make HERSELF look pretty over the fences & equitate. There are too many riders that just lay down over the jumps just to get over them. She is a REAL rider.
Is it just me out does anyone find the sound of the horse hooves on that wet grass relaxing
Same here -- and I actually enjoy riding out on "weather" days, light rain or light snow -- it's like you and your horse are the only two creatures on earth.
he yeh
2:23 😳 I wouldn't be able to walk down that, let alone ride down it!
I do that every week after I ride. But for me it's dirt
And plus it was raining
How does the horse not slip??
@Alice Playz yeah I know that but I mean my horse slips on small hills with his shoes
Has there ever been something so perfect.....
good job Beezee Madden and beautiful horse!!!
At least in my book this is the most perfect ride I have ever widnessed....such balance...a horse in total harmony with its rider...speed when needed-yet collected when neccesary...one almost thinks both are one creature...
So flawless! Beezie rides so well!
They make it look so easy and effortless, perfect pair :)
Judgement, definitely one of my all time favorites, he is a special one!
WOW!! she makes that look so unbelievably easy... and in the rain too?!??! outstanding.
I think that Beezie is certainly an amazing rider, but in my opinion this video is a testament (sp?) to how incredible this horse is. Granted, she rode it beautifully and made it look effortless, but Judgement was just.... I don't even think words describe.
That horse is so beautiful, and the riding was incredible. I'd be far too scared to ride down that slope in the rain.
Judgement is an absolutely beautiful horse.
This course is epic! what an amazing rider...
to bad about the weather....absolute perfect ride! way da go Beezie!!! u rock!!!
that horse jumps like a boss they are beautiful to watch!
he jumps his heart out for her :)
I'm not sure if they should've ridden in the rain with slippery muddy grass and puddles if anything would've happened it would've been devastating
horses wear pretty big studs in their shoes so it would be hard for the to slip even if they had jumped badly. Besides, people travel all over the world to come to this event, would be difficult for them to postpone :)
It was not that bad at all and I'm sure the horse had the largest possible studs in. Also, Beezie took great care in guiding her horse through the trip so that there were no slips.
Carlee Hill I agree,
DAYBREAKandFREEDOM she said if something would've happened,
Honestly its not dangerous at all if you take precautions. He purposefully controlled the stride and went at a walk for the hill. The horse also would have been wearing studs to have better grip. You're talking about two world champions. They know what they are doing.
That horse is so beautiful when it jumps
what a hard round...with that rain..uffff, wery well done it.
such a good rider and such a good horse. perfection .
I saw Beezie at American invitational and she was amazing
She is absolutely amazing! But, how in the world do you remember a course like that?
I'm going to be jumping in the Nexen Grand Prix someday, I'll have to work hard but I just have to believin myself!
Breezier has always been amazing 😍
I LOVE Beezie Madden! She is my role motel, and i really hope to jump like that someday 2! I also LOVE her horse ( Coral Reef Via Volo ) Beautiful Warm Blood
same, i am very shy around people and much more comfortable with animals such as horses. but i do get along with people
ow and what a great and relaxed rider!
Beezie is really a great rider! Challenging course, but she rode it well!
she makes it look soo freakin easy, she is such an ispiration!
makes me wonder how people could ever say horse riding is cruel, that horse evidently loved that round!
I've seen Beezie warm and welcoming and also, a little distant. My guess is she's much more comfortable around horses than people!
This is just stunning. So controlled and precise. I'd like to steal the horse for my dressage mount. :)
That horse is Amazing!!
Beautiful.
incredible! I would not have risked jumping those in the rain, but go beezie!! (and Judgement!)
@RACEhorse499 Yah she has tons! I know she has the two you mentioned, coral reef, a gray one.and many more because she does show jumping for living, she has many horses to compete on! (:

we're in canada, you get use to it haha . i ride in the snow all the time
flawless.
They're sooo good! That's such a challenging course! Did they get first place? I think so, im just asking to be sure :)
Actually, riders that function right usually have CORRECT eq. I'm not saying you have to have stunning eq, but it has to be correct. Beezie has correct eq, even though at times her back becomes hunched. That's not going to cause her to fall off. Just thought I'd say that, function follows form. :)
what a ride!
Wow I absolutley can't believe she went ithout getting any faults.....wait I CAN believe she did cause Beezie is AMAZING!!!!
how many horses does she have anyway? ik this 1 and authentic, does she have more?
OMG that wet bank could you f*ing imagine going down that??!!
ooooo
what breed of horse is this?
@ 1:06 it stops and wont let me continue to play it. =[
@Court1Elbow Its not a song its the combination of hooves cantering in the mud and rain

not really, gone down ones for training level that are the same slope, and about 20 ft longer!
@ponyfriends99 he's 19. Same age as me! LOL
whoooooooooooooo
They need to let the horse breathe!!!! Inbetween jumps!!!! People need to stop running them until they cant run no more!
Wow. That is what I call stamina. Both the rider and horse are true talent!
Such a relaxed ride. This is like clockwork. Single and easy. :)
Damn. zero faults.
This horse is perfection.

She's just, just amazing
HOLY CRAP. that incline was SO steep! still, she made it look easy :)

Wow!! What an intense course!!! It just further confirms why I've always loved Beezie so much. :)
I was holding my breath the whole time, and also counting the strides (trying) 😂
So satisfying 😯
guys no one cares if you have met beezie or not. if you say you have people that havent met her are going to feel like crap. so stop bragging and enjoy the video. k? nuff said
She's also one of the few top riders that has a good lower leg over fences, many other top riders just let it go
Beezie Madden is AMAZING
Only ever displays excellence. Horse is so well cared for all throughout the trip. Love the horse, love her!
Omigosh💖💖💖😍😍😍
