    DIY 32 oz Cup Enclosure: • How to Make an Easy In...
    Required Items:
    twine
    scissors
    wire cutters
    kitchen canister (5x5x9)
    gravel
    faux succulent pot
    silk flowers
    mesh
    hot glue gun
    hot glue sticks
    soldering iron
    silicone
    plastic snap-on grommets (not the exact ones I used): www.amazon.com...
    Conversely, you could also just use the soldering iron to make tiny ventilation holes all around the enclosure. That would work for a mid-size or bigger spider. Keep in mind that a very small juvenile and/or fruit flies could escape from them.

    For 6 or 7 dollars in the food section of Walmart you can buy a big plastic container that is taller and wider than all the containers that you showed and the bonus is that it comes filled with cheese puffs. So once you eat those you basically have a big free enclosure. I have a bold jumper and he seems to love his giant world that i made for him out of it.

    I’m so happy today because my first two spiders arrived via FedEx yesterday, two regal jumpers. I have one lovely black boy with teal chelicerae (my Luke) and one girl in light tan with pretty striped patterns (my daughter’s Pumpkin). The spiders are both adults, so pretty large. I had two enclosures waiting (12x8x8”) with front locking doors and large areas of aeration holes on two sides and on a removable roof panel. We added reptiearth coconut soil and then created cute succulent gardens (artificial) and have sprays of fake orchid blooms hanging down from the ceiling panels to give the climbing areas and hiding spots. I sprayed two walls with mini water sprayers each day and added temp/humidity monitors. Yesterday I put little condiment cups on the floor of the tanks with a mealworm in each to try to entice them. By an hour ago, the worms will still there so I worried. Just now I poked holes in the condiment cups’ walls and attached them to the top of the enclosures by paper clips to make the worms more visible. Miss Pumpkin immediately clambered over, climbed into the cup and grabbed a worm. She’s still feeding. My boy looked nervous at my activity and retreated into his orchid. After I waited awhile and he hadn’t moved, I couldn’t resist taking my forceps and holding another worm right up to him. He backed up a step and stopped, so I moved the worm right up to his face. He reached right out and took it from me! I’m so relieved and I adore him. Anyway, thanks for reading all of this! You seemed like someone who’d understand the joy and relief. All the best, Laura

    Excellent! I have a head injury and I have a hard time doing some thing if I can’t visualize it all in my head before I started so I may think about it, but I had no idea. You pushed me and I think I can do it now. Thank you!

    That little canister seems to work pretty good. I wished somehow that the lid was different so the bottom could have substrate.

    But that means you have to take the bottom off every time you feed, so there is more escape places.

      You could drill a hole in the top for a drop-chute, and plug it up with a cork.

    I used your video for reference to making my first enclosure. I will say the side grommets killed me 😭 I had to do the twin on the inside and outside of them. let's just say I burned my fingers with hotglu quite a bit.

    Hi great video, just wondered with the tulle was it just normal dress type tulle nothing special? Also for the grommets, I assume you could use the type that offer eyelet in curtains

    Would this enclosure work for a praying mantis

    • @JumpingSpidersUSA
      @JumpingSpidersUSA  2 роки тому +1

      That is a great question, but I sadly just don't know. I keep beetles... and spiders... and fish... and cats... and dogs... and I've had tarantulas, lizards, hamsters, and mice and other manner of little floofies and fluffies... but never mantises.

    • @JumpingSpidersUSA
      @JumpingSpidersUSA  2 роки тому

      It's not required, no. Oftentimes, prey just digs down in it anyway.
