The original owner of this guitar brought it into our shop and we did a video about it December 30th of 2019! The guitar played great and the owner was a real nice guy. Emerald City Guitars got a good one! I did put new strings on it at that time and it was the first time it had gotten restrung in 10 years. You can still find the video we did on our channel. Thank you for your awesome content!
Just perfect, when the player demonstrates the guitar...AND vice versa. Ok enough typing, gotta listen again without interrupting myself. More, more, more just like this. Thank you.
Agreed. Could also be however they’re processing the audio in their recording/video editing software and how UA-cam’s compressing it. The video of the burst with the dumble amp comes to mind. Love EC’s videos for the stories and history. They’re very well made visually - but I think any multi-hundred-thousand-dollar “magic” tone that’s heard in the room isn’t translating to UA-cam. That, or it turns out I subjectively don’t like how vintage gear sounds when recorded. If I ever get to record with any I’ll run a test :)
@@luaoliveira4515 I'm sure the sounds of this guitar and a dumble sound great in person but listen to this particular video, it sounds terrible. It's the stereotype ice pick shrill strat tone that builders and pick up winders have been desperately trying to avoid for 50 plus years. I do not think it's the recording, I believe the dumble is too bright for this strat.
It feels like the mic is distant. Reminds a little bit of presentations recorded with an on-board camera mic if you get what I mean. See here: ua-cam.com/video/9Q9UcvPU234/v-deo.html The cab is not miced. At least not visibly. And the harsh sound is do to the completely wrong settings. These guys have great gear but don't know a thing about it. When did you hear John Mayer sounding harsh?
Solid playing, but as other have stated, this sounds very spikey. Whether it is mic technique, choice, or wonky amp settings, I don't know. A dumble style amp shouldn't go from clean to spikey OD like that to my ear. May just be the low output 50s pickups too. Sometimes they just need the guitar tone on like 6 or 7 to compensate as they usually are more clear than a modern pickup.
@@Bairov While I'm a 5 to 20 watt amp guy, it doesn't really matter if it's 100 watts. You set input gain on your recording gear according to the volume of the amp. Even so, gaining large amounts of volume, with respect to lower wattage amps, typically requires more than 10 times the wattage. Basically 50 watt amps and 100 watt amps only have a small volume difference. Its the volume vs headroom relationship that is so different.
@@maxwellblakely7952I just listened again through some nice over ear headphones and still feel the same. It's fatiguing to me. I usually like the treble ifrom guys like Jerry Garcia, but that is usually played cleaner.
I was born in 1959 and had more parts replaced than that strat. She is beautiful

That is one great guitar/amp combination. Fine playing.
Whew that thing is lively!
Great playing!

What a Guitar! What an Amp! And such a great guitar player! 🔥👌🎸
Not sure how they mic the amps on this channel but it always has an odd spikey sound no matter what gear is being used.
Example?

@@seanbrust6674 yes, but listening to anything in person is always far superior to listening to a recording of it.
Yes, using the wrong microphone (SM7B).

wow! that sounds great!!!!!!!!
Great video, love the tone and playing! Cheers
Nick kicks ass!!
Nick can really rip! It almost got me over wondering how Aaron Heibert would sound with that rig. Almost...
I'm more interested with how Trevor would sound on it to be honest. These guys are great but I love his playing
Aaron bought it, check his Instagram.
Neck is insane!
This is the best shirt on the internet.
Am I the only one that likes the video before watching it?😅
Love your intro ! Bet you NORM wishes he had a son like you…lol…lol…and you know I’m serious….well done, and great guitar….
🤔
Norm’s got Lemmo what does he need a son for LOL
@@philvaclavik6890 True 😂
Sweet guitar...I prefer the tone of the `59 slab board persuasion. The playing, however, bloody excellent.
What happened with the truss rod acces?
Never seen that on an old one.only heel access
Totally killer!
What was the first song he was playing, anyone know?
Instant like just reading the title
what's up with the master at nearly 10 and the OD volume at nearly 0? lol what was going on with that dumble
I run my budda like this for lack of headroom on my 18 watt. This amp is 100W. So they probably had volume issues
Though we don't know if he's even using the drive channel
@@Bairov what does this have to do with diming the master?
@@Bairov its a 100w ODS, the master on 10 is insane.
They should dime everything but the bass and let her rip.
Everyone please use headphones for this video

It's a 100W amp

I really like how trebly it sounds. This dude is also playing pretty aggressively, where most of the demos on this channel are much softer.

Maxing out your mic, again. The YT compression kills your audio. Throw my laptop a bone, yo.
Awesome guitar, but the tone is horrible. Not sure if the problem is in post, or if the amp was just eq'd wrong. I'd call this one a swing and a miss.
Probably the Dumble bright switch. I like it, though ❤
You hipster millennials . You love Boomer stuff . Admit it. No room for slacking with that tone.
Sounds terrible. Sounds really bad honestly. The ice pick is terrible.
