You can whine about the cost. And complain about the hype. But, imho, that is holy grail tone. It can’t be duplicated with a pedal, or a digital reproduction. Heavenly!
I don't think I'm alone in thinking I'd be working to pay off my debt if I worked in a store like this, I'd have to live to a thousand or more, these guitars are pieces of art
You wanna hear what this level of amazing amplifiers & vintage guitars really can do? Come on out to Nashville, there's a handful of jazz juke joints around town. Some of the best guitar players in existence out here that are on another level then any signed artist. They don't want all the crap that goes along with being a big label artist and do just fine playing around town EVERY night. Talk about authenticity...DAMN. Like next level Larry Carlton, Jay Graydon (ex: Polynesian "Peg" scorching guitar solo) mixed with Duane Allman, Gary Moore, WICKED good. That amp & buttery Stratocaster would be put to work!!!
Yes, there is a slight low-end flub probably due to mic placement. Okay. But live in person? Vintage low-output Strat and Dumble amp with maximum sustain and fidelity possible from a couple of 6L6s? It doesn't get much better. Warts and all, this is 100% dripping, oozing, caramelizing in tone.
Strange choice to engage the bright switch in the overdrive setting, especially with a strat. Also, most of the 80s ODS were voiced to be used with a dumblelator, which trims off the harsh sounding treble frequencies. Without it it´s very fizzy.
It's out of my league, but that's how market works. I'm glad I'm already satisfied with way less expensive gear. Anyway, if you REALLY want (above many other things in your life), work hard/smart, save money and go for it!
I love how every time a Dumble is featured everyone always rags on how it doesn’t sound good. When in reality none of us will ever be able to afford or play through one to really know for ourselves lmao 🤣
I’ve seen several guitarists who play them live. I’ve seen several guitarists who play Fishers amps live. I think I like the Trainwreck amps better. The best tone I’ve ever heard had been out of a blackface super reverb so there’s that too.
The fact that I will never have a Dumble has nothing to do with this guy that can't get a decent tone with such an amazing amp and such an amazing guitar.
Pure guessing here. But people are starting to ask around 50k for excellent condition maple strats. Custom colors are 70+. Mary k ash body gold hardware are over 100k. But if you don’t mind a refin and rewinds then you can get a 57 for around 10k maybe less
I know they’re really expensive. But just how much would that Dumble actually sell for? I mean when I first heard of any vintage guitar selling for half a mil I was shocked. Is a Dumble at the same level of “Holy Grail” status as a 59 Burst? Or a 58 Flying V?
I heard someone say, "imagine if Jim Marshall only made 300 amplifiers, in total.." Then you can start to understand why the Dumbles have reached such insane prices. Plus, SRV into John Mayer into our crazy inflationary economy of today for rare and fine collectibles, factored in.
Oh yeah, all of it. That present roundness and predictive attack are HUGE in a live band mix. That's for real life musicians, not clips. Imagine that fat cut in the mix. Killer man.
Bingo. It's hugely beneficial to have some hair and fizz to stand out in a mix. Most of that is probably due to the Strat's pickups and strident, bright maple neck - early pickups in particular were very hairy, trebly, kinda chaotic winding smoothed over with some Alnico III rods, called it a day. An uncompromising maple neck exacerbated this even more. One of history's happiest accidents that miraculously worked. A Dumble has been a historically composed, smooth, fat, juicy, sustain-y amp. There miiiight be some hair on this model as they too were inconsistent but I'd still argue that the Strat is the hairy beast being heard here all day long
Tbh, and 100's of thousands of dollars later. This amp and many others are not designed to sit in front of it and play. These are performance amps and the frequencies that seem raunchy or harsh are critical in a live band mix. Super killer man. Oh, you'll want them "artifacts" when the heat is on. Their also designed to the players touch & that might not be you. Sweet guitar playing btw!
At first I was like gee, how rude. But, yeah. You absolutely nailed that one. That is the best sounding Dumble demo vid ever made. And Mick is fantastic. And there’s Blue!!!
Better yet, join BLM so you can shake down big corps for millions by claiming racism, discrimination, then bow out like most of BLM “leaders” did invest in real estate.instant vintage guitar collection
Well, I might be the only one to say it but that guitar into that amp, negative. Sorry but I did not like the tone. I would have preferred the 57 into a Deluxe instead.
@@jamesemerson4102 ODS's aren't "voiced for Strats"? Since when? A few guys, like John Mayer, might disagree. It, however, would help if the guy in the video did a better job setting the amp up ahead of time- I'll give you that much.😂
@@samroney6644 ODS amps like Robben's are not voiced for strats. Robben played a strat only for a very short time and all of the iconic ODS tones are with humbucker guitars. Find me one iconic tone that is a strat and an ODS. They always sound better with humbuckers man, and John mayer plays a steel string singer not an ods. Completely different circuit. The ods is a much stiffer, HI-FI clean. It's not that friendly to strats. I have an extremely accurate ods clone built with vintage transformers. They still sound okay with strats but humbuckers have always been where they shine. Larry carlton, robben etc. always play humbuckers or Tele's.
it's got a really unpleasant low frequency static/rumble. Kinda sounds like the cone is ripped or something. that amp wouldn't work at all for metal and if I were going to pay hundreds of thousands for an amp, I wouldn't want it to be a one trick pony.
Every time this guy tests a guitar it sounds harsh !!! The guitar has a Tone Knob !!! Use it !! Test the guitars by playing different styles ! Otherwise a great Stratocaster
As always Aaron's playing with another perfect choice of material shows this great guitar at it's best.
Thanks Rick!! Appreciate that!! Glad you dig it!! :)

Killer riff at the start of the demo.I gonna have to try that one!
Everytime i see a strat on this channel, instant like as I know Aaron is going to kill it
It's a beautiful guitar!!
I have a 57, I want that 80s DUMBLE OVERDRIVE..
Neck position is beyond!

How is he playing on Standby? Is this just how Dumble configured these amps?
Aaron must have a cot at Em. City Guitars.
LOVE that Strat! Not so much, the amp.
Agree!I'll just save myself a hundred grand or so and buy a nice Showman and a dumble pedal..hehe.
TONE 🎸🎼
What’s up with that light blue Tele in the background?!?

I have a Certiatone OTS mini and a strat I built pretty cheap, I should post a comparison video.

Great guitar, interesting tone.. Not my favorite Strat tone at all though.. Really overhyped amp imo.
