If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.
Dad's strategy seemed to work.
true but at what cost though..
Yeah the cost: they dont have an good realationship. I think he sayed that in a video
@@lando2519 worth it. It helped the rest of us. Hash tag one for all
Could’ve done the same strategy in a better way
Gotta love someone being a total piece of shit his whole life, only to pretend like it was apart of some bigger plan
You give people way too much credit / benefit of doubt, this isn’t & wasn’t some elaborate plan his dad cooked up to ensure his son would have drive - The guy just didn’t reinforce his kid properly & that lead to a to a deep desire to dominate his fathers legacy with his own
Instilling a “I’ll show you” mentality in your child isn’t the greatest or healthiest source of motivation either
“Could be going the speed of light, still moving too slow.” I can relate to the standards.
When Alex realizes he’s getting the Itachi treatment. “I need you to hate me”…..
Most guys can and probably do need to have a dad like that because it's a man thing. But the missing component is the mother. She takes the sharp edges and rounds them off.
Keep in mind, part of this interview he talks about his girlfriend/wife being like his business partner. There was an emotional void that wasn't initially present. But after losing it all, I think he was surprised to see her loyalty and compassion. He's a very lucky man. His wife is a treasure beyond price.
You moved the goal post yourself. That's your dad's lesson to you. Tell him congratulations, his lessons helped.
he didn't move the goal posts, he just achieved his goals and then set new, bigger ones... lol
nah, you should listen to whole story. its a bit sad, his dad almost pushed him to suicide (almost). his father ruined their relationship i think.
@@momofro1819do you know his dad? Or are you just basin that on his side of the story? I don’t like to form opinions when the other party isn’t there to defend themselves. The first guy always sounds right until the other party speaks. Take it with a grain of salt.
@@CabinetFramingUK Im almost certain your just saying that to sound more noble than you really are. iv seen your type
No? His dad was a nut. Listen to Alex's videos
Such self awareness 💯 Be proud of yourself, Alex 💪
Not really he hadn't he didn't think his dad once in this video. He should be kissing his feet
Middle eastern dad. Yup no wonder you’re such a good salesman!
Very true
This is really sad. My dad's approval has been everything for me
Single father was in Germany many , have you ever visited Germany before?
Looks like your dad did a good job, you are very successful!
I am grateful that my parents are the opposite. If they know I’m working hard they will congratulate me. My mom is a lawyer and consistently tells me she wishes she was as smart as me when she was my age. She didn’t have UA-cam shorts though 😎
Reinforcing your gains and encouraging you to be your best. Great mother! Parents worse nightmare is not that our kids won't be successful ,but to be happy and content. That's success for me as a father of 4. Love them all for who they are. With all their potential and faults, to overcome challenges and persevere and thrive under whatever makes them hole and happy. Will push and encourage, help them till my dying breath but always will be proud to watch them grow.
Participation trophies for all!

The affirmation of a father, or lack of it. It can destroy you or it can propel you.
Now that you're prosperous in terms of wealth. Are you also prosperous in your marriage? Your parenting? Your mental health?
The lack of a father's affirmation had huge affects on me and thankfully I feel like it is propelling me in my real estate business, but it was ultimately the affirmation of my father in heaven that made me whole.
Alex if you see this you know what im talking about.
I was raised by a single father and I too am experiencing this right now in my life. Aproval turned into angry but I have recognized this and am continuously working on how to control this to become a beast
Heyo Alex! Thank you for the videos!
I would rather have this option than a single mother. And it's statistically proven.
Don’t underestimate anger and hate as motivators, they can be useful tools to get you places
Honestly I think all dads are like that
Single father was in Germany many , have you ever visited Germany before?
Perfectionism is crippling.
Single father was in Germany many , have you ever visited Germany before?
Unquestionable success is the key word
The most successful people are driven intrinsically by their shadows.
Use whatever stokes the flame….👏🏽
Single dad should get some appreciation that's pretty tough to do.
Single father was in Germany many , have you ever visited Germany before?
That’s co I’m a single dad it has not been easy doing what I can to be successful than my father has a single dad
This is why men be having issues, this is not good parenting, or a good example of a father. Father need to give love as well. A healthy balance.
I hope the relationship with your father is better than it’s ever been.. curious to know what your relationships like now!

You can't ignore that he was a doctor!!!!
I was raised by my dad as well with very little influence by my mother. My childhood was good. I had lost of sex in high school as I was allowed to have girls spend the night. However my dad was also very conservative and no drugs were allowed.
Hmmm...Middle Eastern!!? ...okay, well we are still proud of you Alex.
Your Persian fan
Me and you have the same story brother,
Couldn't post my speech too much pain for youtube to handle this is my ace up my sleeve as it is yours it's our story brother
Great Dad knowing your potential. It wasn't that he wasn't proud. He wanted you to push yourself and be your best self. My father was successful and pushed us. Wish he was around to thank him. Know I push my kids to be better than me as I surpassed my father. My hope is they surpass me, not that they have to make more but become who I know they can be. Parents love.
Listen to the whole story. This wasn’t his dad pushing him to be better. It was abusive and toxic as fuck. Alex got extremely close to killing himself because of it.
I love Alex's humble brags. "My goal was then to make more than my dad in his whole life, and when I did that..." 🤣
Bet if he had a kid during that time just like his dad he would be he dad

Lewis howells
Single dad explains why Alex is now a Giga-Simp LOL.
I hope you’ve been able to get help with that insatiability

Never fill that hole
Well... your dad clearly did an amazing job the way you turned out
Because of or because in spite of?
Not Necessarily. If you become a great parent is spite of your abusive parents that doesn’t mean your parents did a good Job.
@@lowfyeradioabusive is a little strong. He hates his dad but doesn't want to give him any credit for turning him into the man he is..
@@user-nj1zu2nf1xlisten to the whole story before assuming.
I would disagree. He spent 30+ years living his life for his dad, to prove to his dad. That's not good. Prove to yourself. Luckily he enjoys the outcome. I realized if I lived for my dad, I would've been miserable. Bc those were none of the things I wanted to do. And I would've woken up 40 years old having done nothing I've wanted and only what someone else wanted.
A Dr. that doesn't speak English and has only 1k $. CAP

Gues what, you became a successful man. Now thank your old man.
BRO HES IRANIAN WHAT
Does anyone feel bad for Alex’s dad?
Came here poor, worked his ass of as an immigrant to provide and give Alex a very privileged upbringing.
Despite all of that, Alex shits on him all the time in public because his dad didn’t agree with risk. It’s kind of sad. You can do almost everything right as a parent and your kids can still hate you.
He should have believed in his son’s business but he didn’t, now he’s attempting to apologize. I would have respected his father more if he didn’t apologize for actions and he didn’t ask for gratitude. Real fathers don’t look or ask for gratitude. Real fathers instill their sons the desire to surpass himself even if it means being hated by their sons until the day they die.
@@user-sb8cm1un1y
Alex is a beast and deserves to be absolutely applauded for the hard work and success he’s created for himself, but something he doesn’t talk about is he grew up upper class, his dad is probably a multi-millionaire from being a doctor. Alex’s backup plan was the inheritance from his dad’s millions, and if all else goes to fail, Alex could crash in his comfortable house he grew up in. This is very different to people who if they fail, they have to live on the street.
I completely agree you should be supportive, but I think his dad was being more skeptical than outright disapproving, because ultimately, his dad would have to take responsibility of the failure with his own money.
Sounds like his dad was similarly treated and maybe his dad before him. Cycle of abuse kind of thing. Good for Alex to recognize it and exit that stupid game.
Single father was in Germany many , have you ever visited Germany before?
Congratulations bro you found out your dad wasn’t god.
So your Dad gave you the motivation to become successful…And you think that wasn’t the plan? Your Dad is very smart and you got played to become successful
His father was the real alpha
Son should be grateful
In terms of success fathers that have reached some form of success always surpass mothers in the sense of creating systems and thriving financially, everything else is what the mother is for
I’m gonna assume based off the comments that a lot of people here would rather be rich out the wazoo than have a good relationship with their parents 😪
So I just realized ur son making you proud is better than them making themselves happy
Steroid cycle
Why not?
Daddy issues create millionaires. The problem is,you didn't live your life. You lived the life your dad told u to live. Impress your parents if they've been good to you, but that's it. Afterwards be everything YOU wanna be.
