If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Gotta love someone being a total piece of shit his whole life, only to pretend like it was apart of some bigger plan
You give people way too much credit / benefit of doubt, this isn’t & wasn’t some elaborate plan his dad cooked up to ensure his son would have drive - The guy just didn’t reinforce his kid properly & that lead to a to a deep desire to dominate his fathers legacy with his own
Instilling a “I’ll show you” mentality in your child isn’t the greatest or healthiest source of motivation either

Most guys can and probably do need to have a dad like that because it's a man thing. But the missing component is the mother. She takes the sharp edges and rounds them off.
Keep in mind, part of this interview he talks about his girlfriend/wife being like his business partner. There was an emotional void that wasn't initially present. But after losing it all, I think he was surprised to see her loyalty and compassion. He's a very lucky man. His wife is a treasure beyond price.

The affirmation of a father, or lack of it. It can destroy you or it can propel you.
Now that you're prosperous in terms of wealth. Are you also prosperous in your marriage? Your parenting? Your mental health?
The lack of a father's affirmation had huge affects on me and thankfully I feel like it is propelling me in my real estate business, but it was ultimately the affirmation of my father in heaven that made me whole.

I would disagree. He spent 30+ years living his life for his dad, to prove to his dad. That's not good. Prove to yourself. Luckily he enjoys the outcome. I realized if I lived for my dad, I would've been miserable. Bc those were none of the things I wanted to do. And I would've woken up 40 years old having done nothing I've wanted and only what someone else wanted.

He should have believed in his son’s business but he didn’t, now he’s attempting to apologize. I would have respected his father more if he didn’t apologize for actions and he didn’t ask for gratitude. Real fathers don’t look or ask for gratitude. Real fathers instill their sons the desire to surpass himself even if it means being hated by their sons until the day they die.

Alex is a beast and deserves to be absolutely applauded for the hard work and success he’s created for himself, but something he doesn’t talk about is he grew up upper class, his dad is probably a multi-millionaire from being a doctor. Alex’s backup plan was the inheritance from his dad’s millions, and if all else goes to fail, Alex could crash in his comfortable house he grew up in. This is very different to people who if they fail, they have to live on the street.
I completely agree you should be supportive, but I think his dad was being more skeptical than outright disapproving, because ultimately, his dad would have to take responsibility of the failure with his own money.
