When Glenn Hall(the guy in net)was asked about the Bobby Orr goal,he said,”I always tell Bobby he was up in the air for so long that I had time to shower and change before he hit the ice”.
Outside of Gretzky and Howe, Orr is to me the best player in NHL history. I could go on and on about him for a long time. Be hearing more about him in later videos and I'm looking forward to it.
The Rocket was one of the greatest. Ove to me deserves to be in the mix I mean in an era where goals are not easy to come by he scored over 50 six times. Lindstrom was really good for a defencemen. Roy as a goalie was a generational talent. Pavel Bure changed hockey. I don't remember a lot of skate work on pucks before Bure and today it's almost a basic skill for players.
This is the year I got hooked on hockey as a kid in Boston. Bobby Orr will never pay for a drink or a meal in Massachusetts. And he is still a "regular guy", this is why hockey is so great. I always thought Buffalo blew their chance at a cup when thet had Rick Martin and Rene Robert along with Perreault-The French Connection was a great line
borisdarlink1 kzin They were a great team, but the philly defense was great, Bernie Parent was coming off of 47 wins, and not to mention the depth behind the LCB line. I wouldnt say they blew there chance, just an uneven match up
Bobby Orr was the Geatest player in history, he was defenseman and had stats like a forward, Terry O'Rielly once said " I was braking the right wing and heard someone skates cutting up the ice, turned around and saw Bobby" tremendous strength in his legs.
It was these years that had gotten me into hockey in Massachusetts along with many in New England. Because of The Bobby Orr era Massachusetts constructed many city and town rinks.
What an exciting season for the Blackhawks and a wild last day of the regular season with the drama of Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers battling for that last playoff spot
It is kinda funny that all Orr's goal did was put the finishing touches on a sweep, but it was still a huge win for the Bruins since it had been 29 years since their last Cup.
Clarke is already there, Rick MacLeish was drafted in 1970 and will soon make his debut. Philly are on their way. Couple of years before Barber arrives.
You need a Leaf magnet at the top of the board keeping track of the number of years since they were in the Stanley Cup final. Just change the number every year 😉
From 6 to 21 teams in 13 years? Jesus. The NHL certainly knows how to overcorrect things. That aside, had Orr been able to stay healthy, I wonder if it would have been possible for the Bruins to be a dynasty similar to the Canadiens, Leafs and Red Wings before them. They certainly had the talent to be good for a long time.
4:03 Actually, I think the whole 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4 thing continued until the next year. Boston #1 had to face Ken Dryden's #3. If only they went 1 vs 4, Bruins might not face the Canadiens until the Finals and may have had enough time to figure Dryden in the meantime. I wonder why they did it in the first place. The whole 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4 thing. 8:27 Ahhh... alternating. I've wondered about that. Why did St. Louis get home ice advantage in 1968 and 1970 Finals?
Clark Wilson the Blues were one of the favorites, they were the conference champs. And the team that eliminated them in the finals 2 years in a row missed the playoffs. They had that cup until Bobby Orr did Bobby Orr things
Lebby 1074 Were you even alive during the first 3 years of the original expansion? Because if you were , you would know that not a single team from the Western Conference wouldn't have even made the playoffs back then. Every Eastern playoff team was far, far better than any team in the west and if you disagree with that all I can do is laugh.
I always thought Orr was tripped, or at least he skated over a stick blade or something else he didn't see, and the momentum prompted the aerial. Orr was known for downplaying goal celebrations.
The amount of times these past two episodes he's called Booby Orr, Gordie Howe makes me cringe. IMO Bobby Orr is the second or maybe even the first on the all time greats list.

Great comment!

Don't forget Lemieux.

I also rank Howe and Gretzky above Orr because Orr's injuries limited his effectiveness and he was partly responsible for that.
Orr saw Howe and Gretzky play, but he said Lemieux was the most dominant player he have ever seen, so case closed.

Same for me in Vancouver. I hated the Bruins later for "letting" him go, but it turned out to be scumbag Eagleson who screwed Orr and the Bruins.
Thanks Shannon!
Orr is my favorite NHL player of all time!
One of my proudest moments was going to Boston two years ago on holiday and getting my picture with the Statue of Bobby Orr outside TD Garden

Bobby orr leads the Boston Bruins to the 1970 Stanley Cup he is the greatest player of all time
If there was one player who could compete in the current NHL and still dominate, it would be Bobby Orr
His play in the '70s is like an answer to a "What if?" one of today's well-rounded stars played in the '70s. Orr was ahead of his time.
Agree. I would have liked to see him play in the 80's against the Oilers to teach Coffey how to dominate at both ends of the ice.
He would be even better, because today we could actually fix his knee and we could see how good he could be with 2 functional knees
What an exciting season for the Blackhawks and a wild last day of the regular season with the drama of Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers battling for that last playoff spot
Bobby Orr is the reason I became a hockey fan.
It is kinda funny that all Orr's goal did was put the finishing touches on a sweep, but it was still a huge win for the Bruins since it had been 29 years since their last Cup.
Shannon !! my first time on the ice that season lol ..... I became a Hawks fan then i was 4 lol

Orr behind the net to Sanderson too Orr Bobby Orr Orr for the Boston Bruins have won the Stanley cup
The Turk Derek Sanderson had some of the quickest hands in the league at the time.
Can’t wait to meet him on September 7th

As of 2022 55 years (54 seasons)
2:45 Jagr could've done it if he had played a year earlier in 1989 and then played one game in the 2nd half of the 2019-20 season.

This is almost the end of the flyers not winning
3:33 Shannon has said 'Gordie Howe' when he meant 'Bobby Orr' two videos in a row.

Really hope the jersey in the thumbnail is this year's Winter Classic jersey.
Are you doing a video on Ondrej Kase resigning?
“Boston winning a Stanley cup... doesn’t happen often enough.”
>video about the last time the Blues made the final
yesss finally
Rocky Farr sounds like a football player.
Add the Stanley Cup to the other 4 trophies 🏆 that Bobby Orr won
No Seals magnet?
I wonder is Scotty Bowman still St Louis' coach. He will end up in Montreal won't he.
Bobby Orr should have paid to send Noel Picard's kids to collage for being the guy to trip him and make that goal memorable.
At this point, I just feel so bad for the Blues. I knew they choked in the playoffs, but this is next level choking
Can't choke if you aren't the favorite or never had a lead in the series
Clark Wilson the Blues were one of the favorites, they were the conference champs. And the team that eliminated them in the finals 2 years in a row missed the playoffs. They had that cup until Bobby Orr did Bobby Orr things
Bobby Orr only scored one goal in the finals. it was a memorable goal but only one goal. the Bruins in total beat the blues.
Lebby 1074 Were you even alive during the first 3 years of the original expansion? There definitely was too many tie games in 1969-70
I always thought Orr was tripped, or at least he skated over a stick blade or something else he didn't see, and the momentum prompted the aerial. Orr was known for downplaying goal celebrations.
I was kinda hoping you would gloat a little on the fact HOW Mtl lost the playoff berth against Nyr, considering you don't really like Habs.
The amount of times these past two episodes he's called Booby Orr, Gordie Howe makes me cringe. IMO Bobby Orr is the second or maybe even the first on the all time greats list.
😊
2 OT games in the entire playoffs what a boring playoffs year
We only had 10 this year, kinda disappointing compared to 2017.
2017 was an overtime madness year.Almost broke the record for the most OT games in the playoffs.
1962-63 had 0 overtime games in the playoffs
One was game 4 Pittsburgh vs Oakland the other was Bobby Orr 's in game 4 in the final vs St Louis
Orr is better than Gretzky
Most overrated goal in hockey history it wasn't game 7 it was a clean sweep why is this goal so big again? Not even top 10 in my opinion.
Best hockey 🏒 picture ever taken however
