Beautiful! A way to "cheat" and get the drawer the same level as the outside is to put a thin piece of wood inside the back. Stops the drawer from sliding in to far.
Very beautiful box you made! I just want to share a small tip for using felt or other fabric in projects like this. I have made couple of boxes with felt lining on the inside. The felt settles down very nicely when you cut a piece of dense cardboard to match each interior face and glue the felt to those pieces, wrapping the edges of the felt to the underside. Then glue the pieces to the box. This way the corners come out nice and tidy and don't unravel over time.
Hi, would just like to say that it is refreshing to watch someone create a piece, such as yours, without the assistance of Festool & Co........So many so-called amateurs on here these days have an inventory of tools etc that is just so unrealistic for 99% of people who enjoy the pleasure of wood. Your approach brings it all back to reality. Many thanks for your inspiration.
I really enjoy how you combine nontraditional materials together and make them synergize so well. Resourceful and classy. Great build, cheers from LA, CA, US.
Killin' it bro! Making your own way in this crowded craft is no small thing, hats off to you. Thank you for such a well rounded project, from wood shop to youtube.
A tip about cutting screws shorter - as on your brass handle. If you can find the right size and thread, put a nut onto the thread of the bolt before you cut and file the raw end. As you remove the nut, it finishes the bolt thread cleanly, making it easier to screw into the handle without cross-threading.
That was a beautiful job on the box in this video. I'm very interested to start making bandsaw boxes, and your video was a joy that watch and was a really good learning experience. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great desk tidy (caddy, here in the US). I've been considering building a few for myself and family. I like your design elements and may be 'borrowing' a few of them! Well done!!
I just saw that outtake...I laughed at first, but then thought.. Damn, that could be dangerous in a workshop! You don't need things scaring you and making you jump, when you have so many dangerous and sharp things around you!
+Happy Wife Happy Life haha I have two in the shop, they're always useful! I'm in the process of sorting out my dust collection using your tips by the way! Finding reducers and adaptors is doing my head in!
Rag 'n' Bone Brown it’s a right pain getting all the connections. I used a combination of Amazon, eBay, screwfix and my belt sander to taper edges to get them to fit. Cloth tape helps too! One thing I’ve noticed is that the drum that collects all the dust fills up much quicker so I’m guessing it’s working.
+Happy Wife Happy Life I actually bought the same drum as you but am having to return it as it won't fit where I need to put it... had to invest in a different air tight box
That, in my opinion was a superb and beautifully built project Keith and thanks for uploading it. I do wonder if epoxy was the best choice of adhesive for the felt? Not any criticism. I’ve just not used epoxy that much, but when have, found it to be very unforgiving when repositioning. Loved this upload Thank you.
The eagle eyed viewer in me tells me top.you used to round the corners is a WD40 lid as I have one right here :) Great video and peice of work, cant wait to see the channel grow further, the more revenue that comes in from YT the more morivating projects can become to wack out weekly.
Nice box. Well done. Instead of planning and chiseling the front to match the drawer, just put a stopper behind the drawer so it doesn't go all the way in.
Hi Keith, when did you make this bandsaw box?this is the first time I have viewed it,you did a great job making it,and the design is top notch too,its nice to see you are getting orders for thing's to make, and nd you are definatley gaining more experience each time you make thing's, the box definatley gets my thumbs up,take care and stay healthy and happy
Keith that’s blooming brilliant mate, just need to ask what podcasts are you listening to in the background ?, always engrossed in viewing your workmanship 👍👍👍👍
Hi Keith where do you get your hardwood from bud and really good build. Watched your first the other day n that was good aswell. Nice on sorting the blade drift 👍
Got me thinking, do you fancy doing a vid on blades. Number of teeth, quality, price etc. I have a cheap table saw which struggles with thicker pieces of wood and leaves burn marks and I'm wondering whether upgrading the blade would make a difference but I wouldn't know what to. Just a thought :)
+Ali Dymock thanks Ali nice idea but I've never really used anything other than a combi blade with around 30 teeth so I'm no expert on that. Lower tpi is best for rip cuts maybe try that?
hi great job with the box looks great I have a question I also have a Charnwood bandsaw it's the 12-inch so the one down from you I've only had it a couple of week what I was wondering is do you have a problem with the blade once you've cut curves with the blade it won't cut straight again it's almost like zigzag could this be because it's just the standard factory blade that came with the saw did you have this problem any advice greatly appreciated
+Christopher Pipes could be a number of things - it'll either be blade drift from too high a tpi blade, a bad quality blade, not enough blade tension or bearings not set close enough to the blade.... check out some bandsaw set up vids on UA-cam and if you suspect it's the blade get one fromTuffSaw - not expensive but great quality blades
@@RagnBoneBrown i was about to suggest Tuffsaw for great blades and advice from Ian, but glad to see you already buy from them! Great box... I've just ordered a 3/16", 4tpi for my Record bs 400 as I'm getting into bandsaw boxes : )
Could you do it without that expensive band saw? I have dream to make things like that but I have no money. This is my dream. I love your videos. After long time I invest in same table saw. As first tool My story is sad but I don't want to tell.
These type of boxes can also be done on the scroll saw. just do them in layers and then after you cut the layers all out then you glue them together! ua-cam.com/video/L3EOwvfDbUw/v-deo.html
+Jacqueline Lewis yes although I have a bit of a backlog of orders at the moment. Send me a message with what you're looking for and I'll see what I can do 👍

+Miikka Granlund great tip, thank you
Neat idea. I restored a small 50 year old box and replace the felt about 6 months ago.. Next I'll use you suggestion.

Walnut and ply looks great with the red felt. Nice job!
I agree, good contrast...
Mahogany
Yes sorry I did mean mahogany... doh
+Stuff I Made thanks Geoff. Looking forward to watching your foam cutting machine - I have a list of UA-cam videos as long as my arm to catch up on!
Lovely job. Those bandsaw boxes take a lot of hours!

+Iam Lonefrog thank you! It's just the beginning really, I've got a looong way to go before I can make a living, but it'll be fun trying to get there
@@RagnBoneBrown You got there though!!
A fine looking box Keith and now I've learned a bit about bandsaw boxes. Great video chap
Lovely and the red felt is awesome and one of my favorite colours!!!
This is my favourite thing I've seen you make! Absolutely stunning work!

I've used flocking in the past on my bandsaw box draws, you can buy cheap kits on eBay, it's easy to use and I get great finishes 👍
+Jamie Ollivant may try that in future, thanks
Nice build Keith and thanks for the bandsaw blade tips.

hi brown this box is a exceptional job and as to be a 10/12 from bob in derby
+bin diver bob thanks ! :-)
Luv this box!!! 🤗❤️
It looks great :) The Plywood is a great idea and looks really nice against the Mahogany ॐ
Nice work , just a bit of a tip , use Baltic birch plywood instead.

Keith, have you still got this bandsaw and after using it for a few years, would you recommend it? Would you buy it again, knowing what you know now?
Yeah it's been fantastic actually
My dad had an air compressor and it used to make me jump all the time! 😅
hi look's very good where did you get the stamp from
think i jumped higher than you when compressor kicked on LOL
lol. I have had the air compressor scare the crap out of myself a few times!!!
Awesome!
