I have just done my version of this idea. My wife will love this for a stocking filler. The grain I chose on the lid using the reverse flip method is just lovely . Thanks so much for such a simple idea. This is probably one of the best finished products I have made. Christmas giving is so much more enjoyable when ideas from kind individuals like you make it so much more enjoyable. Thank you. Stay safe.

Considering you first made this leaf box ten year's ago and decided to go ahead and make the same one again, just goes to show how beautiful it was back then and still is now!!!.
As soon as my wife saw this leaf box she said " Wow that's really beautiful I'd love to have that"!!!.

A little late to the show here, but I just wanted to say how gorgeous this is! I just got into woodworking 6 months ago, but I'm tryout to learn as much as possible. At 51 years old, I got a late start. Maybe I can one-up you with a maple or oak leaf. Like on my deathbed, perhaps? 😊

Really the hardest part of woodworking is having the right tools for the job. I had one of those spindle sanders but for the cost I didn't think it was worth the workshop space, mainly because it was too slow. For internal shaped work I ended up using a router with a quarter inch collet and profiling bit so you can follow a template and make multiple sections exactly the same before gluing them together. If you've got any corners you can always chisel them out afterwards..

a little tip for ya.I'm a scrolls guy. This is what I do. Before you affix your pattern on to the wood first apply the top of the board with blue painters tape and affix your pattern to that. This way you just peel up the tape and the pattern comes off. The glue on the tape will also keep the blade cool and lub it.

Your content is top notch. It saddens me that you and a bunch of guys I follow feel the need to keep “defending” the amazing tools you have.. you would never defend the tools if it was just a saw and a hammer, because that is what you have... and yet exactly like you said, you have acquired these tools for over 20 years...so the heck with guys that complain and say “it must be nice” “I wish I could have a CNC”. I just feel bad for you guys...

Grant Etherington I totally agree with you and I almost never worry about it. But occasionally I do a video aimed at beginners and that’s when it needs to be mentioned so they don’t get intimidated. When I’m building purely for me I pull out all the stops and don’t look back. Have you seen my Mountainscape Cabinet video? ...Perfect example.
