One important thing is you can't use arts from classes from the same country as Master arts even if that class is leveled up sufficiently. For example, if you're using Zephr which is an Agnian class, you can only use arts from Kevesi classes such as swordfighter or Heavy Guard as Master arts. Basically if youre on a Agnian class you have to have Kevesi Master arts and vice versa. Skills don't seem to have that limitation though. So you can transfer skills freely as long as you level up the class on the character you want. You can tell where a class is from by looking at the top right of the class icon. Black symbol is Kevesi and white symbol is Agnian.

Ah so basically if I'm using a kevus faction character like landz and has an agnian class equipped I can only use the opposite arts of the factions right?
@@thegamingsockmonker3629 Yea so if Lanz has an agnian class equipped then his master arts (the left side arts) can only be pulled from keves classes that he's leveled up.

Just want to thank you so much for breaking this down for a noob like me. I'm on the lookout for a good RPG and XC3 has been on my radar. I've been reading up about the various game mechanics and systems to try to grasp the basics and while there is lots to understand, I feel like I'm slowly starting to make sense of things. The class system certainly makes much more sense now.
Still unsure as to whether or not to take the plunge as it is a really long game, but I've read so many positive things about it. Watch this space, I guess! 😄

I actually bought the game yesterday after months of debating because the late game combat footage looked so complicated compared to the first game lol but the thing I didn’t know is that this game literally holds your hand in the beginning and it becomes so easy to understand, this video in particular adds to the simplicity of it!

This is just how JRPGs are and some of the UI things I have to just accept I need to learn through youtube videos like yours that the tutorial did not show (or may have shown briefly but it was easy to miss) lol

I think this game is a little more complex than the 2nd Xenoblade game but at the same time it is still exciting and new to embark on a new journey on a day it was released. Any recommendations on who's fighter should stick with?

Hi, great video! Does each character have a class that works better with them or is it just about skins, for example is a noah healer better than a taion healer or do they have the same stats ( not looking at arts or skills ) ?
My Taion is rank10 tactician & rank10 strategos, chose strategos but dark Banner & overfall is not available in arts selection

That is beacause Strategos is an Agnian class
on the top right in the classes menu there are rankings for each individual. Does any of it really matter?
The rank means how easy it is to level up and share the class with others, a rank C character could maybe not even have the class unlocked by the time you're rank 5 with another character that has S rank
But I don't understand about master arts, it says I only can use the opposite faction, but I can't set always, there's another rule to set any skill?
I wish you covered unlocking classes. I don’t mean recruiting heroes but unlocking their class after you recruit them. If I am same level it takes me 3-4 levels to unlock one class. I can get 2 classes before my party is too strong to unlock anymore until I find stronger enemies.
Unlocking classes works a little different but the main points are that once you complete the hero quest and a character is issued the class officially, you start the unlocking process.
After that, unlocking the class for others that don’t have it is influenced by two things: the character’s affinity to the class (which is noted by a grade A through S in the upper right corner of the class “banner” as you look at it) and fighting monsters of the appropriate level.
The affinity changes depending on the character, for example, in Noah’s starting class he has a high affinity (S grade) so he will naturally unlock the class quicker (if applicable) and after unlocking it, will be granted a bonus in CP from battle. Every member on your team will have a different affinity affecting the speed of unlocking and leveling each class respectively.
The second main point more for just unlocking classes on different characters. The only way to unlock the locked class on a character is to fight enemies of your level or greater or 5 levels below your level. So if you are unlocking classes on a level 10 Noah, you can only fight things level 5 or greater for it to count towards the unlocking of classes.
Also, make sure the class you want to unlock on others is actually participating in your battles. And the more people you have as that class, the faster everyone else will unlock it too.
TL;DR have some one on the class in battle (heroes count too), check the affinity of a class on the character you’re working on and make sure the enemies you fight are the right level.
@@matthieucartwright This was just what I was looking for, I have Taion with only 3 classes, after the ethel quest I understood it was probably because I goofed around with the healer classes and now I am too overleveled to unlock more for him, thanks pal
I’m level 47 and still do not truly get the class system. It’s contradictory for some heroes who are paired with main character. For example Taion and isurd. Euphie and Ashera and Noah and Ethel. All from the same country but if you can’t use there master arts once they have levelled up wtf is the point.
How to get past level 10?
Where are these sd quest to get higher class levels?
