I watched this about 3 months ago and applied many ideas...now when guests come on..they say "it's so cozy in here". ✌🌠
best comment ever!
That’s awesome!

I’m the same way just getting started omg I wish I found this months ago she the best of what I’ve seen she simple 💕💕💕
As someone who worked in furniture industry for over 10 years, please note - most furniture stores do NOT have warm lighting. This is important to be aware of since color looks different depending on your lighting. So if you are shopping in cool lighting and then bring the furniture to your home with warm lighting it can look very different. I’ve seen furniture pieces that look brown in one lighting and then green in another.
Amazing tip! Thank you 😊
Could I shine a warmer light onto the furniture in-store?
That s why furniture/deco/clothes look great in a shop: the lighting enhances most of the time the items, to make you buy them. Once in the natural light, or with a warm light, it looks either normal or in the worst case... cheap! Plastic can even look pop and cool in stores but in the daily light it s just aweful. Be careful: in winter we tend to buy materials that look good because of non natural light! And when the spring and its bright light comes then we regret. My advise: to bring warmth just think about... the lighting and a winter cover on both bed and couch. That s it. Think about the spring cleaning then! It has to stay easy and pleasant. Not a moment where you regret to have bought cheap decorations that look bad in the real light!
You can buy light pads, which can be used to see items in different lighting.
Nice tip. Thanks for sharing.❤
1- lighting💡
2- Plants🌱
3- Rugs & Textiles
4- Texture
5- Drapes
6- Art works
7- Mirrors
8- no echoes🎙️
Thankyou.
Thanks !
I've got all of that. But I would caution on too many mirrors. One well placed mirror suffices.
I would say books too. And more specifically: fancy mirrors. It doesn't have to be vintage but an expensive looking mirror is a very nice touch in a bathroom
Thank you for short cut to list
She hit 3 good senses: sight, touch, and hearing (removing the room echo). Don’t forget to try hitting other senses!
Smell: scented candles, oil diffusers, or even putting a teaspoon of vanilla extract in the oven (safely) will make your place smell heavenly ~> cozy
Taste: having candy/chocolates in a decorative bowl or container, and for the bakers and extra people (like me) surprising guests with fresh cookies 🍪
Baking really warms up the place...literally 🥧
Yes! Thank you!
Can't have candles as my smoke alarm goes off. It's low enuff 4 me to test it😿
Food isn't decor though. 😁
@@sarahholland2600 a candy dish can be decor though, right? Cookie jars too!
This might work if the jar/dish is see through.
@@kritikitti3868 I can see that issue. Maybe an essential oil diffuser or wax warmer would be better?
I like citrus or spicy scents during cold weather. They just smell warm to me!
My dog is maniacally laughing at the thought of me having pillows and blankets on furniture on display.
hahaha yes my dog also thinks that everything around the house is literally just for her (sort of true)
Shanae Smith my pet rats are also laughing like little witches.😩😂
So is my cat😂
😂 😂 😂
My dogs are the WORST about pulling all the decorative stuff down to snuggle with
Great tips! Can I suggest one more? A nice scent. It really makes a good impression when you enter a space that smells nice.
You are 100% right! In my matching blog post (linked in the description), I wrote about the importance of fragrance. For some reason I decided not to put that tip in this video 🤔😂
Great addition, such as an essential oil diffuser or burning sage. To please the rest of the senses, can add comforting music and comfort foods/tastes such as herbal tea!
Yes, just make sure it’s not too strong otherwise it’s an irritant 😅
So true, especially when you have pets in the home!
Lemongrass
While watching this video I: tidied up the room, lit up 2 candles, turned on my twinkle lights and the electric fireplace (just the flames), put on fuzzy socks and announced to my hubby “I made the living room cozy!” ❤️
Amazing! What did your hubby say? :)
Posh Pennies tee hee - he said he thought I was asleep because I got so quiet cozying it up 😂
I like the sound of the electric fireplace! (Want one) 😉
It would be wonderful to have a follow up to this video with a video that actually implements these tips to a room that was previously not cozy to cozy.
Wow, this designer is spot on with her tips and suggestions. Having spent most of my working career in the interior design profession, I completely concur with her ideas. I was very pleased that she placed "lighting" in the number one, top position! I have stressed this major design element with all of my clients... essential in creating the proper mood for a room.
Thank you so much Steve!
I agree. Lighting is everything. Well, maybe not EVERYTHING but very important. 😊
I never saw the point of lamps my entire life… after I wanted her videos and a few others.. I was like OK I’m going to get some nice lamps. It’s LITERALLY changed me and now I’m obsessed with the soft lighting at night and it’s made our home so much nicer
@@samanthaloomis2988 Right? *Never* overhead lighting.
Another tip I'd add is to paint the wall with the right paint. I love colors similar to clay or the mocha ish looking color. The right color walls to me are everything.
Thanks for sharing the tips.
Totally agree! 💫
So entirely true! You are a smart woman to remind us to keep your tip in regaurd!
I’m learning this
Not so great for keeping plants alive though. White reflects light better.
i recently painted my greenish beige house (not my choice, lol) a nice, warm white (swiss coffee by valspar, in particular!!). not only does it make the house look much more modern, but it also makes it look SO much cleaner and cozier
The best tip you gave was not wear your shoes in the house, and provide socks or slippers for your guests. I wish this was normal in the United States, at least where I live.
It's YOUR home.. YOU make the rules! I have never allowed smoking in my home.. and since the coronavirus thing has made us more aware than ever of germs.. I no longer allow people to wear shoes in my home either. It's bad enough when people track in dirt.. I don't need them to track in germs as well.
Being Scandinavian, I cannot wrap my head around people walking around their home in outdoor shoes. It's just so unsanitary
I have not had shoes in my house for years, started this with my new house 7 years ago. Moving out of our rental, I saw the trail of dingy carpet where we’d been walking. There was push back, but my daughter and son in law started this at the same time, none of us could imagine keeping our shoes on indoors. I have really light carpet on the stairs and upstairs, it stays clean, the floors in general stay clean. I do not want mere dirt but also, ecoli, c-diff, lead tracked into my house.
@@tfrnich Normally the people who live there kick their shoes off as soon as they get in the house. It's the friends who come for dinner.. or for a Sunday BBQ and run in and out of the house with their shoes on to use the bathroom, etc.
In Asian culture, it's considered rude if using shoes in the house. It applies both to home owner or guess. However the tips above is very useful.
I’m already confused with all the “styles” and here i am feeling happy for something that makes sense to me. Cozy is no.1
Floor pillows would be a great idea too for extra seating without taking up too much space and they’re beautiful 😊
Absolutely agree re. floor pillows! 💞
We just got a couple of poufs. The cats seem to enjoy them 😍 Hoping this virus thing blows over soon so we can have people over again for Happy Hour Fridays, etc.
Keep coming back to your videos - the best advice on UA-cam.
At last someone agrees with me, I hate lights in the ceiling especially those in the middle. I love table lamps.
Same I hate it when people put my main lights on no bitch I have some fairy light over here 😂👌👌
I HATE flush mount ceiling lights! I don't mind the more decorative semi-flush mount.. in fact I installed a semi-flush mount chandelier in my master bathroom and it is gorgeous!
Me too!
@@startaurus13 lol
@@PoshPennies great video thank you. Could you do a video strictly on lighting a living area (and potentially other areas), if you are looking for ideas. Its a challenge for me and there is more to it then just getting some lamps and candles I've discovered. I have 2 lamps (warm light) and ceiling mounted lights in a family room combo kitchen in a town house. It needs more but I'm not sure how to proceed. How do you know when you have enough? A video just on lighting a room adequately and keeping it cozy wpuls be great. I'm hitting that bell!
All the rooms that you showed were so pretty and inspirational and cozy. Thank you
This video is very informative, there is a clear train of thought, and the fact that every segment is followed with the illustration is extremely useful. New subscriber here, keep up with the good work!
Thank you so much, that is wonderful feedback! ♥ I'm glad you found it useful!
Thank you! I also think colors are important.Warm accents of color can be inviting to a space.I'm off to buy some plants. Not only do they give a warm, friendly, healthy feeling but there are certain plants that purify the air we breathe, which is amazing.
Agree on both points! 💫
Let the cozifications begin!
I think designers would shut this idea down but I luv luv luv fairy lights. Instant cozy.
So happy to discover yet another great decor channel (also love Mr. Kate, Alexandra Gater, XO MaCenna, Living to DIY, Alejandra Costello, The Sorry Girls, HGTV's Chip and Joanna Gaines, etc.). This video breaks down "cozy" so well with great examples and editing, and your setting there is very cozy too. "Coziness" is so comforting and healing!
Thank you that's so kind of you to say! ♥
Also check out Kinwoven, both Rebecca and Sharrah. :-) And, House of Valentina. :-)
I actually like cooler lights for my living room because I don’t have a window in there lol but everywhere else definitely a little warmer
Yeah if you don't get natural light I feel like a daylight bulb is the ideal, especially if it's a room you work in or do any crafting stuff. You don't want to be squinting in low lighting! But at night I mostly just use the lamps with warmer bulbs, and keep a daylight one for when I'm working
It's HOT in Central Fla, I like white/blue lights.😻
One important point she missed is the effect the colour of your lightbulbs have on your paint colour. If you have blue walls, and 'warm' yellow light, you are asking for mud. Try to match the temperature colour of your bulbs to the colour of your walls.

100% especially for people with poorly lit rooms bulbs at about 5000k to 6000k or daylight white are ideal. It's great to add some additional lamps with warm white though for a cosier option.
Man, absolutely one of the best videos, definitely not like others I've seen. Thank you so much.
It's great that you emphasized the fact that it's not just about the interior design styles that we choose, but rather the feelings that we want to evoke. Would love to your suggestions about how to create different feelings at home with interior design
Thank you for all the tips, especially the information on the light and strength of the lights. I always get lost on this point! It was extremely useful, clear explained and easily to adapt to my home. Thanks!
I’d love to see a video on incorporating a mix of family photos and art work in living/family rooms and hallway entry.
Me too!!!
Your voice is calm and cozy feeling. Thanks for the tips
Yes!! Thank you !! You are so on point with the echo in a room and you are amazing thank you
Great tips!! Another one I would suggest is adopting a cat from a shelter. Or a dog. Of course take care and love them. They aren’t just accessories.
1 thank u
We took a dog from a very bad neighbor. He's a big ole slobber monster and love him sooo much.
You need to be careful with pets and plants, though - lots of love plants can be toxic to cats and dogs. The big animal protection charities have listed of what is/isn't safe, or you can go with faux plants. I have a mix of faux for the stuff I love the look of (or that's on/near the windowsill my cats sometimes go on) and then most of my live plants are herbs/berries, etc - edible for me and nontoxic for them 😁

A pet makes a house into a home every time. My preference is for cats, they're fascinating, friendly, loving, mostly cuddly but not always and curious about everything
Agreed. I just moved into a new apartment and I really want a cat, I'm just trying to take the next step into asking my landlord.
I love a Minimalist style but I also want my home to feel cozy! I agree lighting is so important and cozy rugs! And plants! I love cactus because it's hard to kill them 😅 Thanks for the tips! 😍
Thank you Sara! 💗 I love cacti too because I don't kill them, unlike succulents which are supposed to be easy but I can't seem to keep them alive 🤣
It's really about what YOU love and what speaks to your heart.❤
Practical, easy to implement immediately tips. Delivered exactly what the title described = cozy. Thanks !
Thank you!!!! 💗💗
Lighting
Plants & Flowers
Rugs & Textiles
Throw blankets & pillows
Slippers
Cozy textures
Drapes
Hang artwork & mirrors
👍🏼
Drapes, I put up another set of curtains hung piggy back to the ones already there both go from the top of the window to the floor it makes the room absolutely cosy it really well insulates from the cold through my single glazed windows, thick or double curtains makes a room feel much more upmarket.
I absolutely adored this video! Thank you for breaking down these wonderful design elements, your tips are wonderful!
Love this! So many tips I can apply to my new space💕
Thank You Soooooooo Much!!..You help me more than you know with your videos, I’m getting more & more prepared for my move with each video I watch. I learn a little something different about actually styling my home instead of putting my house together.
This is the best video about having a cosy interior, I will be using them when redoing my room !
Omg you’re amazing!!! New subbie yayyy so glad you popped up and thank you for these great ideas🥰
Your videos are so informative and easy to follow! The pictures and examples are great too!
Yes, keep doing what you are doing ! You're videos are so informative and the rooms are awesome.
These are great tips! I’ll have these in mind when decorating and furnishing my place in about a month. Can’t wait😍
This is my second vid I’ve seen of yours (coming from the drapes video). I have to say that your content is refreshing and brings in a new perspective. I subbed after the first vid. I look forward to watching more and using the information you’ve given to create a cozy vibe from my currently empty house :)
When she was talking about lighting in the room I was just looking at her highlights on her face she does makeup good and she’s pretty!
Aw thank you that's so nice 😊
Thanks for your advice and great way of walking the talk, it’s flowing.
Love the idea of having extra blankets and socks for guests! I always appreciate that in a home. Instantly welcoming and cozy!
Thanks for this video. I have been looking around my new apt lately at my lighting. I agree with the warmer lighting. I work in an office environment all day with bright overhead lighting. I like to come home to softer lighting including my battery operated candles for ambience esp the tea lights. I just love those. I light a scented candle every once in a while. I have to do something with the bedroom lighting soon. I have already done the rug tip for the bathroom & kitchen areas. I hate walking on cold bare floors. I have some pillows for the furniture. I am furniture researching/shopping for a new bedroom set & livingroom set. I love the idea of the throw blankets. I have been doing that for years. :) And I have plants in the livingroom. but I never thought of them in the bedroom. Will be trying that even if they are small ones.
Thank you so much for creating this video! I can't wait to get started and my home comfy. ❤️ I subbed
it's very useful! Thanks you. Every time I watch your video, I learn something, and of course, you are absolutely a wonderful person!
YESSS THANK YOU SO MUCH! THE FIRST PERSON TO NOT JUST SAY A LONG VERSION OF “FLUFF=COZY”
Yes! Love it. Love how you mentioned the no shoes in the house. We have that rule in my house. Love it.
With the coronavirus situation.. I have now instituted a strict "no shoes in the house" rule as well. It's bad enough when they track in dirt. I don't need anyone tracking in a virus!!
Essence Home Decor yes! Awesome great job 🙌
I had a hard time searching for what helps. This video was perfect for someone with A.D.D!!
Loved this. Felt cosy watching this.
We’re excited to be moving into our new home very soon and I’m sooo happy to have discovered your channel! I’m now full of ideas to decorate our new spaces. Thank you ❤️🇦🇺
I actually natuarally decorate like your tips and people always tell me how cozy my home is and its a small apartment. Good tips!
Thanks for urging people to wear slippers in the house instead of outdoor shoes. So natural for us who have been to Asia Hawaii or Scandinavia. Great suggestion for guest slippers! Cozier and definitely cleaner for the house.
thank you linda :)
Or literally anywhere else
FINALLY I found a great word and style for how I love to decorate, cozy! The video described my style to a T!
I'm refurbishing a tiny log cabin my wife and I built in 2000. I ordered Moose Lake custom curtains, a full length Bed Pillow and Skirt, and throw pillows for the Day Bed. I do have a 4' LED daylight strip on the overhead center beam. It has a steep cathedral roof pitch. The walls are all Western Red Cedar, (polyurethaned) while the ceiling is Aromatic Eastern Cedar and unfinished. I am decorating it with a Braided rug, short (11-12") pieces of artsy Birch log firewood (Baked to kill bugs) from Europe, huge Pine Cones, air plant holders I made from Lava Rock, River Slate and medium-size natural stones, shells and wood pieces. On the perimeter shelf I am strategically placing small delicate and detailed plastic animals (Foxes, Coyote, Buffalo, Elk, Mallard, Eagle, Owl, Bobcat, Bears eating Fish, Deer and Moose) They will sit on various lengths of the Birch Logs I cut and position alternatively with other small pieces, Pine Cones, Driftwood, Stones, etc. The place is my joyful space and it's just outside my back door by the pond. It's a great life and I thank God for it! Thank you for these videos. I'm learning a lot from you.
You painted such an amazing picture, it sounds like a magical place!
Thanks. I could send you some pictures if you like when I get it done.
Plants in the home help clean the indoor air as well as make your space look amazing. Make sure the plants are pet friendly if you have pets. Great video, thank you for sharing.
Everything you've mentioned I've been doing already, so I take it my space is pretty cozy which is great to know. 🤗
fantastic video! super professional and well presented
Pleasantly surprised by this video. Very informative. Just the information that I need. Good job!
I love love love texture, earthtones, & boho! I need to figure out “cozy” for our tiny living room. I live with a bear so it needs to be masculine (and athletic) as well. I want to strip it down and start from scratch. Thank you, Vivian.
This is the second video of yours that I've watched (and liked). I've found both very informative and helpful. Thank you!
thanks so much for watching and subbing :)
First video I have watched. I love your tips. Thank you for making this video.
Thank you so much!! This has made my home much more cozy.
Great ideas and visual examples . I’m glad I found this channel. 😊. I subscribed to see more videos like this, Thank you for sharing this! 😊
I immediately subscribed, as soon as she said ban overhead lighting.
This is so important. When I walk into a home, the first thing I notice is the feeling warm.. I like plants, the plants help to keep the air clean. I love nice throw pillows, that really a nice accent to the sofa.
amazing, i'm speechless you are truly the best.
I love candles, but I have cats. So I use remote scented candles with batteries, they look great and they’re safe. Candles can be relaxing and also add coziness to an otherwise boring room.
Thank you for the great tips.
I am finally ready to make my home cozy , will be binging your videos for the next couples of days 😅😅
Great video, I love the cozy feeling too, Thanks.
Restaurants should be watching your recommendations!
Lightning and sound BRAVO!
shes actually very good at giving points on how to decorate.
aw thanks bev! :D ♥
Thank you so much. Her tips are just lit.
U actually gave words and explained my feelings like my style of decor.... loved it... thnk u!
Your channel is fantastic. Congratulations!
Just found this video which helps me figure out how I want my living room and bedroom, but I would love to see if you have any ideas about creating a bit of a moody dramatic feel to it. Bonus challenge would be using white walls.
Loved your house decoration tips. Keep them coming 👌👌
Loved the ideas the best things I’ve seen in awhile
Great tips! Straight to the point
Thank you Netty! ♥
The older I get the cooler the lights in the family room but definitely will try the warmer in the bedroom and living room. I loved the textiles ideas. Very inspired! Thank you 🦋
This is so perfect! I am planning to make a move to my first own apartment and I know the vibe I felt in the pictures you showed is my vibe. I loved the tips you shared, thank you!!!
Well said Vivian. Love the PJs!
Thank you. There are hundreds of deco videos but your selection, narrative and mood are excellent. Keep the good work. From Japan. The only thing I don't agree is.... too little videos!
Wow!! Thank you!!!! 💗💗💗
💖 nice tips thank you!!
Thank you Maria !! 🥰
WHAT IS THIS BEAUTYYYY !!!¿¿
I L♡VE this style so much💫🌿💛
First time here-really good tips and quite affordable too !!!Thank you ,keep editing!!!
Everyone goes to sleep when they come to my home. I used to take offense like am I that boring lol. But have been told over the years its because my home is so comfy and inviting. I think its because of all the neutral colors and one pop of color in each room. Im also big on positioning things correctly (Feng shui) as many would call it 🙃
Great tips!
This is the best video! Finally! I always say I want to decorate “cozy” but I don’t know how to describe it or what to piece together. This video gives me so many ideas! Thank you! ❤️
thank you so much! I genuinely enjoy your personality and tips!
you are amazing, thanks for this info, really useful!
Excellent ideas! So much better than many of the more "upscale" decor ideas -why restaurants and bars strive for a cozy atmosphere instead of too modern; all easy ideas to implement. Thanks.
Your channel happened to come up to my right as "Recommended for you". I thought, this could be interesting so I clicked on the button and am certainly glad that I did.
I love your style, recommendations and honesty in your presentations. For that. . . I have just subscribed. Thanks!
Darryl
Hi Darryl, thank you for your comment & I'm so glad you enjoyed my video :)
I subscribed too. Lovely.
That was a delight to watch, thank you.
This is super awesome tips! Thank you!
Second video in a row.. The tips are grt n to the point.. Rugs r a costly affair in India or shud i say their maintenance is even more cumbersome..
Certain things are restrictive when staying on rent in a single room n on budget🤐..
Yellow lights smhow are depressive (for me) n (spl if there is lack of proper natural light in the room)...
Bt all in all ur tips wr nice n practical.. Stay Blessed Stay Happy
I use a daylight bulb or or Lumie Vit D light for the main light in my living and bed- rooms, and then warm ones for the accent lights, so you can mix and match, or swap them as you need. It really helps if you struggle with getting natural light during the day :)
I liked this video. Thanks for the info. I'd love to learn more about tips # 5 and # 6 ( window coverings and wall pictures) Thank you!
Noted!! 😘
Just published a video about curtains :) ua-cam.com/video/u3535u_-03o/v-deo.html
I love your ideas so useful and very interesting you kept me watching til the end
Love this channel, so glad I found it
Loving it all the way in South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤
