Norwegian here, great discription of the style. One thing to note if you want a scandy look. We usually stick to cool tones, blues, greens and greys are popular. Probably due to the fact that the colours around us are naturally more cool due to the cloudy grey weather, stone/mountains, green trees, blue waters etc. We don't have a lot of bright colours or warm tones. If warm colours are used then it's pretty much always a deep rich tone, like mustard yellow (which is seen on some old houses) or burgundy as accent colours for an example. Even in fashion most people (especially here in Norway) wear a lot of black, grey and blue. Most scandinavians naturally follow janteloven and are not flashy or super bold, even rich people don't brag about it
Not a Scandinavian, but a Nordic person here... Yes, I'm not a great fan of Scandi style either, to be honest. It's too sterile. Nevertheless, it is definitely something to learn from, and this style and character is a great contrast to the North American style which is a lot about "More! Bigger! Fancier! more luxurious!" One thing that is behind the Scandinavian style is the rather modest and quiet/shy nature of the Scandinavians (and North-Europeans people as a whole). It is not customary in the North of Europe to show off your wealth. Also, we are practical. A chair is a chair. We should just be able to sit on it. That's it. Hence such white and simple, sleek, iconic IKEA chairs which simply perform the function.
I enjoyed this video very much. Simple and straight forward. Where I do disagree with you is on the sense that Scandinavian people don't have or build clutter. I have spent 4 summers (prior to COVID) in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland and what I had found in every home we rented was THAT ROOM where they kept all the over flow stuff. racks of candles, pelts, canisters of teas, dishtowels, blankets, shoes, tools and various knick-knacks. I believe it is more of a seasonal room since they have more cold or cooler days than hot and more dark than light most of the year. Also many apartments in Stockholm came with a holding area in the "basement" and they had bikes, tires, baskets, etc. So from what I have seen the Scandi minimalism does NOT mean monkish. They just are fantastic at making the spaces they occupy be the warmest and most welcoming by making sure the people are center stage and not the things. I WOULD LOVE (NOT YELLING) FOR YOU TO MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT WINDOWSILLS AND TERRACES. In Sweden every home had deep sills and were curated with lovely items, music speakers, busts, some plants lots of Svenskt Tenn jars, cookbooks, and of course candles. I would love to know how that design style came to be. Thank you and thanks for these videos.
Wow! You really got it! I live in Denmark and work in Sweden and everytime I see a 'Scandinavian design video or home tour' by a non-Scandinavian, they really miss the point. Not putting things in the home that serve no purpose, creating a sense of well-being, simplicity...you just got everything right!
This was likely if not the best introduction to any style of design I've ever seen..it was clear, simple, yet with great highlights of this decor..THANK YOU.
Thanks for an amazing video on modern Scandinavian style. Toppenbra. Underbart. ❤️ 100+ years ago most Scandinavian people had alot of rugs "trasmattor" hand weaved from cotton and wool rags on the floors to keep the homes and their feet warm. At least one fire place in every home was also common. Back then houses were often small and dark with basically just a kitchen and one family room where everything happened, from family gatherings and children playing to everyone sleeping there together at night. Families were big with many children, many lived in generation situations too (grandparents lived with their children and grandchildren). It was very crowded. Most people were poor back then. They only had what they needed the most. And I think that has followed us into the Scandinavian modern style when we like to keep our life and home style quite minimal. After the the 2 world war, more and more apartment block houses were built for the modern family. Those homes were built in a bigger, modern "funkis" (functional) style, and furnitures were to be practical, to match it and the new modern way of living. Scandinavia was to be a place of good and healthy life. The Scandinavian style has also under the past 30 years developed alot, from dark big retro patterns in wallpapers and curtains etc. in the 70ies, to a more white spacy simple even more modern look, as we see here in your video. Many homes have now more of an open house plan and we prefer high to the ceilings to increase the feeling of air flow and light. We use mostly white on walls to increase the feeling of light, to have more decor possibilities and for space. We bring in nature in forms of plants and in the use of wood etc. Yes we love nature. Bright colors and graphic patterns we mostly find in pillows, blankets, and some in wall decor, art, rugs etc. And these decors we keep changing depending on our moods, trends or seasons too. In the summer many prefer more of a light airy feeling in our curtains and home decor and in the winter we like the more cozy warm look with candle light. Us who prefer the Scandinavian style, we keep our homes minimal and easy to clean, that also means things has to be "off" of the floors and preferable not too many furniture. Most stuff we own, we use daily or absolutely love. We also like our homes to be personal and cozy, practical and comfortable and each small thing has to have its own organized space so we don't have to live in a cluttered stressful home. Ikea has helped us alot to develop the Scandinavian style and to organize it on a budget, that is very true. In our modern Scandinavian home we absolutely need to have good sitting spaces where we can relax and "fika" (have a coffee or tea break), that is super important. Family dinners happens most daily in the kitchen, which is a very central space in any Scandinavian home. Kitchens have to be very functional and fit the whole family and have good alternatives to fit our visitors, friends and family, now and then, too. In our lovely modern Scandinavian homes we love to practice a simple life style and I would also like to add, it's like we are almost "one" with our homes. It's all about finding a personal style and making the space feel great, modern, simple, bright and cozy. We wanna feel in peace and live happy with ourselves and our loved ones, so the relaxed "feeling of home" is so important. ❤️ Yes, I would love to see a video on scandi abstract art on a budget to match with this video, yes. And I look forward to more videos from your channel. Big Love to you from a Swede in Finland. ❤️
Hej Erika, thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely comment! I know a lot of people will really appreciate the wonderful information you shared here! Kram!!!! 🥰
Many years ago, I saw a for-sale townhouse that was decorated in Scandinavian style, and it was beautiful, functional and unforgettable. I still love this timeless look.
I absolutely love your delivery style, how you present your points in such an interesting manner and even tie in history. Thank you so much; really love the scandi style!
Great job. Being Danish but living abroad kind of make you take other opinions seriously. I am ex. Danish for about 25 years but make Danish design lighting in far east !! You have nailed it about the way we design and decorate our homes in Denmark (even i don't live there anymore). White walls / black decor !! happy happy !!!
Very accurate description of the Scandinavian style!! :) I'm a minimalist, always attracted to clutter-free, spacious homes with ample amount of natural light! But I also like to incorporate certain boho aspects like a bright pop of color here and there or textured cushions.
I am just now starting to get into decorating and I'm trying to learn my personal style. I really like the warm feel and look of Scandinavian style, but as a traveler, I've brought back quite a few large pieces of vibrant art. I also have a ton of books so I'm learning to be ok with mixing the minimalist look along with some color. I just keep moving things around until it flows. A work in progress.
I have been recently putting together the interior look of my house and I was going for this aesthetic without knowing the name or anything about it. After watching your video I’m surprised at how many features I had picked up on. Glad to finally have a name and some fun facts about this style!
New to your channel. WOW! Love this. I recently started doing "the Swedish Death Cleaning". I don't plan on departing this life soon. As Margraette states, I am somewhere between 60 and 80 years old, but am enjoying gifting my possessions to others and turning to minimalism. In the process my home started to look Scandi. I, too, have enjoyed going to IKEA to look at their designs, but I didn't think I could achieve this look as all of my possessions were overstuffed and oak. But after listening to you today, I feel that it is possible to lighten and brighten even with what I have. The "Hygge" concept is the most important to me. Even though I am older, I plan on living in the warmth of home, family and comfort. Removing the the extra "skrap" 🇸🇪 , stuff 🇺🇲 , opening the window coverings, simplifying the decor, neutralizing colors, and natural textures, can make my home very SCANDISH. Thanks 👍
Great video though when I lived in Sweden, NOBODY had curtains or even blinds on their windows. I found it so strange seeing into each other's houses in the winter when everyone had their lights on
Yes, add my voice to the chorus of PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON CREATING ABSTRACT ART. lol I want to thank you also, for suggesting that I blow up my favorite pics into poster size and frame them as art. I love my daughter's more casual poses and THIS is the perfect way to showcase and enjoy those lovely (sometimes quirky) faces!! (Posh for pennies... I get it!!)
Finally a video on scandinavian decor that is packed with useful info. You are fantastic in sharing it as well ❤️ Only recently I found a name to what I had in my head 😊 and been looking into it since. Best video on the subject. Keep up the good work. Love from Ireland 👍
Hi! Loved the video. I’ve always been drawn to the Scandi style of decorating. It started in my childhood as my best friend’s mother was from Denmark. She had furniture and things she had brought from her home country to the USA. This was way before IKEA ever existed. I had another friend in high school who’s mother and father were from Sweden so their home was similarly done in Scandi style. I went through several different stages while decorating different homes but I recently started to be very drawn to Scandi again. My house is a Dutch colonial built in 1924 so in a little over a year it will be a hundred years old! It has some beautiful dark wood features throughout the downstairs area but some of it has been painted over. I’m not convinced that painting over the dark railing to upstairs and the inside of the front door, dark should be painted because it looks very cozy, it goes well with the oak floors (with dark wood insets) and the fieldstone fireplace, which I’ve heard jetty rocks were used to create it. I’m not certain that painting my walls white would do that all justice. I was thinking more of an ivory or light beige on the living room walls. I have some antique furniture (dark wood) and also like the industrial look. Can a Scandi look be combined with antiques and some industrial light fixtures? Can I mix the dark with some light wood furniture? It would not be a full on Scandinavian style but I’m okay with that. I really like the idea of using items made with natural elements, cozy lighting effects with dimmers, etc. One last thing (I know this is a lot lol), I do live near the beach and incorporate some simple but pretty beach items from nature such as coral, shells, etc. I will be buying new furniture for the living room once I decide on my overall look I want. What do you suggest? Is an ivory or light beige wall okay with what I’ve described (it’s a deep red now)? What type of chair and loveseat or couch, oversized chair would go with that? Thanks in advance for any insight.
Your video is the absolute best I’ve ever heard. You’ve done your research. Other videos on scandi design feel very much from an American perspective. Also, one has mentioned that they should mix old and new. You go girl!
1. Mixing old and new 2. Natural light (windows, skylight, white walls) 3. Black and white with natural tone 4. Artwork ( abstract large size) 5. Light and airy ( furniture off the ground ) 6. Textile (natural fabric) 7. Floors ( wood floor with light colour) 8. Declutter (cable management) 9. Use of wood 10. Plants 11. Architectural details I only caught 11 tips 😂😂😂did I miss anything?
Fantastic I lived in Sweden for 5 years and your spot on I am an Australian with a Swedish father who was a minimalist thanks again keep up the good work
Given that we live in northern Ontario, Canada, our winters can be long. With your amazing tips on how to warm up a home Scandinavian style, it gives us great direction on how to recreate it in our own home! Thanks so much!!!
Thank you, it was a very informative and enjoyable video to watch. I was born in Denmark and moved to Australia when I was 8, so I really miss the Scandi style and your video brought back a lot of memories of my childhood. I will incorporate more of the tips in the video into my home. Yes please, please do a video about abstract art, that would be fabulous. I'm keen to do more personal art and photography to surround our home instead of store bought, which may be beautiful but has less meaning. I just don't know how to go what size for which wall, when placed with certain furniture (bed, sofa, entry way, blank wall), what certain frames do for a certain look, what frames look good together. Also tips for renters who can't paint and use nails would be amazing.
Hi Debbie, you might find my article on gallery walls helpful as I touch on some of these topics! Here is a link: poshpennies.com/gallery-wall-tips/ Also I just published a video on abstract art so maybe check that out for some inspiration on creating your own artwork :) best wishes ♥
I had no idea that this is what I do. I live in a small town in the Midwest USA and have Scandinavian roots, but I assure you was not taught to create my living space this way. I naturally have always gravitated towards natural, clean, and bright environments and create my home and work space to echo this. I think this is fascinating and I so enjoyed the video! Thank you! I will now look for that book! ❤️
Helene: I just read an interesting article about the Norwegian’s versus the Dane’s use of mid-century modern furniture as status symbols. While Norwegians tend to put their spot lights on the designer chair and use it extremely carefully as if it was a museum object to show off to your friends, the Danes use it as intended. Kids play on them and they are an integral part of their lives. These furnitures are made to last so they should be able to handle the wear and tear of a family. My impression is the same as this article. I am Norwegian and my feeling is that Norwegians want others to recognize what we have, so we will only buy recognizable elements. «I want what my neighbor has, just bigger» is something we joke about. This is a serious simplification, but I think there is a hint of truth to it. At least with the extreme care we pay to our designer pieces, they can be passed on for 200 years at least! Hehe. -Helene (Norway)
I’m from Denmark and watching this video and the images you used made me feel sooo at home!!! Also, I love the way that you build your videos up, simple yet so informative😌😌
You are bang on on everything!!!. I appreciate you get into details and explain why. I love scandi and in a relationship with a Dane. His home is a reflection of everything you touched on. Best scandi design video. Also love your japandi one too! Thank you!!!
Wow I love your style, your gentle way, and your philosophy! Just found you today, and I am thrilled that you have given me inspiration to start my big reno... I knew it would be scandi, but this one video gives such meaning and direction to exactly what I want to create and recreate and where to begin! So, thank you!! I grew up in my family's victorian home, built by my great grandfather, who emigrated to US from Norway when he was a boy. He laid the most beautiful pale oak pieced wood floors.. 2 inch wide strips of wood, each room had it's own design... it was stunning. We all had hot water radiators in our bedrooms, painted white, of course, and in winter, we had the ritual and benefits of a makeshift humidifier as we slept... we placed a pan of water on top of the radiator each night and the water had evaporated by morning. (I still sleep with a cool mist humidifier) So, please consider me a HUGE FAN!!
Wow! Lucky you! Your family home sounds amazing! What a wonderful and meaningful place to grow up! I'm a peanut butter and jealous sammich, I'm not gonna lie! :)
Thank you! That was great :)) My family's background is Norwegian and I grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, near Banff, and have always been attracted to this type of design. Great tips. A recent move has put me next to a forest (ten feet from balcony) and so I'm feeling the need for a design change from very bright saturated colours to bringing nature inside and I love black and white anyway:)) THANK YOU!!
I l love Scandi design and you hit all the right spots to recreate the same design at home! And I agree about cable management! 😂 It's so important to make the space look decluttered!
Thank you for the description of the Scandi style. I currently have a mid-century modern design in my apartment. I've been a fan of it fir many years. I've acquired many large furniture pieces such as, couches, end tables and lamps. I want to incorporate the Scandi-style a bit more when i move into a bigger apartment in the spring. As you mentioned, declutter the space and change my artwork. Thank you for such great advice!
me and my husband are in the process of renovating our bathroom and floors. you explain it so well! i finally realized that we both were going for scandi design. i am hoping you can elaborate more on doing scandi design for kids room, kids stuff... thank you again!
Omg I’m literally snuggling my Yorkie as I watched all of this and was surprised at the end. 😊 My goal for my new house is modern minimalism with Scandinavian influence and after watching this, I’m thrilled that it’s actually more Scandinavian than anything else. Love love this design style and love the idea of our own art. Thanks for such a great video!!
Hi, thank you for a great video. Can you do a video on cable management as well? We have a really old house with mostly only one outlet in the rooms and need to use multiple extensions to use it at both sides of bed or all corners of the space. Thank you.
Thank you! you explain things in such a wonderful way! This videos are very useful, indeed: I hope you will continue with this series when you go through different styles. Love from Italy!
I'd really love a video on modern Italian design. There’s nothing to be found when googling because all that shows up in English language is bad American fake fantasy interpretation of Tuscan or Mediterranean style and not actual Italian design. Actual Italian style, just from my own experience of visiting people’s homes and watching Italian media, is closer to Scandinavian than it is to that, except more bold and colorful. Actually there’s a similar phenomenon with French country style which is different in America and what I’ve seen in France and French media. It would be really cool with videos comparing the American stereotype of those styles vs reality. Or maybe a series on the styles of different capital cities around the world/Europe would be sooo awesome. I really love your videos!
This video was kind of eye opening to me! Thank you for making me appreciate the interior style of my home region. The pictures you showed and how you described it is spot on ! I always felt I wanted to try a more American or British style, but now when I analyze my style after this video, what I have really is very much a scandi style with my love for my light hardwood floors, white walls and furniture, black accents and then paired with like muted pinks and purples to bring in some accent color. Maybe one thing more North American that I bring with me from when I lived in the US is large faux flower pieces, love for more extreme seasonal decor so to speak haha ( esp the Halloween and fall craze). Also what is lacking here in Sweden is the electrical scented wax warmers ! They are not available here and with my sensitive lungs I can’t tolerate much of burning candles (I love the look of it though), so the electrical wax warmers are the best for making my home smell nice !
I was born in 1955, my parents bought new living room furniture, which was very poplar then (1958/59) called Danish Modern. it was walnut with blue cushions. I've been a fan since a very young age.
Excellent video! I’ve wondered for so long if I fell into the Scandinavian camp with my design preferences but I could never get a clear understanding of the style. Your detail and information was wonderful! Thank you! I truly feel knowledgeable and educated now.
I've been decorating like this, unaware it had a name! The lack of colors just suits my minimalism style better, and the white walls are just bc my husband hates painting hahahaha
Loved this. I would like to redo my entire house but so much work and money but your idea with starting with paint is good one. I am drowning in boring brown and one room has 2 shades of hideous BRIGHT orange I feel like I am inside a pumpkin!
Would love to see a video in how to make abstract art. I like that the 2 design styles that you have addressed thus far are my two favorite styles! I love white walls, brightness and less clutter, but I also love the pops of colour and boho textures and patterns (I'm just not a maximalist in any way). So while I slowly decorate my home, I keep both decorating styles in mind. Thanks for your dedication. Hugs from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
Thank you Ashley 💝 you know what's funny, a couple of minutes ago I stumbled upon a comment of yours on YWA's channel (I have been doing yoga the last few weeks to help cope with all this craziness). Sending you big virtual hugs in this difficult time ✨🥰☺️
@@PoshPennies Such a small world, hey? Thank you for the virtual hugs. Things in my relationship are getting much better by the way. Being in the house all the time certainly makes people sort through things! Thankfully, we are going in the positive direction and not the other way :) also loved the books video!
Oh wow, thank you for breaking it down for us. Up until now I keep saying my styling is a mix between industrial and country styles... But now I suspect I'm a closet scando fan hahaha. How did I miss this after spending a fortune at Ikea!
Fabulous...great content and detail...👍...Just redecorated both bedroom and living room in this style...Always gravitated towards this decor over the years but didn't know it had a name till recently .... 👍
I love all of your videos and design tips. They hit on all the little details that truly make a statement in designing a space as well as the impact of how our environments effect us! Always a pleasure listening and take away of great ideas.
I just recently discovered you and I have to say I am hooked. When you mentioned cord management, I was thrilled. Is it possible to do a video about how to manage all those cords? I'm serious. It drives me crazy.
Norwegian. i feel a little called out. it made me a little self concious of being so.... studied. although, one thing to add: what makes scand decor, on the topic of old and new: its *your* old and new. *your* family herilooms and childhood knick nacks (memories is a valuable purpose), so evry home is unique. a lot of items are not gone and bought, theyre fetched from mums attick. further note: most ppl dont drag out the family heirlooms in temporary homes/apartments. this stuff doensnt get moved from parents/grandparents/great grandparents, until you found your (probably) forever nest. to note that not everyone has family heirlooms bc they gave them away as relatives died. this is a new thing to do and it breaks my heart to see ppl give away old valuable furniture to keep a 10$ ikea cabinet 😒 on the topic of fake furs: DO NOT! furs, whatever your opinon, are biodegradable and last decades upon decades. fake furs are plastic, they shed microplastics, get smelly, dont last and are so, so bad for the environment- especislly becaude it is a 100% pointless and vain use of plastic. restrain of colour is also a very new notion. if you go to older homes, youll find a lot of blues, greens and reds
thank you! this was super helpful. I am working towards being intentional in everything I do. In the middle of building a home and implementing many of these principles- Thank you!
Wow! Such a good job again. I appreciate your reference photos, they are very informative and usually shown long enough to really see them. I'm Finnish so technically not Scandinavian (Nordic instead) but the Finnish style and design is very close to it. It was really interesting too see the Scandinavian style analyzed and broken into small bits to compare it with the Finnish look. I think we Finns have taken advice from the Scandinavians in many things, but I might describe the traditional FINNISH style as a bit darker, maybe more colourful and even more nostalgic and natural. Like our stereotypical walls might be bare log walls, like an old cabin kind of look. Maybe our decoration style is a mix of the Scandinavian and Russian influence as with everything else (mentality, culture, arts...). Interestingly I see myself leaning a lot more in the Eastern side when it comes to decorating, I'm not a huge fan of the Scandinavian minimalism although I'm sure elements of it can be seen in my home. I'd call my style maybe country chic boho... but in reality my style might just be a mess. :D haha But anyway thanks for a great video again!
@@PoshPennies A lot of if would match with what you said about Scandinavian style! And of course there are many styles within the Finnish design. But here's a couple of photos that maybe show what I mean: fleimio.com/tag/nordic-design-with-a-finnish-twist/ fi.pinterest.com/pin/475692779379188962/
@@hellykay That is interesting! Thank you for posting these photos and explanation of Finnish design. I didn't realize there was a Russian influence in the Finnish culture. Shows you how little I know as an American living in the American west. I need to get out more!
I really enjoyed this video and it in-depth analysis of "Scandi" design. However, what is frequently left out of videos and articles like yours is the equally Scandi Gustavian style (originally inspired by Versaille and reinterpreted over various generations). The colours are still in the same palate and the furniture retains the idea of function as well as readily available materials (usually pine) - and thankfully a lot less gold leaf. I think in the modern Scandi look that is reflected in the use of the occasional vintage item or gold framed mirror.
This was super interesting and accurate! You really got this style down and you did your research. I gotta check out your videos after this one! Love from Norway 🇳🇴
Pretty please film a bathroom and flooring series! Im starting a bathroom remodel and have fallen in love with your videos, im afraid to commit to the design without your advice! Hah

Yes perfectly described ! Its the same in Sweden

We wanna feel in peace and live happy with ourselves and our loved ones, so the relaxed "feeling of home" is so important. ❤️
Yes, I would love to see a video on scandi abstract art on a budget to match with this video, yes. And I look forward to more videos from your channel. Big Love to you from a Swede in Finland. ❤️

Really appreciate your detailed comment..
Thanks.
You are very close in the way you say danish words and names. I am danish 😊. And your way to describe us and our style is spot on.
Thank you Heidi! ☺️
highlighting nature (windows, natural light, natural fabrics/wood), remove clutter, muted colors: so soothing ☺️
This was great! I am Norwegian and used all those ideas you have mentioned without knowing so. I think it is in my DNA. Thanks!
You describe the Scandinavian style very well, recognize in how I decorate my own home. Whit love from Sweden❤️🇸🇪
Thank you Morgan! 😍
@@jazminquiles3133 Our homes are an extension of ourselves. Never be afraid of experimenting or breaking out of the watertight definitions. :)
You do know your stuff. Thank you for not waffling like people often do. Very useful!
1. Mixing old and new
2. Natural light (windows, skylight, white walls)
3. Black and white with natural tone
4. Artwork ( abstract large size)
5. Light and airy ( furniture off the ground )
6. Textile (natural fabric)
7. Floors ( wood floor with light colour)
8. Declutter (cable management)
9. Use of wood
10. Plants
11. Architectural details
I only caught 11 tips 😂😂😂did I miss anything?

i am Scandinavian minimalist style !!! this video confirms it. I am in the middle of decorating a new house. Great reminders here on how to succeed
Posh Pennies thank you for the links I’m going to check them out now. Keep up the great work on your channel!
it's in your DNA! ♥
I love how you define Scandinavian. Now I want my interior designer to watch this video.
Lol. Not sure if you meant to be funny. 😉
My favourite style, especially in old period homes :) love the modern minimal look with old period features like mouldings and fire places x
Helene:
I just read an interesting article about the Norwegian’s versus the Dane’s use of mid-century modern furniture as status symbols.
I just now realized that this is the design style I have been trying to go for.
Thank you Lauri your comments made me really happy! 💗💗💗
Wow!
I love these "How to Decorate _____ Style" videos. Buying a new home and can't make up my mind...

I l love Scandi design and you hit all the right spots to recreate the same design at home! And I agree about cable management! 😂 It's so important to make the space look decluttered!
Thanks my friend ☺️❤️
I never do subscribe on the first look of a channel. but I did for this channel. I need to watch all videos!!
Love Scandinavian style. Thanks for making this style clearer.
i love the way you explained the entire concept of scandi space !
I like your take on Scandi. As a 2nd Gen Norwegian I am working on my 50 year old cabin to update and streamline. Good job
me and my husband are in the process of renovating our bathroom and floors. you explain it so well! i finally realized that we both were going for scandi design. i am
hoping you can elaborate more on doing scandi design for kids room, kids stuff... thank you again!
This video is absolute perfection!
I would LOVE to learn more about your methods for cable management! My husband doesn't understand why this is so important.
Hi, thank you for a great video. Can you do a video on cable management as well? We have a really old house with mostly only one outlet in the rooms and need to use multiple extensions to use it at both sides of bed or all corners of the space. Thank you.
One of the best informative channels on youtube. I would love to see a video about abstract art. Groetjes from Rosa.
Thank you Rosa ❤️
Thank you! you explain things in such a wonderful way! This videos are very useful, indeed: I hope you will continue with this series when you go through different styles.
Love from Italy!
Thank you Angelica - un abbraccio forte dal Canada, siete tutti nei miei pensieri 🇮🇹
Hi, can you please write the black round sconces name or brand we see in the first image in this video? Lovely,🖤🖤🖤
You can have any color you want as long as it’s white.
Oh! Thank G-d for the bourgeoisie! Actually its getting popular with beige, brown, grey, blue walls. At least on accent walls
I've been decorating like this, unaware it had a name! The lack of colors just suits my minimalism style better, and the white walls are just bc my husband hates painting hahahaha
You did a great job of educating us in Scandi decor. Thank you! I’d love to see how to make our own abstract art.
Loved this. I would like to redo my entire house but so much work and money but your idea with starting with paint is good one. I am drowning in boring brown and one room has 2 shades of hideous BRIGHT orange I feel like I am inside a pumpkin!
Paint makes such a huge difference! Easy to do and huge impact. Do it, you won't regret it! ♥ Thanks for watching :)
Oh you too 😭 I can relate. I hate screaming colors. I can’t wait to paint my house white

*your* family herilooms and childhood knick nacks (memories is a valuable purpose), so evry home is unique. a lot of items are not gone and bought, theyre fetched from mums attick. further note: most ppl dont drag out the family heirlooms in temporary homes/apartments. this stuff doensnt get moved from parents/grandparents/great grandparents, until you found your (probably) forever nest. to note that not everyone has family heirlooms bc they gave them away as relatives died. this is a new thing to do and it breaks my heart to see ppl give away old valuable furniture to keep a 10$ ikea cabinet 😒
on the topic of fake furs: DO NOT! furs, whatever your opinon, are biodegradable and last decades upon decades. fake furs are plastic, they shed microplastics, get smelly, dont last and are so, so bad for the environment- especislly becaude it is a 100% pointless and vain use of plastic. restrain of colour is also a very new notion. if you go to older homes, youll find a lot of blues, greens and reds
Very good like to watch your video, I am also thinking what style for my home renovation. Thks for your info.
I really admire scandi style and color tqu for ur beautiful tips.
thank you! this was super helpful. I am working towards being intentional in everything I do. In the middle of building a home and implementing many of these principles- Thank you!
I never comment but this is amazing! So informative and descriptive! Thank you 💛
Thank you Kate!! ♥
I think it would be super interesting to study Finnish interiors! Thank you for watching and commenting 💗
@@PoshPennies A lot of if would match with what you said about Scandinavian style! And of course there are many styles within the Finnish design. But here's a couple of photos that maybe show what I mean: fleimio.com/tag/nordic-design-with-a-finnish-twist/

Great overview (and I am Swedish)!! Would love an DIY art video. Also, your voice is very soothing. I could listen to you forever!
This video is so magnificent 💀👏🏾 you explained this style so well, now I know for sure this is my style of home. Thank you!! 💙
