Great results! I have satin rollers. This is a great reminder of how we can still do things the old fashioned way and still get great results! All these new products are just fancy marketing in order to take our money. Thanks for reminding us that we really don't have to spend a lot of money on hair. Good technique with anything will get great results. Thanks for sharing!
I usually wrap perm rod paper around the sponge rollers so they won't soak up all the moisture from my hair since it is a sponge... or I cut up little pieces of grocery bag and wrap around the roller... don't judge me lol... but it makes the rollers slip more when I use the plastic...for those who don't know what perm rod paper is , its Jheri curl paper, they look like zig zags..you could probably use zig zags come to think of it..
@@irenestanciel No judgement, it's cute to see youngins try to use or refer to old school methods 😊 They sell end papers in the beauty supply store, the large ones are less than a dollar and you get a whole lot. I still do a roller wet set, folding in half as you are applying them at the end of the hair and then rolling makes it easier to work with.
Tina So Blessed Yes ma’am. Let there not be any rollers available. Paper, of any kind for me, would get torn off & twisted on the ends. And just like that your hair is curled.
I used sponge rollers for the first time on Thanksgiving day and it sure helped. Put them in around 6 AM and took them out around 2 PM. Made getting ready much quicker and it was easy. :) I have to agree with you, they are delicate. That’s one of the drawbacks to them. I had a few of them get caught in my hair and the sponge part ripped. I might of put them in too tight. But, they do work well!
I still use them today. A few tips from an old school girl, open the rollers before you start and using some "end papers" for end of you hair before you roll will keep your ends smooth and keep them from getting stuck in the roller.
Your hair looks beautiful. That’s all we had back in the day but the Goody brand are the best ones to use. They are more sturdy and the handles don’t pop off. They make a big difference. Also with sponge rollers, the curls look better as they get older and fluffier.
These give the best results especially with twist and curls! So much shine and long lasting. I hated when I started getting single strand knots and couldn't really use this kind as much because they snag. Very cute tho!
Very pretty. Use paper around the spong rollers. They tend to dry out the hair and can cause split ends. Paper keeps it from doing that. Yes I still use them. They work well for me. Your hair turned out beautifully
@@nadiadelafontant8550 I think they call them end paper. You can it at Sally’s, at least I used to see it there. It’s the same type of paper they use for wrapping the hair.
BEAUTIFUL roller set!! I don't know if someone else suggested this in the comments, but here's a quick tip.. I snap the outter part off while I wrap the roller, and then on when it's rolled. Then, when I take them out after its dried, I store the sponge (with the middle rod) separately from the "clamp" part. Thank You for sharing!!
I still use sponge rollers. Well....now theyre upgraded with satin covers. Been team sponge rollers since the 70z 😂. Ur hair is beautiful. Yea the popping off snaps r annoying, but theyve always been comfy to sleep in. Very worth it.
That's beautiful I use to roll my hair with sponge rollers but now at days my hair is thinning I got cure short style but you did a good job that's beautiful
Blessings to you! When I saw your title I was wondering,"what was the big deal"! Because not did I used sponge rollers in the 70s and 80s, I still use them every now and then, when I want that "tight tight curl look, I buy mine from the Dollar Tree. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful video! God bless you!🙏🏻🌹
I'm really surprised. I was definitely not expecting these results when I clicked on this video. You did a great job with the application of the rollers.
The results are beautiful and I love the way it turned out!! To be honest I can't remember how long ago it's been since I used sponge rollers...I probably was a kid and my Mom did it🤷🏽♀️.
That's old school .I use to use that method & news paper.waste money on rollers for what? When you had all this paper just sitting around😂😂😂 & I ain't even gonna talk about the tag curls ...even BETTER results!!! LoL 😂 yeah the good ole days.
This is fire. My hair is too kinky it stays curly from root to end. I would try this again on blow dried hair though. When she put that one in front I was flashed back to how that front curl used to look. Please share the hood dryer you use. Love this
I thought the sponge rollers will pulled the hair out after you unravel the hair. Back in the 80's, I will wrapped my hair with ends paper to protect my hair from breaking off.
I'm 41 and I've been using sponge rollers on my hair every since I was a little girl, my mom would roll my hair with them. I've tried the flexi rods and perm rods on my hair, they don't work well with my hair. I don't get the curl results that I want with the flexi rods and perm rods. I'm going to stick with the sponge rollers, they work wonderful on my hair and give me the curls I desires. Also, your hair turned out beautiful!!!
Your hair came out soooo cute, I will try them, I didn't think to try it on a wet set, because back in the day we wore them on pressed hair. I like the wet set better than probably blown out

I have the same ones just laying in my closet. I haven't used them since I was relaxed. Love how you coming up with these awesome new ideas to our natural hair!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Vety cute! Im going to try this. I think i like these over the satin covered ones because the satin hold water. But i will use end papers and some humidity proof mousse and possibly on blow dried hair but will try wet first. Thanks
Haven't used sponge rollers in YEARS! I definitely recall back in the day only using these with an end paper/wrap but in more recent years, I had some that were completely lined with satin so there was less chance of the hair getting tangled in the foam itself. They said these can also be drying to the hair. For those who use perm rods at the ends of their twistouts/braidouts, I can see the satin-lined foam rollers being an option.
I was going to use the end papers but was struggling lmao. I honestly didn’t notice anything with my ends though. As far as dryness or getting tangled in the foam

I’ve used these sponge rollers before but tomorrow I’m going to try the satan sponge rollers. They’re pretty much the same they just have a satan cover over them. I feel like they will protect my hair from snagging and my hair being left on after I take them out. Got them off Amazon ♥️

Childhood memories with the blue ultra sheen hair grease and a scarf on my head lol
