I love that you teach us poor souls how to cook Laos fooD!!! thank you, thank you, never stop... Because of videos like this it encourages us to want to cook & be better cooks.
Thank you NaNa for uploading and teaching us how to cook Laos food. You are the best thing that happened here on UA-cam! Keep up the good work. Your food videos and presentation are all amazing. Once again thank you kindly!
The other bottle is Padek. It is ground preserved fish sauce. You can google "pantai ground preserved fish sauce" to get better picture of the bottle I used if you want to go look for it at the Asian market.
Chicken larb is my favorite Lao's food. I have tried different places and so I will have to admit mine is the BEST because i learned if from you! Thank You sooo much Nana..
Hi Nana, I can't wait to make this larb kay. The way you show is very details and thorough. Even better, when you speak half English and half Lao , so that I can learn Lao language. Thank you. You rock!!!
Larb is a traditional Lao dish as it was invented in the country Laos by the Lao people. Many neighboring countries in Southeast Asia were influenced by Laos, a country with an amazing culinary history. Larb is the national dish of Laos.
If you drive through Fremont, there's restaurant called "Green Champa." I've never been there, but they get pretty good reviews on Yelp. Lots of the reviews mention larb.
Perfect recipe. I recently moved to LA from ATL (where all my family lives). So I have to make my own Lao food. Your recipes are simple and delicious. Tastes just like home. Thank you!!!!
Hi nana ,I just describe today and so happy that I found you , I love your channel a lot , I finally find the Lao cooking channel that I cant live with out , I live far away from my family I kind of lost touch of Lao social and cooking Lao food , this keep me close to home, keep cooking and I will follow . thanks Noutchaly
Did you shred it yourself or you get it at the asian store like that? I'm very curious if you can photo the difference between kaffir lime leaves and lime leaves, please..Thank you very much! Love your videos by the way!
Nana, I love ur cooking and ur cool :) broken English (Eng combined with Laotian). I don’t know how to cook Laotian food much besides Papaya Salad and Pho until recently… when I saw ur channel. Thanks for the upload. Very informative.
D Nguyen if you can't find the same brand of padek I used you can use other brands. I always find it at local Thai, Lao, Hmong markets. They also have it at 99 Ranch and Lions.
sa bai dee, i have a question.. im having a lil party next saturday and its a lil party for my son. To make this dish and lets say i invited 20 ppl will 1 whole chicken be enough for my half alluminum pan tray (taad) not the full one.
I just found your channel today, I'm Lao, I love Lao food , of course I subscribe it right away, because I'm not a good cook, and I appreciated it you're Sharing your recipes, your larp looks very good, that's one of my favorite, would you please make ,( koa mee lao ) video , I'm looking forward to learn how, can't' wait ! kop jai laii laii ,,,
My grandma used to make us a Lao dessert with green noodles and sweet, white liquids. She is very sick and can no longer make it, from what I can remember i believe it is called "nam wan" correct me if I'm wrong.. but I was wondering if you could show how to make that.
This is one of my favorite dishes unfortunately I could never get the measurements correct for the ingredients. Never enough for taste, But I know how it suppose to taste. Lol!! Thanks for this video and you can put your hands in your food all you want! After all, it's your food and I'm sure it's delicious. 😜😃😃
Kisa Star and Cookin with Nana, always have to have a hater. Takara Clu obviously does not know what she is eating when she goes to the restaurant. If only she know the truth. Nana, like Kisa saidy, touch and play with your food as much as u need to make the dish right. We all do it.
sa BAi DEE nana :) I plan to make this for my birthday next weekend and I was wondering when you grilled your meat did you season it with anything? how long and what temp did you bake it on ?
Cicimee Thanks for the comment. Right now, I try to do English first since that is what more people understand. Then go back when to add Lao when there's time.
Hi thanks for sharing. I am traveling thru San Jose CA. Your video made me hungery, so I went looking for Larb. No such thing as Lao resturant but found larb at Thai resturant. So I got it. So disappionted !!!! Nasty Nasty!!!!! Yuck !!! They need to just subscribe to you !!!! I have tried most of your dishes and just loved it. I am going to have to make larb when I get home or will never get the nastiness out of mouth.
Thanks Nana, my name is Phil currently a resident in Arizona used to live in Des Moines Iowa missing all of my Klun Laos Friend Laab cooking. Thank to you we are going to recreate chicken (kia Laap) tonight.
"nam wan" is generic name for liquid desserts. I think want you mean is "nam wan khao lod song." I had lots of requests for this, but I haven't had time to make it yet. You can check out my "Cooking with Nana: Khao Leng Feun" video at 11:50 minutes to see how the noodle shape is made.
I have the unchopped kaffir lime leaves in my "nam khao" video around the 3 min.10 sec. mark. You have to slice them yourself. The don't come chopped like that. The kaffir lime leaf looks like two regular lime leaves attached to each other.
I'd prefer free range chicken! and believe it or NOT, MSG isn't bad for you! For a long time it was consider a bad flavoring additive...new studies says, NOT TRUE!
I love that you teach us poor souls how to cook Laos fooD!!! thank you, thank you, never stop... Because of videos like this it encourages us to want to cook & be better cooks.

Hi Nana, where can I find Padek in California. I've searched all over the Asian grocery stores and couldn't find the Laos Padek. Thank you.
1 whole chicken doesn't make a lot, but if you add in all the herbs (depending on how much herbs you want), it should be enough for a small tray.
thank you i wanted to make half of the aluminum trays not the full one. thanks for the tip. i like all the herbs too
Looks really good!

Is padek shrimp paste?
tamara petterson padek is fermented fish sauce. Shrimp paste is kapi.
Can you buy ground rice at the store?
You can make your own which will be fresher and tastes better.
I do not own a rice grinder or nor do I have a grinder. I use whatever I have in the kitchen that can crush them roasted rice bits.
HokkeeKun You can buy the ground roasted rice at the store, but it's really easy to make your own, like the other commenters said.
You can use a coffee grinder.
