The term bender actually stems from the early 80’s and the likes of Boy George who were said to be ‘gender benders’ as they were pushing gender boundaries. The term then widened to encompass homosexuality.
The film follows the misadventures of a group of teenage friends on holiday in Malia after the end of their final year at school together, and was intended as an ending to the TV series.
The reason UK shows only tend to have 6 , 8 or 10 episodes per season is twofold, one being that in the UK a show tends to have only a single writer which is the person who thought up the show and brought it to the attention of a network, a single person can take weeks to write a single episode so 6 to 10 is the norm, they spend 6 months writing then 6 months filming. In the US the person who dreams up the show presents it to the network and then the network - desiring much more episodes - assigns a bunch of writers to the show to help the creator fulfil the quota of 20+ episodes. Secondly, the reason US networks demand 20 to 24 episodes per season is because US TV is heavily influenced by advertising and so to entice big spenders like Coke, Nike and so on to pay for advertising slots the network wants to fill a lucrative slot with something popular for as long as possible - they want to guarantee ad revenue for a solid six months so they task show runners with creating six months worth of episodes. Why is the UK less concerned about advertising? Well from 1936 to 1958 the only network we had was the BBC and they don't advertise, all of their content is paid for via a TV license that we pay annually (think of it as the first subscription network), so when the other networks began to appear in 1958 funded by advertising they could have adopted the US model of long seasons to tie up lucrative advertising slots but by 1958 every production company in the UK was already accustomed to producing short seasons and so it just became the norm. Lastly we call a season of a show a series, so this video would be Inbetweeners series 2 episode 1, I've just used the word season above to make it easier to digest for you lovely boomerfolk. 🥰
Also a bender is a gay man, as bent used to be neutral slang for gay (or slang for a corrupt cop) while bender is derogatory slang. You have no idea how much hilarity we Brits had when Futurama first aired in the UK and we found out there was a robot called Bender 🤣
I think the "it won't survive in the sea" stems from British parents telling their kids not to handle wildlife, as if you pick up a baby bird or baby squirrel or baby anything then it will have your smell on it and it's parents will then reject it because of your scent. I think this scene may be alluding to that, but I admit that this may be quite a stretch. It's just a guess from a Brit.
British seagulls are hardcore 😂😂 They're a bit stabby, they don't give a fuck, and they'll steal food from your hands if you're not paying attention 😂😂
Those hulky Seagulls are either Herring Gulls or Black Back Gulls. Basically the same thing but different patch on the back. But yeah they are fucking massive, aggressive, pull trash bags out of the bins and open them up all over the street like a buffet. They do also wake up at the crack of dawn which in mid summer is 3.30 am in Edinburgh. They do eat a lot of rats so it's not so bad for an old city. Foxes help with that as well actually.
There are three seasons on the Inbetweeners. The first movie follows after the events from season three. (Edit: I live in Torquay, UK. Our seagulls are huge. They regularly steal whole battered fish - from fish and chips - from unlucky tourists).
Seeing your reaction to Simon wearing a sock, I can't wait to see your reaction to season 3, episode 1 🤣🤣🤣 Also, finish the 3 seasons first then watch the movies

I'm glad she was only a one off character... (I'm Northern Irish too btw)
Only just discovered you guys but I love your videos! Glad you enjoyed the Inbetweeners! It’s almost like a national treasure over here 😂 watching them all back with your reactions makes them even funnier!
I just love watching your reactions to my fave tv show especially as most of it was filmed in my town, it’s crazy seeing they way it has you dying with laughter cos it’s exactly how most of us felt when we saw it for the first time. Can’t wait for you to watch both of the movies after you have finished season 3.. Keep it up guys!
Why did you cut out the best bit ? or is it on Patreon ?
This series is genuinely so accurate in every way
I love how at least 30% of the jokes fly straight over both of y’alls heads 😂
This has got to be the best reaction I’ve ever seen 😂 and your love for the show and how funny you find it only makes me find it funnier and love it more
I love how you really appreciate the UK humour! haha
You guys are simply awesome & hilarious! Absolutely love your reactions as a couple to this series of comedy genius. I don’t think there’s a single episode that’s not funny throughout. Looking forward to the next instalment King & Queen B 👏👏👏
Spoiler Alert: Thought you guys might like to know, The first In-betweeners Movie is filmed in Greece!
Omg what an episode! So glad you did this you legends
There’s a big chunk missing from this, after jay asks “do you wanna lick it” and it jumps straight too the boat scene 🤷🏼♂️
19:35 - our seagulls are basically flying rats in the way they behave. The bastards swoop down and pinch whatever food you happen to be holding.
Each season gets better and better imo. All the episodes are great, and the movies 👍
British seagulls are hardcore 😂😂
They're a bit stabby, they don't give a fuck, and they'll steal food from your hands if you're not paying attention 😂😂
Watch all the series first then the movies. Also great reactions. It is good to see americans get british humour.
My 2 young sons used to watch inbetweeners here in England around 15 years ago and I'm only just finding out what I let them watch 👀
DEFINITELY do the movies!! Especially the first one, it's so iconic... But finish all 3 seasons first because the films follow on.
You're going to love the rest of this. It gets better and better! 😀
Seagulls here are bastards. Chip stealing, bomb diving, kinda dangerous... there have been fatalities. To feckin gulls 😆
Love seeing you both enjoy the show so much. Your reactions are great.
There are three seasons on the Inbetweeners. The first movie follows after the events from season three. (Edit: I live in Torquay, UK. Our seagulls are huge. They regularly steal whole battered fish - from fish and chips - from unlucky tourists).
Bender: a human male who bends forward at the waist to facilitate intimacy with a fellow male. See also shirt-lifter and uphill gardener.
not heard shirt-lifter in years lol 😆
@@beerguy177 Old geezer me
Also - shit shoveller
Never understood the shirt lifter one. Women wear shirts too.
It was a real fish but it was already dead and frozen, he actually hurt his hand because of this haha
You two are so brilliant, love your reactions and like how you get so into it, it’s such a great show 👍🏻
A bender is basically a schoolboy term for a gay man who likes to be on the receiving end, hence the "bend" part.
Seeing your reaction to Simon wearing a sock, I can't wait to see your reaction to season 3, episode 1 🤣🤣🤣
Also, finish the 3 seasons first then watch the movies
There'll be some editing going on that day 🤣🤣
Yep fashion show, Neil pissing in the bed, Jay dead hand gang, jay masturbating in old persons home etc to come.
Yeah, Seagulls are monstrous here 😂. They'll steal your chips or ice cream straight out of your hand if you're not careful 😂
They attacked my dogs too at Whitby.
9:45 -9:48 - Absolutely the best reaction on youtube. I laughed my head off even more at your reactions. Excellent.
No fush was harmed, they said at the time, funny thing is that it was a rainbow trout, it was a fresh water fish.
These reactions are hilarious. Always makes my day. I think you would really like the show Friday Night Dinner. Very funny and also features the guy who plays Will.
Yeah, movies are after the series. Holiday in Spain and Australia. Episode of the series to look out for is the fashion show.
I literally giggle my face off every time you start laughing! Your reactions are gold x
Yes, the seagulls on the south coast can get pretty big, they'll nick food of you to . My friend got dive bombed by one when he was eating a big mac.
Hilarious reaction from you guys. I never watched the show first time around as I thought I was too old for it, but I eventually got around to it and it's one of the funniest things I've ever watched. I'm nearly 50 and still p!55!ng myself laughing at it!
Our seagulls will even come way the fuck in-land (as in the Midlands, the furthest possible point from the sea!) if it means they can scran some chips, they are different over here 😂
To go ON a bender means to go out drinking/ partying all night or A Bender means your gay.
Yes our seagulls are massive. They can have a 6' wing span😂👍
