film student here! and let me be honest with you, this is a really really REALLY good start into filmmaking, this was so well made 👏👏👏 im really happy you made something you wanted to achieve and it came out AMAZING! I hope you get more opportunities in the future to step out of your comfort zone more! now on to the technical parts, i am in LOVE with the Cinematography (i have always loved your edits and posts on ig) from the natural lighting to the color grading to the editing it is SO GOOD!!!!!! and I really like storyline so much, im a huge fan of thrillers and horrors so this was a really good one! 💜💜💜
I had high expectations and you delivered. This was very solid and you should definitely continue doing these. The focus pull on 1:19 showed you know your stuff and should feel confident for your next "cinematic" project. 😉
Beautiful quality. It’s so amazing how sensitive I am to real quality footage. All the stuff in Hollywood uses green screen and the volume so often that nothing feels authentic anymore.
This is really stunning. I’m so inspired. I’ve owned the a7siii for about a year now but have only been taking photos with it which is crazy. Can’t wait to start filming. Beautiful work ❤
this is a very good one for a short film, the visuals is breath taking and it emphasizes loneliness. I am a filmmaker who only started in sound design and I think that if you improve the sound design even more to match the atmosphere it would be much better! wishing u a goodluck to ur next movies, and i'm seated !
Nice short film, especially for a first time. Is this your real first short film, or the first you were comfortable releasing? If its your first full short film, that is even MORE impressive. Lighting and the colour grading are good. Love that cold, blue light at the end, just perfect for that fading shot. Only two suggestions I have would be as follow: 1. To use the music more effectively so as to help you manipulate how we feel. The light piano still playing as we realize the danger Onew is in somewhat undermines the building tension. Maybe cutting the music out suddenly or replacing it with some ambient noise effect would have helped. As it is the tension mounted, but I think could have been even more ramped up. 2. This one is a LOT trickier and I don't blame you for not doing it. Switching to interior shots when the booth reveals its true self/intention (or maybe just before) would have give the audience a more claustrophobic experience. But that would require quite the focal change, and for a short film would be pretty tricky to pull off. Aside from these two points, I think everything else is good. Its no surprise that your ability to shoot someone in an urban environment is as effective as seen here, since your photography has often done the same. But building a character in a story in a short time is a whole other ball game, and you nailed it.
Thanks for the detailed comment! I agree about the music in hindsight, fixing it for the next short. Getting inside the booth is an interesting idea, but I guess it'd take like a 10-14mm lens bordering on fisheye which I don't even own. And yeah this was the first ever attempt at an actual film, I've only made youtube videos before. To be honest I almost didn't release this one.
@@teemu.mp4I think when films DON'T use a very short focal length it's because they actually remove one of the booth's walls, which is definitely not an option, lol.
I guess I'll think twice about using a phone booth in Japan now 😬👀. Particularly loved the shots at 0:09 and the tighter shot of her from the side in the phone booth at 2:28.
We basically reverse engineered the whole film around a location that already had good light, the only extra lighting gear I brought was an LED light... but it failed to turn on in the cold 😂
@@teemu.mp4 haha oh wow ! Turned out great. Really well done. So I’m assuming just a lot of location scouting happened so you were able to see lighting conditions ?
@@d8nya1 well, the booth was scouted. The other locations kinda just worked out, I'd seen then from the window while onboard a train and decided to risk it, we didn't really have time to prepare as it was on a trip.
I like a lot the cinematography ❤I’m following you from the beginning! Ps. How about Leica Q3? It would be amazing a video about. I’m thinking about to get my first compact camera as second body, and Leica will be amazing. your videos are always clarifying, also because we love the same kind of photography 👍
Dear Teemu, seriously? You know that this one is the biggest cliffhanger in flim history! I WANT TO KNOW HOW IT'S GOING TO END! Is she fine? Will phonebooth AI win? aaaaaaaaaaah!🤯 Great, simply great 😊
love the concept, it would have been even better if the music changed when the phone booth started saying creepy sh*t to something a little more ominous tho
No, I chose the location because the phone booth is naturally lit very well and wrote the so called "script" based on that. Lights would have helped some of the earlier scenes tho but it was a 1 man crew.
Elements like smoke, fog, rain, and snow have a cinematic look--that's probably why that scene was included. Is it really "promoting" smoking? The main character smokes... and then gets trapped in a sentient phone booth. Maybe it's actually saying that bad consequences happen if you smoke. :)
This has to be the most annoying kind of comment to receive. You spend countless hours learning a craft, shooting, editing, and fine-tuning everything, only for someone to say "this feels kinda weird" without providing any reasoning behind it. What feels weird about it? Why does it feel weird? I'm sure you have a good perspective--why not provide some actual explanation.
The dense lonely atmosphere created from the start till the end is amazing
Thank you very much
As always, I love the vibes of your work and I'm really excited to see you start getting into filmmaking!
Thanks King!
This is marvelous, absolutely love the atmosphere and the colour grading💙
appreciate it!

Thank you so much for your kind words! The reason I chose to make it around phone booths is that I knew they at least had the lighting built in, haha.
nice one 👍🏻 now do a sequel and a prequel and think about starting a cinematic universe😂
just kidding. well done. this is a great short film 👌🏽
24 & 50 best combo 🔥
Man that was spooky! Excellent work!
what an amazing short film Temmu! I am glad you did something you always wanted! Keep it up we def want to see more of these in the future! Take care!
thanks so much, cheers!
its going somewhere further now, like a jigsaw puzzle fitting together with skills and experience, emotions and feel. lovely

I'm so glad to hear it delivered, thank you
Woah the ending sounds of wind and her banging on the booth was so eerie
Haha, I'm glad it came across that way, because I've watched it 9 million times in the edit and have no idea if it works anymore.
@@teemu.mp4 oh trust me it does !! Lol
Love the color contrast and use of pavotuves that look like practicals.
Nice work!
appreciate it!
You are a legend, can you tell me the name of the mic you used in this film
beautiful light😏👍

Great job! The colour tones and music were perfect. ✌️

Dark... Beautifully filmed! 👌

Haha cheers, better avoid the booths!
beautiful artwork...very intriguing, the storey really hooked me in
Thanks Dale I'm so glad to hear
Good cinematography
Oh Godd.. this was really good..if it was a full movie then it would be really interesting! Hope to see more content like this from you! 🤩👍
Thanks very much, working on the next film currently!
I like the atmosphere It would be cool if it was a complete story
I absolutely love this. A fabulous achievement 😊
Thanks david!
Never getting in a phone booth again 😂 love the composition. Great work.
Gave me chills!
Nice one man! Short and sweet! Enjoyed it!
Thanks man
really nice!!
Wow… superb work 👏
Love your work. Keep up the great work
Much appreciated!
Dark, I love it 👌
So great. Curious if you set up your own lighting or used the lighting that was already around (i.e the light in the phone booth)
We basically reverse engineered the whole film around a location that already had good light, the only extra lighting gear I brought was an LED light... but it failed to turn on in the cold 😂

This is beautiful!!

Dear Teemu,
seriously? You know that this one is the biggest cliffhanger in flim history! I WANT TO KNOW HOW IT'S GOING TO END! Is she fine? Will phonebooth AI win? aaaaaaaaaaah!🤯
Great, simply great 😊
Haha, the first take we did the ending someone just literally walked past and it ruined the take, I guess it depends if people found her in time!
Excellent 😊
Loved it, such a creepy ending!
Thanks Steve!
What lens was used to get this look?
Really does look awesome, The cinema is yours.
Cheers thanks so much!
Looks amazing
Very nice. Thank you 👏
Great colour grade!
Thanks Alex!
❣️❣️❣️
Soundtrack? Please
Shooting at 24 fps?using mic ?
Soooo cinematic
love the concept, it would have been even better if the music changed when the phone booth started saying creepy sh*t to something a little more ominous tho
This is so goood👏
Thanks Kuan!
WoW!
So good man.
ty bro
what did you use for audio?
A lav mic, but we re-recorded some lines with a better mic afterwards and added in post (which is a pain but literally had no crew besides me lol)
There's an actor who speaks Korean who got lost in Japan, right? It's nice to hear Korean.
Yes that's right
Man; dark.
Cast phonew booth lol.
👍Cinematography
Wow wich lens?
Mainly the 50mm f1.2 GM
scaryyy
never going in a phone booth again lol
Better not !
Did u use any lights anywhere... Would really love a video on BTS
No, I chose the location because the phone booth is naturally lit very well and wrote the so called "script" based on that. Lights would have helped some of the earlier scenes tho but it was a 1 man crew.
It sounds like she's speaking Korean?
Great job. Color grading is just way too blue for my taste.
why promote vaping 😢
Elements like smoke, fog, rain, and snow have a cinematic look--that's probably why that scene was included. Is it really "promoting" smoking? The main character smokes... and then gets trapped in a sentient phone booth. Maybe it's actually saying that bad consequences happen if you smoke. :)
lol or maybe BIG VAPE paid me off to shill vaping!
As a korean viewer, this feels kinda weird.

Good but please do more photography instead of video.
Why u telling my boi what to do 😮💨
