If you forego druid you can go 8monk 4thief. that gives you 2 more feats, both full strength. You end up with 4 more str, with tavern brawler thats +4 to each attack and damage instead of +d6 damage.
Another good option for multiclassing is the Warlock, as Devil's Sight allows you to see in all darkness, including magical darkness. Have a party member cast Darkness, so you don't have to waste an action on the spell. Alternatively, you can just wear Eversight Ring for the same effect. I also like the Risky Ring on my Monk for perma-Advantage.
The biggest downside I see with that option is that you lose a decent amount of damage for the warlock multiclass either losing the fist damage increase to 1d8 and the additional feat or losing out on the 1d6 necrotic damage from druid. (Also just something to keep in mind at least for me when Im making these builds is that I almost exclusively play the game solo w/ no consumables or illithid powers, so just generally speaking I tend not to consider options that involve other party members, and since id much rather spend my concentration on haste than darkness I didn't really consider it) As for the risky ring, I find it to be actually pretty disadvantageous to have equipped, since my hit chance in general is already very high the majority of the time and I can gain advantage on attacks at will via shadow step, so the disadvantage on saving throws (especially on dex saving throws to completely dodge spell damage with the evasion passive) tends to be a big negative.
@@Stealth_07 Mea culpa. I appreciate you taking the time to reply and explain your thought process. I haven't yet tried solo play, so my experience is different from yours for sure.
@@constantinvaldor2281 Of course! I love talking about this game, so I will basically fully engage any comment with build suggestions about whether I've considered it/Why I didn't consider it/Why I don't think an option is good/etc.

I find them useful because after 3 turns I usually want to be somewhere else on the battle field anyway. They are very abundant early game. 8:47 should have also mention the Sentient Amulet from the grym forge it gives a free cast of Shatter once per short rest and Ki Restoration for an extra 2 ki points per long rest
An alternative you could do if playing as Astarion. is a 4th level in rogue for the feat taking ASI in dex plus the graceful cloth for 20 dex. the everlasting vigour and mirror of loss for 20 str and the last 2 class levels being warlock taking the Devil Sight and Armor of Shadows invocation to get mage armor for a slight defense boost and the ability to do ranged and melee attacks within and outside of darkness clouds. This lets you do cool stuff like shooting a darkness arrow and being able to shadow step into the darkness just fine having advantage with no blindness. This also allows you to dump wisdom as its not needed for AC anymore and none of our primary abilities utilize it. My suggestions would be putting these points in constitution and using the soul catching gloves which will net you 17 constitution oprning the constitution amulet for another party member. Now the party unfriendly part is you need the ethel hair to get 18 and this would mean you would have 13 con for most of the game not ideal so you could drop CHA and get 14 until you get gloves especially if Astarion isnt your party face but it still isnt ideal But still important because why we want con is for hex concentration which would be the one of the two spells youd take as warlock, my suggestion for the other is hellish rebuke really only to end a fight on a really low hp enemy but really its never worth using anything but hex. Lastly, making Astarion vampire ascendent makes this even more busted but it really isnt necessary at this point.
In normal circumstance: Additional Action Points: Lv2 Fighter Class - 1 per Short Rest Lv3 Spell - Haste / Potion of Speed Additional Bonus Actions: Lv1 War Cleric Class - 3 per Long Rest Lv3 Rogue - Thief Class Lv5/6 Classes of Non-Magic Attack (Except Rogue Class) Lv11 Fighter Class (Extra) Monk is usually combined with Thief class for Bonus Action since Monk uses it to do most of the damage.
Does a third level of druid really provide much? Symbiotic entity is gained at level 2. So, I would go 6 monk/4 rogue/2 druid for an additional feat. That said, 8 monk/4 rogue will net two additional feats, which might be better still.
Damn good stuff, just about to play BG3 for the first time and Monk is looking mighty fine! It'll either be this or a Four Elemental build, but either way love the style of your videos.
i spent way too long thinking about ''why the big ass sword, what could possibly be the reason'' - went to the wiki and all scouring for swords to see if there was any op monk option.. nothing. I let it go and started playing aaand then it hit me when i saw a katana in the circus a couple of days later lol. It's for the sekiro reference. Well played though now you got the anime juices running in me, im thinking of trying this build with assassin instead of thief and pretend im hitting black flashes with flurry of blows for a little different flavor
LOL! Also if you want to go full anime just go full shadow monk to get the shadow strike at level 11 (Its the move Im using for the thunbnail screenshot) your character literally sheathes their sword with a flash of light before turning into a shadow and "Nothing Personal kid" teleporting to a target. It actually has one of my favorite animations in the game its just unfortunately not a very good move for optimizing a build.
@@Stealth_07It's honestly kinda a shame that unarmed attacks so overpower using weapons on these builds, it would be so cool to have the full Sekiro experience combining the Senpou temple style martial arts and shinobi swordsmanship. It's also further crazy how much more powerful thief is than assassin for all of the big hit 'assassin' builds as assassin simply stops being useful after the first round. The challenge of having bonus actions be so strong yet so limited.
Elixirs of Giants' Strength can replace strength buffing gauntlets for the majority of the game and will do it even better, as I just learned today - as such, unless you like the consistency of the strength boosting equipment, or want to save on money (since elixirs are expensive), you can just become an elixir addict to keep your strength high.
I just cleared honor mode solo with this! Had to make some changes for instance I used infernal robes in act one (kill karlach) Act 2 yuanti scale mail for Dex to AC (Needed that AC for myrkul fight) And went 8monk/4 rogue instead +3 feats in total.
I know that Tavern Brawler is everyone’s favourite pick these days but i honestly think it’s overrated. Since you seem to be using the Gloves of Soul Catching, and not the Hill Giant Strength, the bonus you will be getting from TB is just a +3 from your 16 Strength. Much better to dump all your feats into improving Dex and Wis…. Since the Boots of Kushigo add your Wis bonus to your damage. You will be doing marginally less damage than with TB, but you get extra AC, better Wis saves and higher DC against Monk abilities. My monk has 20 in both Dex and Wis.
So, part of the reason why I still suggest tavern brawler is because of the Druid multiclass option I give. If we go that option we only get 1 feat, and tavern brawler is the best "bang for your buck" in terms of a single feat for the build. Additionally if we look at the actual stat spread I played in my playthrough (which means I'm including the permanent ASI's you can get) then my stat spread was: Str: 15 +1 (Tavern Brawler) +2 (Araj Oblodra's ASI) 18 total Dex: 17 +1 (Ethel hair) +2 (ASI Feat) +2 (Mirror of Loss) 22 total Con: 8 Int: 8 Wis: 16 Cha: 8 So with this spread, I gain the most value out of maximizing my DPS with tavern brawler. Of course the main reason I dont recommend this spread in Video is because it relies on the permanent ASI's which I dont cover in my videos, and I don't think the average player is going to like having 8 constitution in their game.
I'm using a Lightfoot halfling for this build because halflings reroll ones, have advantage on save against frightened and I get advantage on stealth checks from my subrace
The Sekiro music threw my brain for such a loop holy shit but damn is it fitting. Shadow monk is such a fun class to play, and this build/gear guide looks really nice. (Also Owl is as large as a bear so it uuhhh? Kinda works?)
I knew I had to do a Sekiro reference for one of my openings, since I thought the Dark Souls reference would be too obvious. (I might still do a dark souls reference eventually)
Man I wish there was a written out build. Like with what is good for which act and where to get the items. Watching all these videos are great. But I can’t keep going back to a video to follow the build at each level point or act.
I did do a Monk(open hand) Rogue(thief) fighter . i fail to remeber what my item set up was. I did have legendary golves and armor . And i would average about 180-240 dmg(more if pre-hasted) 1st round combat while having 23/24 ac . So this is a fun spin on it more stealthy less frontline
Actually, for Open Hand im surprised your damage was that low on average. TBH With the manifestation passives and wholeness of body skill granting an extra bonus action, you can deal like 400+ pretty easily on first turn even without being hasted.
Well i just spouted numbers. Most things would die in 1 turn. I did also not take wholesome of body extra Ba into acc@@Stealth_07ima go fire that save and tell u average Ua strike dmg
Ok Here are stats. I have 20 Str with tav brawler so its doing 1d6+10 wis is at 18 so open hand feature doing 1d4+4 and ofc the 1d10 gloves for a 17~34 dmg per strike average of 25.5/ so average 306 dmg if i hasted. assuming no crits .@@Stealth_07
@@Stealth_07what would a break down of that damage look like ? At most you're getting 50 damage per flurry and 30 ish DMG each regular attack so assuming you pop wholeness it's around 150 + 60 which is what op said
@@dexacc2719 Ok so, I did overshoot my guess pre-haste and said 400 instead of 300. For the math behind 300 damage let me explain: - In a single turn we use 3 Flurrys and 2 punches for a total of 8 Punches. - Each punch deals an average of 33 damage. [1d8 (Unarmed Roll: Averages roll of 4.5) + 4 (Tavern Brawler with 18 Strength) + 6 (Dex 22) + 3 (Wisdom 16 modifier from boots of Uninhibited Kushigo) + 1d4+3 (Manifestation: average roll of 5.5) + 1d10 (Gloves of Soul Catching: Average roll of 5.5) + 2 (Helm of Berserker) + 1d4 (Shadowcloaked Ring: Average roll of 2.5)] so total average 33 - So the full turn does 33 * 8 = 264 damage right? No, we have to account for crits. You may think that crits are too little of a chance to count BUT with just 1 crit increasing item such as the Dead Shot Bow and then if we gain advantage on our attack rolls (either by using the risky ring or by using our first flurry of blows to knock the enemy prone granting us advantage on our following 6 hits) THEN the crit chance per punch is actually 20% so it is not a negligible chance and should be counted in our damage average. So accounting for crits our expected damage value of our 8 hits is actually 288 damage so ~300. We could then add an elixir of cloud giant strength to make the damage definitely over 300 or a bloodthirst elixir for the extra action, etc.
Playing this build (in act 1 rn may just do 9 monk for the 1d8 fists) and just unlocked Tavern BRawler - I knew it doubled your damage but not your +hit - I've become a doping fiend with strength elixirs now.
It's an edit, I was actually going to go even harder on the edit but I couldnt find certain sekiro assets like the posture bar and the posture break sound to make it even better.
The skill icons are courtesy of bg3.wiki they have almost every skill/class/etc icon with no background available on there. As for the windows that I display the skill icons on and for my level split visuals, I handcut the the borders out from screenshots in photoshop and then just over-layed the borders on transparent backgrounds and matched the Text font and colors to the in game text and background windows.
So with the Phalur blade being Versatile and Finesse, what about Shadow Monk, Assassin Rogue? Surprise out of combat with Sneak Attack for guarentee Critical, Great Weapon fighting feat for a bonus attack for the Critical. Plus getting your action and bonus action refreshed when you enter combat
Getting ready for first playthrough and planning to go down monk/thief route. How would dark urge fair is their and pros or major cons to doing so, race just looks kinda cool
Dark Urge can be any race, and from a gameplay perspective they are just strictly better than a normal custom character as they gain access to powerful character exclusive items and buffs.
Thoughts on this monk build vs. a Duergar open hand monk that has the same multiclass plan? Perma-invis for duergar has me thinking about doing that with open-hand, I want this to be my stealth character for surprises
Thanks for the very easy to follow guide. One question: you seem to put emphasis on unarmed attacks. But in the intro you're using a sword. Is that an alternative build you're using?
I'm using a sword in the opening mainly for the bit, but using a versatile weapon like a longsword or warhammer is honestly completely viable until you acquire the gloves of soul catching in Act 3. The only downside is you basically have to use the Flawed Hell dusk gloves then since they add bonus damage to both melee and unarmed. But once you have the gloves of soul catching there's no reason to use a weapon it's just worse at that point.
this video was incredibly helpful for figuring out how exactly I wanna build my honor mode shadow monk but I have a quick question I'm wanting to run trickery cleric as part of the setup with dual daggers how exactly would you suggest working that in?

Lae'zel -> 6 Fighter Battlemaster + 6 Bard College of Swords, Gives you a very diverse range of Melee attack options to make your potential melee combos interesting giving you a sort of "Blade Dancer" type build (I might make a video on this build actually)
Karlach -> I would recommend a druid + barbarian build but I AM making a video on this one so no spoilers
Wyll -> You could just go some standard Sorlock Eldritch blast build with like 2 Warlock Old One + 10 Sorcerer or you could go like a swords bard + blade warlock for a more melee type build
Idk, I tried to make sure each build kept the characters starting class (except Shadowheart Trickery Cleric THAT CLASS IS ASS, sorry shadowheart love you) and I tried to pick builds that have little gear overlap with this monk build so it should be possible to run them all in the party. I never understood how people could have so many attacks in one turn
In normal circumstance:
Additional Action Points:
Lv2 Fighter Class - 1 per Short Rest
Lv3 Spell - Haste / Potion of Speed
Additional Bonus Actions:
Lv1 War Cleric Class - 3 per Long Rest
Lv3 Rogue - Thief Class
Lv5/6 Classes of Non-Magic Attack (Except Rogue Class)

You will be doing marginally less damage than with TB, but you get extra AC, better Wis saves and higher DC against Monk abilities. My monk has 20 in both Dex and Wis.
So, part of the reason why I still suggest tavern brawler is because of the Druid multiclass option I give. If we go that option we only get 1 feat, and tavern brawler is the best "bang for your buck" in terms of a single feat for the build.
Additionally if we look at the actual stat spread I played in my playthrough (which means I'm including the permanent ASI's you can get) then my stat spread was:
Str: 15 +1 (Tavern Brawler) +2 (Araj Oblodra's ASI) 18 total
Dex: 17 +1 (Ethel hair) +2 (ASI Feat) +2 (Mirror of Loss) 22 total
Con: 8
Int: 8
Wis: 16
Cha: 8
So with this spread, I gain the most value out of maximizing my DPS with tavern brawler. Of course the main reason I dont recommend this spread in Video is because it relies on the permanent ASI's which I dont cover in my videos, and I don't think the average player is going to like having 8 constitution in their game.
@@Stealth_07 fair enough! 🙂
Or you can dump STR and use Elixir Of Hill Giant to get permanent 21 STR right from act 1
I'm using a Lightfoot halfling for this build because halflings reroll ones, have advantage on save against frightened and I get advantage on stealth checks from my subrace
Awesome guide! I didnt see anyone ask what clothing is your character wearing on this video? Looks dope
Ok, so its been a bit but I believe in the intro, I am using the "Garb of Land and Sky" dyed with the "Black and Furnace Red" dye.
Thanks ! @@Stealth_07
I prefer 8 monk 4 rogue for the extra feat personally - monk is super fun OH or Shadow :)
I love your build videos, keep em comin
Thank you!
@@Stealth_07 You can never go wrong with a good old Dark Souls reference.
I did also not take wholesome of body extra Ba into acc@@Stealth_07ima go fire that save and tell u
average Ua strike dmg
For the math behind 300 damage let me explain:
- In a single turn we use 3 Flurrys and 2 punches for a total of 8 Punches.
- Each punch deals an average of 33 damage. [1d8 (Unarmed Roll: Averages roll of 4.5) + 4 (Tavern Brawler with 18 Strength) + 6 (Dex 22) + 3 (Wisdom 16 modifier from boots of Uninhibited Kushigo) + 1d4+3 (Manifestation: average roll of 5.5) + 1d10 (Gloves of Soul Catching: Average roll of 5.5) + 2 (Helm of Berserker) + 1d4 (Shadowcloaked Ring: Average roll of 2.5)] so total average 33
- So the full turn does 33 * 8 = 264 damage right?
Gabimaru from Jigokuraku - Hell's Paradise
love your builds. Currently running your OTK assassin with Shadow heart as my tank (or bait?) LOL.
Liked and subscribed 😊
Great content, editing and presentation 😊
What is your full Honour mode party ?
im just doing a monk run how fitting
Playing this build (in act 1 rn may just do 9 monk for the 1d8 fists) and just unlocked Tavern BRawler - I knew it doubled your damage but not your +hit - I've become a doping fiend with strength elixirs now.
Yeah as much as the extra monk lvls at the end help I'm a sucker for extra damage and those druid lvls def worth ut
This will be my new build awsome vid! one question where should the bonusses go wit ability points?
The MRE review reference 😂
This looks sick
is that sekiro theme a mod or a video edit cause it looks amazing!
It's an edit, I was actually going to go even harder on the edit but I couldnt find certain sekiro assets like the posture bar and the posture break sound to make it even better.
Omg your videos are the best! How do you put the skill icons and those visuals? 🤓
@@Stealth_07 Perfect.
In the opening cinematic did he do 6 Monk Lvls 3 Rogue and 3 Druids or 9 Monk and 3 Rogue?
Also, amazing video
All your vids are so well made and informative! Would the level progression work for an OH monk build or would i need to change some things around?
Yeah, OH is the exact same progression
Awesome, thanks!@@Stealth_07
Really like the monk class.
Are there enough items to cover both way of shadows and way of open fists monks in the party ? 😊
Yeah, there definitely is, though anymore than 2 monks and you might start running into problems, at least until act 3.
Very cool
Great video Mr StealthTeam07! Any tips on how to come up with such epic names? 😲
ua-cam.com/video/hRtoORSBg0w/v-deo.html&ab_channel=EpicBoi
What about the gloves that set your dex to 18?
Shinobi right here
Thoughts on this monk build vs. a Duergar open hand monk that has the same multiclass plan?
@@Stealth_07ah, okay. Thanks.
this video was incredibly helpful for figuring out how exactly I wanna build my honor mode shadow monk but I have a quick question I'm wanting to run trickery cleric as part of the setup with dual daggers how exactly would you suggest working that in?
What was the sword that you were using in the cinematic? Also if I saw correctly was the sword counting as an unarmed strike?
