$330 being the "low-end" is insane when that used to be mid-range pricing. Even taking into account inflation, it shouldn't be this high.

Yeah, I still remember that I got my GTX 980 4GB (top nvidia card at the time) for around 500 dollars. Imagine getting RTX 4080 for 500$ right now. No wonder people are mad when low-mid range GPU is priced what high end used to be. I also miss the times when graphic cards were... "Cards". Right now we should call them Graphic Bricks....

@@harryniedecken5321 You may be right. Newest AMD apu is more or less equivalent of GTX 1650 (depending on the mobo & ram as it affects performance). For 1080p gaming it should be enough. Maybe like 2 or 3 generations from now we will have APUs that are even more powerful. And this is most likely something that will hit GPU manufacturers hard. Imagine average gamer not buying graphics card at all...

Short answer: if you don't need that much VRAM, go for the "older" 6700xt which is better in gaming and maybe cheaper depending on your region. Heck, in Europe the 7600XT has the same price as RX 6800 16GB. Let's be honest, 6800 is waayyy faster. What a time to be alive!

For gaming yes, if you are going for other workloads like any usage of AI it's a nice one. Sure you can get something from Nvidia for that price which will run even faster, but Vram is the only saving grace for this one.

Just a friendly correction: "AFMF is basically an answer to Nvidias DLSS Framegeneration" (4 min 50 sec)". That is not correct. AFMF (AMD Fluid Motion Frames) is not the competitor to DLSS 3 Frame Generation. FSR 3 is. It is a very similar procedure. Both combine motion vectors (getting that from the game's engine) and optical flow compute (Nvidia has fixed function hardware for that - AMD does it via compute). Both have latency reduing procedures to compensate the added latency of compute and delaying a frame. Nvidia has reflex and FSR3 has a reflex equivalent baked in. Both require explicit implementation into the game by the developer. But both are so similar (as FSR2 and DLSS2 are very similar how they work) that modders had a easy time to inject FSR3 when DLSS3 Frame Generation is supported and likely vice versa. AFMF on the other hand is not reliant on implementation by the developer - it works transparent to the game. This procedure uses a similar optical flow procedure as in FSR3 but since it does not get motion vectors from the engine it is more limited in terms of stability. Also it does not have a lag reduction mechanism built in. Although both AFMF and FSR3 FG are somewhat similar those are not the same. DLSS 3 Frame Generation should be compared to FSR3.

The real question is, at what price does this card become compelling and when is that most likely to happen? A chart or analysis that I'd really like to see is a comparative GPU MSRP over time and the relative time between price drops across multiple years, makes, and models. It's a lot of data, but maybe put it on the back-burner at Labs. "Meh" performance-to-cost at launch isn't unusual. I'd argue it's been the industry norm for nearly 20 years.

Sure, the 6000 series cards are still around now, and are a better option at that price, but if they are out of stock in a little while, this generation card will likely have dropped in price and takes their spot. If they would have not brought anything out this gen because it's like a higher up card last gen anyway, then as soon as they disappear, theyw ill have nothing to offer. It's not a reasonable option...now.

The 7600 XT is a budget card you can game quite nicely on 1080p. While being a budget content creation card. Looking at tech power up, it's comparable with a 2080 super.
So you get a 2080 Super with 16GB of Ram. Which is a really nice deal for the price. Then again it's not Cuda, so that also kinda sucks. Still you can do most content creation things on it, and not running into ram shortage. So it's a toss up depending on what you do. Between a 4060 TI 16 gb or a 7600 XT if you want to pay 120 euros more or not, depending where your from.
Both have AV1, depending on what you do this can be a major factor. As starting production on a project can take a few to some years. I am simply not blown away by both options.

Still, the 7600XT (345€) is roughly 55€ cheaper than the cheapest 6700XT (400€) and 65€ cheaper than the (last model left of the) 6800 (410€), so if that's too much the 7600XT is an option, though not the most compelling one for sure.

The problem is that whenever I compare different GPUs that are supposed to compete at specific market, then unfortunately, almost always, team green simply has the best product, with team red being slightly behind and team blue being way behind. That is unfortunate truth. I wish it was different. I really do. And as you correctly pointed out - 4060 ti 16 gig is slightly more expensive than 7600 XT. And while it is a fact, that one card is more expensive than the other - it does not reflect other pros / cons. I guess it depends on who is looking for what. I for instance would rather have a card that uses less power & runs cooler cuz I know it will most likely translate to less power bills and longer live span of the device. So for me, 7600 XT would need to be way cheaper than it is right now in order to be more competitive.

Every time the high end gets oversaturated, the mid-end goes down in value. 80s effectively replaced 70s from a few years back, pushing the 70s into the real mid-market region. In turn the 60s are just the best of low end you can get. Only the mid range price tag is left there. It seems like nothing is going the consumers's way these days. Still crossing fingers for Intel.
