Great explanations on it! However, I would like to reinforce that '' water ' in ancient religions always meant to be a symbolic form to refer to '' emotions'', so Ọ̀ṣun not only brings life through water, but also possesses the power to master emotional inteligence as '' the water moves or flows slowing along the river'' ( metaphor to the slowly pace we get to self-knowlege).

Thank you deeply Adérónkẹ́ for speaking true traditionalist perspective to correct strayed diasporic representation due to colonial influenced ignorance and misinformation! 🙇🏿‍♂️💛

Thank you so much for the video. I live in Brazil and my aunt is a fervorous Ọ̀ṣun worshipper, I'm happy that you shared your knowledge about that wonderful deity.
And thank you very much for talking about Dr. Masaru Emoto, I didn't know water reacted to our words and emotions, water is practically alive!

Multiple applause to you for including an extract from Seun's video. With regards to the Art illustrations of Óșun - I can't help but think the creators of these art were subconsciously obsessed with White gaze/white approval. The illustrations also conform to Wh*te beauty ideals which are deeply anti-black. So yeah, thanks for shedding light on this.

Modupe Aderonke🙏🏿 Great Work.. Blessings to you always.. I love this explanation of Iya mi. As I am an Olosun, I totally agree with everything that you have explained about Osun except one thing. The mirror.. As I did grow up in the Lucumi tradition in America. The mirror in association to Osun was never to replace the fan. The fan has its purpose and so does the mirror as well as the machete. The mirror does not represent vanity or seduction either. It is a tool to help her omo see themselves deeply. There is a power in mirror gazing. But more so, it is a tool to assist with self awareness and self love/care. So it was never about vanity. Iyawo's or new initiates are not even allowed to look in the mirror for a lengthy period of time to release the urge of vanity. Vanity is never encouraged especially not in association with Osun. The mirror is used as a tool to assist with one seeing themselves because sometimes ppl act in the world and are never aware of how they are received or perceived. Its a way to bring forth humility and balance the expression of self. Also, ppl at times can be over-thinkers and never learn how to feel. Or how to make a decision with their gut. They say dont think but feel. The reference to sensuality is another misinterpretation. Osun is "sensual" in the aspect of being very in tune with the 5 senses of the body which is what allows her to have emotional intelligence, intuitiveness and empathy. These strengths are all attributed to the 70% of water contained within the body as well. I just wanted to share those things. Again, thank you for this well informed video. I appreciate your time, effort and dedication of relaying detailed, accurate information about Iya Osun. Alaafia oo. 🙏🏿
