    Wow...thank you for posting this video. I know the investment you have made with Goodnature, in both equipment and relationships. For me, this solidified my faith in the two of you to deliver the unbiased truth. I use the CS700 (and you don’t have to purchase the extra top set...it comes with it) now because that fits with my budget but the Goodnature is a goal of mine down the road. Buying your ebook now!

    Hey Lauren, I absolutely LOVE your videos. I bought a CS700 because of your videos and now I am really wanting the m1. One question I have is that I juice a lot of greens and I was wondering if you have compared how much juice you get if you juiced a pound of kale on the m1 vs the CS700. From this video it is clear the CS700 does better but I am curious of whether the difference is significant or not. Thanks!

    • @LaurenMattice
      @LaurenMattice  3 роки тому

      Hmm I don’t know that the difference would be that significant. I juice a lot of greens on the m-1 and it does great in mixed recipes :)

  • @GoldenJoe
    @GoldenJoe Рік тому +5

    Thanks for the fair comparison. I went with the CS700. Not only did it cost 1/4 of what the M1 would, I think the darker color indicates better nutrient retention. The combination of shredding and pressing on the M1 must expose the juice to more oxygen.

      Did you get the one with the additional top?

    • @GoldenJoe
      @GoldenJoe 9 місяців тому +2

      @@stayfitfabulous343 I did, but to be honest I never use the second top since my business is all bulk juicing. I'm now looking to upgrade to an X1-mini. The Kuvings definitely has strong points, the slight amount of fine pulp can be an advantage - some of my customers see that as evidence of juice being high quality. The downsides are that you have to strain it - beets and greens are very foamy, and if you freeze a juice, the solids will separate and look quite different compared to settling normally. I also recommend getting a wooden spoon or something similar - pulp can get pushed aside of the auger, and you need to guide it back in sometimes when doing bulk.

    I found that yogurt/nut bags work great with the M1. A reusable and cheaper option and not stuck with having to get a monthly supply of press bags. Depending on what you are juicing, we found we need to press 2-4x to make one juice on it. Great tasting juices tho!
    Thanks for the comparison!

    Though it would take more time, feeding the M1 grinder slower would make the pulp finer and improve extraction. Also, initiating a press before the bag is full would also increase yield due to the increased pressure per square inch on the produce. On my old Norwalk 275, I filled the press cloth roughly 50% to improve extraction. Worked pretty well. Eventually I ended up using a blender to maximize yeilds..

    It’s worth pointing out that the kuvings takes more labor time. On the M1 after you grind, you press the button and walk away. Two minutes later you have your finished juice. During that time you can be prepping the next batch, cleaning, etc. Very important if operating a busy juice bar and producing a lot of bottles of juice. Also you don’t need to filter it! Can juice right into the glass and give it to the customer. In a real business environments the M1 is the clear winner IMO.

    I believe you can call the juice from the kuvings a cold pressed juice. There's no heat involved and the juice is pressed out, but in a different manner from the m1. I would look into that.

    • @rhodaime79
      @rhodaime79 2 роки тому +4

      George you are absolutely right on that one. Also I personally wouldn't call the juice from the M1 cold-pressed, considering it uses a grinder to cut up the produce before pressing. This might introduce some oxidation to juice after it has been pressed. This becomes evident considering the shelf life on both juices. My money is the CS700 to outlast the M-1. The only benefits I see in buying the M-1 is the little prep time and no straining. For a commercial application this is big deal as you dont want to waste all time prepping if you have a huge order. But juice purity and small orders the CS700 wins. Just my humble opinion. I'm no juicing expert.

      @@rhodaime79 the juice doesn't separate right away with the m1 and other press juicers. huge benefit. it does separate immediately with the kuvings and other masticating juicers, such as the greenstar or omega. some people or customers don't like that. i'm a nutritionist with quite a bit of experience in juicing and i don't believe that press juicers produce a higher quality juice over slow masticating juicers. they enable you to produce a large amount of juice in a shorter time (with the exception of the m1). press juicers also produce the least heat. They don't, however, extract nearly as good as slow masticating juicers. the pulp is coarser. you saw the color difference, taste difference.. i believe the separation occurs in masticating juicers because they extract so well that you get micro particles in the juice. aesthetically, that's a bummer because it doesn't look appealing and can be interpreted as lower quality but it's not. basically press juicers make juice that is thinner, lighter tasting, smoother, and doesn't separate because it is not extracted very well, plain and simple. i don't like the term "cold pressed juice" because it implies that masticating juicers are hot pressed and they are not. they are warmer than a press because they extract much better but not at all to where enzymes and nutrients are damaged or they wouldn't last long but they do last from 3-4 days while juice from a centrifugal doesn't last longer than a day because of heat and harsh processing. that's my take and i consider myself a juice expert as i've taught juice classes for over a decade and have researched juicers very carefully during that period as well. maybe if juice from a good masticating juicer is strained through a cloth it won't separate. i've never tried that but will for sure and excited to. in terms of time making juice, there is no way around that issue working with a masticating. so if you are needing to produce many bottles, a press juicer is the only way to go. it makes good juice but a ton of nutrition is left in the pulp FOR SURE. maybe you can press it twice or three times to get more juice out of it. but also part of why it yields less is because the the pulp is chopped coarser so there is only so much juice that will come out. it is not a perfect method by any means. but they make great juice with great health benefits and you can make a ton of juice fast and that is enough. perfection is another story. each type of juicer has it's pros and cons.

      if bottling, your juice will be separated if using a kuvings or other masticating. know that because many sellers don't want their juice with separation. only press juicers make juice that won't separate until at least a few days later. see my comments above as to why. it's important. but if you do get a press juicer, i don't rec the m1. at least get the x1 mini or the like. its 15k. m1 is 5k and much weaker. they have payment plans.

    Is it a bad thing if the juice starts to separate?

    • @taufandsimba2023
      @taufandsimba2023 2 роки тому +1

      depends. if from a high quality slow masticating like a green star or kuvings, no. i believe the separation from these is because they extract so well that micro particles flow into the juice. press juicers, as proven in this video, don't extract that great. see my more in depth comment above in reply to someone's comment.

      @@taufandsimba2023 Doesn't make sense to me. Seems more bits of the actual veggies pass through the screen on the masticating, giving it more color and more separation. You get zero solid theoretically with a press. Saying they "don't extract that great" is head scratching to say the least.

      Agreed: the pores in a cloth bag are much finer than a piece of metal with holes in it, resulting in masticated juice having more solids which are more prone to separation over time.

    What's best for doing ginger

    • @LaurenMattice
      @LaurenMattice  2 роки тому

      The M-1 will be better. Ginger is pretty stringy and will clog up the port of the Kuvings fast. On both machines cutting the ginger into smaller pieces will help break up the stringyness and move the process along. Use this link when purchasing to get free filter bags 👇🏻

    What are your thoughts on the Norwalk vs the Kuving or the M-1? Thanks for your videos!
    Anyone else have any input on the Norwalk as well? Thx

    • @erinm973
      @erinm973 3 роки тому +3

      I have a Norwalk and recently got the M-1. I compared quality & yield of both. The Norwalk was actually faster, yielded more, was greener & tasted better. You can taste all of the ingredients. I feel like the grinder in the M-1 is not very good when it comes to greens. It shreds instead of grinds & when pressed does not flavor the juice. Also, as many have said, you have to press more than once to extract all the juice from the pulp. I find it very hard to think about using in an “on demand” setting.. it is just too inefficient. Hope this helps.

      @@erinm973 Agree with Erin // I own M1 , X1mini, Norwalk and Pure Juicer. In terms of quality and flavorful juice. I have to give it to Norwalk or Pure Juicer. Pure Juicer is easier to use compare to Norwalk.

      @@DrDisasta I think Pure and M1 isn’t call an upgrade. Pure to X1 Mini is an upgrade because you can spend less time to juice.
      I think M1 helps when you have to do a quick order for customer. But the taste is definitely different. Wish they do the upgrade to the grinder. The X1 Mini have a better press and yield more.
      If you want to juice in bulk. Sammic + X1 are doing a great job.

      Norwalk Faster??? The Norwalk requires: 1) prep the produce to fit into a narrow chute, 2) wrap a bag, 3) insert the bag into the press, 4) turn the handle to start the press and "ride" the press so it does spray juice or break the bag, 5) unwrap the bag and throw away the produce, 6) clean the bag, and rewrap it 7) wipe down the entire machine. On the M-1 you 1) put produce into a much larger chute that can accommodate larger diameter veggies like cucumbers so there is little to no prep, 2) press a button to start an automatic 90 second press cycle and go do something else, 3) throw out the bag, 4) rinse the hopper. I made 75% less juice per hour with my Norwalk 275. My M-1 is MUCH faster.
