You can still use cash to buy train ticket but it is not a good idea. Thank god now Webchat can link with the foreign bank card. It is much better because most of the train stations only take webchat not Alipay. Maybe this year is different.
@@rack78 but the first train ticket, you might still need to go to the station to buy. At one point, Alipay or train company needs to passport verifying you for buying a ticket online. I see the blogger Ken aboard he bought the ticket online but when he tried to cross, the gate keeper took his passport and went somewhere. When I first bought my ticket, they took my passport and verified too. After the verification, I could use the 123tain app to buy ticket online but that app is and only in Chinese. It is not good for westerners. Foreigners can book via Alipay sub program inside the app.
@@Tikiawuw You don’t have to. You can upload the first page of your passport, then go through the facial recognition in the app and you are all set. You don’t need to have a real ticket after that because the entrance of the train stations will be able to recognize your face automatically.
