    Thanks for the book recommendation about the Tudor books . Start reading with this. Great book. Where the crawdads sang - I didn’t read it but saw the film . The setting and pictures were stunning.

    I really enjoyed your walk. Such pretty scenery. It has been in the high 90’s here in Texas and high humidity. Like walking in a sauna. I just stay in and knit. 🧶😁

    Hi Ali, such a lovely walk and great to catch up on books. It just occurred to me when you mentioned the Korean one, that you and the girls particularly might enjoy watching the Korean series Extraordinary Attorney Woo and King the Land - both on Netflix - they're both so cute, heartwarming and wonderfully Korean. Cheers!

    I think of a hike as walking on trails, particularly in the mountains near my home. I otherwise take neighborhood walks for a little exercise. We live at 7500 feet elevation. Nothing is flat around my small city. Always glad to watch your podcast!

    I love a good boardwalk! We found an amazing one on holiday this year and it seemed to go on for miles! Those woods look so green and lush after all the rain we’ve had - hence the mud! Hope your trainers scrubbed up well! Strangely Gayna made a cottage pie this week and incidentally, so did I! Good comfort food after your hike! X

    I take a three fold walking pole. It folds small enough to go in my pack. It’s not because I’m unstable but it’s useful for testing ground, a third leg for jumping puddles or streams and for moving brambles and nettles out of the way. My dodgy Dodgy arrived today too 🥰

    Really enjoy your walks (hikes : ) and book talks. I am always interested to hear about how you rate a book. I am not good about sorting it out. Hike is when you get your trainers dirty! LOL
    Walks are shorter in duration and able to be enjoyed by any age group with relative fitness. Hike: A hike tends to be longer and harder walks that are usually on trails through the mountains or trails through bush or countryside terrain. The trails are generally visible trails but not the smooth surfaces of a walk.

    What a lovely walk/hike. I think because of the distance, and because you were on a trail in the woods, that it was a hike. I find I can't listen to a book beside a busy road. I can't hear it, even with the volume up. Very annoying! I need to move to a town with only electric vehicles! :)

    I'd class it as a hike, any long walk with varying terrain through woodland/rural areas. Your GoPro footage is a lot more blurry than the other footage, maybe you need to tweak the settings or how it's uploaded because I'm sure the GoPro films in 4K but it's a lower quality footage. I loved when the horse got so interested in you, horse nose boop 😍 also a book called A Gathering Light by Jennifer Donnelly is a written a bit like Crawdads, with two stories, one in the past and one in the future and a murder with the timelines eventually colliding. I read it when I was a teenager and it stuck with me.

    What a lovely vlog! If I were to visit England, I'd love to take a nice long walk with you and maybe one at the seaside too! Loved the book chat. I am going to start The Rivers of London by Ben Aaronivitch for my #Britishbookclub on June 1. I also plan to get 500 miles from Jun through the rest of the year- I wanted to start at your halfway point. I've been walking, just not logging the miles. Maybe my smartwatch can tell me how many I've done already... ❤

    don't think those trainers are washing machine safe. Just give them a good old soak for a few hours and the mud should clear easily, maybe also using a soft brush. So, when does a stroll become a walk? and when a walk becomes a hike? I want to know! I'd say it's the effort and the landscape that determines it.

It’s normally pretty laughable how our accents are portrayed here in the South, like waaaay over the top, but this movie was dead-on. I didn’t even hear an accent in most of the movie because that’s just how we talk down here. 😊

    We do have them in British Columbia, Canada, but not where I live in the far north-east part of the province as it is too cold for them. We do have black bears and grizzly bears, which I could do without.

    • @highlandheffalump
      @highlandheffalump 2 місяці тому

      I’m sure Ali will respond but in case she doesn’t, no we don’t have skunks, raccoons, nor groundhogs or chipmunks. Depending on the woods it would be badgers or foxes (both mostly nocturnal) potentially some deer living in them. No bears, coyotes, or any sort of animal that could cause much harm. I don’t know if they have adder snakes in Kent, we have them in Scotland
