Oh Ali, I've been buying lots of DVDs from childhood series. I have really adored wandering through memories of different times in my childhood. Some have really stood the test of time, others less so.
I do think that part of growing older is the wonderful feeling of reminiscence and half remembered things. Enjoy xxx

Hi Ali I have the cloth bound Alice in wonderland, my eldest son gave it to me on my last birthday, he also gave me pride & prejudice & tales from 1001 nights for Christmas, such beautiful books 😊
I don’t remember The Children of Green Knowe but I noticed the name Daphne Oxenford on the dvd cover. This brought back memories from my childhood listening to her on the radio. (We didn’t have a tele till 1960!) I think it might have been Children’s Hour. Well done for rescuing the 🐝, I love them. Glad you had a good birthday.
Happy belated birthday! Did you see Jen Campbell gave your channel a mention yesterday? (Sunday). I love it when my favourite channels all connect. It's like a little web of loveliness in a often horrible world.
I think it's fun to see how people set their "cozy spots" up. I liked seeing your spot on the sofa where I can imagine you sitting and watching TV and knitting/crocheting/drawing.

All the beautiful scenery on your walk...when you showed the underside of the bridge/overpass I saw knobby bits hanging down, it reminded me of years ago in our local shopping centre we had a McDonalds and all the teens thought it funny to throw the pickle up to the ceiling where it would stick....uck...management didn't clean it off very often...double uck.....Love your book haul and love receiving books myself. xx

Well done with your bee rescue, i was so glad when he grabbed onto the stick. I love furry bees 🐝🐝🐝. I also spotted the squirrel leaping alongisde the path. I'm a bit squirrel obsessed as currently watching Dani Connor Wild's UA-cams of her baby red squirrel rescue. I love picnics of any kind, indoor, car, outdoor, you just can't beat them!

Can’t remember the Children of Green Knowe at all although it sounds like my sort of thing! Your books look very interesting. I’ve always loved David Copperfield and they filmed it once where I was working and it was a nightmare for a week or so! X

My birthday also is April 19th had a great day very relaxing hubby took me to the States went to the craft stores as there is more there than here in Canada B.C then after on are way home back in Canada took me to a lovely restaurant for a beautiful birthday dinner great day was had lol then my son made a birthday Salmon bbq dinner last nigh with the family he is a fanatic cook I learned him well lol enjoy the rest of your birthday month Alli! I love your bookhaul! That David Copperfield edition is gorgeous! 😍 It’s actually the Puffin clothbound edition. (Puffin is the children/teen imprint of Penguin.) I love the Penguin clothbounds as well, they’re SO PRETTY! I once found the Jane Austen box set of Penguin Clothbounds at a charity shop in almost pristine condition for a ridiculously cheap price and it made my whole year. 😆

I read “Days at the Morisaki Bookshop” earlier this year. Loved the quotes from other authors within the book. And the passage that read “…all the dust and bits of trash that had been floating above the ground like evil spirits”. Splendid. May you find moments in every book.

Yes, I remember Green Knowe both the books and the TV show. It’s always so nice to revisit childhood favorites. I recently treated myself to copies The Secret Garden, Swallows and Amazons and The Railway Children I don’t think we’re ever too old to re-read children’s classics are we?

The David Copperfield I think is a Puffin edition, not Penguin (same company, different collection I believe. Lilia must know more than me!). I got a Puffin in Bloom edition of Anne of Green Gables, illustrated by Rifle Paper & Co. Gorgeous little things! And speaking of animals, was that a ñandú or avestruz you saw in your walk? I never thought I'd see one of those outside of Argentina! Live and learn...

I remember watching the Children of Green Knowe with my girls. We really enjoyed it and my elder daughter went on to read all the books in the series. In fact they formed part of her dissertation at University. It is possible to visit Lucy Boston's home and to be amazed by the topiary in the garden as well as her patchwork in the house. 🇬🇧
