Although technically it was my only pof and match app dates haha, they just both turned out pretty terrible! At least none of these guys wanted to murder me... It could have been worse. I will say that I have been on POF. Here is my experience so far had some very exceptional dates and some not so. Of course, since I met my girlfriend there and have been going out for some time now it seems that she has been avoiding seeing me. So, I tried to log back into my account and couldn't. I will say that the last time I did log into it had a different profile pic and description. So, I created another one. So far, I haven't got any responses. I am sorry to hear that you women all have had bad experiences on there. I was wondering if you all have any thoughts as to why I might not be getting any responses?

What I've summed up based on the whole online dating thing is that:
1. Most people expect instantaneous chemistry and most don't put enough effort into getting to know a person through consistency and mutual effort.
2. Most everyone is online and VERY FEW people are having much luck, because most have dating a.d.d. meaning they can't and won't focus on getting to know someone.
3. Most people on dating sites are flaky based on the above reasons.
4. Then there are TONS of already involved and married people on single's sites seeking extracurricular situations.
Those are what I've observed.
You're beautiful, you are enough and it's NOT you. I feel that traditional ways of meeting and getting to know someone are much better and people have more success.

I've been on a date where I was essentially outright rejected, so I can relate! Dating is scary, because you never know how it's going to go. And it's only natural that you allow it to affect you, and question what's wrong with you. But you're just not going to be everyone's cup of tea. You can have a million amazing qualities (which you do, by the way), and yet someone still may not like you. But there will be plenty of others who appreciate your beauty / personality / sense of humour etc. So just know that it's not a reflection of you as a person, it simply wasn't right. And you will find someone who is absolutely smitten with you and thinks you're perfect, and that's infinitely better than being with someone who is half-assed and not 100% sold. As hard as it is, you just gotta keep taking chances and putting yourself out there - it will pay off! Xx

Actually, Dean, that has and never will be my strategy when it comes to dating. Looks are in the eyes of the beholder anyways. What I find attractive the next girl might find unattractive. If a guy shows me he's intelligent, has a good humor, and yes someone I find attractive, those are the guys I go on dates with. Someone's personality can make them attractive though, and your comment is way too judgmental to come from a place of knowing absolutely nothing about me, or my character.

Women are more evolutionary inclined to consider things like character and emotional maturity for longterm relationships, since thats whats needed for stability and commitment.

Elon Musk can almost have anyone he wants because he is successful and rich. You say it’s so easy for females but honestly it’s not. For a girl if you want a good guy you have to be pretty or else it’s much harder. When a girl doesn’t meet society’s standards of beauty they meet a lot of guy who only want them for a hook up. For men it does not matter what you look like if you are successful, rich or funny. I seen so many guys that are very average but with really pretty girlfriends because he can make her laugh all the time. I have seen zero good looking guys with woman who are funny but average looking; close friends but that’s it. In fact my current fiancé said he had a best girl friend that was hilarious and she had a huge crush on him but he said he couldn’t date her because he wasn’t attracted to her. Man are visual creatures.
I’m not sure how old you are and don’t want to discredit you when you say that you are more talented than Elon Musk but you have this air of entitlement. People in life don’t owe you shit. The sooner you realize this the better. It’s a hard lesson learned with experience. To be honest I’m sad that there are people like you out there with so much (health, youth, money) but is so bitter. To have those three things makes you truly blessed. I see so many people without health that wish for a second chance at life but can’t. People in their final moments wishing for more time and for one loved one to be there for them. As a first date with this guy, since I was not feeling him, I decided that a double date could be an experience and would be fun, well it was the most awkward experience of my life, I'm usually bad at making conversation but for once I felt so embarassed that I kept talking and even when I was asking simple questions to him he just responded "yes" "no". My friend and I ended up litteraly running away from the guys and lied to leave them
I hate people like that who only answer questions with one word answers. It's just rude, because unless you're cognitively disabled, I know that you can expand further. The double date was a good idea though, that would definitely make me feel more at ease. Haven't ever done it, but it's a smart strategy!

It's difficult to put yourself out there without knowing what the other persons intentions REALLY are (just hooking up, trying to get over an ex, boosting their own ego, ect). It's exhausting! I know you may take this the wrong way, but when a person is sickly they want to feel a special kind of love and connection that only a partner is willing to give. Btw nobody chooses to be sickly and to say he should be around friends only is not fair and is judgmental. Who is to say, that could have been the one great love of a lifetime. The majority of people do not want to deal with it and turn away or turn a blind eye. It is natural human instinct to be attracted to a stronger, healthier mate which in turn drives human reproduction. People will sit there and say "oh I would not do that" or "I would never leave" when in reality they do. I myself have become disabled and my wife cheated on me and left me for another because she did not want to deal with it. the sad part about it is I believed she was my one true love. :(

I went out with a guy from match who had ulcerative colitis. Anyways I paid for our romantic date to go on a small boat cruise around the bay, he spent the whole date in the bathroom. Went on a second date where he saw his ex there and informed me he is back with her now and is leaving with her. So it could go both ways. She’s not judge mental, she’s realistic. Just like the ass I dated was sick and should not be on a dating website either.

I have done this for a while and I am much older than you. Lessons learned! People often post photos that do not look like them. This gets worse as you get older. Also remember that what you read is the persons best self image. Take it all with a grain of salt and just look for hints or things that are deal breakers.The matching claims are BS. These sites do not dig deeply enough into anyone.
Most important these are the most blind of any blind date. Do not expect too much. If the meeting works good. If not that is OK also. Meet for coffee or tea, something like that. It is public and not expensive. You will know in about 30 min if you are interested. If not just excuse yourself to go to a previous appointment or just say "I don't think this is a match for me but I really appreciate and thank you for meeting. NOTE - this is not a date! Don't confuse it as one. It is an interview. Mutual but still an interview!
Finally it is all about numbers. Remember you are just shooting into the dark. Expect 1 out of 10 meetings to even result in a first date where you go and do something that allows you to have time to get to know each other. Expect that 1 out of 10 first dates will make it to a second date. If it gets to a third date then perhaps.
This is not like the traditional blind date where a third party knew both of you.
If you look at it as just a process that requires time and effort, then online dating offers is a larger pool of possibilities than you might otherwise have. That is its only advantage but an important one especially as you move from school to the working world. Also look for clubs and activities that you might like such as dancing, hiking etc. Online dating is not magic or instant. It can require time and effort unless you are extremely lucky

Beware of all of the sites. I have a rule that if I am swiped or contacted then it will be nothing but texted conversation until we agree to talk on the phone. We would only meet after a considerable amount of phone talking. By then some type of relationship has been established. The meeting then would be matter-of-fact, place unimportant

You never know what those experiences might be good for. I had periods in live when I was single for 2-3 years, and being single doesn't mean that we're worth any less, just that we're destined to spend that time on something else but love, especially on loving ourselves for ourselves and on self-improvement, studying, hobbies and socializing.

i've had a really bad date from match.com. i was on match for only three weeks after paying for the 1 month subscription. i was 20 years old at the time and was home for the holiday break. one man named joey or jeff (i kind of forgot his name) was exchanging messages with me and eventually we exchanged phone numbers. this man doesn't really like staying on the phone to talk so it was hard getting to know him via text and on the phone. we eventually decided to meet up at starbucks. he arrived half an hour late. we sat down, chat, and drank coffee for about an hour or two and it was just so plain......... it was nothing but small talk. i hate small talk... then my grandma kept calling me on the phone to tell me to come home because it is past my curfew (my curfew is 9 pm, i know, i'm an adult with a curfew). he probably looked at me as a child because he kept asking me how i feel about his age (he was 30 years old at the time). i even accidentally burped in the middle of our conversation which made it funny yet embarassing at the same time. i go home and he asks me how everything went with my parents and i told him everything is fine. we kept chatting for another few days and agreed on a second date. however, he ended up standing me up. so i just blocked and reported him on the website. then, i eventually met my current boyfriend on match after exchanging emails and texts and grabbing coffee. funny story is that on our second date (which was on valentine's day), he and i got robbed :(. but we made the best of the situation! as for match.com, i guess it's a hit or a miss for some people. it only took me three weeks and going on 2 dates to eventually find someone i am happy with. it has been sevn months since my current boyfriend and I have been together.

I think texting a guy right after a date to say thanks is good but stop at that, if you can just told him before you left saying it was a good date you had fun and thank you, go home and left it at that. The small talk is really not needed about the puppy. Sometimes I feel like guys needed time to generate and organize their thoughts before deciding if he wants to pursue, give him some space to think and to miss you possibly if it was truly a happy date. If you keep texting him and trying so hard to "keep the conversation going", he will feel your eagerness to be with him and that gives him too much pressure and a sense of clingy-ness as a red flag. Of course that's just my humble opinion, you are beautiful and seems to be a very nice girl. Just no need to be desperate for love, if they don't see you as valuable, then is their lost. Guys are funny breed, they love freedom and afraid of commitment. They like to chase and not being chased. Just love yourself and give out positive energy that shows him, that you will be fine without him and you are totally fine to stay single, he will come around. In other words, stop caring so much :) It's an odd concept but it works. Cheer up!
The point of the small talk after since she said she made up the story about the dog was to see if her instinct was right and that he was like not into her or was ghosting. Like I kinda get what you mean, but if he was feeling it he should have been able to do a little small talk. The whole having communication right at your fingertips complicates things so much, that I think people expect rapid fire responses.
Yes, I totally understand the feeling of "is he going to respond?" whenever I send a text to a guy. And then I realized, you know what? Let him come to you. At least on the first date, he needs to show his interest. If you guys been on couple dates and he is stable and showing interest on those dates, then you could pursue him more often to build the rapport and show him you are interested in him too that he can pursue further. If he doesn't even pursue you on the first date and asking for a second date? He is just not interested in you. So either way, no need to text him or contact him once you express your thanks for the first date honestly.

I've been ghosted, stood up, dumped and trashed on a lot of first internet dates. But I am a guy. I know the odds are truly stacked against me. Yes, it hurts and makes me feel less than and it can make you feel like a fool but it is internet dating and that is the chance you take. You don't ever know what to expect. It is extremely frustrating when you get dumped on a 1st date or stood up and it can easily ruin your evening or weekend and lower your self esteem but just try not to let it and just move on.
