- CK3 Israel is one of the rarest formable nations. CK3 Rare formable nations is a hotly debated topic but israel in ck3 can only be formed via ck3 decision. You have to be Jewish and take the holy land - defending yourself from any CK3 crusades. You also have to start in CK3 ethiopia and try to form an empire. CK3 jewish faith is one of the rarest religions out there as only a few counties start with it!

Didn't think I'd need to do this but here we go: THIS IS A GAME! We're not talking modern politics. We're not talking about current issues. This is a game where a man from Ethiopia decides "Yeah, aight, Israel sounds like something I'm going to do today". I'm not having people be anti-Semitic or anti-Arab in the comments, we've all got better things to do with our day. Like watching this video that UA-cam hid from you - ua-cam.com/video/CkaaQgWGSYM/v-deo.html
It's only game why you have to be mad?

I think the important thing is to give bonuses not just based on a culture or religion existing but rather based on how it would be practiced. CK3 I think does that really well. There are religions and cultures that are more warlike and ones that are more economic but its entirely down to their tenets not any inherent part of the faith or culture. You can have peaceful economics focused versions of any faith, you can have violent expansionist versions of any culture, it all just depends on how that faith or culture is shaped in your game, imo at least that takes it far enough from being just a stereotype to be acceptable
Well that’s not exactly true. Not all tenets are available to all religious groups like warmonger isn’t allowed by Christians. But it’s def a flexible game

I enjoyed this one! I’d love to see more episodes making your way through forming some of the more hidden nations.
I'm pretty sure the AI doesn't like to revoke vassalage. They only revoke titles directly, which means you'd have been safe to just give that land to a new vassal.
Giving land to your children isn't actually a terrible idea, you just need to be paying closer attention to what you're granting. This is actually how you properly manage partitions. If your nonheir child is going to inherit something inconvenient, you can grant them an equal or higher title ahead of time, which will fulfill their inheritance. If you're just granting to your children without checking the territory and inheritance, though, and you'll cause more problems than you solve.
The Restore the [Faith] High Preisthood decision is a little better than just remaking the title, as it makes the head of faith your vassal, gives you prestige, and boosts the faith's fervor. But it's really not a huge difference if you'd rather have the head of faith. Since having the head of faith as vassal isn't as powerful as it was in CK2, it's mainly just a minor boost to asking them things.
It’s mostly just powerful if you temporal revocable-that way you can appoint your HoF as your bishop. They often have insane levels of learning. I usually try to land my HoF for my reformed religions. But as Judaism isn’t a reformed faith situation, not quite sure what doctrine they have for appointing the bishop.
@@Ulriquinhoas rabbinism I established Israel and r established the high priesthood and my bishop became HOF. I revoked my bishop from random courtiers and gave it to the new HOFs it’s probably different on pc but that’s how it was on console
@@Ulriquinho Judaism isn’t reformed??
Avignon papacy moment. Having a HOF as your vassal should be a lot more powerful.
@@christophersalinas2722 oh it is reformed, I just meant I don’t know its laws off the top of my head to know if it is worth having the HoF as your vassal. With my pagan playthroughs, I can make it so it is worth it. Sorry, I was typing this at 4 am and was struggling with words.
i love this!! hope to see more!
I recently finished an Outremer run and it was great fun. Start in 1066, win the first crusade and off you go conquering!
I'm genuinely so glad at how mature the paradox community is. Being Able to have genuine conversations without escalating things.
0:47 - Bro she's like a literal Tsundere, and he's Paranoid with Wrathful? Oh boy what a fun time for both of them.
The AI definitely won't revoke your vassals unless it has a revocation reason (and I've never seen it do that when it does - usually it revokes your primary title)
It's funny you bring up where to draw the line with specific historical topics because I've been thinking recently that Paradox has done an excellent job with that. Take slavery in Vic3, there is no benefit outside of roleplay in keeping it, there is no glorification of it, and at a certain point, it's almost like the game is trying to make you abolish it. Across CK, EU, HOI, and Vic I've personally never come across an instance where I think they had crossed a line and I'm a pretty left-leaning guy. In fact, I'd say the opposite has happened in every GSG that PDX has made any nation that had aspects that were considered positive PDX has ramped that up to another level. So that you get things like Prussian space marines, Spain colonizing the entire world by 1550, and overpowered Viking MAA.
There ought to be slavery and slave trade in CK3. That was the main trade for Vikings anyway: Selling Christians to Muslims and Muslims to Christians, due to fact that both religions forbid to own slaves of your own religion; hence Lindisfarne.
Unfortunately, that's not much different than the real world. Slavery died out in the west not because it was immoral, but because it was unprofitable. If a worker you hire in the mine dies due to coal lung, it's no big deal put out a job posting. The new miner will work for a few years for a few dollars, then die. But when a slave dies you have to buy a new slave, which could cost hundreds times what a wage costs. Slave owners were incentivized to keep their slaves healthy, not out of any sympathy or human decency, but in the same way you keep a machine well maintained to avoid buying a replacement. Not so with wage laborers. This is why slavery persisted in the plantation south of the US but not the industrial north of the US.
As an industrializing nation in Vic3, you are incentivized to do the same.
@@CSDragon Primarily because in vic3 you cannot have slaves working in factories, at some point you have trains and tractors and chainsaws everywhere and have minimal use for manual labor but need a lot of labor in your factories.
In real life slavery was mostly ended by western countries because it was immoral, slaves were not that expensive you wouldn't have been able to keep the slave trade going, and dying of black lung would take ~a decade or more depending on living conditions and could be where you sent older slaves, and considering they had enough military might to continue colonizing Africa and Asia they would have been able to forcefully obtain slaves instead of buying them if they wanted.
Anyways without western countries keeping the slave trade banned its come back and there's now more people enslaved than there was before it was "ended".
@Paul Gauthier But slavery was abolished in some places *far* sooner - even back in the medieval era, long before industrialisation was a thing. In the 1220s, the Sachsenspiegel (main law code of the HRE) condemned slavery on a religious basis (calling it "a violation of man's likeness to God"). And in 1315, Louis X of France proclaimed that any slave that steps foot in France should be freed. (Unfortunately, that wording was considered as not applying to the colonies established later on) Sweden and Norway also took measures against slavery around that time.
In some places, sure, maybe slavery was somehow unprofitable. (Though...I don't see how. It's not like slaves were incapable of working in factories.) But even if it was "incompatible with industrial capitalism", that doesn't explain why it had been abolished for so long in other regions - and it seems to me that the reasons at least in the HRE and Scandinavia were actually about morality. And I don't see a reason why that couldn't be the case, at least in some regions, in later eras.
@@piculra7441 that is possible in some cases as if a ruler heard a heartfelt speech it wasnt that difficult for them to do somethng about it but even back then there was still the fact slaves didnt pay taxes which couldve convinced them

I see modifiers that are given to a religion or culture is how their values would shape the society. For example icons in orthodoxy in eu4 give you stability for example or decrease unrest. It might be that there's a ceremony during war that might distract the population from the destruction.
This is one of the most fun ideas to pull off at CK3. Enemies everywhere and tons of claims to be made but Paradox added several flavors into rebuilding Israel.
"Everyone hates me because I'm Jewish" -all of Jewish history
In terms of playable starting Jewish charactets in CK3, there are three faiths that are present, there's the Haymanot Ethiopian Judaism, there's the Khazarian Judaism, and there's actually one character that is a vassal of the Khazars that's follows the Rabbinic faith (east of Crimea)
Apparently he's a possibly historical (but also has a slight chance of not being real) person who was responsible.for coverting the Khazars.
I tried to play as him twice a few months back, the first game, ironically, I had my title revoked in a few months, so instant death,
while the second time it became somewhat tedious that I just gave up. (I think I formed the Kingdom of Caucasus an stopped)
I only last November discovered Sam Aronow's channel that talks about Jewish history starting from the Stone Age, and has recently reached 1906.
His video production quality is really damn great (and thankfully he's not the anti-Arab/pro-settlement type)
thats pretty cool, its interesting to hear about these figures who managed to convert people peacefully enmasse.
In somalia there was a guy who was responsible for making the religion spread a lot and then that same guy went to places in asia like sri lanka.
that one dude had a massive impact on east african history by merely doing some preaching.
if it wasn't for people like him its possible the 3 way struggle (islam-christianity-waaqism) would have led to waaqist dominance since the later oromo invasions were lead by waaqist tribes.
a monothiest non-abrehamic religion could have been dominant pre-colonialism in the area hypothetically, but Islam and christianity had the help of outside sources to spread them so its still unlikely.

I'm not so knowledgeable about many features in paradox games that could be considered offensive or stereotypical, but I know about the indulgence system, mainly in Ck2. So, as far as I'm aware, the other PDX games are similar to ck2 in that you pay the Pope money to have your sins forgiven, aka you exchange gold for piety. It's a common misconception nowadays that indulgences were simply a "pay your way to heaven" scheme. In Catholic theology, indulgence is an action you can perform to heal the wounds left behind by your sins that were already forgiven prior, thus lessening your time in purgatory. Of course, an indulgence you can perform is one of charity, so many wealthy nobles would use this and pay the Church a sum of money as an easy indulgence.
I could just be assuming they're portraying it as the stereotypical version, and they're not being specific either way, but I would like it if they clarified this a little more
In a precise part of the map , when you open the map of religions in Asia there is a point where once there was Christianity after a DLC they changed it to one of the Muslim religions , try to start a game at that point

well, the jews were pushed into the moneylending and banking business, because especially in the middle ages there were laws forbidding them to do any other labor. so it would fit in europe, but not in persia for example.
It was also illegal for catholics to take interest on loans, which means they had to use a bunch of silly loopholes to make banks work, unlike Jews who had no such stipulation.

5:00 - Your liege would have to revoke the vassal first to do that, and that is fairly rare for the AI to do, at least that I have seen, as they risk you going into revolt and taking other vassals with you for a tyranny war over it.
No the issue is he cannot make a new vassal because he isn't a duke, without the dutchy title the new vassal would immediately go to their dejure liege as you cannot have a vassal of the same rank as yourself.

heres the answer: anyone who goes out of their way to get offended by these things should not be taken seriously. because such people are not playing the game to enjoy it, there are alot of people nowdays who are looking to find stereotypes so they can get offended and show everybody how moral they are. people who are playing the game to enjoy it, would not be looking to get offended, im an arab, i played the hell out of generals, and the GLA faction there has terrorist units you can recruit, i still enjoy the game. its too silly to take these things seriously.
Laith is from jerba confirmed?
Personally I'm Jewish (I'm not religious) and I see my culture represented in these games and I'm confused, Judaism is a very philosophical faith as it believes and promotes learning and you never really see it in games like this while the nomads get cool bonuses and the Vikings get cool bonuses that it sucks that a widely practiced religion doesn't get represented for what it is
yeh I was a little surprised to see the only real CK3 empire thats Jewish be the Khazars and have a religion called "Khazarite Judaism" despite the Khazar theory being heavily debunked and steeped in antisemitism. It's a shame the devs had to rely on a debunked conspiracy to add more Jews in the game.

On the matter of people being mad about concubines in CK3 or slaves in Vicky 2, I think if adding the thing has a tangible gameplay effect and is historically accurate, such as concubines being important for you to have more heirs and thus simulate more complex successions and slavery being a huge flaming debate throughout most of the non-European world, it belongs in the game. The aspect of WW2 removed from HOI4 should stay removed as god knows what kind of people would appear if Paradox implemented it, plus it doesn't affect HOI4's core gameplay loop in any manner
The holocaust?
Denying history doesn't help anyone. It happened. It had a massive effect on the countries of the time, and any historical games should have all these events included if they are relevant for the time period and gameplay of the game (which such massive events as the Holocaust obviously are for political simulators of the Carl von Clausewitz style).
Lynchings, Pogroms, Death Camps, et cetera have massive effects on the nations that dabble in them. Whether we talk about Askenazi Jews in WWII Germany, German-Americans in WWI America, or Kulaks in USSR, all of their mistreatments had massive effects on the economics and subsequent politics of the nation. If nothing else, concentration camps have massive segments of the population imprisoned, entirely dependent on logistical supply, and being used for back-breaking manual labor. This has so many effects it applies to the nation even if we ignore the rest of the horror.
@@Alex_Fahey Yeah I agree that if a game covers the political aspect of WW2, the Holocaust is a topic that must be covered
HOI4 does not cover politics however, it does not even attempt to simulate how that era's politics worked, it isn't a game about the political machinations of the 1936-1945 period, it's a game about WW2's combat, and how to develop large scale strategies to defeat your enemy in a battlefield. The Holocaust, while it did affect German capability in the field, was not a definitive factor towards the war, but rather a background "civillian" affair
@A Possibly Heretical Alpha Legionnaire Have you forgotten the focus tree and the entirety of diplomacy and even the decisions page and the spy mechanics? You completely change the course of political history in as absurd ways as overthrowing a resurgent Russian Monarchy allied with a new German Empire using your Communist States of America while allied with a Communist France and Britian.
It is a flagrant lie to pretend HoI4 is anything remotely resembling a pure warsim in the vein of a higher level Command: Modern Operations. HOI4 is massively focused on high-level political posturing as if you were a controlling secret society steering the course of your chosen nation. Open warfare is the culmination of those acts, just like in all of Paradox's games.
@@Alex_Fahey National focuses are not an accurate representation of politics, diplomacy is all but useless except for a few focuses or if you are doing an alt-hist multiplayer roleplay game but I'll give you spy networks.
I still do not think that the Holocaust is a necessary thing for the simulation of HOI4's mechanics. HOI4 is the Paradox game where war is the biggest payoff, like any of them you have to build up for it yes, and as you said you can alter history by focuses, but war is the meat of HOI4 more than it is any other Paradox game. If Victoria 3, a game focused on economics and politics, covered the WW2 era for example, the Holocaust would be an invaluable mechanic, but HOI4 does not, so I do not see it as necessary
I feel like it’s very important to bring up the extremely undesirable aspects of history. I feel like Paradox games have a very special place in my heart because they teach you a lot about history and open the door for you to do your own research. I personally believe that the Holocaust, the atrocities done to the Korean and Chinese people, and the things happening in the Soviet Union should be brought to light more in Hoi4. I think it’s very important to show just how bad totalitarianism and extremism of both the right and the left can affect a nation.
Try to form Bene Israel Also
Am I the first viewer? Damn
Interestingly while Paradox tries preventing players from creating horrible events like the holocaust, rape of nanking, and such in hoi4, I've always been bewildered how Stellaris lets you straight up eat and enslave people, you could say inclusion of slavery in vic is similar to this but it's extremely unprofitable unlike stellaris.

It's abstracted in Stellaris. Plus, aliens aren't people. It's why you can blow the multicolored brains out of aliens in recent halo games but it's not rated m.
I think it's because of the abstraction. But there is a double standard. The rating is also absurd. In Germany it has an age rating of 6 years. What kind of six year old would understand Stellaris?
