I’ve been on Tret for nearly a year now and I love it!
That Ole Hendrickson cream is the best thing I’ve used.
I unfortunately timed it badly so I was dry flakey and chapped in winter time so definitely think ahead!

I’ve been using Agency for about 6 months, slowly increasing the percentage of the tretinoin. I’ve just recently started peeling around my mouth and nose and MAN does that Medature PSL moisturizer help! That is a FANTASTIC cream to pair with your tretinoin. It instantly gets rid of the flaking and peeling. I had to go back and buy a 2nd jar during their 30% sale they just had. I can’t live without it now!

Trick from Lab Muffin: add a few drops of facial oil before to increase the slip. You need only half the tretinoine to cover face and neck. That is the only thing that worked for me!

I needed this video and I’m so glad you made it. I’ve been using a prescription retinoid along with clindamycin for my hormonal acne and it does dry me out so I use it very sparingly on my fave-I use more on my body acne since that’s still an issue. It is also harder to wear makeup as it clings to my flakes even if I lightly exfoliate and moisturize. But all in all, it had made a huge difference in my acne and I’m getting less breakouts now. I’ll probably try the mask method and see how it goes.

I've been suing tret for almost 4 weeks and I have have rosacea along with sensitive skin. I recommend using a gentle cleanser (cetaphil has one, or cerave, etc) and then using the sandwich method which means you put on moisturizer, wait 20 min, than put on a pea sized amount of tret, wait 20 min, than put on another layer os moisturizer. I've been using this method since my first week on tret and I've never had to deal with any peeling or extra irritation so far. The moisturizer I personally use is the oat gel moisturizer by aveeno. Also try to incorporate tret slowly, maybe once a week.@@annastrongwolf13

I started tret on my chin/jaw area last summer and started over moisturizer every 2-3 days and every week bumped up. I didn’t use it under moisturizer every day probably until the winter. I have somewhat sensitive skin, and only once did my face even get red or peel. When it does, I go back to over moisturizer that day. Happily using .025 on my t zone now and hope to move to my cheeks eventually (my cheeks are clear so I get scared of the purge 😅) good luck everyone!

My advice: follow all these steps and take your time for many many months, be very patient! I was so scared of irritation with tretinoin that I really took my time, using lots of moisturisers, layering etc. After 5 months of no irritation, I was so proud of myself - until I got this really annoying and painful spot next to my lip caused by retinoid! Tretinoin got me in the end! It then also got me when I started using a new spf, little tingling feeling, nothing too bad. Building up tolerance really needs LOTS of patience.

since the weather is getting hot, let us make sure not to point out someone's:
    -scars
    -body hair
    -cellulite
    -extra skin
    -loose skin
    -tummy rolls
    -stretch marks
    -self harm scars
    -dark underarms/inner thighs
-hijabs (asking, "Isn't it hot wearing that?")
    -acne
    -eczema
-vitiligo/other skin conditions (people may just not understand them)
    -how much weight someone's gained
    -how much wight someone's lost
If it's not something they can fix in five minutes (smudged makeup, food in teeth, messy hair), then don't point it out. It's rude and none of your business...

Yeah I learned my lesson the hard way. I started using Altreno everyday and my skin was crazy inflamed and peeling. So I now I skip one day in between each night use so that I can have that day in between to repair my skin. It has worked wonders no peeling or dryness and i have severely sensitive rosacea dry skin. Also i think the type of Tretinoin formula you use makes a difference. Altreno is great if you have dry sensitive skin, for me it was user error cause im so impatient.

I started using tretinoin after my 21st birthday, and being an over excited young gay I directly jumped over the 0.1 strength tretinoin (with no experience of tretinoin in the past).
But magically I never had any major irritation on my skin. Yes, my skin flaked, burned a little but it was all bearable that I didn't stop using it.
I started with using it every 2 days, which I later changed to everyday after 1 month (I always used the sandwich method).
But yes I was a skintellectual as I was watching lovely Cassandra and I was taking proper precautions with tretinoin, so maybe that helped me.
It's been 2 months of me, using tretinoin and my skin is in a better place.
Note : It's just my story, don't use tretinoin as I did. Otherwise you could literally burn down your skin. And yes if you think my tretinoin was duplicate then trust me it wasn't.

Ooh...That's awful. I don't know if it's worth it. I've been on tret for about two months and I have the skin of a 16 year old...And not in a good way! LOL I mean, I don't have wrinkles, but I broke out practically the second I put it on my skin and the zits aren't going away. They're definitely better, I have less of them, but I'm wondering if I made a mistake. I'm using it for anti-aging, so my skin was completely clear before I started it. I'm wondering if something like adapalene or an OTC retinol would be a better choice. I've tried those before and don't remember having any problems. Plus I had a lot of redness and peeling when I first started the tret. That only lasted about a week, but I did walk around for a week looking like I had a horrible sunburn on my face. I Facetimed with my therapist and she was like, "Are you OK?!" 🤣

  • @Kristine_202

I stopped peeling really quickly. Like within 3 or 4 days. It's the acne that bothers me. I had adult acne and then it eventually went away. (I went on a weight loss medication that seems to have completely changed my body chemistry, so my oily skin turned to dry overnight and my acne disappeared.) I started tret for the anti-aging benefits, but it made me breakout like crazy. I've had the same pimple on my chin for two weeks! It's one of those deep, nasty, cystic ones. Right now (fingers crossed), it's the only one I have, but I've been on tret for over a month, maybe two. I'm ready for the acne to go away. (I have been using the sandwich method and I only use tret every three days.)

    • @Kristine_202
      @Kristine_202 Рік тому

Let me now if you have any luck figuring it out! This is my biggest issue right now too. (First world problems. LOL) I'm very fair and never tan, but I like to use the sunless stuff, especially in the summer. I recently lost a substantial amount of weight and my skin is kind of wrinkly and crepey. (I'm also in my 40s but always looked way younger because I don't have any sun damage.) I use tret on my face and adapalene on my neck, but then I also use other products for stretch marks and cellulite and the few spots where I have some excess skin. (Along with exercise. Of course that helps better than anything.) Oh...And I have keratosis pilaris, so I'm constantly putting all of these different creams on and exfoliating, dry brushing, etc. My self tanner was just like, "Ha! Good luck with that!"
I went to the Eras tour last weekend and planned a really cute outfit and ended up just having to wear body makeup. (And obviously face makeup.) My skin right now is like 14 different colors. LOL I don't know what to do. But I do know that getting a "real" tan is not the answer!

    • @DRVenard
      @DRVenard Рік тому +1

I stopped using self-tanner 😉I wasn't using it on my face due to tretanoin use, then started using it in my body lotion last year (remember the retinol body lotion trend last year🥴) Well, now my Yan doesn't last 4 days. And I got tired of trying to match foundation to the tanner. I won't ever use tanner on my face again. I paid too much $ on removing my darl spots to darken them up again. I say, "Embrace your paleness" 💗🦋I did💗🦋💗🥰

When I first started Tret (0.05%) I used it every day and sometimes even slathering it on and sealing it in with moisturizer lol. I have never had that period of sensitivity and I’ve been using it now for 2 yrs. My skin is fine but I wonder if that means I should be using a higher strength (not because I want irritation but I’m concerned that it is too weak for my skin!) has anyone else had this experience? Do people just stick with 0.05 or increase to 0.1. for maximum results?

These are the same methods for starting even low dose retinol right? I’ve been adjusting for a year now and never had issues. Right now I am using the Ordinary Grenactive one which you recommended and said it’s pretty much the highest strength before Tretinoin (with less irritation). I use it every day. If I now go up any higher, do I use the new strength with the beginner methods again, like a few times a week and then increase or do I just “level up” as soon as I’ve been on one strength for a while, as in get Tretinoin next and then use it every day too? Hope that makes sense…

If you took @ccutane and/or any kind of oral isotretinoin in the past and your body reacted badly to it, be very careful using tretinoin topically. Your body could naturally have developed a hair-trigger immune defense against it, and the slightest amount could cause big adverse reactions.
