Probably one of the best underrated light gun shooters.
Definitely. Love it
@@VideoGameEsoterica The replayability of this game is enjoyable.
When I was a small child, I do see this arcade demo but...
The gore was soo terrifying and end up having a nightmare for days...
But because of that, I forgot this game name until today...
Seriously, this game difficult was rather hardcore...
No wonder why it became a childhood nightmare (dream)...
I mean it’s gory for an arcade game. Like on the high end for gore so I get it!
If only there were more lightgun shooter games like this.
I really wish the light gun genre would make a big comeback
They had this game at a (now closed) local arcade in my town, it was literally just sitting in a Mechanized Attack cabinet, no real changes to the artwork at all aside from the marquee.
Haha weird. I’ve never seen a conversion of it, just the original SNK cab
Video Game Esoterica The arcade I mentioned before had all sorts of weird stuff, like some imported Sega and Konami cabs from Japan sitting in their own room, separate from all the other games there.
Sounds like an interesting place
Video Game Esoterica Haha yeah it was, I remember playing House of the Dead and Daytona USA a lot there when I was younger
I’d love to find a nice condition HotD cab at some point. One of my all time favorites
Wow I didn't realize this was not emulated yet and you used original hardware! Very impressive!
Yep OG hardware capture
Between this and Die Hard at my local arcade we're just so worth all the tokens I had
Oh there is one at your local arcade? Where abouts? I haven’t seen a cabinet since like 2007-2008
This game looks like HOTD on steroids. Found this arcade cabinet on ebay for about $925.
Not a bad price at all for the cab. A mobo and cart go for well over $600 now
Could You explain me how to play this? I started with mame emulator but the video has a lot of problems
That’s as good as MAME can do. To really play the game you need original hardware. That’s what I am using for this video
Did this game have green blood instead of red i remember playing this game but the zombie blood was green
Maybe? I’ve never checked in the settings but sometimes you can change the violence levels
@@VideoGameEsoterica It has both, you just have to work through the test menu.
Noted
No My helicopter
Lol
This is far more intense than House of the Dead
Yeah it goes hard
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
This right here....priceless.
Thanks. One of my fav arcade games of all time
Reminds me of the House of the Dead, pretty cool none the less.
Def HotD vibes but I prefer this one
The house of the dead Neo Geo Version =)
Basically!
@@VideoGameEsoterica wrong
BEAST BUSTERS HAD it first game released in 1990 before house of the dead!
Well sure :)
I love the bouncing when they get shot alot.this shat makes shooters stand out is exstra violent animations.
The gore is on point for sure
A very difficult rail shooter by SNK.
Yeah it’s not easy. Quarter muncher. Luckily I no longer need quarters :)
Is this a cabinet you buy and capture? Or are you playing with the PCB and gun controller connected to your TV? (JAMMA)
Pcb and supergun with a custom controller I built myself. Check my previous videos. I show the conversion process :)
Heavily underrated game!
It needs a very powerful mame emulator with some right specific file components in order to run properly, it's not gonna be easy.
Yes on MAME you need to bring a high test system
@@VideoGameEsoterica Well, i have no much clue where to find it but i notice this game gradually running better with emulatore getting gradually enhanced, it might requires more time to get it perfect.
It’s had some updates on the performance side. Sound is still a no go
@@VideoGameEsoterica The sound is not the best at the moment but is fairly playable since the MAME is powerful enough.
Sooner or later, the MAME team will power up further the emulator to make the sound go properly as well.
They should take time to upgrade the emulator.
My childhood Light Gun arcade shooter aside from Time Crisis 2, which is far more tolerable to play.
It took me forever to realize that this game is named Beast Busters...
The whole game difficulty is very harsh and unfair, heavily focused on 2 players focusing on each side.
There are many cheap damage such as small hitbox on side, dead enemy launching projectile, chain attack,
...and the Arcade gun is heavy, mounted gun. Very hard to aim. (especially kid)
Death means reset score so Oof. Overall, hard to enjoy unless free credits + partner.
Spent around 6+ Credits and gave up on Stage 3 boss.
Never knew there was a sewer level bcs someone just gave up on Stage 5, and I just kind of lol, beat it. xD
--
Nah, boss 2nd phase... = =" more credits gone xD
...and the machine just gone the next few months I visit the shopping mall bcs it's far from my home.
Hence my memory about this cursed Credit muncher fade.
Haha it’s def hard but when I first found it in arcades back in the early 2000s I dumped enough money in to see the ending. I just straight up fell in love with the game. The first chance I got to add it to my collection I grabbed it
Does anyone know if this is finally running on MAME?
It is and it’s decent. Not great. Just decent
@@VideoGameEsoterica I remember when I last played it the zombies would either become floating torsos or just disappear just like a bunch of assets within the game, prior to that the game would run extremely slow. It was incredibly buggy. Last I tried it was in like 2015 or 2016. I'll give it another shot now and see if it has improved a bit.
Yes you can 100% play and finish it now
前作は痛快グロテスクシューティングって感じだったけど今作は割とホラーやってるな
I am using google translate : それは間違いなく最初のゲームよりもはるかに多くのマチとホラーの雰囲気を持っています
Beast Busters Sequel.
Yep!
@@VideoGameEsoterica so Beast Busters the Original and The Second Nightmare.
Correct
Sad we didn't see level 2 and 3 bombs
Every time I went for the bomb button I’d die 😂
how can i play with this?
It works in MAME. Kind of
@@VideoGameEsoterica tried with mines but no works for me :( could give the link of your mame and roms?
I’m not using MAME and roms for this. I’m using original hardware
Nice
One of my fav all time games
Are you playing by the actual arcade board not emulator?
Yes this is on an original board
Can we emulate this game yet? Are you playing on real hardware?
Real hardware. It emulates but it’s glitchy. Still fun tho
@@VideoGameEsoterica Damn. I wish I could play this game.
I mean you kinda can in MAME
What's wrong with the control? I see you struggle a lot with your crosshair movement
I need to replace the potentiometers. It’s old so it “jumps” around a bit. You need to use a DB15 flight stick for the conversion and those are all older
@@VideoGameEsoterica i see. If only it works with the mouse, it will be better!
You could possible use an old style mouse. The one with the ball in the bottom
@@VideoGameEsoterica it is rare now. Can't seem to find it that easily. Thanks for the answer man
Very rare. Maybe a few machines / boards come up for sale a year
I really need to get a copy of that game ASAP
Last I saw there was a mobo / cart combo on eBay for sale
Yep still there. I just searched “beast Busters SNK”
@@VideoGameEsoterica arent there roms of the game or is it still not emulated?
There are roms out there
@@VideoGameEsoterica which emu can run this ROM?
Too bad there are no survivors to save them.
Every time someone comments on this video it makes me wanna play the game again
Yo imagine if this game was on the Nintendo switch that would be awesome 😎 yo
It really would be
@@VideoGameEsoterica thank you I'm glad we can agree on that yo
Highly doubt the Switch has the processing power needed for that game.
To handle this?
Is this actual hardware? Seems... ODD to have a cursor on the screen in a lightgun game.
It’s an X/Y coordinate gun. The standard term is “light gun game” but many arcade gun games use a cabinet mounted gun with two analog potentiometers that spit out X/Y data. Hence the crosshairs
But yes it’s real hardware
@@VideoGameEsoterica Ah, I was wondering about that, since I've only ever seen the "light gun" type before in the arcade setting. Interesting that SNK and others were already hard at work trying to figure out how to cope with lightguns on non-tube monitors.
Even when CRTs were all that existed companies used the gun mounted analog controls. It’s more accurate technically. But yes a lot of gun games now use X/Y coordinate or IR sensors
Perfec.
looks no damage clear is impossible
I can’t imagine it being possible myself lol
