My simplistic view on Freewill vs. Predestination: God is so infinite, and exists outside of time, he knows the choices we make before we make them. So what feels like Predestination is really just "Yeah, I knew you would choose that."

Derek Webb has been pro gay and trans for awhile and sort of left actual love and truth behind years ago. I'm much more familiar with Webb's solo work, and I'm really saddened by all of this.
Yep it’s heartbreaking to see how far many “Christians” of today have fallen, choosing to believe what they want over what God commands, making God out to be the villain instead of our sinful nature, Webb is yet another casualty that we continue to witness particularly amongst any “famous” Christian musicians, they put themselves above God and consider themselves to be more loving which is utter foolishness.
He must know a completely different set of Pentacostals and Calvinists than I do.
I am a Pentacostal, and I have had an understanding that God has to draw someone since my teens. The Calvinists I personally know ignore that "God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance," as well as God's command to go and preach the gospel to every creature.
It's like I'm receiving a transmission from the Mirror Universe! There's a sketch here somewhere.

For self help books, many conservatives believe it’s wrong to read them because it’s seen as part of the selfish “self love” movement. I personally call them “mindset growth” books. We grow up with wrong mindsets about so many things, school doesn’t teach you crap when it comes to mindset, so they are necessary to reshape the way we think if we are to be of use to our family and the community and society.

@18:21 we in our fallen state have the knowledge of both good and evil. (Gen 3:22) Man is a marred image bearer of God, and also a sinful image bearer of Adam. (Gen 5:1-3) God initiates in salvation but that's not to say man is so dead that he can't respond to the gospel as total inability suggests.
The Old testament is filled with people who were not born again, but yet sought God through faith. We can't merit SALVATION, "for there's none good no not one," but we CAN respond to the gospel and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. ❤️
I think Jesus was being careful with who understood what he said sometimes because He knew He’d eventually be killed for claiming to be the true King and He was trying no to be killed before it was His time. I think the “secret” of the Kingdom of God is that it arrived with Him and He is the King.
I prefer the Kingdom of Heaven. I’m always surprised how few churches never touch on the parable of the Kingdom of God considering how much Christ repeated it, more than anything else. Like it’s applicable to our daily lives ;) hallelujah!

I will say there are certain passages in the Gospel that seem very Calvinist, but I also see passages that seem universalist. So just like any theology, we should interpret our theology with scripture instead of scripture with our theology. Some Calvinists have the issue of saying they only hold to plain text, but then seemingly very prominently force certain very specific interpretations that to the plain reading, it does not mean what some say it means, ie Timothy 2:4 for example. Anyways that's my two thoughts, I have a lot of reformed friends and all the leadership at my church is reformed so I get exclusively the Calvinist perspective most of the time.
@16:34 as a non-Calvinist who reads and listens to and read Calvinist material, I can't endorse Sproul now that I became familiar with his quote of Jonathan Edwards referring to irresistible grace as the "the holy rape of the soul"? 🤢 There's no context that I can justify that sort of gross and forceful fatalistic determinism.

Is there a Christian school of thought that believes that God gives humanity in general Free Will, but in certain instances won't? Free will, "Except for you. You're going to believe whether you decide to or not, because there's something I need you to do."
NOO DONT TURN INTO A CALVINIST we should not deny free will because freewill is a gift from God. And no if a calvinist is reading this I don't believe our freewill is a work and when we choose jesus we don't get credit for the choice, or credit for any work we do for God's kingdom, but saying people don't have freewill is saying that God does not give us something he really does give us with him being rich in grace and mercy. Also it's not your destiny to be a calvinist.

Israel is not a complex situation, but it does require doing your homework.
The verse of the day is absolutely saying that Jesus intentionally obfuscates truth for those who are perishing. Parables are not meant to include everyone... they are meant to exclude the shallow and thoughtless.

I would encourage you not to write off Arminian thought as though it isn't taking the Word literally for what it says. I promise you that there's a reason election and predestination have been a mystery argued about for centuries, it's because the truth is found somewhere within the healthy tension between free will and the Lord's determination. It's always easier to gravitate to extremes than to live in the center of Biblical tension.
