I like Courtney but I think this was a bizarre music selection... The way the team was chosen made floor a weakish event for team USA and it cost them in finals.

Agreed! With the exception of Mohini B.

@@LotusPandaCrane yes I love Mohini's floor routine from this season. She had a very mature presence and I liked the choreography and tumbling. I would say mohini is my favorite gymnast from this Olympic team, her story is a truly incredible one filled with perseverance and never giving up. Too bad this code of points on floor in particular was so harsh with the jump combination and leadp combination requirements. If she hadnt been denied credit for that one jump combination she probably would have been on the podium in floor finals.

@@LotusPandaCrane I’d argue Mohini was just as strong as the other Americans with the exception of Patterson. The issue with the entire American team on floor in Athens was that they constructed their routines to hit 9.9-10 SV by dance combinations they always had trouble completing. The Athens judges were super harsh with giving credit for the dance elements and were deducting for stumbles and incomplete turns on them. Kupets was going for a 9.9 SV but that double tuck jump she fell out of probably cost her 0.2 (incomplete and no CR as it was connected with the double turn). Had she done that cleanly, she could have scored in the 9.5 range or even a 9.6.
Mohini kind of got lucky she got credit for her Popa-double tuck jump in qualifications as it gave her a 9.9 SV and a 9.525 score to qualify for team finals and leap-frogged over McCool and Humphreys as a floor worker for team finals. As we saw in team finals/floor finals, Mohini almost never hit that dance combo and her other dance elements were small and weak. She really would have scored 9.325 for a “clean” tumbling routine almost every time. It just so happened that the one time she got credit for it was in team qualifications, which sealed her fate in Athens in terms of how many times she would have competed on floor at these Games.
Regarding McCool, she actually received a very high score considering the mistakes she made and when I count the deductions and the score she actually received for that mistake-ridden floor routine, I believe if McCool had competed the floor in Athens as she did in Trials, she would have made team finals with a healthy and competitive with Ban/Sofonie score. We really could have used a healthy Memmel or Yim at Athens though. They always hit their dance elements and scored well on floor internationally because of it.

@@SDoesNotKnow In team finals Kupets got the following for SV:
      CR met for 8.8
      Double straight (E=0.2)
      Arabian double front tuck (E=0.2)
      Switch leap (C) into Gogeon (D=0.1) (0.1CV)
Full twisting front layout (C) into front layout (B) (0.1CV)
      Double pike (D=0.1)
      So 8.8+0.2+0.2+0.1+0.1+0.1+0.1=9.6SV
She attempted a double spin (C) into double tuck jump (D=0.1) (0.1CV) but that wasn't credited (and she got hit for additional execution deductions). If credited it would have given her 9.8SV which is still too low to be competitive.
And yes, Bhardwaj's routine was designed to have 9.9 SV which when combined with Kupets' 9.8 SV routine made floor a weak event for the USA.

Her robotic dancing and lack of artistry wasn’t able to pull this music off. You can see her thinking about her next skill instead of putting on a performance. This is a problem with the American gymnasts for so long and I blame their coaches.
