- We have been HEAVY into Star Wars Jedi Survivor and I have been loving every bit of it. But yesterday I dived a bit into my nerdy Star Wars side and talked about Star Wars The Old Republic so today I had to fully dive into it

These cinematics are all legendary but nothing will top the one with the twins. The pacing, the deep storytelling in basically no words, the incredible facial expressions and animation. Seriously masterful

For clarification, The whole faction with the Twins, the dad, the sister, etc. are neither on the Jedi or the Sith's side. They are not all Sith in nature, but they are their own faction called the Eternal Empire which is why you see them attacking both the Republic and the Empire in the trailer and why they use yellow lightsabers instead of red or blue lightsabers. (With the exception of the mom)

The Disney retcon for crystals is instead of having all these different crystals with different effects, now there's only one type and the color depends on the energy you pour into it. For instance dark siders fill the crystal with rage and hate to make it "bleed" red.
As opposed to my personal favorite dark side crystal the extremely rare Qixoni, created when a sun went supernova and destroyed a nearby civilization. Every swing of the blade echos the screams of the race in their final moments before extinction.
God that just sounds horrible enough on its own. I'd never want anything that makes a horrible sound especially a weapon. Nothing about that whole crystal sounds cool, just edgy teen cringe.
Ah…this explains something from Jedi Survivor to me now.

The old republic hits different. To this day that era is my all time favorite time period of star wars. There are so many fascinating stories and characters that I could spend hours reading up on. And the cinematics are pure art. The amount of effort, passion, time, and funding that went into them are insane! Disney is beyond stupid for not wanting to make anything with the old republic. Then again, they'd probably ruin it, so it's for the best
i know i should respect all the movies and tv shows and that the story of star wars originates from the movies but to me the old republic is cannon and everything else isnt

@Hybrid the sad thing is the devs of swtor online said they hated the fact they were forced to make a mediocre game they put a lot of effort into it and it shows in the writing. The gameplay should have been the same as other star wars games a 3rd person action rpg but because of the success of Wow the owners wanted a copy of Wow because that's what makes a successful mmorpg by their logic. We could have had the best Star Wars game ever made, but it was another case of rich non gamers interfering in the work, making everything worse

The twins are actually part of their own order, their father is the reincarnated previous emperor of the sith at the time. They waged war on both the Jedi and sith and almost crumbled them entirely until you as the main character of the line get mind/soul tied to the emperor and stop him. It’s pretty gnarly

Valkorian isn't Vitiate reincarnated, Tenebrae can split his mind and soul. Vitiate and Valkorian were their own people until Tenebrae possessed them.

To answer your lightsaber color question: Disney retconned it so that the crystals don't come with a color. The color comes from your relationship with the force. Also the twins weren't Sith. They didn't adhere to the light or dark side of the force. Their father, Valkorion, was actually one of the bodies of the Sith Emperor but that's going down a whole other rabbit hole.

@@bigred212 yeah the old colors were arbitrary and didn't mean anything. Now green usually indicates someone who takes the approach of a consular and blue indicates a guardian. You have characters like Kit Fisto who more closely align with a guardian but have a green lightsaber, same thing with Luke.
@@bigred212 Have to agree to disagree on that, the color being a choice rather than alignment to me was personally better, also it allowed for, and explained the variation you could see in the games. Things like the Darksaber wouldn't inherently indicate your force alignment just that you had picked the appropriate crystal, which in itself was part of the journey of constructing ones saber.
@@isaiahsmith7123 fair picking a crystal yourself is awesome and if imma be honest that freedom of choice is how we got so many cool characters. Tho since they made it so the force decides that. If I'm a jedi and are starting to go down a grey path, would the crystal turn white immediately. Or be bluish white like both mixed since I'm leaning on both sides technically 🤔.

Your attunement to the force chooses your crystal color, but the crystal still goes in the saber.
You bleed your crystal with your trauma and pain to make it red the hard way. Later on, the empire synthesizes the red crystals for mass production for inquisitors so no one has a real saber except for Luke with Anakin's saber as well as Kal Kestis and Galen Merrick.
Quick edit: The list of people with real lightsabers I put was pointing out Jedi with sabers but including Sith, Vader, and Kylo have crystals that they bled and not mass-produced ones.
And here i thought Inquisitors bled their own lightsaber crystals.

There's nothing about synthetic red crystals in Disney canon
That's one of the few things about Disney cannon I liked. Saber bleeding is such a cool concept versus the original idea that synthetic red crystals just cut better.

Im with you! My main reason for playing swtor & feeling like a Sith Lord he gets to be in charge & make decisions. Only Star Wars game out there that allows that immersion.
Honestly same. I was blown away how immersive it can become with playing with friends. The whole rolling for dialogue options and the inclusion of all party members during important moments. Is a feature I hope future games use 10/10

SWTOR was my first MMORPG and I was following the game a bit before I had a pc or laptop to play on it. And bruh one of the main selling points for me was the option to play as a Sith, but be a GOOD GUY. We all know Jedi can fall to the dark side, but what if a sith can actually be nice and not always strive for power and use the dark side to do some good. That makes it so my Sith doesn’t have to be an asshole and I can be nice to ppl I like and kill who I don’t😀!

Kyber crystals are still the source of color, they just changed how that occurs.
Also the Infinite Empire (the twins and Valkorian) was trying to destroy both the Jedi and Sith orders to replace them with Valkorian's order.
Valkorian was also Darth Vitiate, the Emperor of The Sith Empire.
The Sith that always interested me the most from the old republic was darth nihilus, the power to suck the life force out of even planets is Just so cool

When you were talking about how extreme the Jedi were I think that’s the whole point of episodes 1-3 Qui Gon sees that the order is failing and how the current council are losing their connection to the force because they were so extreme and fell of the path of what Jedi were supposed to be. This is why he wants to raise anakin the right way since he was supposed to balance out the force( he does this by destroying the Jedi then sith before episodes 7-9) but if Qui Gon was still alive maybe anakin would’ve brought balance a better way
He was wrong about a bunch of things though. The Jedi didn't abduct kids. The rumor that the Jedi did steal children was mostly popularized by Palpatine and his propaganda. Similarly, you can voluntarily choose to leave the Jedi Order whenever you want. The only thing "extreme" about the Jedi Order was their doctrine emphasizing the suppression of emotion. But there's no actual enforcement of that rule? Just a warped idea of what an "ideal jedi" was. Look at Anakin. Dude was far from the council's idea of an ideal jedi way before he seriously started slipping into the Dark Side, but the dude basically only got a slap on the wrist and some reprimands whenever he was "too emotional".
They still have crystals, but they are now connected directly to the force. but they don’t have a pre-established color. They start off colorless, and gains a color based on your attunement in the force. With the sith, they have to take a Jedi’s crystal, and overwhelm it with negative emotions and feelings. So they have to break the will of the crystal, which turns them red.

Also, disney canon works on the crystals being alive; and connected with the user's force. with the colour reflecting your personality more. The bigger thing they changed is Sith Crystals being bled with negative emotion than being Synthetic like in legends.

It still has crystals. For a sith to turn their lightsaber red they have to make the crystal bleed. And when Ashoka got a white lightsaber color, she healed the crystal. Basically the crystal is treated as a living organism. (I know too much about this franchise)

It’s still a kyber crystal but when you do the meditation and imbue your own Force energy into it to form that connection, the color that comes out is a representation of you.
But there ARE other crystals that have their own colors that you can’t change.

To be fair I started it again yesterday and the starting area was pretty well populated. Lots of people there, some activity in chat, it was far from dead.
Not sure what server you were playing on, but Star Forge has a very healthy population. You can find some people leveling alongside you in the earlier planets.

Saying that the Sith get their power from negativity is not entirely correct. Their power comes from passion, which can theoretically be any emotion positive or negative. It's just that fear, rage and hate (the natural pathways to the dark side) are the easiest emotions to channel and sustain. Theoretically, love could be used the same way, though in case of the Sith Empire having a loved one was always a risk because it made for an easy target. The Jedi on the contrary get their power from forsaking worldly attachements and dedicating themselves to peace and the force itself.

I am currently crying so hard right now. This is seriously the most beautiful, well put together story ever. I can’t believe how magical it was 1:12. That part truly made me shed a tear. And especially at 2:34 that part was just so truly heart touching words can not describe the series of emotions I felt. I absolutely loved the climax it had insanely excellent detail. Oh and we can’t forget the conclusion. The conclusion was the greatest and saddest conclusion I have ever seen better than any of the books I have read. Thank you so much for creating this absolute masterpiece. This is essentially the most important masterpiece of film history. It is a tragedy that this, it can’t be called a film, but a transcendent emotional experience, will be inaccessible for most. It beautifully encapsulates the human struggle to its basics; suffering, pleasure, faith, despair. It connects with the characters within the viewers, individuals suppressed within our own subconscious. It stays vibrant, fresh, and revolutionizes the art of storytelling and filmmaking while making a damn of statement on what it means to be human. Entertaining, gripping, and simply exhilarating. This might be the most impactful piece of art I’ve come across in my life, and I’m definitely coming back to it in the near future to study it more deeply. this is an absolute masterpiece , I was brought to tears listening to this and seeing the chip go whirly swirly in a circle countless times. it absolutely moved my soul , and I don't think I can ever be the same. this bacon has changed my entire mental state , I am now at peace with who I am and what I will be doing later in my life. i have forgiven all my enemies and now I am a man of a pacifist life. I will move on , gotta move on , as the song says. the chip is so inspirational , it shares it vast wisdom with all of us , and we are all so lucky that it would bestow it's great words with us. we are all children on chip . hail chip. hail chip . The spinning chip, rotating in one direction with this music... This made me tear up. How could such a bacon do such a thing? I'm struck by awe by this masterpiece. Especially when the chip spins, showing its lightly salt covered yellow skin. I can hear the crunch just from here, and so as the beautiful sound of the chip scraping the dark, smooth velvet floor. The flavor, music and everything can be heard, tasted, seen and felt from a screen. You can really hear the breaths between the music artist, empathizing her love for this rotating chip. Truly what I call modern art. This was the most legendary performance by any piece of chip I have ever watched. The acting was top tier and very life changing. This is one of the greatest work from a piece of chip I have ever seen especially on 1:42.I am currently crying so hard right now. This is seriously the most beautiful, well put together story ever. It beautifully encapsulates the human struggle to its basics; suffering, pleasure, faith, despair. The work put in to this is incredibly inspiring. The graphics, the animation, the music, so much thought was put into it. This has remined me that you can do anything you put your mind to. Not even mentioning the memories, this makes me feel like an infant again, just laying my eyes on this beautiful masterpiece gives me all the good feelings in life. I also understand what happiness is again from this. Not even to mention the most incredible part that is 2:10. chip spinning has changed my life for the better. It connects with the characters within the viewers, individuals suppressed within our own subconscious. It stays vibrant, fresh, and revolutionizes the art of storytelling and filmmaking while making a damn of statement on what it means to be human. Entertaining, gripping, and simply exhilarating. This might be the most impactful piece of art I’ve come across in my life, and I’m definitely coming back to it in the near future to study it more deeply. this is an absolute masterpiece , I was brought to tears listening to this and seeing the chip go whirly swirly in a circle countless times. it absolutely moved my soul , and I don't think I can ever be the same. this bacon has changed my entire mental state , I am now at peace with who I am and what I will be doing later in my life. So much great graphic design, so much suspense, so much greatness in this one video. i have forgiven all my enemies and now I am a man of a pacifist life. I will move on , gotta move on , as the song says. the bacon is so inspirational , it shares it vast wisdom with all of us , and we are all so lucky that it would bestow it's great words with us. we are all children on chip . hail chip . hail chip. The spinning chip, rotating in one direction with this music... This made me tear up. How could such a chip do such a thing? I'm struck by awe by this masterpiece. Especially when the chip spins, showing its lightly salt covered yellow skin. I can hear the crunch just from here, and so as the beautiful sound of the chip scraping the dark, smooth velvet floor. The flavor, music and everything can be heard, tasted, seen and felt from a screen. You can really hear the breaths between the music artist, empathizing her love for this rotating chip. Truly what I call modern art. This was the most legendary performance by any chip I have ever watched. The acting was top tier and very life changing. This is one of the greatest work from a piece of chip I have ever seen especially on 5:42. I am crying. This has made me go through an emotional rollercoaster. I cried, beat off, and also watched a movie while watching this premiere. This has made me go through so much. I passed depression because of this. It really inspired me to become an outstanding young man. well pleased like chip. Thank you.

I play this game semi-frequently. Still love it even though I've finished all the class stories and expansions so far. It has a ton of story content and I think it is good. There are still at least 1000 committed players, but yeah it doesn't get a ton of new players anymore.

the old republic era of star wars is so much more interesting and fascinating and epic than any other era in star wars and thats simply just a fact, and i'll die on that, the regular stuff is like childs play compared to anything in the old republic
The Old Republic is one of my favorite games of all time, and it is by no means "dead," although it definitely is slowly losing population.

old republic was amazing when it first came out, I started playing when I was 10 years old, I am 20 now and stopped playing about 2 years ago and I still visit it every now and then. It was such a good game man the atmosphere environment even before all the major DLCS I loved that game and it will always have a place in my heart

The 2nd cinematic you watched those two were brothers of o different faction known as the eternal empire. Their father was secretly a Sith Lord reencarnated, and the eternal empire fought both the sith, and republic. In fact the sith empire and the old republic actually teamed up to fight the eternal empire due to the massive threat it posed. They won obviously and went right back to fighting. And the brothers were delivering the sabers of sith generals and Jedi generals.

The Taking Kids and raising them as Jedi warriors. Reminds me of when in the God Of War Games talking about taking kids and training them as Spartan Warriors. Kratos being one of them, which is a historic thing that happened.
The game isn't dead, it just isn't a mega game anymore. They just released a pretty big update a few months ago, and more keep coming. Only games that make money do that. You have to play all the classes to see the stories!
9:48 No, the force does not choose the color, but the force calls the jedi to the crystal which matches the jedi, basically providing the color if im not wrong.
Edit: Disney did messup the lightsabers though, as the jedi and i also belive the sith rules said to cherish and respect the lightsaber, while Luke just through it off a cliff just because he is no longer a jedi, while many (like Cere from the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order game) still kept it.

Valcurian, the father, is the eternal emperor who revan found before he became a sith. In the old republic game, he was experimenting . He got bored with being a sith and decided to have a family in another part of the galaxy. So, all the ignoring the valcurian did was to test to see who would embrace the darkness and who was worthy of the throne. Normal sith stuff.
Game has still huge amount of players considering how old this game is, i came back on it like last week leveled up my character to max lvl and now gearing up there's still plenty of people i don't know what you are talking about.
