Here is my favorite JB song... with one of my favorite lyrics if all the time...."and the benediction of the neon lights." Exquisite.
One of the best singer-songwriters that has ever lived.
The more I see the reactions to music from my era, the more I realize how INCREDIBLY ,SPECIAL WERE THE SINGERS SONGS AND MR
MELODIES OF MY YOUTH. Thank you, God, for letting me come of age when I did!!!
One of Jackson's best, try that girl could sing, one of my favorites
Even at his ripe old age of 74 he is still playing. I saw him on the taping of Austin City Limits here in Austin Texas recently and he did this song and it was so amazing. His voice is still there his guitar-playing is still there and he had a great backup band....oh yeah and he still looks good.
THE BENEDICTION OF THE NEON LIGHTS. Just love it.
Jackson Browne, like Tom Petty, has such a wonderful Nostalgic feel to their music. It's like the music just takes you back to a certain place and time. Everything around you disappears while the song is playing. Such an Amazing Escape, even if only for a few minutes. Timeless, Classic. Love it!!!
Jackson Browne: The great American song writer. I saw him first in late '77 on the "Running On Empty Tour". I was hook, line and sinker after getting loaded one night and listening to "The Pretender' while lying on my friend's apartment floor with speakers bookending both ears. Great song and reaction. Thank you, Sharla and Harri!
I've seen Jackson 14 times. The first time was in Nashville in '74. Bonnie Raitt was his opening act. He was my crush as well. lol...
Jackson 💖 One of our best. Writing, singing... Absolutely love him.
By far, my favorite Jackson Browne song. Great tune, even better lyrics. The Pretender is great, too, but this song touches me personally........there is this line..."tender is the night, and the benediction of the neon lights. Strikes at my very soul.
Reggae? Give a listen to Jackson singing "Everywhere I Go", written by Bonnie Raitt and David Lindley! That'll put some spring in your step!
Thanks, Harri for a great reaction!
From the 1983 album, " Lawyers in Love", a great tune with wonderful lyrics about the loving that happens at night behind closed doors that is so special.
With jaunty keyboards touches, the drums, and a magnificent slide guitar solo by Rick Vito, a sessions player in the 70's and 80's who joined Fleetwood Mac in 1987, this is a smashing little tune. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Sharla. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Please check out "Before the Deluge" and/or "For America"...
My first boyfriend went to Sunny Hills High School with Jackson...They were my high school's arch rival, (Sunny Hills Silver Spoons). I first saw Jackson in 1966 at a little place in Buena Park with the NItty Gritty Dirt Band, (thanks to said boyfriend), having no idea how important he would become to music. "These Days" is a song he wrote when he was only 16. Jackson is an old soul, it is a song you would never expect from one so young. He did a song..."Everywhere I Go" that is a cute reggae tune that I adore, I know you would like it. I have loved Jackson forever and see him every chance I get with my best friend of over 60 years.
Lucky you for being one of his early fans. I first saw him in early 1974. I was hooked!
Fantabulous
This is my absolute favorite JB song along with The Pretender. Part of the 70s SoCal sound that gave us the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt...
One of my favorite male voices.
Jackson Browne is on my personal Mount Rushmore of songwriters/ lyricists. My favorite album of his is Late for the Sky. I think it used to be one of his more popular ones, but it seems to have fallen out of favor over the years. But 80’s Browne is great, too, if you’re ok with that “totally 80’s” production style.
All this is such a great song when I was cruising with my friends
Sharla, this was a great choice. JB is such an amazing songwriter and so young when he wrote some true masterpieces. Thanks to you and Harri 🌺✌️
Song is so good founot again
My favorite Jackson Browne songs would be "Dr. My Eyes", "Load Out & Stay", & "Running on Empty". Check them out. I'd love to see your reaction to any of them.
Sharla - Welcome and a fine submission with Jackson Browne's "Tender Is The Night". Jackson's sterling career continues even today. Very well done Sharla and Harri.
Very nice song . Thanks for bringing it back to us Sharla Hulsey & Harri. That organ key trade off compliments the chorus so well. Classy. Whalllaaa!!!!
Another underappreciated band
Great artist. Try "Before The Deluge".
You can find that reggae vibe in several of his songs
A great great song! He's a great artist! Great reaction
Love me some Jackson Browne.
Have you done "sky blue and black"? Beautiful song. I've been deciding he does soul music of a sort, "soul searching" music.
Thanks Harri for another thoughtful reaction, a great Jackson Browne selection. Always look forward to your reactions and commentary, so right on. Peace
Jackson appears to be a reggae fan. Everywhere I Go and Till I Go Down are flat out reggae and World In Motion has a reggae tinge. When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opened, they had a huge all-star concert to celebrate and Browne did Bob Marley's Redemption Song.
Jamacia Say You Will..........
Fabulous!
💖💖💖
Harry, if you listen to David Lindley's own music, it is reggae.
💞💞💞
His best song for Adam. Silver lake late for the sky. Try the album late for the sky
That is my favorite album. (Late for the Sky). But I do love Song for Adam.....but it makes me cry.
Try Sara Bareilles Manhattan she broke up with her man you can hear it in alot of her songs years later it could bring several tears what a voice
You gave to get to the title track lawyers in live and i jope you get around to sky blue and black
You should listen to Jackson's song "Redneck Friend".
Great Song!!!
JB makes pleasing pop, rather 70s and a bit overproduced, but a musical change on the album 1983, especially LIVE the guitars came across as dirtier and more passionate.
JB was always clear on the Latino issue; listen to Lawless Avenue from the album Live In A Balance 1986.
It's a pity that you skip his brilliant songwriter album Late For The Sky 1974, sometimes very life-philosophical like the title track, Fountain Of Sorrow and For A Dancer or the No Nukes seminal Before The Deluge, as others also suggest you, with fantastic violin.
