    Great job. All the text makes it easier to pause and read your thoughts. Keep up the good work!

    Very nice, thanks. You showed me the part of removal I needed in exactly 1 minute 30 seconds. I gave up on other videos after listening to them flap their mouth for over 3 minutes, and still not show me a damn thing.
    Kudos.
    Maybe other video posters could take notice?

    This is such a great video! Perfect step by step instructions! I've had water dripping from front seat pillars on both driver and passenger side for a long time, and a nonworking (but closed) sunroof for even longer. I've got it all apart and will lower the headliner tomorrow to see what I can figure is the cause for the nonworking sunroof. Hopefully just junk in the tracks that bound it up, but maybe a bad motor, etc. RAM dealer told my mechanic friend I chatted with today that the only parts available from the dealer are 1) the motor for $300 and 2) the entire "module" which is rails, motor, everything as a single unit for $800. Not sure you can just get a single rail these days. Oh, careful with the T50 Torx bolts for the seat belts, they can strip very easily if you're not careful. 3 out of 4 were super easy to remove, the 4th was nearly impossible due to excessive Lock-Tite and I will be replacing that bolt due to the struggle-induced damage.

    This is great and super detailed. Two things I’d do before going in as far as you did: take a piece of weed trimmer string about 2’ long and gently work it down the drain pipe from the open sunroof, like working a tiny plumbers snake.
    Also, the 2 front drains pop out in the front door jamb between the hinges, below the big rubber wire chase. Make sure that isn’t gooped up with some obstruction. Mine was! It’s a flexible rubber fitting, just wiggle it around as water comes down. Maybe get someone to pour some water in at the top while you work the rubber fitting back and forth.
    Great video!

      you fix that without taking everything apart. Get an air compressor and blow air down the 4 drain tubes form the roof. 99% of the time, irt will clear the crud from the lines (you should still cut the nipples off the other end though). Try this first before you waste a ton of time pulling everything apart.

    Thanks much! I think I messed up... After water got into the pillar I tried blowing air through the drain tube. "pop." I think the tube separated from the sunroof... What next...? Do I now have to take the whole sunroof out...?

    Out of curiosity, what kind of epoxy did you use? My drain plug is broken on one side for certain and I have to take the liner out to check the back ones. The plastic is brittle so I'll either need to replace those drains or use the epoxy trick, but I haven't found epoxy that lets you mold it like yours.

    On 8:11 Did you Glues a tube ? where is that tube coming from I just checked mine and I don’t have a tube over there

    So , is my leak coming from drain tube or a faulty seal ?

    So do you have to take the whole car apart to blow a plugged hose? dang

  • @RASMYKL
    @RASMYKL 7 років тому

    Where was the water leaking from that made you have to pull the headliner entirely apart and check those drains?

    • @mintyhero

      I kind of explain it at 7:23 and after, the sliding drain that sits behind the sunroof had snapped off. I took the roof off 4 times, each time thinking that cleaning the drain pipes would solve my problem. I used a 2 part epoxy to glue the rail back in place and the leak stopped. Most leaks are caused by the drains being plugged, so unplugging those should solve most peoples issue, unless your drain rail is also broken.

      at 8:05 you can see where I glued it, it might not look pretty, but it's solid!

      Mine was leaking out of my A-Pillar/Drivers side grab handle. Been dealing with it for 8 months. Finally ended up having the dealership buy it back and now am in a 2017. Severe pain in the a... Thanks!

      My 08 2500 does the same! But my mechanic told me I could use a compressor to clear out the drains and cut off the ends to allow more debris to get through. Some guys on Facebook confirmed. :) I hope it works, taking my truck apart like this video freaks me out.

  • @stephenfloodphoto

    Are those drain tubes present only if there is a sunroof? I have a leak on my 2003 2500 with no sunroof. I've found on a forum that there was a weld that the robot missed in the passenger rear where the roof panel and back panel come together and water gets in there. Thinking about taking it apart like your video as sealing the exterior has accomplished nothing. Wondering what I will see with no sunroof...

    • @mintyhero
      @mintyhero  5 років тому

      I am not sure, but come back and tell us once you've taken it apart. The method of taking the roof apart should be the same, but I am not sure about those tubes, let us know. Cheers

    • @stephenfloodphoto
      @stephenfloodphoto 5 років тому

      The drain tubes were not present. I caulked the seems where the panels come together as I mentioned above and am still getting a leak, but it doesn't seem as bad... Although it isn't dripping down the grab handle anymore. I'm not sure where it is coming from. Any ideas? I've heard take off the door weather strips and silicone the screw holes and reinstalling weatherstrip. Going to try that next.

      @@stephenfloodphoto No drains in the back or front going through the pillars? weird, especially as it sounds like thats the issue, the truck has to have a way to drain the water from rain somehow, it goes in at the top of the door jam and has to have a way to drain. Wish I could help you more

    • @stephenfloodphoto
      @stephenfloodphoto 5 років тому +1

      mintyhero what do you mean drain the water? Why would water be getting in? There is no sunroof. The roof should shed the water right? Somehow water is getting in. It was dripping out of the bolt holes on the front grab handle and now it isn’t anymore but the floor along the sides is still getting damp after a hard rain.

    • @stephenfloodphoto
      @stephenfloodphoto 5 років тому

      @mintyhero when you say drains, do you mean tubes? I don't know much about cars and trucks, but it seemed to me like the water comes in at the top of the door and hits the weather seal that's around the door opening and goes around and down to the bottom and falls off the bottom. but the carpeting on the inside floor is damp. How would it get inside the pilar?
