In many European countries, minimum wage is a lot higher, bonuses are more regulated and a smaller percentage of wages. In my country, unions and collective agreements (I hope google translated this right) are pretty strong too. I think that system is mich better than one where you depend on bonuses which the CEO can just decide to cut. A bonus should be a bonus, not a shakier part of your salary.

@@gb2983 Yeah it is strange that the used market was doing so well. Similar to Cars here in the US. The problem is individual consumer purchases are not a large portion of their sales. Their sales are mostly large contracts to outfit entire offices that are newly built or refit old offices. This includes everything from chairs like these to desks, cubicles, and pretty much any furnishings these buildings require. In the last couple of years, these large construction projects simply have not been happening as much. Sure individual consumer purchases may have increased, but that's not where these companies were making their money.

DUDE YES!!! im so happy someone big i follow is bringing up the millerknoll story. my wife worked for herman miller for 3-4 years and started there a little less then a year before covid hit , when covid hit they laid off a ton of full time employees and dropped all temps at the time, they dropped the cafeteria workers/vendors and then offered voluntary temporary layoffs to the remaining employees who could then come back to work some months later when things cooled down during the pandemic , this happened in waves thru out the pandemic when the company felt like it had to many employees on payroll at specific times during the year. what herman miller did next with the freed up funds plus the government funds that companies could ask for during covid was purchase the knoll company. when employees started to come back from their temp layoffs they were forced into either taking a permanent layoff with a small severance package depending on what your position was or come back to work and work 6 days a week 10 hour shifts for over the following next couple years almost nonstop (i think my wife had maybe 2 full weekends off out of an entire year), this was mostly being done in high temperatures thru out the year as the zeeland michigan mainsite plant runs without AC on the factory floor and machines are always running extremely hot, there was employees that passed out from the heat and had to be taken for medical attention, while this was happening new management was slashing benefits/pto/holiday time off from employees and delayed that years (2021) bonus check to the following year (july 2022) and when employees asked why its being delayed they were told it was because the company was in a tough financial situation even tho the company at the time had just recently purchased an entire other company (knoll), so of course ceo makes a big dumb decision and the employees have to pay for it. there was rumors that the bonus checks were delayed as a way to get employees to stay longer since a large amount of workers were talking amongst themselves about leaving the company once they got their bonus (before they announced the checks being delayed) because new management was just ruining the company and general employee welfare was horrendous and back breaking but we'll never know for sure. every week employees attempted get a word in with upper management like team leaders trying to set up a meeting with the higher ups because they heard and felt the cries of their teams for so long only to either get some copy paste emotionless response in an email or nothing at all, finally one week after months of trying they managed to get a big group meeting scheduled with (i believe) the plant manager so the employees could voice their concerns and try to bridge the gap. the big meeting day came and everyone set up in a big room to collect their thoughts for this meeting that was about to start, low and behold the higher up did not show up because he called off the day of and sent in some new guy to take his spot for the meeting who had no clue what employees were talking about / much less even fully understood his own job at the time yet to soak up the complaints and give the higher up a quick summary of what was said the following day, nothing was changed and no voices were actually heard. more months go by and employees started dropping from the company like flies instead of waiting for their bonus that was delayed so herman miller didnt have to pay those that left the bonus that they had earned the year prior, staffing issues started to really ramp up at this point in the final stretch of the months remaining till bonus time and the company started shutting down lines / departments and outsourcing them to canada which then caused an influx of employees that suddenly had to figure out if they were getting a new position or just flat out being let go because upper management was just not communicating with the factory floor workers on what the big plan going forward was. It was a giant mess because the closer it got to the predetermined time frame of these lines/departments being shutdown any remaining workers in those areas had to scramble and look for other positions to secure their livelihood or risk being laid off which resulted in bad mannered / aggressive / sneaky tactics employees were pulling on each other like hiding information from each other on what positions/areas had spots available to try and more secure themselves in that slot over someone else which promoted more toxicity and bridge burning. after awhile of this going on that same higher up that skipped the big meeting I mentioned before came down and finally talked with the floor workers and they thought they'd finally get a word about their concerns in or at the very least get a better understanding of whats going on but instead he came to tell everyone that the amount of orders he was taking for the soon to be shutdown areas was not going to slow down regardless of the fact that they were very short staffed/skeleton crews in those areas at this point since no new hires were placed in them since the announced shutdowns earlier in the year and at one point during this meeting he even said "im not asking you to like me, im just telling you whats going to happen" (higher ups were constantly leaving early and never worked weekends so they always got to see their loved ones but didnt allow the floor workers the same privilege) , my wife told me that when he said that several very old employees that had been there for decades began to break down and cry because they were maybe a year or two away from retirement and at this point had been dealing with the horrible current work conditions for some time now, the amount of orders coming in were insane because millerknoll is an office furniture company and at this point many other companies had employees work from home during the pandemic and started to renovate / remodel their work spaces while the buildings were mostly empty so millerknoll was constantly getting big orders to fill out all the furniture in those buildings and crafting these items took a ton of man power like hundreds of giant slabs of very thick very heavy wood being worked and moved around with all day on a daily basis. some longtime employees had to get surgery on their backs from the years of work , 1 gentleman made it to retirement and died less then a week later to covid because his body was overworked and exhausted, it was just sad. when the delayed bonus checks came in a big exodus of employees including my wife quit and I think it was the best decision for them considering now this current video of the ceo andi being floated around just reassures me nothings changed since. theres a million other details of how horrible of a place its become to work there but i'd be here for hours, so I just wanna say thank you got adding your spot light to this situation and yes the actual real workers are amazing people but the leaders are just complete trash human beings.

Another time my girlfriend and I were having a baby and so I asked for some time off and extra hours, so he granted me a week off and extra hours, but 2 days into my time off he called me in and said I needed to call in if I wasn't gonna come. He also reminded me I asked for extra hours so he made me come into work and leave my girlfriend with our first new born all alone while she was till recovering. You should cover the situation at EY. They were going to split the company in two and bailed out, costing the firm over $600 million and now they’re laying off 3,000 employees since they’re at overcapacity. In the meeting they let employees know about the layoffs they confirmed e-mails would be sent out to those being let go in a couple months but they still expect everyone to work as if nothing is wrong.

This company I was luckily fired from about a month before this happened found out they were paying all of their sales reps about $500 too much per lead. The people they kept were forced to pay back about $10-20k each for the company’s mistake 😢 all docked from their paychecks. Also, they fired me because my sister passed away and I took 2 days off without hitting my quota yet 🤷‍♂️ so glad I was able to unknowingly rob them while I worked there 😂

Damn, for the most time I thought ludwig was talking to me to. They don't lead, but let us bleed. And they cut money at our end, while their salery goes up and up. Still coming to us once in a while and try to motivate us to work harder for one of the leading stock market representives. When covid hit, we worked double and triple, but in case of bonus they halfed ours and gave them a big chunk for working from home. In the mean time, we have to deal with the danger of covid with increased work load.
I also complained about one particular person who is verbally abuses us constantly to fill her ego, but it took me 2 years before I got the courage. And it was for the same reason ludwig said, sometimes complaining puts you in a worse spot than before and I rely on the job.

I used to work at a parts house, and made it very public that I was looking for another job. The regional manager came down to talk to me to try to get me to stay, but before he came down to talk to me, I wrote up what all my expenses are for each month (rent, bills, subscriptions (like $10 a month for Spotify), food, and gas for my car) and how much I was making each month at my current $/hr. I was bringing in negative $200 something dollars each month (on a good month, there's been months where I was upwards of $370 short) because what I was getting paid was far less than what I needed to survive. He said they could only give me a dollar raise at the very most. This same company has boasted about record profits for the past few years (even during covid!) but for whatever reason wants to let one of their best employees go because they refuse to pay anything reasonable. If I wasn't lucky enough to have my parents help me while I looked for a better job, I would have been FUCKED.
I didn't want much, I just wanted enough to survive, and they couldn't even give me that. The higher ups are so out of touch with reality it's ridiculous.
