@@ImSlipperyy not quite sure, I talk to women
Leaving your GOTY without content during the pandemic were everyone was playing games to then cancel what was supposedly developed during this time period gotta be one of the dumbest decisions in gaming history
They were too busy with harassing female employes lol
@Nadrieth: Yeah, but don't you guys got phones?!?!?!
I'm sorry, but at this point Blizzard is known for major fuck ups....
TF2 players: First time?
That's not really what happened. OW1 was dead regardless because it didn't have viable monetization since loot boxes were rewarded faster than skins were added to the game meaning no one actively playing ever had to buy a box. The changes and overhaul to PvP under the guise of a OW2 title was really nothing more than a way for Blizzard to justify restructuring the monetization.
As for the PvE itself anyone who knows the history of OW shouldn't be surprised. For one Destiny does everything that was promised but better and its not exactly the most lucrative franchise. OW is basically a recycled project from an already failed MMO Titan. OW1 PvE was basically a gimmick with little to no replay value. So the idea that a non-loot based FPS RPG was magically going to have amazing content and replay value was nothing but Jeff Chaplin's pipe dream failing for the 3rd time.
By what metric has OW literally ever been a game of the year? Compare it to any wow expansion and it's basically the redheaded stepchild...
Imagine being a developer working and polishing all those PVE systems just to be told it was a waste of time. Absolutely heartbreaking for players and devs
YES EXACTLY. I wouldnt be surprised if a mass quitting By angry devs happened at blizzard.
@@Crowned_Hearts we already had that, they even released "crisis maps" of things they couldn't work on anymore due to everyone leaving.
Those systems most likely never existed.
@@FenexDragonisThey did, they put out beta invitations for the PVE for some people to play. Too bad they don't exist now!
@@FenexDragonis They did lol. I've talked to an old friend who worked at Blizzard for the last 6 years, matches up with everything that the other dev(s) leaked online of the execs scrapping A LOT of shit because "The ROI isn't worth the investment when we're clearly making a lot of revenue with the new 'Battle-pass' system." Such a joke of a company.
One of the things that makes this so bad is that for the last four years their excuse as to why there was no content was that they were working so hard on the PVE and if we just wait we will see where all the time went. Now it turns out they actually just weren't working on anything, they stopped adding any updates to their GOTY for three years just because of nothing. As a long time OW player it is just incredibly depressing.
They definitely WERE working on it
The problem like you said was that PVP suffered, and the massive sunk cost that is the OWL was threatening to implode and sue blizzard for mismanagement.
So they caved and released OW2 PVP on a desperate hope it would bring revenue to the league and get the franchises who had spent tens of millions of dollars for a spot off their back.
But it didn't work, and releasing the 3+ years of development on PVE is any state is the exact smoking gun franchise owners and VCs are looking for to claim damages when the entire OWL collapes inevitably
@Cameron Ken yeah we should feel sympathy for the giant company that decided to change lootboxes for something even worst and their excuse was, "well, it was your fault guys, you like pvp too much so we want to focus on that first", episodic story bits is what fucking mobile games do
@@danielcruz4960 battle passes are 10x worse than loot box's especially since battle passes are in pretty much everything now
from what i've seen they where working on pve and the decision to scrap it was a decision made by execs and not by people working on the game
@@XgoodbyeX That is outright incorrect dude, RNG loot boxes are one of the worst aspects you can add to a video game, taking hundreds, if not thousands of pounds for someone to obtain what they wanted from them, and in some cases i.e Battlefront 2 launch, being an integral part of the game and making it pay to win. At least with a battle pass you can see exactly what you’re getting with no gambling aspect.
Watching a game you fell in love in 2016 just crumble and fall by an uncaring company is really heartbreaking.

@@user.Icarus The guy wasn't hurting for money. It's obvious that once he lost total creative control he jumped ship. Only thing keeping him there was his passion for making things he personally enjoyed.
Such a solid job explaining the situation. The only thing missed is at 6:00. When OW2 was announced, they stop releasing content for 1 while they worked on developing the sequel. Combine with the pandemic which set things back and OW1 went years without balance patches which hurt the game a ton.
You say that but that was a problem only for the people who only played ow1 after most people stopped after the first 2 years since it got boring and bigger games were getting released
@@XgoodbyeX Not exactly. It's a problem with the company if nobody is playing your game while working on a new one. If OW1 completely died, OW2 could've flopped harder.

Damn Blizzard really has no idea what they're doing nowadays
@Lucifer Morningstar 🅥 no
Well, the game now has way more micro-transactions than before, so they probably know that the wasted money will eventually "come back".
The question of whether it’s really been in “development” for five years, or if people behind the scenes were just screwing around should be raised here. I mean seeing the trailers/presentations for overwatch 2 it seems they were blowing money on stupid stuff nobody really cares about like new gunshot noises or PR hype with animatics that were better than the games could ever be
This is the second time they've done this. They rushed a a 2.0 version out to justify a change in monetization for HOTS, it didn't work, and a few years later the game went into maintenance mode. If they decided to stop developing the PvE for OW, they likely already decided to let the game die slowsly in the next 5 or so years.
@@Wolfram___ Overwatch is more important that HOTS though
I can only imagine what the Devs must have felt when they heard all their work over the past years have been for nothing.
There's a rumor going on that the latest april fool's gamemode was made mostly by repurposing hero abilities from pve. If that's true, it's truly heartbreaking to realize that you've been working hard on a project for the past 3 years only to end up as a literal joke because there's no other chance to make people at least experience it once
Allegedly they actually stopped working on PvE over 2 years ago and they already knew they'd never release PvE when they launched OW2. It's been abandoned for years, they were just lying to people to try and inflate player numbers.

I'm an amateur/aspiring Game developer and it's really disheartening to see companies treat fans like this. As well as the fact that they went to tell a team of people who had been working hard on something that the company knew people would like and tell them "yeah about that, that work you did is useless we aren't going to release it"
It helps if you don't sell franchise spots for your game for tens of millions
And then announce its pivoting to focus on PVE as the league you made is failing leaving you liable (or at least legally exposed) for the losses of the franchise participants forcing you to literally cancel major parts of your own game to cover your ass
Well most games are dishearting lol fortnite exists to fund unreal engine pretty much
same, it's almost comedic how years ago, some of us dreamed of working for blizzard, riot, EA etc and day by day these franchises destroy their image so badly you don't even want to work for them anymore, let alone for an entry or internship position
@@XgoodbyeX Fortnite is actually a well developed product though. Even Unreal manages to listen to fans. Was the best season they ever did, statistically. It's so easy to to well as a company, which is why there is zero sympathy when Triple A fucks it up.
as someone who has played overwatch for five years and watched this whole saga unfold, the announcement literally crushed me. i was just talking to my friend last week how happy i’d be when they dropped the PVE, whenever that was, and now it’s just gone. what the hell were they doing for three whole years, where they basically stopped developing things for OW1?

Beginning of the end? Dude, OW ended many years ago, when Activision-Blizzard higher-ups forced Jeff to make a sequel instead of an update/expansion.
According to the games lead Aaron Keller, they stopped most of the PvE work almost 2 years ago so they could rush out the PvP launch. Then before OW2 launched they decided they were scrapping the PvE. They launched the game, told everyone that it was for the best and that PvE would come later, when they had already decided we weren't getting it.

It’s crazy to think after years and years of development all that’s changed in this “sequel” is the equivalent of an update
Clearly, the whole premise of a sequel was a complete lie from the start. They never intended to actually make another game, they just had to make an annoucement to hype people. So they announced a fake game. This is comproved by the fact that OW1 was no longer playable after OW2 released. Because it's the same game, reskinned. Just an update.
From what I heard, they changed to a completely new engine and art style, causing them to have to basically rebuild the game from the ground-up. So yeah, we did basically get nothing, they spent all their funds and time on switching engines rather than making content.
@@palea1335The engine was upgraded but was not entirely new, Overwatch 2 reused the OW1 assets, the download for it was les GB if you had 1 still installed
Well they turned it into F2P Microtransaction model. Which is clearly what they wanted from the start. Just to get more money. I have to say OW1 lootboxes were not that bad compared to what it is now. Not to mention that new characters were unlocked the moment they were released... not locked behind a bloody battlepass.
What was the point of the engine rework. My understanding is that the engine was reworked to support pve but if that not happening then what was the point
Hearing Jeff's voice made me emotional. I met every single one of my closest internet friends in Overwatch, and Jeff was a big part of the community when I played. It was fun; annoying at times, yes, but fun! Pretty much everyone who played the game and was active in the community knew Jeff. Hearing his voice again made me think of older, better times for me. Too much has happened since then, and it hurts.
It’s the most fun game I’ve ever played. I’ve put more hours into it than any. To see it go down in flames like this is just so gut wrenching. The overwatch community must stand together in times like this

"Do we deliver what we promised even though it doesn't meet our expectations or do we just give players a giant middle finger?" - The classic big company dilemma
The higher-ups probably just realized the development time is not worth spending money on anymore, when the 20$ per pop skins in the shop are much more valuable to make.
"doesnt meet our expectations" is meaningless corpo speak meant to try and cover the fact that they're canceling something because it's expensive. the expectations in this case are, won't make a quick half billion dollars at launch
For everyone that hopped on the game for the promise of PVE, they basically dangled a carrot on a stick over them, hoping they'd eat up the microtransactions and overpriced skins, and only when they've milked them dry of patience and money, they get off and throw them off a cliff.
More like "Do we deliver what we promised like we cared about anyone? Or do we get even more money for the 7th vacation house in Monaco at the expense of our customers and employees?" dilemma that big companies execs seem to have oh so frequently these days when people are worried about silly things like "having rights" and "being happy" instead of worrying about the real problems like "filling our pockets (and only our pockets) with money"

It's not really overpromissing tho? OW2 barely have any changes on the dev side, most of the changes are model and graphic, which a company like Blizzard can finish in maybe a few months. They have shit tons of money and staffs to get it done, and based on the demos they've been showing, they got most of it working. Like I'm still pretty sure the game still fail top down starting with poor executive decision (probably worsen by the breastmilk controversy), but overpromising don't seem to be a key failure here
Almost 4 years …
I bet you anything they made so much content that blizzard just couldn't figure out how to monetize therefore threw into the bin
Not to mention that this "big hype" rush in 2019 was immediately followed by the Hong Kong backlash, the entire COVID pandemic, sexual harassment lawsuits, etc. It was probably the worst timed moment in video game history to announce a sequel.

I’ve been off this game for a while, but my friends kept telling me to get Overwatch 2, to be honest, I was excited to hear there was actually gonna be a sort of story mode coming out. However, I didn’t want to get the second game UNTIL the story stuff finally released because that’s what I was really interested in. The story and my own personal experience with my friends. From the cutscenes to trailers and lore teasers, it was cool to piece together, but you can’t really tell a story from a live service game, especially during a PvP match when you’re getting smashed or have to wait for the next ‘season’s’ story to buy the pass and miss last year’s story… unless you’re like other titles and keep archives for it in game. Now that PVE is officially DEAD, I have zero reasons to get Overwatch 2, now. Sometimes the adventure and story IS more important than your live service PvP, especially with how that tech tree was looking and the promise for what the enemies could do to keep you coming back over and over. But now it’s cancelled? Worst decision to be made for this game… besides the loot box ideas or price gouging for skins. Good job disappointing us, Blizzard… again.

Awh man. Hearing Jeff talk about Overwatch 2 at Blizzcon is so nostalgic. I truly miss him.
The fact that these gaming companies can keep lying, delivering half-baked over-priced messes, and implementing disgusting monetisation practices with impunity to consumers is beyond me. Watching people still pay for Blizzard games is like watching a friend in an abusive relationship just refuse to accept reality.
Blizzard, riot games, every battlepass shit skins that cost 100$ when the game isnt updated for months or any new content basically
@@hazedays3584the issue with that is, as terrible of a company Riot is, Riot delivers. As bad as their practices are, their marketing team and content go so fucking insane at making League and Valorant look good.
Blizzard just REFUSES to sink any money into any project for long-term goals. They saw they could literally do whatever to WoW for a decade and still rake in money and stagnated. The biggest takeaway from the GameSpot follow up interview was that internally they scrapped all PvE plans in order to launch the live service PvP but continued to market the PvE as their selling point despite pulling all resources from it.
They knew around release time already that they were scrapping it, yet were promising it to welcome new players to buy their battle passes meanwhile they wait. It’s so scummy and gross.
That's what I hate the most I was purely interested in the game still cause I had friends who would come back for pve. Without that it's just a dead game for a shit load of people including me now.
I have been playing this game since I was an actual kid and I cannot express how this made me feel. It's not even that they're canceling PvE it's the irreversible damage they did to this game. And how they don't really try to keep up or better themselves in the industry I think they just expect to always keep their loyal fanbase no matter how badly they hurt the game, which is ok coming from an indie game dev company, however it is completely not okay for a giant like them. I'm still trying to keep my hopes up since the bar is already touching the ground. I'd absolutely hate for this game to die completely. They have built such a wonderful world full of characters with incredible stories, (there are at least a dozen characters they created in 2016, that haven't even been implemented into the game yet but they know how they'd fit them into the story) and cinematography. Building all of that into an actual game with playable missions, and a progressing story would've probably been seen as one of the GOAT games. Unluckily we'll never know if it could've become one of the GOATs.
same man. i was 12 when i started playing and now i'm about to turn 19 and being someone who pretty much has played this game every day since i was a kid, seeing it crumble into dust is so saddening
That’s how they get you. Let it go already. If you don’t, they will never learn…
It definitely wouldn’t have become a GOAT game lmao. It fell off a while ago and a PVE game mode would never have saved it. Still sad either way.
" the irreversible damage they did to this game" you put it in words perfectly. They killed my game, there is no going back and it breaks my heart...
"Your worst sin is that you've destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing"
Remember that scene from The Boys in which Homelander was nervous? That one in which spent minutes looking at the phone, watching rating approval going down, while he didn’t know if he laughed or cry of anxiety? I think this is how every Overwatch player felt went through when they received the news.
An entire player community had to switch games since the original title’s server were shut down, abandoning a perfectly good game, to a sequel with more restrictive gameplay, more pay-to-win features, terrible support system and didn’t even the story mode was launched. OK, the release was terrible, but with the game being consistently being updated, that could’ve been fixed. And with promise of the PVE coming eventually, I thought I could bears a few problems. But these news essentially killed the game for me! The game is dead! They broke their promises! I am going to return my game to them and get my refund.
I love it when companies talk about "values" and "what you deserve" you can just tell they're just padding because they failed
Hah! You’ll never know how this comment got so many likes
Hell I don’t even know I just put the title of the video as a comment and for some reason people liked it
That sure is the title of the video!

Overwatch doing this is actually really good for me. There is another game called Battleborn that got kicked to the curb by 2K because it couldn’t keep up with OW. Now that OW is refusing to put in a PvE, a game like Battleborn that has the 5v5 mechanic that OW has AND has a Campaign and “Heroic Challenges” modes can potentially resurface and possibly do better than it did originally.
At this point I truly believe the only reason they updated the game to Overwatch 2 was to slap a battle pass on the game and shift from free earnable cosmetics to aggressive monetization. Definitely one of the video game sequels of all time.
Every sequel has been disaster by blizzard
yeah and it really sucks. overwatch isn’t like fortnite and similar games - it shouldn’t have a battle pass. it just doesn’t work. everyone did just fine with the loot boxes. blizzard is so money hungry that they limit heroes to the premium battle pass, which is exactly why i will never get the premium. people aren’t going to buy if they limit everything because we recognise how ridiculous it is.

You know its bad when theres a Mogul Mail on it. As a (now ex) Overwatch player this is really funny. Almost 4 years for them to say "uhh... yeah we got nothing sorry. Buy our $20 skins though!"
It’s incredibly impressive how Lud can stitch together all these threads, videos, articles, tweets, and never let the audience feel like they don’t know what’s going on or need more info. Just an amazing display of skill in presentation, speech, etc.
Bro gets his research done, and he does it FAST
It's definitely the journalism experience. I'm a jour major myself and you have to do basically what lud does in his videos to help fit together your articles. He stands apart in his impressive ability to vocally communicate it rather than just in writing, which I feel like many journalists struggle with. I might be a good writer, but everything I say outloud sounds like word vomit.
@@aria9330 im gonna be honest, ive never read an article as well written and clear as ludwig speaks
@Cherri Berri I've read a ton in my time studying it. The trick is the general public is usually either reading breaking news (which we are taught to keep as short and concise as possible, avoiding too much context) or literal trash (like buzzfeed, which is entertainment not journalism). The good stuff is more long-form journalism or non-breaking news contextual articles, which isn't pushed to be on the front page or in algorithms. I was shocked at how good some of the more contextual pieces were while studying them, which is way closer to what lud does.
The problem is journalism doesn't pull enough readership for the contextual pieces, and readers stop reading if the "breaking news" isn't within the first 2 paragraphs, so articles are written to be short and quick rather than fully interesting and contextual. Mr. Mail here gets away with it because he has a following already.
If you're curious about what all news journalists learn to base their writing off of, Google the inverted pyramid writing structure.
Props to the editors and the whole team also, Lud is a great leader apparently.
Like he mentioned at the end of the video, I wonder how much sway or decision-making power a person with a title like "executive producer" really does have. I feel like the pressure is probably mainly coming from higher-ups/investors at the company, and I also think that that's the reason the gaming industry has become worse over time. In fact, as soon as a word like "industry" was attached to video games in any way, people probably should've realized that profit maximization and hype were going to become the norm over the actual art form of video games. That is what I personally long for: video games created by people who care about the story, gameplay, and players as opposed to yearly pieces of trash shoveled down peoples' throats to keep the revenue numbers up.
Hey Mogul, can you make a video on the disaster going on with the Arizona Coyotes? It involves Tempe so maybe you’ve heard the situation.

I did only get ow1 months after ow2 was announced and years after my actual overwatch phase but I did hesitate because I thought ow2 would render that purchase obsolete (it didn't, I still have all my skins), so I can see how the early announcement of ow2 would be hurting ow1 even aside from the development power being shifted to ow2!
As someone who played TF2 ever since the MVM update all the way into 2022 when I decided to ultimately give up the game, this is arguably more heartbreaking than watching my favorite game descend into bots and ignorance from Valve. Yeah, it sucks what's happening with TF2, but at least we have that small, SMALL .1% sliver of hope that we can still get updates and content that we were promised. Overwatch fans just had that snuffed out for them completely. And I feel for that.
Just hope after CS2 comes out they are going to update TF2
The bots are a lot less worse than they were before tbf. Say what you will about valve but they are doing things in the back end of servers to make them more stable.
Bots trying to join and just getting instantly vac banned is a pretty common occurrence. Valve just doesn't mention anything so hackers and bot hosters don't get a leg up
We are not dying, we are going to live forever!
Bro TF2 players already got biggest betrayal by steam changing from "normal sized update" Into festival sized
It defo is kinda sad regarding Tf2 but it can say it had 10 years of great content it's just unfortunate in it's twilight years it was abandoned. Like an old man in the retirement home who ended up developing dementia it's sad but we can cherish what came before.
Overwatch just felt like it made every wrong decision possible and this is what it has been reduced to. The game feels like it's lost it's identity and it feels like a cashgrab. It's like a college superstar with a great future get into drugs and gambling and waste their life away and now you see them working at the supermarket.
Probebly a wierd analogy but that's the best way to describe the feeling of it.
As a player of Overwatch 1, to me it just looks like they killed a game I loved, stuffed its corpse with greedy microtransactions and a shitty battlepass, and are now going back on the thing they claimed everything was sacrificed for, the PVE.
fact. the thing that's left is so soulless
You know, I didn't even mind the battlepass. We complained about not having stuff to do in ow1, so the quests were a nice little addition, and the value was okay for the money spent. But 20$ for a normal legendary skin in the shop? what the fuck was that.. pure greed.
This is how it died, and it's just sad, man..
@@Goldy01 $10 is lot for someone from a country whose currency has a murderous exchange rate against the USD but I get what you mean. $20 was absolute insantiy. It was cheaper to get a certain item IRL than it was in-game.
Also, Blizzard decided to be uniquely shitty about their battlepass. Unlike other battlepasses, Blizzard's battlepass didn't give the OW Coins back after you completed it. So while you only had to buy the other battlepasses once, for Overwatch 2 you had to buy it every single time.
It's not just to You My friend that exactly what they did. fuck blizzard. quit all their games. they care that we play so not playing is the Best way to give them the finger back.
Competitive multiplayer games never hold my interest for very long, so I was pretty interested to see this co-op mode
also the fact they turned the 6vs6 into a mandatory 5vs5, removing the ability to play Overwatch 1. When I played I used to play I played the wrecking ball hamster. He's in the tank role but his playstyle relies on diving into the backline and running around getting big health packs so your healers can focus on your other tank while you alleviate pressure and set up kills. Now that its a game with only one tank it feels like I'm a detriment just trying to play the character I like.
I'm a little late but I think the thing that hurts SO MUCH is that Blizzard moved almost the entire development team off of OW1 and onto OW2 in order to get it out faster. We went years without updates, but it was all supposed to be for the greater good as the sequel was going to be this amazing fleshed out world. And now.... this. I'm numb.

He genuinely loved and cared for the game the same way he loved his team, he was one of the few genuine good people at blizzard, hence why he left.

As a huge overwatch fan the main problem for me is the stick the devs are getting when if you look deeper into it, so many decisions that have been made by upper management have completely and utterly screwed ow2 development. Fuck Activision and hopefully the microsoft takeover (if it even happens) can salvage the sinking ship :,)
So basicly they crated overwatch 2 for the pve and their are cancelling that pve, but removing the coins from the 1st overwatch in order to buy them with IRL money. Now that is what i call corruption of a clown company at its finest. Not even Riot Games has picked THAT much...
I get that designing fps games and creating unique and fun experiences for players isn’t easy, even for an organization with a larger reputation and size, and I get this. However, the thing that really upsets me is the high expectations they set for us, and the announcements being announced before even being near to finishing. This is why i think a project failing like pve makes the players feel even worse.
To be fair in this case I don't think it's difficult when the players themselves are telling you what they want the game to be.
It's hard to hit the mark as to what would people enjoy but when they are literally telling you in the most descriptive ways then you can't really use that excuse.
Sure sometimes shit doesn't work and you have to refactor for balance, competitive aspects, barrier to entry, etc... But those are things that you work on over time through feedback.
@@charlesm.2604 No, thats only for PVP. We just expect PVE wont suck since all PVE events in OW1 are sucks and kinda pessimistic. But they give a promising trailer which led us believe theyve changed

As a game dev, I have absolutely no idea what these fuckers we’re doing for half a decade. The whole “ohhh game development is so hard” is bullshit. It’s not THAT hard. It’s mildly difficult, but I could’ve whipped up this pve shit in a year with a dozen buddies and some blue moon. The fact that they scrapped almost everything they promised is just so.....Blizzard.
Think of the parallel that the players are seeing with this update..

Matchmaking stability is just one thing, the entire games stability went to shit with Tank engine 2, i remember we argued that going from 6 to 5 will help with Visual Clarity in fights.. Blizzard came in, hol up i think we could hook this up to our Michael bay Solar system, so ever since it doesn't matter it's 2 players less cause the visual effects make up for it so you can't see SHIT..
For example Sym Ultimate used to be a Big shield with a dull color effect that was annoying in addition to other effects.. In OW2 that bitch GLOWS a Wall going thru the entire map fucking GLOWS everything just GLOWS and booms and sparkles for no fucking reason.
I love how they made it sound like it takes this huge effort for them to develop a couple champions annually and maybe one map. What have they been doing this whole time?
Finding more ways to monetize Diablo 4 in the most predatory ways possible.
Trying to make people forget about the pervasive culture of sexual harassment
That does take a lot of effort tho
They've just been falling to balance their game since October. The fact that this is the product they are saying they are investing everything into is shameful.
I love how people who have no clue about how game development works always try to say stuff as if they know how game development works. Especially when clearly not having read up on anything and just basing on this one video. This is not the dev team's fault, this is on Blizzard's higher management who refused to hire more staff to match with the scope of PvE and instead forced the team into making it work with what they had.
The devs did say what they were doing, about 90% of the team was working on PvE content for the past 3 years. They worked hard on improving their engine so that it would be possible to make better PvE content. They didn't make more new heroes because they were working on the talent trees, as these were supposed to really change the heroes ability. Game development isn't something you can just scope out once and be roll on with, apart from games that just repeat the same things, doing something different like this will for sure have developing costs and unpredictable When the team realised they couldn't possible support PvP and PvE as live service, they asked to make a second team that would only do PvE.
They didn't get that.
I'm incredibly disappointed by these news, but jesus can yall spend 1 week without pretending you know stuff you clearly don't. Stop putting the blame on devs and pretend game dev is easy, if you want to make these kinds of comments, educate yourself about it.
They forced the playerbase to jump to a new game promising it would be finished later, just to not finish it.
I never liked Overwatch but it's bewildering that a company would treat such a popular game like this
We've been bamboozled. I'm sure even the devs have gotten bamboozled at some point in time.
I've been playing overwatch since 2016 (The year it released). I have not been excited for anything more than I have for the pve mode. The chance to play story missions like the ones they have released in the past would've been awesome. When Overwatch 2 was released I was quick to realize nothing really changed. Blizzard has disappointed the community time and time again and Hearing the news on how they are no longer gonna have a pve option makes me want to completely stop playing the game and is a terrible thing to hear.
Honestly do stop playing the game, I quit a while ago and now I’m DEFINITELY never coming back

@Lucifer Morningstar 🅥 thank you for this beautiful insight on this wonderful topic lucifer
They are still making PvE missions. If anything, they're going to be closer to the previous Archives missions than the original plan. What the developers have said is that they are cancelling features like the skill trees they promised that would have brought more replayability and differentiated these missions from Archives, and instead of releasing the PvE missions as one narrative all at once they're going to release missions across different Seasons. They're still making canon, narrative-based PvE missions, just not with all the features that they promised and probably over a very drawn out period of time so people lose interest waiting for the next crumb of lore.
