I’m not tryna play the I’m a mechanic card but them saying a water pump failure isn’t considered a critical failure is the biggest load a bs I’ve ever heard 😭😭, stand your ground and make them buy back that bike bro atleast that’s what I would do
I got my bike from “there” as well and zak has been awesome. I think a lot of these UA-camr videos have to be taken with a grain of salt due to the fact they are looking for views to make money.
Never had any issues out of my 2022 S1000RR. That being said I took my S1000RR to the Dealership last Wednesday for its 18k service. I’m still waiting for them to get done with it. Over a week and still waiting just to get the service done.
That's just crazy. I have to trailer my S1000 300km to the dealer and am there about 9:30am and am usually heading back home with the serviced bike back on my trailer by 2pm. (I live in Ireland)
@@Lar308 Yes for the normal service I’m usually down there only a couple hours. This is the service where they check the valves. But even with the oil change it only takes me like 10 minutes to do it. I change it every 3,000 miles so in between when they do it.
That dealership is low rent. I think they underestimated your knowledge of the law and thought they could take advantage of your young age. Really 42 days! That is ridiculously poor service. As a woman I've been treated that way by so many mechanic shops. And a water pump is a pretty important component needed to properly run a vehicle without causing further damage. Sounds like they don't want to spend the money to hire more mechanics so they choose to lower their customer satisfaction standards with ridiculous wait times.
My 23 s1k just hit 6k. I ride the piss out of it. Tuned full system 0 issues bike obliterates every bike I've had. Also use a bmw dealership, much better service.
2024 S1k with 9800 miles no issue stage 1 bren tune and full akra exhaust. My V2 panigale blew up at 4k. Ducati service wasnt bad bike was down for almost 2 months and replaced the engine. If theres a issue with my s1k my dealer said BMW is good at taking care of its customers. Sounds like its a dealer issue more than anything
I work in service at a BMW dealer and we’ve seen two S1000RR’s with Bren Tunes’ come through the shop in the past few weeks with thrown rod bearings. Since I’ve starting working there about 2 1/2 years ago I’ve seen probably about a dozen of them with the same issue. BMW designs those motors with not much room for adjustment of the fuel mapping. Stock power output is almost at the limit the motor can reasonably take and the BT just advances the ignition timing way too much to squeeze as much power out of it as possible. BT is a junk company and scam artists to me at this point.
@drewmoto732 news to me that's forsure. If I have an issue I'll definitely update this post. Living on florida I ride year round so this thing will have a TON of miles.
i see bad reviews about literally ever brand and model making it confusing for me to know which liter bike to buy. im a honda guy but was leaning toward the bmw but i see bad reviews about literally every bike making it impossible to know which to get
Just go and buy the S1000. I was the same when thinking of ordering my S1000 all through 2020 - online was full of rubbish bike don't get it - well I took a chance and best decision I ever made bikewise. Wonderful enjoyable bike and 10,000KM up on my 2021 bike now and not one problem.
As an owner of both Motorcycles Ducati and BMW I can say the same case for apply to the StreetFighter V4S and the SP both needed to spend time on the shop for a 25k and 36k motorcycles. While my S1000XR and M1000R have gave me no problem.
I was contemplating about buying S1000RR but after doing some research found that many had problems with their $25000 bike. So I opted to get a 2023 Kawasaki ZX-10R. My second ZX-10R. She has 14000 miles on her with no issues. Sorry to hear about your bad experience
S1Ks are AMAZING motorcycles, if you treat it with respect it will treat YOU with respect. Motomillion put a full tune, full exhaust, and mods on BEFORE the 600 mile break in period. To put things short that's an accident waiting to happen, after 2000 or so miles you can beat the shit out of it and have NO WORRES. I've owned mine since the beginning of 2023, spent over $30,000 with the bike and mods and I have had ZERO issues. The water pump is a well known issue in the new generations and BMW also covers it under warranty. Sorry you had a "bad" experience with the S1K but that does not mean every S1K has the same problems as yours. It's not BMW's fault their dealership doesn't store the S1K inside, that is a dealership problem because I know my dealership stores mine inside. Maintenance is expensive if you have the dealer do BASIC maintenance, if you can't change your own oil you shouldn't own a super sport. To end my rant, sorry your feelings got hurt, grow a pair of balls and go to a different dealership. This video was nothing but complaining about a bad experience you had with your dealership.
Yeah the guy on UA-cam “Blackhornets1” rides a S1K and he smokes every super car super bike out there… but I believe his is the last gen, the HP4 just looks good, but the S1K just isn’t up to par
I have a 2010 s1000rr bought new (the year it was released in N America). Mine now has 85,0000 km. I’ve travelled all over with it. My s1000rr has never given me a day’s problem. I even drove it from east coast to west coast and back.
Its so weird hearing about all these issues with your s1k because my experience has been the complete opposite. Ive owned 2 k67's. A brand new '22 that I put 5k miles on (I wrecked it) and my current '21 that has almost 28k miles. Literally had 0 issues with both except my '21 had the same coolant pump failure yours did only my bike had 24k miles when it went (fixed myself, its easy and took just a couple hours). Not only that but there's at least 5 other guys with s1ks that I know and ride with ALL of which also have no issues. One guy even had a full exhaust without a tune for multiple YEARS. I think you legitimately got unlucky which, to me, seems unfair to warrant telling your audience to avoid their possible dream bike just because of your experience.
Never had a single issue in 5 years of ownership of my 2019 s1000rr. It has almost 20k km already. Perhaps the new gen are not as reliable. Protip: Don't flash it, don't tune it, don't fuck with it, and it will be fine.
Anecdotal evidence. I have friends with issues on their Panigale and everyone I know with the s1000 are happy. People unnecessarily tune these bikes then complain it broke.
Right, "I got a lemon so therefore nobody ever buy one" is kinda crazy but the bmw do have more issues than the Japanese equivalent that's a given. Some ppl also remove the factory limiter during the 600 mile break in them complain when they blew their engine.
The biggest irony is you pointing out this is anecdotal advice and then proceeding to give even more anecdotal advice. Look up the stats for bike refunds/repairs. In Latvia 60%... 60%!!!! of the bikes issued by the BMW dealership are returned for repair due to critical errors! While yes, the ''evidence'' Matthew provides is anecdotal it's also factually correct. So you calling that out was just pure whataboutism. Also, neither Matthew nor anyone else has ever claimed that Italians get it right too. Aprilias and Ducatis are KNOWN to have major issues. However, the big difference is the service quality.
@@Naryokowitsch I would guess it's because you hear about it less due to service quality. Anecdotal, but my friend who rides a Monster, only recently told me that at the beginning of the season he had a critical fuel pump issue, but apparently they fixed it so fast that he did not even see it as a big enough thing to talk about it. I would bet my life savings, that if they did the usual BMW service routine and he was bikeless for ages, I'd wager the whole town would have heard about it. You are after all more prone to talking about negative things that upset you rather than positive things.
That's crazy. I have a 2023 s1k for over a year with almost 6,000 miles bren tuned and no issues. 0. This bike has been absolutely amazing. I believe that was Zach the master mechanic off 650ibs videos.
That hit so hard when you talked about the s1000rr being always broken. Had a 2020 and lost a entire riding season due to parts shortage and dealership being booked out
I've done warranty work with Aprilia and BMW. These bikes are built to such extremes (200mph rockets that makes 200+hp out of 1 liter, you're going to have a few bikes that have issues.). If it is a critical component that doesn't allow you to ride, the manufacturer will do whatever they can to get you the parts needed and the bike fixed. This bike had a MINOR coolant leak. My friends rode thousands of miles on the same issue. It's rare but a few bikes get it and the slight leak typically only happens at WOT pulls.. The BMW dealer offered to let him continue to ride it while they wait for parts or find a slot of time to fix the bike (shocker, dealers aren't waiting patiently for work, they are usually pretty backed up for a while.) However, this dude thinks he is above everyone else. He made the choice to let his bike sit at the dealer when they offered to let him ride it while they wait for parts / a good time to fix the bike. It's like he intentionally wanted to leave it there because he knew it would take a long time. Regardless, he isn't gonna get shit. This dealership is very well known for doing fantastic work. Just another entitled kid using 20% of his brain cells. Hate people who claim "Lawyer" mode as if it's some big scary thing.
thats like saying you go to mcdonalds in your area and have good experiences. doesnt mean every mcdonalds has good people or machines. it dont mean dealerships and districts all run and operate the same. Ive had two honda dealerships completely fuck over my 2018 CBR1000RR that had 2k miles. It had started with a temp issue, first dealership was like its normal we swapped this n that. okay rode it home next week it was leaking coolant from whatever work they did to it. took it back they said it wasnt there fault yada yada. left there and went to another dealership and they didnt even question it and said theyve had people choose their dealership over the other due to mechanic work and warranties not being fulfilled.
@@taylorv4 What exactly is entitled about wanting your bike to be in top form after paying $25k? If the issue was as minor as you claim, then it wouldn't have been fixed for free. You don't get to pick and choose what things covered under warranty are "acceptable". Also, if the bike was in the shop for 40+ days over a "minor" issue, that says more about the dealership's professionalism than it does about the kid.
Your experience is valid and I think it's fair that you are choosing to not buy another one. However tons of people have K67 S1000RRs and don't have issues. It sounds like you got a lemon which happens. I have a 2023 RR with BT Stage 2, sprint filter, full exhaust and it's been near perfect. I did have one issue with the quick shifter changing from 5-6 at full throttle but that was because my clutch lever was too loose from the dealer. As far the S1000 water pumps, I've seen a failure on the old gen model too. I replaced one for a friend that was leaking a small amount with less than 10k on his 2018 S1000R. I have a 2016 S1000XR which uses the same part with 34K with the same pump. Some of them fail others don't. My quick shifter sensor on my XR has seized so I ordered another one too. They're not perfect but overall they're great bikes IMO. People venerate Japanese bikes all the time but ignore when shit breaks, dealer markups, shitty brakes, etc. My friend bought a brand new ZX6R and it had a check engine light on the way home. He took it to the dealer he bought it from and it turned out to be the exhaust valve and they didn't fix it. He said it rode fine so we ended up pulling the cables off of the flap. Also have you ever sat on a ZX10? They are way more cramped compared to any S1K or V4 and the ZX10 weighs a good amount more than an S1K. Many of them still have rubber brake hoses too. I don't say this saying that they are bad bikes but they overhyped in my opinion.
@@2wheelcrew556 Yeah it’s kinda unreasonable when you think about it. The only bike I’ve done an engine rebuild on was a Suzuki GSXR. I would never say that GSXRs spin rod bearings and are unreliable.
Gotta say when I worked at some of the bike shops (I worked around Triumph and Ducati the longest, but at a different dealership selling Aprilia, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda) the Japanese stuff does break... and it can be quite wild when it does. People like to say certain brands are perfect when they aren't.
@@Jake23115 yeah, at the end of the day all brands have failures. Some more than others for sure. It just depends what one’s appetite is for failures. I had an electronic suspension error on my brand new Superduke literally before my bike was home from the dealer. I didn’t care because the I loved the thing to death. Took it the dealer, they messed with the computer and it’s been mostly fine. Shit happens. I deal with shit on a bike that I love rather than on a bike I hate.
@BeginnerMoto Exactly..... however I have to say it would be pretty hard to hate or be unhappy with a SuperDuke with all the torque and the sheer amount of wheelies you can do. I think people try to find faults with anything and everything, and after working at the bike shops.... I've seen it up close and personal.
2021 bmw s1000rr owned since new 18,000 miles 3 sets of tires Brake pads Chain Akro exhaust Bren tune stage one . 213 mph 0 issues whatsoever .........
not sure if you already have a video like this, but honestly i think it would be cool if you made a video ranking or discussing some of your favorite liter bikes. i think it would be helpful for people considering upgrading their current bikes! thanks for sharing your thoughts/experience on the s1k, always super informative
I picked up my 21 S1KRR from sills and honestly had nothing but good experiences with warranty work/fixing my stage 2 BT moto issues and dealing with Zach personally, but I do agree that he is backlogged with a lot of work and definitely the dealership needs to move into the 21st century with tech/updating the building and hiring more BMW mechanics. Now I did trade in the S1KRR early this year for a CBR1000RR (I do agree that the BMWs have their issues though hence why it’s gone) as I wanted something cheap/more reliable and basically just a commuter with spirited rides here and there.. I mean it’s NE OH so good luck finding local twisties 🤷♂️🤣 I’ll be seeing you at the next Ducati Cleveland bike night 👍
you can a heated grips for the s1000rr for like 800 and even then you can buy heated gloves to 200 to 300 so there really no point in wasting 6000-7000 for something that you can install yourself for half the price
Bought a new s1000r in june, had it in for a warranty issue. But got a m1000r as a loner. It also had a misfire the day before i was going to a trackday, and they made time to check it out the same day, in late june. This is in Norway so it might be diffenrent, but I had a pretty good experience with BMW. Trading the single r for the double r for next season.
I totally disagree with you regarding the S1K. I have one and I've never had an issue with it. That's the same dealership that 650IB and he swears by is.... Just a little advice. When pumping gas, you should always dismount your bike.
@ 13:14 , I'm listening to you but my opinion of the BMW moto, is different. I have a '23 XR, and trust me, I "go hard" every time I ride the thing. It's a fast, fun, comfortable sport bike. I ride it almost EVERY day, while my ZX-10 RR sits on the trickle charger, collecting & housing garage spiders. It's a nice bike too, but imo, the XR does everything the X-10 does, but better. Except of course, str8-line TOP SPEED. Good luck buddy! -🍀🍀
The audacity of the dealer to say that it wasn't a "critical issue".... are you kidding me!? First of all.... it's a brand NEW bike..... it shouldn't be leaking anything from anywhere PERIOD! But okay, let's play along.... when WOULD it have been a "critical issue"!? After it leaked enough coolant to get on your rear tire causing you to crash!? When it leaked enough for the engine to overheat and seize!? Jesus christ....i can't lie, I've been on the fence between the new S1000RR and the new RSV 1100 Factory. I have a k46 S1KRR that I've had since 2018 with zero issues and i absolutely love. Part of why i was liking the new BMW, but this video right here, along with others that I've seen had made my mind up for me.... stay safe man, hopefully no more k67 gremlins rear their ugly head for you
Definitely a dealer issue. I've had similar dealership bs when I looped my 2022 mt07 last year. Took it to the only dealership within 2 hours of my campus, and while it was being fixed over the course of 2 months and a week, the mechanics stripped a bolt holding the gas tank to the frame (which btw the tank sustained 0 impact during the loop, only the bars and footpegs did). 4 months after this I did a tail tidy, and while taking the tail section apart I see a brand new tail fairing that had one of the threaded parts broken off and glued back on, as well as 2 stripped u clips. So basically this dealer totaled my bike and charged me $130 an hour for the worst work I've ever seen.
The ZX-10R comment may have been me I brought it up a few times in your videos' comments. It really is such a better deal especially when you add in the OEM engine mod support and the fact BMW charges so much and you still only get in house brakes.
You are not comparing apples to apples. Look at the MSRP of both bikes WITHOUT the electronic suspension, the BMW is $200 more. The ZX does not have BMW's mid range either. The BMW is way more popular so naturally it will have more people having issues, but there are many without a single problem.
@@Cobradaddy The ZX only lacks mid-range without a flash. It's the common 5K~ dead zone a lot of bikes have now to cheat Euro emissions and noise tests. Also the ZX while not being Ohlins it has extremely beefy suspension with external nitrogen chambers which I can't think of another liter bike possessing. Also for 2024 the S1K went up in price. The ZX-10R is only $17,799 or $18,799 for ABS and comes with Cruise Control as well as a full titanium exhaust system including headers with heated grips being a $450 option. Base S1KRR is $18,990 and comes standard with ABS however does not have Cruise control or heated grips which is an extra $2,690 in the Premium package and cannot be added separately if you want the Titanium exhaust that's another $1,700 on top of the Premium package. So to get an S1K comparable to the ZX-10R it's actually $23,380 and while it does get electronic damping it's for an arguably lower quality suspension.
base model is $18,500 for BMW s1000rr black, if u get the carbon package that's $2,300, the premium package is $2,700, total is $23,500 if he got those packages. idk if he did but i get telling people this is why I don't like that bike. Its a shit bike, that its not worth the money, shit company. Just makes you looks stupid shitting on a bike due your bad experience in my own opinion. FastlaneD had the same issue and it was under warranty and he never even bitch about it. I'm not even a die hard BMW guy is like the bike.
1year with 2023 s1k, 6k kms,no problem,no regrets. Had a steering sensor issue, got it replaced within days ,under warranty. This tuber is just unlucky.
The difference between those 2 dealerships was unbelievable!! I’m surprised BMW allows back street garages as their dealerships !! Also if they’d said about not being critical and shouldn’t have brought it in I’d have lost my cool and given them a piece of my mind !!
Yup I had the same experienced with my 17 s1000rr and 18 s1000r. Both had waterpump leaked and got fixed under warranty. Within a month waterpump leaked again and eurocycle of las vegas refused to fix it. Bmw has 3yr warranty and they do not honor that 😡🤬🤯. So right now I have a 2024 zx-10r have 4k miles now and its running perfectly. Knock on wood. Zx10r is the best bikes I ever had out of 12 bikes since Ive been riding. Very happy with a reliable japanese bike 🤠
I’ve had my 21’ since new. Full akra titanium headers with an SC can, smog block offs, AIS Delete etc..No issues besides when I was racing, after I was done I was riding it back and almost every stoplight it would bog down in rpm’s and shut off… but that was 3 years ago and it hasn’t done it since. Super weird. Almost have 10k miles on it now!
Same dealership that 650ib goes too. When I seen Zack I was like no way 😮two different experiences. I work at a dealership in service and sometimes shit just doesn’t go as plan. Then waiting on parts and getting it back in the techs schedule can be a week or 2. I’d stick to big dealerships rather than mom and pop shops. Zack is a hella good technician thougg
He dropped his bike off over 30 days before the scheduled service date. Dealerships have 30 days to fix the problem from scheduled service date .. service was booked up hence why he was scheduled at the next open availability. Still he dropped it off early. Bike went to the bench on the day of the scheduled service and fixed.
Matt you made a EXCELLENT point about the S1K being a glorified ZX10, but you forget about all the internet clout bois that want a BMW and completely over look the better options in the R1,ZX10,V4, and even the GSXR1k. There are better options for a lot less. I bought my R1 two weeks ago and love it so far (it’s my first bike) and yes I can handle it. I test rode a V4 and S1K alongside it and the only reason I didn’t buy the V4 was because the Texas heat + Ducati would kill me. Don’t buy a German bike. Buy Italian or Japanese.
Thanks for the warning. I bought a '23 Gixxer 750 in the spring of '23. 19500 kms so far and no problems. Next bike will be Gixxer 1K or a Honda RRR, not BMW.
I told one of my buddies to avoid it and go with the R1 he was also considering at the time. Within the first month of owning his S1K his coil pack went out. He took the bike to a dealer to get the warranty work done. When they did the work and went to start the bike to test it, engine blew. He waited like 2 months for a new engine to come in. Then, whenever he finally got the bike back, the dash was randomly going out on him. He ended up selling it and getting an R1.
I’ve stuck to Kawasaki and Yamaha the last 12 years since I’ve been riding; no issues so far. 🎉 Though I ride with folks who love their Ducatis and BMWs. I think it’s just a gamble sometimes like with cars, your gonna have some with issues and some people that never see problems. Sorry you’re going through this.
Yeah I had problems with the 2022 , overheating from the 1st month engine control issues..but upgraded to the 2023 -24 S1000RR , not a problem.. been running far better, gravelly , box of nails sound of the 2022 eliminated, engine vibration is less but still noticeable.. Not as smooth as Honda Fireblade, but is more ridable than the Honda.
Got the M package for 17k a few years ago and it had most of the mods already so it's be an over all good experience. I've had coils go out, but just replaced them myself so it's has minimal downtime
Part of the reason I wait for mark2 or 3 of a model. Hence I’ve just bought the Ducati SFV4s in grey Nero. seems stable enough now. Really impressed by friends Ducs. Audi did them well
putting bikes outside during the workday to clear up shop space is a pretty common practice. You would close down 95% of the shops in America is you consider this a real problem.
Also her saying the water pump is a "non critical issue" is insane. If that BMW gets hardly any hotter is when you run into overheating and ENGINE DAMAGE.
All dealerships or mechanics store bikes outside during the day. I have a $50k harley, and I always take it to the harley dealership. At night, they store the bikes inside, and during the day, they store them outside. They have to be able to work inside of the shop without tripping over bikes.
Tell them to get a S1000RR best bike on the market. Love mine, zero problems. Any bike can have problems most of the BMWs are great. Feel bad he had a bad experience.
I bought 2 2023 gsxr1k. Best bike to ride around and has very a lot of power. I own a Dyno and tuned them myself. That’s the only new bike I have bought. I’d rather go buy a 15 year old bike and rebuild the motor myself so I know it’s done right and spend less money.
Did the heated grips on my 23 ZX10R. I do miss hill assist on it, but that is it. I still have the 23 S1000XR and love it, but the Bring More Wallet aftermarket parts tax is real. Zero problems with mine outside of not having a Shift Cam motor.
When a dealer wants to talk behind the front desk they simply do not want to chance some other customer hearing the conversation, would stop other sales
Im on my 2nd S1000RR. My 2015 i put 21,000 miles on it. MY 2023 has 6500 miles on it. Both bikes are Bren tuned. I havent had a single issue with either of my bikes. On the other hand I owned a 2018 Panigale V4. That bike was constantly in the shop! And I disagree you can get the same exact bike for cheaper that does the same exact thing. The S1K is the best bike on the market and no other bike comes close when it comes to low end and high power, comfort, creature comforts and electronics.
Bought a aprila rsv4 from state 8 new a few months ago and have 1500 miles on the bike andddd she already died on me….. it wasnt actually on aprila it was the brand of tuner i bought its a upmap with a gabro tune apparently for the past few months they’ve been getting rsv4s in with issues with the upmaps causing your ECU to wig out and eventually it may fry it luckily mine just was wigging out and i took it in to get looked at so its fine for now but i have to go and get probably a actual dyno tune at MPH and hope aprila will reinstate my warranty
Heh. Perks of owning a Gen 3 Hayabusa with a tried and tested engine revised for 25 years now. No issues, like, ever and the heat management compared to 1000s is awesome
I am going through the water pump issue as well, and the PNW rep for bmw will not fix it even though it's under warranty. It is leaking so much coolant that I am afraid of it getting on the back tire, which could cause me to crash. Maybe a lawsuit might make them fix it.
I’m sure a Ducati would be more reliable than a bmw but 1200 bucks every 7500mi is way too much, I was looking at a used monster and asked about maintenance cost and that was a huge turn off for me buying anything from them tbh.
Unfortunate experience. I purchased a brand new RSV4 1100 and the rad leaked on me at 3,200 km, which is 2,000 miles. Aprilia is worse because parts take forever and their dealer network is not vast at all. I traded it in for a KTM and im much happier.
Sorry you're having issues with your S1K! I have a 2024, full Akra, Bren Stage 1, Pirelli SC3's. I beat the ever living shit out of it every single day in the North GA mountains and monthly at track weekends...zero issues. I also own a 2023 S1000R, zero issues. The only issue I have with my 2020 Ducati V4R is it's appetite for dry clutches.😁
i knew about it , so bought the v4 s ,,, my brother had a wonderful time of his life around that bike honestly that bike deserve to be more good but problems keep coming around that bike ! DO NOT MAKE A DECISION THAT U WILL REGRET LATER ! HAVE GD DAY!
That place does not even look like an official dealer - is it? In Ireland the motorrad dealers are always part of a big BMW / Mini car dealership so it's all posh with huge glass windows everywhere and some eye watering new BMW and Mini cars in he showrooms. But even so the price they charge for a S1000 service is quite reasonable €300 - €400 - not too bad.
Yeah the new 23 and up s1000rr tend to blown out water pump and the part take for ever to come in since all their part in Germany,. There was another UA-camr n3on he got tired of his bmw and got rid of it.
I wish the MT-10 (SP) didn't have such a fugly front end. And I especially hate when bikes have two headlights but only one works when you're not using your high beams. 🤬
my s1000rr has been in a bmw shop for OVER 3 WEEKS for a fuel issue that they still haven't been able to fix and they think their "service" is worth $209 an hour. Idk why but they cant just spend a whole day to fix it if that's what it needs. They work on it for an hour and then text me "we looked at it" and we will work on it again in week maybe like wtf. Why does it seem like BMW dealers have 5+ sales people and 1 mechanic
Well, not trying to defend it, but seams pretty reasonable having more people on sales than mechanics, since there's more difficult to do one sale than one service (most are done in 1h or so). My experience is the same guy in sales, was also the chief mechanic and an amateur rider 🤣
that sucks, I have been told from so many people that the s1000rr was a phenomenal bike and I was wanting to pick one up this spring. I was deciding between that and the zx10r. thanks for making my decision easy
You’ve been told by so many people they are good bikes and 1 random guy says to buy a zx10 and you’re willing to disregard everything and just follow his advice. Nice! 🥴
You mention a problem with your quick shifter, when you first bought it I remember you put aftermarket rearsets on. Did you ever put these back to stock and still have issues with the quick shifter, I only ask because I too have a quick shifter problem, but believe it to be caused by my tune. Care to give insight into what your quick shifter issue is exactly?
Hmmm, so far where I’m at. I don’t hear that many problems with the new s1000rr. There is a dude who has a 2023 s1000rr with like 7000 hard riding miles both track and canyon. Wonder if it’s location and environment problem or something
Anyone who buys a new product with their hard earned money, whether it costs a dollar or $30,000, deserves to get that product in excellent condition. Dealerships should stop normalizing belittling customers for bringing up factory defects in their products and should stop getting upset when customers point out these defects.

I thought 650ib goes there and seems to be treated like a king. He also has a lot of bikes so not sure. I’m in the market for s1000 so I found this video. Now I’m thinking fireblade. I’ve only ever owned Honda and always been happy
I’m not tryna play the I’m a mechanic card but them saying a water pump failure isn’t considered a critical failure is the biggest load a bs I’ve ever heard 😭😭, stand your ground and make them buy back that bike bro atleast that’s what I would do
Yeah how fast would they have voided the warranty if something else happened and they saw that you ignored that.
The waterpump seal failed. Not the waterpump lmao. Common issue on S1000RR platform
I didn’t hear him say anything the convo was edited out for some reason
That "dealership" looks sketch as hell too. I'd have never left even my Grom there to get anything done.
isn't this the mechanic that 650ib works with, Zak? looks exactly like the parking lot and garage door/shop

That dealership trippin. They just mad that BMW Corporate is probably annoyed with them and dont want to refund this.
That dealership needs to be reported, if they give you sketchy comments like that means they're trying to dupe other people too.
I've had the same experience with BMW dealerships ... Never get a good vibe visiting or dropping off a. bike for service.
Never had any issues out of my 2022 S1000RR. That being said I took my S1000RR to the Dealership last Wednesday for its 18k service. I’m still waiting for them to get done with it. Over a week and still waiting just to get the service done.
At first, I read this as $18k service, not 18k miles 😂
That's just crazy. I have to trailer my S1000 300km to the dealer and am there about 9:30am and am usually heading back home with the serviced bike back on my trailer by 2pm. (I live in Ireland)
@@KahliberZero 🤣🤣🤣 definitely not $18k. It was quoted close to $2200.

I have a 2024 BMW s1000r that I bought 7 months ago and have put down 7,500 miles so far. Zero issues. Love the bike.

Did you put an aftermarket exhaust on it?
@@juriskokins421 I've heard that about Aprilia and Ducati for years now. But i never ever met someone who actually had a major issue.
That's 650ib's mechanic lol
The BMW dealer offered to let him continue to ride it while they wait for parts or find a slot of time to fix the bike (shocker, dealers aren't waiting patiently for work, they are usually pretty backed up for a while.)
However, this dude thinks he is above everyone else.
Facts
thats like saying you go to mcdonalds in your area and have good experiences. doesnt mean every mcdonalds has good people or machines. it dont mean dealerships and districts all run and operate the same.
@@DEDSEC722 Yeah no. The dealership he went to is solid. This kid is just entitled.
@@sblover12 You either didn't read what I wrote or didn't comprehend a single thing.
Makes me laugh that people change their minds about buying a bike or using a dealership on one persons bad experience.

I really appreciate your review and respect your point of view. I also agree that the Dealer should not have handled your situation the way they did.
You get the odd bad egg in all the manufacturers. I've had my gen 1 for 14 years with 40k on it not a single problem with it.
I mean it’s NE OH so good luck finding local twisties 🤷♂️🤣
I’ll be seeing you at the next Ducati Cleveland bike night 👍
you can a heated grips for the s1000rr for like 800 and even then you can buy heated gloves to 200 to 300 so there really no point in wasting 6000-7000 for something that you can install yourself for half the price
When the S1000 is less reliable than a *Ducati* then you should just avoid it tbh.
That dont even look like a dealership. As a car dealership mechanic that place looks sketchy as hell
Part of why i was liking the new BMW, but this video right here, along with others that I've seen had made my mind up for me.... stay safe man, hopefully no more k67 gremlins rear their ugly head for you
Same BMW experience here. Always on the shop, unreliable as hell. When it worked, it was really fun, the problem is that it didn't work so often.

@@Skr-gb4hk Hi Zack the master mechanic! 💪🏼
I have a gixxer 600 2011 and the only issue after 55,000 km is the cam shaft sensor failed...fixed it by myself for 90 euro
Lol. Buys his first bike and already giving advice like a self claimed pro. 😂😂😂
I've had coils go out, but just replaced them myself so it's has minimal downtime

putting bikes outside during the workday to clear up shop space is a pretty common practice.

I owned one for 3 years rode it hard only issues I had was with the navigation. I do agree tho that the dealership experience with BMW Motorad sucks

Ive been lucky bought a used 14 s1k 5yrs ago,no problems, try an older one there very fast after mods
I remember when I took my first bike into the dealer for the 600 mile check-in and they held it for 3 weeks... Never went back there again.
I am going through the water pump issue as well, and the PNW rep for bmw will not fix it even though it's under warranty. It is leaking so much coolant that I am afraid of it getting on the back tire, which could cause me to crash. Maybe a lawsuit might make them fix it.
Dude, what are you waiting for, Sue tf out of them!!
I’m sure a Ducati would be more reliable than a bmw but 1200 bucks every 7500mi is way too much, I was looking at a used monster and asked about maintenance cost and that was a huge turn off for me buying anything from them tbh.
i have a m pack s1000rr 2023 and luckily i have had no problems im trying to keep it that way
That’s complete BS customer service! I’d be pissed off too if I was treated that way .
Unfortunate experience. I purchased a brand new RSV4 1100 and the rad leaked on me at 3,200 km, which is 2,000 miles. Aprilia is worse because parts take forever and their dealer network is not vast at all. I traded it in for a KTM and im much happier.
SD 1290? That is one of my options for the future... but people say they eat tyres for breakfast and quite unreliable...
Lmaooo your water pump blew…sounds like classic bmw sorry to hear that gang but ur back n better
This is why I stick to Kawasaki and Yamaha and on occasion, a Triumph. I mean I'd like a Ducati, but I dont like it's cost.
i knew about it , so bought the v4 s ,,, my brother had a wonderful time of his life around that bike honestly that bike deserve to be more good but problems keep coming around that bike !
LoL in my state diesel nossels are required to be in green, that totally tripped me out
Yeah the new 23 and up s1000rr tend to blown out water pump and the part take for ever to come in since all their part in Germany,. There was another UA-camr n3on he got tired of his bmw and got rid of it.
I wish the MT-10 (SP) didn't have such a fugly front end. And I especially hate when bikes have two headlights but only one works when you're not using your high beams. 🤬
i cant decide if i should buy an s1000rr, r1m or v4s, i sold my 959 2017...
Wich bike you'd go for... Aprilia Rsv4 factory, Supervelocce, cbr rrr 1000 fireblade or s-1000?
If u want a better dealer network and better reliability, Fireblade
“The water pump blew” completely sent me 😭😭😭 bc ofc it did
my s1000rr has been in a bmw shop for OVER 3 WEEKS for a fuel issue that they still haven't been able to fix and they think their "service" is worth $209 an hour.
Honestly, if you go for any bike besides japonese, you are going for status. Go japonese! Faster and cheaper.
Earliest I been keep it up matt I got into bikes bc of you and gl on whatever you do in the future
that sucks, I have been told from so many people that the s1000rr was a phenomenal bike and I was wanting to pick one up this spring.
BMW Dealerships are the worst!!!
I wont go back to the one here in Colorado Springs!
Hmmm, so far where I’m at. I don’t hear that many problems with the new s1000rr. There is a dude who has a 2023 s1000rr with like 7000 hard riding miles both track and canyon. Wonder if it’s location and environment problem or something
I have the same bike, water pump leaked, I waited 30 days for them to change it on warranty.
What does your experience have to do with S1000's or BMW ? It sounds like a issue with the dealership, no?
I’ve got a 22k S1k and haven’t had one drama but I don’t know what backyard dealer that was lol!
Anyone who buys a new product with their hard earned money, whether it costs a dollar or $30,000, deserves to get that product in excellent condition. Dealerships should stop normalizing belittling customers for bringing up factory defects in their products and should stop getting upset when customers point out these defects.
30k for a bike ridiculous 35k after finance. I just got a deal on my s1000 17000 with upgraded wheels new. 🙏🏾a lot better than my Ducati 959 less heat also. 🥵
But why don’t you get your S1K fixed at Ducati?
JAPANESE! May not feel like a BMW to ride but I refuse to pay that kind of money to have a bike down half the time.
I thought 650ib goes there and seems to be treated like a king. He also has a lot of bikes so not sure. I’m in the market for s1000 so I found this video. Now I’m thinking fireblade. I’ve only ever owned Honda and always been happy
Hit them with the economies of scale convo. Havent heard that since my junior year of HS. Damn. Im old lol.
