The Magnificent Seven
The Magnificent Seven (1960) is an American Western reimagining of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai (1954). Seven skilled gunmen, each with their own compelling story, are recruited to protect a Mexican village from marauding bandits.
The driving rhythms of Bernstein’s iconic syncopated theme provide enormous energy, and the soaring strings and brass fanfares illustrate the gunslingers’ bravado. As the seven gunslingers honour their agreement to defend the townspeople, they become more than just mercenaries - noble virtues of courage, sacrifice, and camaraderie come to the fore.
Musical Director: Joshua McNulty
Joshua McNulty is a conductor, school band director, and composer. He graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2015 where he studied composition and conducting with Dr John Lynch and Dr Anthony Clarke.
Joshua has worked with many ensembles including: the Macquarie University Symphony Orchestra; the Canaria Scoring Orchestra; the Wellington Players; the Inner West Community Band, and Strathfield Symphony Orchestra.
Joshua has a keen interest in music written for the screen and stage. His most recent project, the FilmHarmonia Orchestra, is born out of a desire to see film and game music celebrated artistically. To date, FilmHarmonia has played five sell-out shows.
As an educator, Joshua directs numerous school bands across Sydney as well as tutoring many students on their instruments.
saw the movie in the cinema in 1960, the theme gave me chills! Still does, because it stands for something dead in modern society now: HONOR, LOYALTY, and RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Not a bad rendition by this mob of Aussie musicians. I don't much care for the re-orchestration / arrangement, however.
