Not just the music but the entirety of the film itself and the incredible performances and the perfect pacing and the editing, not to even highlight the absolutely INCREDIBLE acting by one and all!!!
Funny thing about Ennio Morricone’s music ... appreciation of the work ages like a good wine. He did music for Mission to Mars (2000), which is the film’s redeeming quality given a mediocre script and original director walking out.
The movie and score was a masterpiece tribute to the old west. And golden boy Henry Fonda as one of the movie screens most despicable villains. “You brought two to many” amazingly gifted orchestra to replicate these scores with such accuracy
I will have to find the Henry Fonda interview, where he discussed his casting in this film. Director wanted the villain to have piercing blue eyes (Fonda trademark). It was one of the few roles where he got to play a true villain - of course his son Peter was filming “Easy Rider” in this same time period.
This orchestra is not afraid to use alternate or lesser know instruments in order to achieve the sound they deem necessary. All of their conductors are phenomenal, but this young lady here is fearless when it comes to alternate sounds. The chorus is superb, the instrumentalists are just off the charts great, and Tuva is. . . .Tuva. How can one even describe her; I have no idea why she is not better recognized, considering what she does and how she does it. Actually, that goes for the entire group; they’re all superb. I just love this orchestra and am in absolute awe of each and everyone of them. Humongous thumbs up!
It's the original instumentation which the italian composer (Ennio Morricone, 1928-2020) wrote it for. In the early 60's, he was the first one who started to use "weird" instruments and mouth-made sounds with the film-orchestra. Others later copied that idea from him!
@@mozambique9113 The UA-cam Channel has it listed as the “Danish National Symphony Orchestra.” Are you sure it’s just a band? They certainly sound and look like a symphony and not just a band.
The music behind the BEST American Western movie ever made. The music reverberates, elevates, and immortalizes each key scene and the characters in it against a savage West where greed, revenge, violence, and quick death are the norm. The combination was unprecedented, and after nearly 60 years, the vision is still unsurpassed.
This not really an entirely american western movie, though. Lots of Italian talent, aka foreign, style much different from John Wayne and Hollywood. Wikipedia says that it has lots of references to american westerns :-) But certainly one of the BEST movies and BEST music indeed!
It was an Italian production, influenced and inspired by the all-pervasive American culture. The movie in turn influenced and inspired American filmmakers to come up with great and memorable movies like The Wild Bunch, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and The Unforgiven where the good, the bad, and the ugly all had stories worthy of telling and knowing.
It transcends genres, which I think many great works of art do. To my mind, it's a Wagnerian opera, complete with leitmotifs for each of the principal characters. And casting Henry Fonda as the BAD guy? GENIUS.
Actually, although the frontier could be brutal the excessive violence is a figment of the truth. Dime novels created the notion that the west was lawless which was propagated by western films. Most settlers were relatively religious folk who sought new beginnings and opportunities in life. The violence occurred but was rare.
lol Her name is Tuva Semmingsen, not "Wa wa woman" ;D You should listen to their "Kill Bill: Bang Bang My Baby Shot me Down", she sings in that one as well. :)
For some reason...when a great orchestra plays iconic tunes it seems to highlight just how brilliant & original the music is. It's amazing how much this piece meanders along - you can feel an epic story unfold, musically.
@@Dabhach1 Those movies are so beautifully shot it's hard to believe how old they are, coupled with Morricone's music they became truly iconic, really a work of two geniuses combined, it's a shame Leone passed away as he was leaving the western behind to explore new themes, who knows what other masterpiece he could've made
Was born in 1973 but after seeing the movie, was really amazed by the genius of this music, which incorporated a hopeless scene harmonica to an unforgettable classic. listening 2024

The ragged harmonica note just here and there and the dominating bass guitar, and then full orchestra. I think this song could seduce me. A lot.
Tuva is half human half goddess.
Its a national band
@@mozambique9113 The UA-cam Channel has it listed as the “Danish National Symphony Orchestra.” Are you sure it’s just a band? They certainly sound and look like a symphony and not just a band.
"Like" button is not enough for me to express how much I love this Danish presentation.
It is well said. Accurate. Good day.
I had this melody in head about 37-37 years and now i got it!
The best orchestra in the entire world hands down
RIP Ennio Morricone and Sergio Leone and thank you!
I’m so happy for the wa wa woman finally getting a chance to show off her AMAZING voice
lol Her name is Tuva Semmingsen, not "Wa wa woman" ;D
You should listen to their "Kill Bill: Bang Bang My Baby Shot me Down", she sings in that one as well. :)
Soprano Tuva was good ....but octave lower than the original who was better.
She worked for Lars Von Trier on the Antichrist intro
Non e' lei la donna che cantava in origine ^^ -------------------> Soprano Italiana!!!^^

As a father I try to educate my son to the best of my ability. Watching once upon a time with my boy was one of those days.
And you made a great Job man!!!!!😉
Parenting done right. Hell yes!
my father did the same thing :D
As did mine. In 1968. Miss him so.
Good job. How old is your son?
How can someone not listen to this again and again.
People who are stupid don't listen to such a masterpiece.
Same with the Good the Bad and the Ugly....which I am requesting to be played at my Funeral.... Blessings
Daily feeding with the positive vibes of this orchestra. Awesome !
Bro you made my wish of 'Liking an Indian's comment in an Ennio Morricone's music video in youtube' come true by commenting. :)
Hypnotic indeed
For some reason...when a great orchestra plays iconic tunes it seems to highlight just how brilliant & original the music is. It's amazing how much this piece meanders along - you can feel an epic story unfold, musically.
ليس كل شيء
Without the music of Ennio Morricone the world would be an empty place..
So would Sergio Leone's movies.
I'm a huge Ennio Morricone fan, and listening to this I think Morricone would be proud that the Danish National Symphony Orchestra's rendition of his works are true to its core. And Tuva Semmingsen is just simply fantastic!
Absolutamente de acuerdo, toda una suerte que está orquesta haya elegido esta maravillosa música de Morricone. Ejecución perfecta, con Tuva Semmingsen sublime.
Ya right , Never forget NINO ROTA!!!
The score is that great that it makes almost every rendition sound amazing. This one is actually not that good.
Maestro you are dead, but your music compositions will be immortal. Thank you Morricone!!
You are only truly dead, when you are forgotten.
The great man has passed away today. He was a titan that spanned the world of film music. He brought us some of THE most iconic music we have ever been privileged to hear. His music defined a whole genre of film making. For me, this plaintive piece of music feels very fitting at this time. Riposo in pace Maestro. Il tuo nome entrerà per l'eternità nel pantheon dei grandi della musica..x
Bellissime parole!!!! Un abbraccio dall'Italia!!!!😊❤
Well said!!!!
I remember the first time I heard "Man With a Harmonica" on the radio. I still get chills to this day.
Grande maestro Ennio R.I.P.
I would love to hear Tuva's solo when the Oscars do their yearly tribute to those in the film industry who departed in 2020---including Maestro Morricone. Wow. Just...wow.
Ennio was an amazing composer! ❤
If they made this film again in a 100 years time they can’t make it sound like his . Thank you Mr Morricone 🙏
The Danish national symphony orchestra, a shining star in the world of reality, genuine music congratulations Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Humanity as a whole best achievement has been it's ability to create music like this.
Unglaublich,Ihr seid die Besten. Unbelievable you are simply the best.
Re-listening....re-crying....is beautiful ❤
You're dead, but your music lives forever Ennio Morricone ..
Tuva's voice is incredible and Sarah Hicks is, in my opinion, a world class conductor. She did an amazing job bringing this composition together.
Ah so that’s her name , did a great job the conductor that is.
They don't make movies and music like this anymore, I listened to every one of these westerns ..memories come to life.
Addio maestro. You've just walked into immortality...
I love this comment.
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra was considered the first in the world. The maestro is creative and amazing, as is the entire band. I love them all and thank you all. A thousand thanks and thanks to the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
The woman who does the whistling did this song with so much passion, you could feel it

Probably the best orchestra in the world !
RIP Ennio Morricone - this particular theme always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up - this is probably the best rendition I've ever heard of it - bravo
I haven't heard many orchestras playing. But the performance by this one I guess can hardly be bettered. The have literally recreated the original. Feels as though you are in the scene!
I have heard a lot of versions of this but this is my personal favorite! RIP Ennio
The places of "once upon a time in the west " are mostly tourist attraction ghost towns now . Thank God
No words to describe how beautiful this music and exquisite a movie.
How could anyone vote thumbs down on this?? This is a brilliant piece. A real symphony orchestra gem. Excellent and haunting. Commemorates one of the best Westerns ever.
What about the Wild Bunch!?
It doesn't matter how great something is, there is always a turd in his mothers basement somewhere to vote it thumbs down.

Brian Buday more likely it’s a liberal cry baby piece of shit.
Some real psychopaths out there 🤪
RIP, Ennio Morricone, who has left us today, July 06, 2020.
Que de beauté : l’orchestre, les choristes, les femmes et la musique d’Ennio Morricone gravée à jamais dans l’intemporalité. Merci Ennio pour ces cadeaux fait à l’humanité.
For me this music has everything, it makes me reflect on life, the triumphs the tragedies the melancholy and the optimism. Miss you mum
As a child I loved this music , I had Gabriel’s oboe playing at our wedding when my wife walked towards me . I wanted once upon a time in the west but my wife said it was to emotional . I will have it played at my funeral as the last song in my life . Thank you Mr Morricone 🙏
Every generation people will enjoy this music for ever 🙏
One of the greatestest orchestral performances of my lifetime. Bravo!
Wenn Engel eine Stimme haben, ..... dann habe ich einen gehört!!!!!! Unvergleichlich schön
If a person hears this and doens't feel anything, there must be something very wrong with him/her... This is perfect, and the world today is saying goodbye to a legend, that could touch our souls with beautiful songs. Immortal through his music. RIP E. Morricone - 7/6/2020.
I could listen to this song a thousand times and not get sick of it. Beautiful.
Angelic!
Remembering a legend. Never been so affected by the death of someone I never met before
i am so glad to have lived during ennio morricone time he was a titan of music.
Reminds me of the last choir I sang with. Thank you Terry...
This video is a high quality production. Not only it brings across Morricone's wonderful music excellently but also cut and camera is virtually perfect. Applause for the orchestra and the film team.
... and the sound production team! The sound recording is impeccable!
Magic is real. Majestic.
Well, this symphony orchestra is part of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. The Danish equivalent of the British BBC. Surely they are able to make good video productions.
Wonderful, . Gostei muito.
A well-deserved compliment.
Watching this for the 40th time and it suddenly hit me, this is perfection.

Tuva is the best mezzo soprano I've ever heard! Perfect pitch! What a woman!
Im in tears.
This song reminds me of my life, the tender years, happy times, sad times and life in general🙏❤
"Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod" hat mich ein Leben lang begleitet. Aber jetzt mit 79 wird es real und vielleicht las ich es bei meiner Beerdigung spielen aber nur das Originale und nicht vom Band!!! ⚰️❤️👍
All movie scores played by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra are perfect renditions.
In my will, I will specify that the theme of "Once Upon a Time in the West" plays at my funeral. It is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard.
actually, philippe said that...
I told my wife the same....please play at my funeral.
1970 was the first time I saw this movie, and I've seen it many times since.. this music is magic.
The human voice, the most haunting instrument
