I am in the process of transitioning from oil & gas into PM. I have done Agile PM foundation & Practitioner certifications, currently doing Scrum Master, then will do Change Management & lastly PMP. I had to engage a career consultant who advised me on what to do taking into consideration my background & where I wanted to go. This is such an important aspect to consider before venturing into PM, thanks for sharing this at no cost 😁

Thank you Ire for your great work. I agree with you on your perspective on the different certifications. I practice project management in Canada, and I hold both PMP and CSM. These are the certifications mostly required by PM recruiters in Canada. So, it is remarkable to learn from your PM experience in the UK as they can still be applied here in Canada. Great job!

I've been a project manager for 6months but worked in project delivery in various industries (IT, Construction & Telecoms) He is my advice, Prince2 is just a tick box for recruitment and often the methodologies are not actually used by companies. But they do help YOU deliver stuff successfully, everyone's management style is different and there isn't really a "correct" way to be a PM. One thing you didn't really speak about is APM it covers both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the route you can take if you want to become chartered (UK version of PMP) SOME employees will ask for PMP or APM if you are doing government, bank related project delivery. So if your new to project management, I would get prince2 and then whatever your employer wants you too grab.

Hey there ! Depending on how you want to do it, you can either self learn (then do the exam) or get someone to teach you and do your exam (this is usually a package deal) . To purchase the exam as a stand alone you can do that by going directly to the peoplecert. Or if you opt for training. There are many options. I have used QA and learning academy in the past and had a good experience with both . But you should defo explore all options

Also the option for the option of the package that comes with the exam and training I don’t really know any as a beginner. I wish I did
I’ll definitely check out peoplecert and see how it goes alone and if something I can afford too ive also heard they are really expensive to sit for. And I would love to be prepared the best way so I can pass the exam. Hopefully

Hey! So you don’t ‘need’ any of theses certs. Technically you’re already working as a PM. Ask your manager which will be more aligned to what you are delivering too. But yes defo instead of Prince2 I’d say scrum or agilepm is way more aligned to sw dev. I don’t think you need both unless you actually implement scrum at work

There will be a few tricky answers which will look almost identical. But there will be a subtle difference . So it is very easy to get questions wrong if you don’t pay attention to detail. But apart from that, the time goes fairly quickly. Im dyslexic so I actually get extra time, but even with that, I found that the time went fast😨 don’t get bogged down on questions you don’t know. Hey! Just want to say amazing video!! Best video for me on youtube on this topic.
    My scenario:
I have applied to 2 MSc courses, one is called Software Project Management MSc and the other is called Project Management MSc.
I have a solid choice of pursuing a career in the software space, so from your explanation, AgilePM is the best choice for me.
    My dilemma:
Software Project Management MSc at Royal Holloway University focuses on the software space ofc, but they take teachings from PRINCE2 methodologies in this course, which is not entirely tailored to the software industry, although they teach the software terminology and market. I think they also include a foundation level of PRINCE2 certificate at no extra cost, not guaranteed.
Project Management MSc at the University of Westminster teaches standard project management ofc, not focused on the software space and I have the choice to do a foundation PRINCE2 or foundation AgilePM at no extra cost guaranteed.
Now my question is, which do I do? Which is the best option for me to get into the software space?
    Thank you in advance!

Yerp as highlighted in this video. It depends on the type of delivery. That being said, I’ve seen agile projects also completely waste money due to poor governance, lack of direction and definition of the end goal. Some use it as an excuse to just do what they want for how long they want. And no real value is added. But once again. Ultimately it goes down to the environment. Agile is not appropriate for all projects . Rail, construction, large scale IT transformation programmes, IT infrastructure for example .

@mohammedanfalshaikh5696 you asked if you do agile projects, can you skip prince 2 and just do agile, my advice would be yes. It’s always best to do both foundation and practitioner. But you have to do foundation first anyways

@mohammedanfalshaikh5696 personally I think as long as it’s from a professional accreditor, they basically all hold the same weight
