Amazing video. I am currently studying for a masters in IT Project Management in the UK and must say I found this extremely useful and insightful. I have spent over 2 hours watching your videos and eagerly look forward to more. It is a career change for me after 15 years of working in the banking profession but I am willing to learn and committed to seeing it through. I am patient person, exhibit great leadership skills (proven from a lot of feedback) and manage time well too. I know I'll be fine but need a mentor to guide me properly as I feel I am getting in at an advanced stage of my life. So for the time frames, requirements, budget do you ask directly to your team: 1. What the project entails for them (what they need to do) 2. What they need ($ for tools etc, colab with which teams and deliverables) 3. How long (realistically) 4. What are the potential risks (technical) When I managed my team in my agency I always spoke to them asking exactly what they need and make the calendar that way, they’d tell me the deadlines that works for them (negotiating to keep it on track) and where could we need a little more time in case something happened (I.e. design developer feedback and changes before starting production of code). Is this right? I had an agency in Mexico but I moved to California as I got married, thinking on pursuing PM for the AI market as it’s growing by the day, but working in America is completely different (from a corporate structure point of view), looking for entry positions 😂 a step back but I think I can do it, especially with the help of automation to keep everyone in the loop of what’s happening.
Time Management is my top skill on this list even in my personal life! I always had alternative options in the back of my head and can estimate accurately how long something will take. I do if effortlessly and just shock myself each time. Some skills need to be developed of course but a career such as Project management, people need to pay attention to their natural skills and ability such as time management and I’m very organized. Not technical like Engineers but my mind knows how to put all the technical people together to paint a picture! I could do technical skills (example I can make websites) but I don’t have the patience it’s too tedious lmao.

Hey there! And thank you! Really the course you choose to do depends on a a lot of factors. Tyoe of project management you wonna do, what country you’re in etc . If you want to do the work prince2, I did mine with QA, I did my agile pm cert with QA also . They were cool, I did the classroom one. Google pm cert is also a good beginner course and can be done online
I create the budget then submit it for approval to finance (if internal) / to the client. If it’s too high and gets rejected then I can look for ways to cut the cost, but 9/10 that also means removing some items from the scope of work, reducing quality or increasing the time in which it takes to get the work done

Hey there! And thank you! Really the course you choose to do depends on a a lot of factors. Tyoe of project management you wonna do, what country you’re in etc . If you want to do the work prince2, I did mine with QA, I did my agile pm cert with QA also . They were cool, I did the classroom one. Google pm cert is also a good beginner course and can be done online

Do you create the budget too? Or you work with someone in the finances department to estimate the cost?
I create the budget then submit it for approval to finance (if internal) / to the client. If it’s too high and gets rejected then I can look for ways to cut the cost, but 9/10 that also means removing some items from the scope of work, reducing quality or increasing the time in which it takes to get the work done
Is the Statement of work also the PID ?
Hey ! Kinda but statement of works tend to be a lot more detailed than a PID. But it will include most of the same details
