Would love to see a video on wheel and tire size choices! I'm thinking of getting my stock 12inch wheels widened for my clubman GT but never seen it done and not sure about offsets, tire options etc. Great video on the flares mate!
Great video. The information you put out is very useful, and a tip from an aircraft guy. I used riv-nuts on the blind holes with black instrument and for the accessible screws a nut with a lock washer. 8-32 screws, the black instrument screws are brass (no corrosion ) and they are from Aircraft Spruce.. I recently installed my 7ent built 850cc original motor with powder coated subframes along with the running gear, so I now have a rolling chassis. The fender flares were installs last weekend, perfect timing. Thank you
I’m so addicted to this channel. I wish you guys weren’t that busy and had a chance to upload regularly but we understand. Can’t wait to get my mini to practice all this information
Are you not doing anything to prevent rust, when you drill holes in the body of the car? Great video btw.. I needed that info for my next build and I never figured out how to match wheels and flares..
Over here in England we used to call these ‘spats’ in the mid 70’s. They were usually made out of aluminium and fixed on with pop rivets. Yours look much better. 😀
Hey, thanks but it's hard to say without seeing the wheel/tire combo and knowing spacer size. With that much offset we would probably recommend against spacers, btw, because your scrub radius is already huge. That being said, group 2 race arches might be interesting for you.
If you dip the rivets or rivnuts in waxoil or any other kind of anti rust treatment before you fit them to the bodywork. Once fitted the fixtures pull up to the metal and spread the anti rust treatment into the drilled hole and hopefully prevent any further rust issues. Hope this is of any help for the future 👍
As always: A really good and instructive video. I do have one question: Did you cut away any of the edges of the wings after removing the old wheel arch using an angle grinder?
I quite like the chrome trim you used, it looks narrower than the stuff I have (Minispares?) Where did it come from? looks like a better one for the bending.
as always, cool video. Never been a fan of trimming the fender. I tend to avoid modifications that are that permanent: I bought my mini 15y ago when I did not know much and the previous owner had 13'' installed. Now it's trimmed so much I can't revert to smaller front wheel without it looking like a SUV :) So think it twice when you do this type of trim to the body. :) my 2 cts to the discussion here. Also, there are several types of rubber to fit the arches on the body. the one shown on the video are the right one! Don't go for the original Rover "sportpack" self adhesive rubbers: those are rubbish and will wear out very fast. you really want to have the seal kept pressed between the arches and the body.
Good point, and agreed. Especially in the case when stock arches are in good condition and don't have screw holes, we generally discourage adding arches at all. And when trimming fenders, the owner should be committed to their wheel choice.
Mate,i don't mean to be rude.but we called it "Arches".maybe over there you've called it "flares".But hey, that stuff looks nicely fit and sick, mate.Well done mate!Cheers!!😁😁😁👍👍👍
Great video, as always! Will these flares (works GP5) fit with 10 inch wheels? Have you maybe an example of these flares fitted on a 10 inch mini? Than you!
What about the vertical travel? If you go over a sleeping policeman too fast your nice mags will be bifurcated. I saw it happen on an Anglia once .... not pretty. And no matter how hard you try you cant get the 2 halves back together again.
Anything using nuts is a waste of time , water gets in and then you end up with rust , the easiest method is stainless steel self tapping screws. My preferred method is pop rivets.

Thanks for sharing that awesome tidbit! Brass is a great idea. Love taking elements of aircraft construction and applying them to cars. Cheers!

Great looking Wheel + arch combo. 👍

I liked your videos easy understanding and one thing i got an idea to use flare in Many cars.
What flares do you guys like for a 12X6 -7 offset wheel without spacers? You guys always nail the way a mini should look.

@@Stevestonmotorco Running the JBW alleycat wheels in 12x6 - 7 on a black and white checkmate, i didn't plan on running spacers on this setup.
Stance looking good
That's a pretty cool chair you have, if I can't find one I'll just make one!
I think it's called a Z-Creeper !
awesome video. i put group 2 arches on a friends 12x6 mk3 mini and it was the perfect stance retro whatever the tyre was 1cm out of the fender

Hey!! So many days without your vídeos... Please don’t do that again!!!😂😂 greetings from spain!!
Where do you get the black and chrome fittings for inside and outside of the flares? I haven’t had much luck
I love this channel!

Hello, I own a 1992 classic mini, and I was just wondering what spacers you used for the front and rear thanks
Maybe a video on importing a rover mini from Japan to Canada? Looking to start with a clean rust free mini
Those flares fit more recent mini (native with plastic flares) without drill the body?

@@Stevestonmotorco Indeed!
can anybody please tell me where to get those flares? I am looking for the exact same(group 5 with lip) thanks
🔥🔥Nice work bro🔥🔥
nice vid, what is the name of those arches?
He said it at the start of the vid
So I want to put to 13 inch wheels with group 5 arches need a hand with how to get on with it
Where can I buy this wheel arches?
Did you use stainless riv nuts??
😎👍
When are you guys doing a clubman? Did you get them over there?
Flares are something that was worn in the 70’s, they are wheel arches!

What a British comment
@@MrTurnip1000 ,Easy there Lad!! So British, innit?😀😀🚗🚗
Is a rivenut tool the same as the rivet tool?
They are different. Rivnut kits install a threaded rivet so you can use a screw fastener. Rivets install a rivet as the fastener.
I want to fit 13s with a sportpack arches do I only have to cut the front
depends on the offset of the wheel
Can you tell which flares those are and where to get them?
Those might be Group 2 Race from Mini Sport.
I would like to know where you get the chrome strip at the end...
Me too!
Just a local parts supplier. It's usually advertised as that horrid door edge protector. But it works well for this application.
Looks neet!.. good through.. but it missed lol👍😃
What size wheels are these ?

Hi, thanks. This car was either GP5 or GP2 Race, but they are similar either way instagram.com/p/B3fSigngqEc/?

We avoid using self tappers as they seem to cause the most issues in the long run, in our experience.
Fuck I clicked this thinking it was like going to be flares like the ones shot out of fighter jets.
Oh crap, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE show us how to make a (DIY) subframe for a VTEC conversion 😭
arches and wings not flares and fenders
This is Canada 🇨🇦

They are wheel arches...flares are trousers worn in the 70s ffs😂😂
