- Juley has owned seven Minis over the years, but she has brought her 1981 Austin Morris Mini “Little Min” to the Clean Team for some professional help. She keeps the car in good nick but doesn’t shy away from using it as her daily driver, often using it to transport plants and gardening equipment. This has left the original upholstery looking a little bit grubby and in need of some TLC. Light work for the Top Gear Clean Team...

@@sigmamale6128 When you think about the fact that this car is 40 years old and used with a whole family it was pretty clean and in a good condition. She might not be crazy about cleaning it every Sunday but she took care of it. And you have really other thinks to do as a mom than worrying over your car. The car wouldn't look like that if she didn't took care all those years.

Been a reliable friend for many people in 40 years. The car deserves the love just as much as Juley deserves to drive it now it's all sparkling. Good job.

When transport was transport, and not a status symbol, a Mini was a ground braking and effective family car. Now we all need two-ton faux off roaders... go figure.
Legit lol these people buy 80k Suvs to to just drive around 1 person and get 10mpg
It will be hard to find a small car with ony the basics nowadays. And the price starts roughly around €15.000 (in the Netherlands at least). That's crazy.
Except your height is 1.97m
Big killer for these old cars is safety. Such cool little things, but you really really mustn't crash in them. No crumple zones, no airbags, no abs etc - really makes owning one as a daily driver quite a risk.
@@SpottedCreeper the designer, Alec issigonis (I think I spelt that right) once said something along the lines of, "it's designed to be nimble enough to not crash."
Had an uncle who managed to write off a lorry with his mini. Admittedly he nearly wrote himself off too, but not quite. Obviously the mini was no more.
Also no crumple zones aren't a bad thing in old cars nowadays... everyone else has such nice soft cars to hit, just use their crumple zones! (Of course, I jest)

No lol. The new minis are ugly af. It's bloated. These minis were revolutionary but the new minis are just bmw reskinned with a mini like body

I said wow! at the difference to the seats and the paintwork looked matt before, after was glossy and reflective. It looks amazing and Juley is so sweet, what a lovely thing to do for her. ❤❤

This series is fab! Would be nice to collaborate with someone that could fix the stitching and leather too to get it good as new! But the clean alone was a night and day diff
Btw I think you'd benefit from having "Clean Team" on the thumbnail somewhere! I like this series and keep missing the uploads because the thumbnail isnt clear and the word "Clean Team" is at the end of the title!
They're doing a 1 day detail, not a restoration.
@@Fr0dders I understand the concept of the video - but I'm suggestion Top Gear UA-cam channel COULD do that where they have a restoration then a detailing on a car which is battered
@@Fr0dders Sure, I wouldn't expect them to replace the soiled seat foam that is loaded with 40 years of farts, but c'mon, why not fix the tear in the driver's seat when it's already removed from the car and thoroughly cleaned?
@@DaRealBzzz The goal is to clean the car in 8 hours. Sure thay can fix the tear, but it will take more than just 8 hours... not unless they have more people in the team.
My first car in 1982 was a 1978 mini, in " Sandglow" yellow. They did the Austin Allegro and Austin Maxi in that colour too. This mini is in amazing condition for its age, even the slightly damaged seats are fine for a 40 year old car. Nice work boys.

An acquaintance had a red one of these back in the early 80s. The doors had no liners and the latch was activated by pulling a chain. It was a brilliant bit of basic transportation

Rode in one many years ago during a visit to Trinidad. Great little car. One of my brothers took his road test in one during the time he was living in London.

The forty year old mini came up a real treat, especially of the inside seating & carpets. I'd love to know what cleaning liquids you used on inside to make the difference between before & after cleaning.

Garaged and regularly serviced and not driven like a racing car and a light cleaning once a week then a light polishing.

As a kid my dream car was a mini clubman, it had to be the mustard yellow one with the brown stripe. It's still my dream car❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Lovely guys and beautiful Mini. Came up a treat!...but...my biggest disappointment in almost every detailing job I watch from different channels...nobody ever cleans the engine bay!! Probably one of the dirtiest areas which let a car down and they don't do it? Yes I know...electrics and all that, but a simple steam clean is all it takes...why do they not do it? I have my cars regularly valeted and detailed and they always do both the engine and the chassis. Makes a massive difference. Don't get it.

In my country early 70s *Austin Mini* was the car of many families, poor or rich, it was manufactured in Arica, Chile in *fiber glass mold.* 😀 (same for MG)
Light yellow was my favorite color, I remember so well. Early 90s came then the Rover Mini, but a little expensive maybe.

All it needs is some light green & black paint and you got Mr. Bean’s car.
A few thoughts that crossed my mind: Don't people in the U.K. use rubber or textile floor carpets in their cars? That would most definitely help keeping the car clean. You did nothing about the ripped leather in the car seat? That would also prevent dirt. You did not consider turning the interior roof lamp off while working inside the car? Leaving it on for so long can easily drain the battery as you know. Apart from that - the lady got a nice clean car in return!

You can tell it's been sitting in a garage. No rust in the usual spots!
there are a few rust spots, and I had an extensive re-do about 15 years ago!
@@juleyross it looks beautiful. I had mine as my daily driver for six years. It was parked outside, exposed to northern climate, and I was unable to keep it this tidy.

This series has me replacing my crap rags and bucket and all-purpose car cleaner with actual cleaning products and procedures. Got a pressure washer, foam sprayer, interior cleaner, rotary brush, clay bars, the works. Now I just need cars worthy of the effort :)
There’s no actual guidance on how to use that equipment and employ the methods correctly - without that you’ll be ‘all the gear, no idea.’

It would have taken three years for the interiors to dry in UK weather and BBC Top Gear would have never thought that they will be presenting their random cleaning lads for the show. Well some would have said " I dish the dirt out and I can take it. But why my mother and children have to take it ! when BBC can. ! Anyway nice nice.
