I have been comparing these 2 bikes for a bit, and I've decided to purchase the Nordictrack S27i for these main reasons, which were not discussed in your comparison. 1) Nordictrack's higher weight limit of 350lbs is what I need compared to the limit of 298 (or is it 300?) on the Peloton. 2) I don't need to buy special shoes with the Nordictrack. It's pedals flip over if you have clip-in shoes, but you can use regular sneakers in the shoe holder thingie -big plus! 3) The Nordictrack comes with 2 FREE dumbbells - a $350+ value. I didn't see that they were free on the Peloton. Did I miss that? 4) The screens on the Nordictrack bikes, both the S22i and S27i, can be turned from side to side to use off bike. With Peloton, you have to buy the Bike+ for that feature. 5) The Nordictrack bikes have a built-in fan to help cool you during your rides. Another huge plus for me! 6) As you mentioned, the inline/decline feature of the Nordictrack is AWESOME! These are some of the VERY important features of the Nordictrack that make it a much superior bike to the Peloton. What Peloton charges for it's accessories is a whole cash cow of income that shouldn't be. For example, the Peloton bike mat is $75 compared to $40 for Nordictrack.
What kind of 2 free dumbbells that cost $350+ are we talking about? I received 2 three lbs dumbbells. I don’t think those are worth more than $20 to be honest…. 😅
I have the S22i, and wish I had waited a month or two for the S27i. Nordic Track do offer a full instal service, and this was carried out so well with regard to my delivery, and included connecting my my wifi and some tips on riding. So if the only issue is building the bike yourself, just opt for the full install when ordering. (I also took the three year warranty option)
For me, I love my bike+ because of the Peloton community, trainers, and music. Those three things get me on the bike every day - I’m willing to pay a premium if it means by butt gets on the bike.
I'm getting a bike for fitness on and off the bike. In your review you say the peloton workouts are better. But, in one round you take away from peloton because of price of subscription. But, shouldn't the quality of the workouts factor into the value of the subscription? If something is cheaper does that outweigh quality? That's why I'm planning on getting the Peloton. Right now they have a sale. If you get the essential bundle ( bike, mat, shoe, light weights, and 10lbs dumbbells )for $1195usd till the 1-8-23. The same bundle on the plus is $2245. I'm going to the Peloton store to buy the bike today. The bigger screen and the auto adjustment were not worth a extra $1100. Overall another great review.
Decided on the peloton bike+... Music keeps me motivated. Would love to have peloton bike+ with 27 inch screen and the outdoor rides like nordictrack - would be a killer machine.
I nearly bought the Nordictrack bike. I really liked the idea of the elevation feature and the outdoor rides looked amazing. The biggest turnoff was the fact I would have to construct the bike myself, and the bad customer service reviews. I opted for the Peloton in the end. It’s in my lounge, so the size is perfect for me.
great review! One thing I would have to change about the scoring on the ride part is that nordic track has the incline decline and resistance ability the peloton isn't able to compete. I have a tread from peloton so that would possibly be a reason for me to go that route but man having that resistance is for sure an important part of the entire biking process.
Love the video. Interesting. I think the music on the peloton is amazing tho. A radio station wouldn’t cut it for me I need good music to workout to. Still love my bike +
Steve, love your videos. I would like to add that I recently had to get my PELETON Bike+ serviced due to loud cranking noise & wobbly handlebar; due to Peleton’s cost cutting measures, repair was outsourced. A third party vendor came out to replace the parts. Frankly, I was disappointed since I paid nearly $3K for the bike and PELETON didn’t bother to dispatch one of their service teams.
Although you gave the Nordictrack the lead, due to the scoring, overall I felt you sold the Peloton bike more tbh. For me music is massive and I think you overscored the Nordictrack there, also the Nordictrack looks good, but for a house it looks like a monster, I think it is better suited for a garage that is made up for working out, like you have. Overall, I was more impressed with the Peloton in your review, despite the scoring.
I have to disagree with you on the music being better on Apple Fitness + then in the Peloton. I have a hell of a time trying to find cycling and treadmill classes with music I like ( I listen to mostly mainstream stuff) and even when I do it seems the instructor drowns out the music so you can’t really hear it anyways. To me it seems they pick alot of the music I can’t stand lol. Do you have a video that dives deeper into the ifit platform a little more? Like what metrics are on the screen if you have the equipment vs if you don’t. In this video it seems all you have is time but could it show cadence?
@@GaaraSands16 I'm purchasing the S27i now and for $199USD they will set-up the bike for you. Shipping is free in the US, at least right now. I'd prefer to pay a little and get the experts to take the bike to the room (upstairs in my house) and set up the bike for me.
Great video - thanks. Did you find the S27i screen was perhaps too big given the distance to the rider’s face (like being too close to a large TV)? Any risk of eye strain?
It’s very hard to think that you’re objective when you’re wearing a peloton shirt. This review felt more like an ad for Peloton. I have a NordicTrack, they set it up in the room of my choice. The bike is smooth and the workout variety is much better with iFIT. Not only do you get the studio workouts (Not a fan of Studio workouts) but you get thousands of challenging scenic rides.
My wife and I are looking to add an indoor bike like this. I've been researching what's out there right now and I am torn between this S27i and the Bike+, I really don't want to spend upwards of $2500-3000 to experience some of the horror stories I've read about regarding customer experience, apps crashing, connectivity issues, return policy, etc for NordicTrack products. But I've seen many positive reviews and videos as well, so it's hard to gauge the risk. But I know that I would only ever do outdoor videos on the S27i, whereas I question if I could stay interested in the studio classes on the Bike+ as one of the reasons we are looking to get a new machine is to break up the monotony of only having an elliptical. And since our main outdoor exercise is hiking in the mountains, having those outdoor classes makes the risk seem more palatable. I've also seen the growth from the first videos I saw about NordicTrack bikes to the ones now, everyone recognizes the massive improvements, or at least the appearance of so. They also had new board members instated, which hopefully means more commitment to quality and improving customer service in all forms and app/ui responsiveness. I know that either way it should be a good decision for our health, it's just nice to have that extra interest or pull when it presents itself. Who knows though, maybe I would thoroughly enjoy a studio class, I've never done one. Thanks for making this content.
Hi Steve, I know you’re a Peloton fanboy (good on you) 😂 but do you happen to have any recommendations for someone who isn’t willing to pay the price of a Peloton/Nordictrack/Schwinn)? The indoor bike market is very confusing, especially for someone buying a home bike for the first time - worth a video even? Thanks for all the work you put into your videos, cheers.
A couple of times you switched to a TV hung up on the wall? Do both apps do this? Is it possible to hang a big screen and just use that for floor workouts?
I recently had a total knee replacement surgery and I've noticed one leg is now 1.5 inches longer than the other. Better get the other knee replacement surgery soon so I can level back up to 5'11" like I used to be! Great video! I just ordered the S15i because NordicTrack is offering a great deal: FREE S15i bike with a 48 month subscription at 39 dollars per month for a total of 1,872 dollars. Speaking of leveling up, I'm wondering if I can upgrade the monitor since the bike is virtually the same? Have you heard of people swapping out smaller screens for the larger 22' or 27" monitors?
The fact you have to set up the Nordic track for me is an instant pass!love our bike+ Without trying I would think the screen might be too big when riding…just a thought :) the bike + is a gorgeous design, shame to ‘hide’ it away, great comparison video (height joke made me chuckle😂)

Good question! The Hydrow was packaged, part assembled and ready to build with the end user in mind. The S27i was the opposite really. I hear the 2022 ones are much easier to put together though than previous years.
I enjoy the rides, but the spin class really pushes me better to get a better workout. It's psychological - for sure... But some might thing the rides are more motivating. Guess it just comes down to personal preference...
Sorry mate. You totally lost me when you said the peloton lost on looks. In no WORLD is the Nordic track even close the the aesthetics of the Peloton. Disliking this.
Well it was a biased review (all reviews are inherently biased)... To each his own... I agree, Bike+ is a thing of beauty compared to the NordicTrack. But I would never buy a bike based on the looks, and not sure it should have counted in the scoring so prominently.
